Omg…. This has been a really busy harvest season

Welp, I bought a 10 x 16 pavilion for my garden! It is exquisite! I just had it delivered last night.

I bought two dehydrators and have had them going for the past two weeks, drying up peppers of all kinds, tomatoes of all kinds, and sizes, onions, zucchinis, and of course, all my herbs. Although some are hanging to be dried.

I also bought canning jars so that I could store the dried Harvest in.

And I bought a really nice mandolin because I got tired of cutting tomatoes with just my hands and a knife

I have frozen all kinds of corn and beets.

Tomorrow I pull out my cold water bath and my pressure cooker to can.,

Impressive! You're living the dream :)

I haven't bought anything for me lately. I did bring home some little condiments dishes with lids. Woohoo! Not so exciting, to say the least.

So this morning, I opened up Etsy and found a Disney Halloween shirt I really want. Perhaps by the end of the day, it will be on its way to me. Now that's excitingly cute!

We’re at the beach, but my purchases have been prosaic, cough drops, snacks at Trader Joe’s. Pete HATES grocery shopping and Trader Joe’s is worse than Stop & Shop. She should have waited in the car, really.

Oh, I forgot something!

well, I didn’t buy her, lol

I have adopted a beautiful black-and-white border collie by the name of Daisy Mae! She’s the same age as Moon and they both have arthritis. They look a lot alike because Moon Is an English Shepherd is a cousin of the border collie

The striking difference though is that Daisy May is completely deaf.

She’s been with us for a week and at first there was huge dog fights over me and Food. That has simmer down a lot.

Also, a fall wreath for my door. A tiny pumpkin for my coffee table. A pumpkin spice candle in this really cool glass container. A black sweater with Sally, from the Nightmare before Xmas, on it. It's really cute, it has ribbon lace up sides.

I bought 30 pallets. And will be getting more as time goes on. I’ve decided to fence in my wonderful garden using post and pallets. I’m going to sand down the pallets and then whitewash them. Once they’re up, I’m gonna stretch Some form of wire fencing on the inside to keep critters out. And the fence that faces my road I’m going to stencil designs on probably flowers, etc.

I also bought an outdoor propane fueled burner so I can can outside next year.

I bought some lip stain. I’ve decided I like lipstick a lot better than lipstick.

Two baby blankets and a crib sheet for something called a "baby sprinkle". My niece is having her second child. This is not technically something I bought today - I bought it a few weeks ago. All the candy stocking stuffers I bought for the boy were in a bag under my bed - and now I'm pretty sure I threw them out in yesterday's trash. :| So I guess I will be buying candy stocking stuffers again when I order groceries. I hope they still have the fun Santa and Christmas shapes in stock.

I did buy some new hangers today, though. They are curved instead of having that funky hanger shape. They are supposed to be for sweaters and suits. My sweaters always get those weird scrunches in the shoulders. Hopefully these will work.

Before we got inundated with tornado warnings, hurricane type winds and a fuckton of rain (right after last week’s snow storm :|), my brake lights (stop lamps, in the tail light sector of my car) decided to stop working, so today, for a small price, I took my car to the mechanic and they got it all sorted out (fixed). My car has more secrets than ever. The previous owners from California rolled this car, then fixed it up as if nothing like that ever happened, yet each year that goes by, I have to fix whatever really happened to this car.

My car is super cute, gets fabulous gas mileage (I only burn about $10 worth of Premium gas each week), but my car is full of secrets. But my mechanic is a fantastic detective. He shows me all its secrets each time it needs my mechanic to fix whatever goes haywire.

$28 bucks for bulbs and time to chase down another “secret.” :eyebat:

Because of the harrowing times we faced five years ago during Covid 19, I was smart enough to foresee T——p’s toxic grip on our nation of white nationalist haters, so I bought enough cleaning products and toilet paper to last at least a decade (until I die, I suppose).

I don’t need to buy anything made by a bazzillionare person or their business organization.

I plan to buy all my veggies from local produce growers and I’ve got enough sundry goods (flours, leavening agents) to fix (bake) my own ‘bread’.

The only thing I worry about is finding clean water. 💦

Also, I’m not buying any decision made by current members of the GOP or the US Supreme Court. I hope these people feel the heat from members of our US society who don’t buy their BS either. May you all experience the same hate driven cruelty as your instant karma soon.

I may have mentioned this in another forum, but I have been having the hardest time choosing a shower curtain. I've never had a curtain, I've only had sliding glass doors, but those would be awkward with my new grab bars. But the shower curtain is so big it takes over the whole bathroom. Plus, I will have to look at it several times a day. It's like choosing a piece of art; it's hard to pick something I'll love that I won't get tired of looking at.

But I finally found something I can embrace on etsy (the square thing on the bottom right is a counter top I couldn't crop out):

WalMart has a new line (bettergoods) that is more upscale/out of the norm for WM. I had to order just a few things anyway, so I went through the bg list and ordered a few things to try:
- bettergoods tomato three cheese bisque
- bg artichoke bruschetta
- bg oven roasted and seasoned red petite potatoes with olive oil, Italian herbs and Parmesan
- bg farmhouse style shredded cheddar, gouda and gruyere
- bg chicken wings with brown sugar BBQ dry rub
- bg bronze cut radiatori pasta no. 496

also:
- strawberries
- a mango
- a banana
- tp

The bettergoods stuff was not that expensive, and less expensive than what I would have paid elsewhere (like for gochujang and macarons). I'm interested to see how it tastes and what the ingredients are.

I recently came across a limited edition of a Little League baseball, which was made in Haiti, before that particular supplier of baseballs was moved to, I think, Costa Rica. Making baseballs in Haiti was an important economy that helped workers in Haiti who live in absolute poverty, poverty of a nation broken by cruel politics in our own country. I know this for a fact due to my mother who went on many tireless missions to Haiti via Doctors and Nurses without Borders.

Anyhooo, I bought that baseball to give it to my little granddaughter for her second birthday, later this fall.

Pete accompanied me to the large coop, one state north. We spent $225. Some items were much cheaper than our local coop, so I bought two (or four). I did intend to stock up, and I did tell Pete that I was going to spend $200 so she didn’t start taking food out of the cart.

I suspect that any current increases in price are opportunistic. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think our local Asian markets have restocked with new products yet.

I like your idea PlatinumPearl for buying fresh produce from local produce vendors. We have (in our metro area) a variety of ethnic vendors: Ukrainian (Russian and Slavic too), Japanese, Korean, and Chinese American produce vendors at community farmer markets that offer fresh produce from their gardens. I buy local all the time. (f)

We have the “Jade” sector in our metro area which features many types of Asian markets: Fu Bon, Hong Fat, Hong Fat II ( three super wealthy Asian business men cobbled their riches together to buy out the Walmart complex at Eastport shopping area to expand their Asian presence in the Jade District of our metro area).

Have you ever tried an Asian buffet?? We’ve got an excellent venue east of our metro’s Jade District…. FJ Buffet (all you can eat buffet with fresh seafood choices of many types, all kinds of fresh sushi, desserts, salads, hot bar that changes out daily each meal time that offers awesome hot food choices).

Here’s a link to their business: https://fjbuffet.com/

My long time friend at work treated me to dinner on my birthday at this buffet.

It was delicious, very enjoyable, wait staff service was tops ( I tipped our waitstaff for their timely, quiet, service), and the aura in the buffet was complimented by very soothing Asian instrumental music. Their wet bar service offered limited choices of beverages, but the tea or coffee or even water was triple filtered and very tasty. Dinner for those of us over 60 is affordable, and regular pricing for adults and children is exceptional too. Very affordable. You take your time to eat all you want to eat. We spent over two hours there enjoying a hearty meal. My lady friend ate fresh squid, and she loved it. Of course, I had fresh crab on the half shell. Couldn’t pass that up at all! Best of all, they are open on Sunday and on all American holidays. I know where I’m going on Thanksgiving, this year... :eyebat: :balloon: (f)

I changed cell carriers ( Spectrum)and got a whole year free! It will be $30 a month next year. ( and I thought I had a deal with T-Mobile.)

Yesterday: I bought one of those coffee tables where the top lifts up to use for dining or a desk. I got it off marketplace for $30. On my way to pick it up, I stopped to get exact change. I bought a $2 ticket and won $20! I don’t gamble much, so it was wicked cool.
Today: I’m buying fencing for the pups so they can go in and out while I’m at work. I’m a little nervous about this set up. But I know my older dog, Henry, can’t hold it for 11 plus hours….
Also getting tires and an oil change today.

A new battery for my car$$$

Why hasn't anyone invented a guage to tell us when the battery will die?? Surprize! It won't start!

Two lamps for my bedside tables. These match the style of my newly redecorated en suite bathroom, but not my sadly out-of-date (meaning: decorated by my next to last girlfriend) bedroom. Time to get started redecorating my bedroom! Of course, now I'll be designing around my lamps and bedside tables (the only things I have that are new) but that's ok.
