Surprise! My son said he and J are going to buy me some furniture for a birthday, Christmas combination present! I've been window shopping all over the internet, plotting and planning. I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it. He told me with the holidays right around the corner, people coming into town and staying with them, someone with a baby already living with them and a baby of their own on the way we'll have to take it slow, a little here, a little there okay? Yes! I mean on the little SS I receive it would take me a really long time to get the things we discussed. The only catch is I have to make Amazon.com my new best friend because my son hates to shop, running store to store for some of it here some of it there. Even buying from multiple places online – he hates it. If I just stick it all on Amazon and stay within budget he'll be happy. All he really wants to do when it comes to shopping is get it the hell over with. He's just like his dad.
One day when I was married, his father said – Wait! I almost forgot, I need some work clothes. Then drove us straight to Kmart. I said oh my God you're not going pull these up nearly to your armpits cinch a belt around your lower rib cage to keep them up so the world can see you're wearing tube socks paired with dress pants from the 1950's are you? Enough for every day of the week just in different colors? And the way he said – Why what's wrong with that? Told me yep, that was the plan and even if we won the lottery, the way he intended to dress for the rest of his natural life. I told myself, well... I guess the good news is, if he wears them fishing we won't need to buy him any waders because those things are expensive. And if he wears them to funerals that will be a good time to cry about the way he dresses without him getting defensive because he'll just think it's because I'm mourning the loss of whoever died. My mother asked me – Well didn't you notice this about him while you were dating? No, why? We were just dating. I never planned to marry him. If I'd have known I was going to be stuck with it for the rest of my life I might have paid a little more attention.
Well if left to his own devices and we still had a K-Mart in town that would be my son's plan too. Since we don't he has to buy all his dress shirts at second hand stores so we can make sure he has all the latest styles, each of them in plaid. Fortunately his wife agrees with me, he needs Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, desperately. She's already got him to purchase three pair of sweatpants. Hey it's a start. Hurry J hurry, hurry! It's only several short years until the novelty wears off and after that he'll only do what his mistress wants. Fix him now while you still can.

I bought some heavy 'privacy' type curtains which keep the cold and heat out and the light too, as well. I also bought a 144 inch metal electrical tubing pipe, which works perfectly for the drapery rod for the new curtains. *LOL*, I bought it at Lowes, but bought the curtains at Big Lots. I actually had to return the curtain rod to Big Lots because I couldn't figure out how to assemble it. Lowes had exactly what I needed for my curtain rod. I am guessing a few of the shoppers at Lowes got a giggle or two watching me haul it out to my car and go down the road with it hanging out the back window. Luckily, it sat flush against the side of the car, so no flag was necessary.
Sometimes it's electrical tubing that makes the better curtain rod.
And, it's a hella lot cheaper ($3.55 per rod). :)

The omnibus edition (Volume 1) of the first 35 comics in the DC Vertigo series Lucifer. It has bonus content as well, including a foreword by Neil Gaiman (original Sandman universe character creator) and an introduction by Mike Carey (the writer - I think it's a "writer" and not an "author" when it's comic books?). It's a beautiful book with vivid printing on good, glossy paper. It's a little impractical for reading due to the heft (comic book sized, about 2-1/2 inches wide); 35 issues takes up a lot of paper! But I can read it sitting at the table with no problem.

Yesterday, two redbox movies. I returned today, so it was kinda like a 24 hour purchase.
Tomorrow for sure, movie tickets. My friend and I were all set to watch Little Women, on new year's eve. But after a gab fest lunch, the only tickets left were front row. We both agreed, ah no !

Today--nothing--but yesterday I picked up cat supplies (wet and dry food and litter), Christmas clearance candy, a windshield wiper and a few grocery items.
I bought bed slats from Lowes. At Walmart I bought sheets for mom, mini frozen pizza's, and water. Walmart during a week day was interesting. The people were different from the weekend people. I also bought pies, Walmart has mini pies for $0.50. Not bad and better than I could make.

We spent Monday in Tacoma...
At See's I bought Mary a half pound box of Vanilla nut caramels and myself a mixture of pecan tads, walnut squares, and p-nut crunch & a box of See's Awesome bars.
At the grocery store there I picked up coke (on sale) and a few other items. For lunch, seeing as we'd never been there I treated at Chick Fil A (chicken strips that were VERY good but not cheap). I rounded out my shopping spree at Hello Cupcake where I purchased 5 Butter Pecan and 1 hot cocoa cupcakes.

Moe I am on the third floor and I have only had 2 visitors. One at my computer window and one in the living room sitting on my air conditioner. I hit it inside and he flew off and never came back. LMAO. They do walk up the walls once in a while but there are a lot of buildings here where I am. The woman downstairs had broken window and cardboarded it to get a new window. YES, one got in and had a ball. When she came home it ran for cover down the wall.
I feed them but they learn not to come around once you give them some verbal discipline LOL. I feed the geese at the park too but I haven't had one on my windowsill yet.

I had to order a couple of necessities from Amazon anyway, so I went ahead and ordered some new bedroom shoes. I love my current bedroom shoes so much that I have worn holes in the bottoms. (They have arch supports.) So I looked at the bottom to see what brand they were, and I couldn't read it, the logos were so worn. So I got a piece of typing paper and a coloring pencil and did a rubbing, and learned they were called "Secret Sole". With a little internet research, I learned they were Isotoners. And Amazon had some! I think it was a "last in stock" kind of purchase - they only had one color - fortunately they came in blue, which is my favorite color. And I was also able to do another rubbing and discover the size! (which I will not share - let's just say I have big feet.)

A small elliptical for the house. I've been craving something new for morning exercise. I'm still at work every day but I'm not running around as much as normal and my body is feeling it. It's still too cold in the mornings to bike to work and the potholes from winter have NOT been fixed and probably won't be so I'm going to need to map out an alternate route that won't flip me over the handlebars. I have a rowing machine here but that has been my primary home exercise for 7 years now and I must admit, I'm growing tired of the same old same old. So yes. I went to a local business that sells natural products for health and beauty and organic produce and non-dairy/vegan food products.
It was a BIG investment, but I bought a bunch of things to help heal up my skin and keep my face and arms and legs looking real good. I even found handsanitizer and Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol (10 ppm) and organic borage oil for deep moisturizing my hair and well, just about any part of your body that needs extra special care (the skin around your eyes). I even got a few little glass jars (2 ounce size) for making two sets of healing potions by utilizing fractionated liquid Coconut oil as the carrier agent oil: one little jar with a Silver Hydrosol mixture and the other little jar will have a tea tree oil mixture. The health and beauty aids consultant gave me a couple of handouts on how to do exactly that. So, for better or worse and a biggo investment in my own health and beauty, I think I made a real good decision today by buying all the products I bought (rose water, hand-made bars of soap (Zumba brand), and more yummy goodies).

Oh, and I did find a great magazine at the check out. Naturally, it was sort of expensive, but it's got some fabulous recipes and ideas and such about taking the best care of you. It's Dr. Mercola's Guide to Optimal Health & Nutrition (back by popular demand) - Spring 2020 edition. No picture available but OMG, the salad featured on the cover of the magazine makes you soooooo hungry. For clean good food, naturally.
While not the exact setup I'm getting it is very similar in style and scope. I spent the couple of months before the lock down having a garage of just studs wired, sheet rocked, painted, etc to prep for the final kit out. Having the floor ground down and epoxied too. I finally bought a new hydration backpack. I had an off-brand one before and the thing leaked and emptied out on the trail. Fortunately I was with someone, so I could have shared water if need be, but I don't want a repeat of that experience!
So I went with Camelbak (the original brand for hydration packs), but after the fact someone told me Dakine is better... smh. If anyone has experience with either, let me know! I'm not trying to die out in the wilderness lol.

I have had my Camelbak daypack for years and I love it. I go on vacation at least once a year to AZ and do long desert hikes by myself and the pack is perfect. It holds everything I need, lots of pockets, comfortable, and has held up condition wise. I looked at the Dakine hydration packs and the Camelbak has pretty much everything their packs have. Also (and this is just my preference) I prefer bright and colorful daypaks because I can easily be seen if I ever get hurt or lost and need to be found. Dakine's packs are all neutral or would easily blend in to the wilderness. I do wear a bright colored top-layer shirt, but I also like that the pack can being easily spotted. Also, when I hike at home, I am usually hiking near seasonal hunting areas, and hunters can easily see my pack. Anyway, one vote for Camelbak. Happy hiking and enjoy your new daypack.

mossberg .410 shockwave .... actually it was yesterday when I made the purchase
it already shows as paid in my visa account ... now the store is having to have a meeting next week to decide if they will ship it out of state ... this is B.S. ... all they need is the info of my local FFL dealer and they can legally ship it there .... when it arrives, my FFL guy does my background check, I pay him the FFL dealer $25.00 charge and it mine .... hope not but have an uneasy feeling this is going to turn out to be a shit-mess ... I have made firearm purchases from this particular business before and my reputation score of them is "the right hand and left hand are clue-free about what the other one is doing" ... hope I am wrong because there are not many of these to be found these days and they are heavily sought after ... thank you covid-19 ... in the past 6 weeks, I have already had 2 of these sold right out from under me because the store associate was slow processing the paperwork and did not put it on hold either time while they scratched their butts and pittled ... I am already prepared to become an asshole if necessary ... the previous 2 times I was upset but very polite ... 3rd time I'll really be the charmer LOL!

Hey Collette, I, for one, am not offended at all by your curiousity question.
My general answer is:
"As many as they want."
For me, the shooting sport is lots of fun. I enjoy experiencing different ones. I have 3 now ... that is if the shockwave shipping is approved. I have a very small caliber pistol (.380 acp) for truck. It is not uncommon to see timber rattleanakes on the back road to my house in the deep woods. If my truck breaks down at night, I would not even consider walking a couple miles home without it. I keep this .357 in bedroom for home protection. The shockwave, because it is light and easy to manuever, will be my snake-gun for just outside around the house ... will keep it loaded with small varmit pellet shells.
Hope that answered your question. :)

What Georgia said. AND you can't buy anything from them online. All of their merch is in the store. As a side note, I picked up a few fixture pieces. They are selling everything! The salesperson I spoke to said it will likely be next month before they close for good but who knows what merch will be left at that point?
ETA: I almost forgot what I came in here for! I visited Marshall's and Stop 'n Shop today and picked up the following: fake Almond Joys, green bean edamame spaghetti, passion fruit macaroons, fun napkins for crafty stuff and fun colored food clips (because I can't seem to stop breaking mine) at the former and Wahlburger patties, Outshine fruit bars, soda, salads, naan and pizza at the latter.

I know, riiight? It seems like one place after another is just not able to weather the COVID storm, especially if their sales were sliding beforehand.
They had some rolling display carts that were nice but the wrong color for my design so I opted not to but I wanted to because there's nothing more pulling at the wallet strings than the knowledge that if you don't get it now, you never will.
For the record, the only stuff that I really and truly felt a pull towards was some the dining furnishings but even with the sale, I don't want to pay what they are asking for them so that's that. Maybe in a couple of weeks, if they are still there, the prices might be more reasonable. They are fast selling anything I consider shop worthy. All of the fun stuff that I've gotten before...area rugs, artwork, et cetera...is either totally gone or has whittled down to the ridiculous and less desirable stuff. At least, the store I frequent anyway.
Today, I did not buy anything but I did send away for free flooring samples. Free is the BEST price!

Pier 1 is going out of business however they do not have a parent company. They were an individual company publicly owned and traded. I know because I have worked for them in their corporate office for over seven years and am losing my job. I've not only been a customer since the 1970s but after working for them all of these years, I can tell you they were an amazing company with a very employee centric culture. They slipped up a little a couple of years ago in not keeping up with eCommerce and well, the rest is history. The website is just a 'look book' now and you can no longer place orders there but stores should be open through at least the end of August if not maybe even the end of September depending on inventory. Some good bargains to be had now for sure. Their name and intellectual rights as well as the website were auctioned off and the buyer will be relaunching a new Pier 1 website but who is to say what that will even be like. It won't be Pier 1 though as we've known it all of these years. Super sad about it all.

The other day, at discount retail grocery store, I saw that Campbells Soup has small cans of what they call, Cream of Cauliflower soup? I bought two small cans and used one of them today, while cooking up a big batch of pasta and veggies, so I can have a bowl of high-protein salad for lunch or dinner, this coming week.
I don't like it. It looks nothing like cauliflower. But you can see smashed to bits pieces of cauliflower in the soup can. Worse, it is orange colored. Not good.
So I didn't use it and won't be using the other un-used can of soup I bought.
Luckily, I have a giant head of cauliflower in the fridge and can steam half of the head and mash it down and add a bit of coconut flour and coconut cream to it in order to make my own Cauliflower soup base. It takes time to do it, but I'd rather do it than use the soup I bought in the Campbells Soup can.
