I, for one, don't think that we should be limited--within reason, of course. This is especially true for older femmes. Here in the B-F community, we often are subjected to traditional het social rules; ie femmes only date older butches. For some of us, that's just fine. For others, that's very uncomfortable on many levels.

Let me explain. When you are dipping into your sunset years, the number of available older butches is quite limited. That means your dating pool is smaller than a thimble. That can make some of us resign ourselves to an easy chair and watch life pass us by.

For myself, in general I prefer the energy of younger people, butch or femme, straight or gay. Their fresh view on life, their raw courage to try new things, their stamina amazes me. That's one reason I've covered music for so long. Younger people keep me young and keep me looking forward toward the next sunrise.

Just as a random thought, question, observation that I had . . . I remember being in my twenties and thinking that someone in their forties was old, middle-aged, half dead, etc.

When I began entering my forties I heard, a lot, that 40 was the new 30. So when I was 30 was I the new 20? When I reach 50 will I be the new 40?

If I keep doing the math will I discover that I've missed a decade of my life because what I was, was the new something else?

After I die will I need to be propped up in a corner somewhere until my actual age catches up with my new age and I am officially dead?

Hey lofters,

One of my goals this year was to pop in here more regularly. So far, so good!

No monsoons this year. Upside, I love the dry, temperate weather. Downside, it better rain soon or it's going to be a very dangerous fire season.

Spring has come to my little berg, the "fence" jasmine and pittosporum fills the night air with fragrance.

Beauty is never wasted on me, but on occasion do wish a sweetie was here to sit under the moon. Time will tell.

its going to be a rite purty day here in ol buffalo land
there is some happy news in the morningstar camp today...

1 ... my daugter has a cross paths with a blood half brother whom the whole family from her dad's side has not seen or heard of since he was a baby..
sooo i know she has a lot of catching up to do with that... :) and im happy for her.
2... I start my new job, new company doing the same job i been doing.
I been home 5 weeks from my old job... and searching for a local job has been un successful. But i will still keep my options open and may learn more on data processing , cuz this road stuff is getting so so old... but i have to make a living and well it wil have to do for now.
soooooo monday i will be landing in Detroit .. for a couple fun filled days of orientation. yay .... pics of the truck i will be driving coming soon. :)

Hello lofters... coming in for a visit. I lost a good friend on valentines day. One of the most wonderful women I have ever known. Funny, humble and could tell the best stories of the "old days" that I have ever heard. Wonderful lady!

My Mom is in need of a pasmaker for her heart. The Drs have no othere way of treating her heart out side of trying this. If she dosen't get one she will die. She has a test on the 22 and then April 16 she sees the heart Dr. again. She should know by then,what day and time she will have this done. I've been cooking and taking care of her. Sometimes I even put her to bed. Pluse trying to Minister to a family -there almost 3 year old daughter needs a kidney in order to live. It can be a live doner with blood typ O.
She is a very sweet little girl. I'll try to post it on here when I get a chance.

happy hump day friends. Feeling a little down today. Having trouble with my wrist so I went to the dr. She thinks it may actually be a problem with my neck. I already have neck trouble so something new isn't welcome. I had xrays today because insurance demands it, but it won't show anything. Xrayed my neck and my wrist. Next week I see a hand surgeon, and in early may I see my neck dr. Then they will send me for an mri. Wish they would just look at the xray results and schedule the mri that we all know is going to be nessassary. Save me 2 days pay in dr visits. We shall see.

this thread is soooo much for relaxing.
i do so much adore the stone butchs love there energy. and enjoy paling up with fellow stone femmes.
but the loft is a much more mutal ground for everyone.... and its soo much more plesant i enjoy meeting and conversing with ALL members of the planet no matter what floats there boats.

classical ... i will sometimes listen to that when im painting/drawing but it depends what it is .. im creating
like im working on rodeo /cow cartoons and hopfully can see about making calanders out of them ..... soo i put on some country tunes.. lol

ya know.. next time i am bk out your way OS , and time permitting... id like to go to a driving range and practice a lil .. when i was in college i needed a class for 1 more credit .. and golf was on the list sooooo .. i really enjoyed it. but never followed thru any futher.. id like too. :)

I sing soprano 1 with NJ Master Chorale. Last nights performance, we were joined with the Philladephia orchestra and soloists from the Academy of vocal arts, philly opera company and an ava grad who does solo work and teaches voice as well.

As for dancing, well, my mom used to play french horn and she can dance, so I do believe you could learn. Next time morningstar comes by she will have to give you a lesson! lololol Anyone with a hiney so cute that morningstar talks about how cute it is, well, I'm sure you MUST be able to wiggle it! lol :elefant:

it is thirsty thrusday .... annnd im still hanging in Detroit, and not by my choosing. Had this awsome load yesterday evening going allllll the way to Witchita KS , soo i was already at a plaza to pick up a few things . i go to start my truck and get rolling to pick this load up around detroit and .. HA.. my truck wouldnt start.... turns out the starter went.. *sigh*
the kicker to this story I was around the machanic's shop all afternoon , why couldnt of broke down THERE!! .... ok my lil rant is over.. lol

i went to a dance last night that could have been a lofters dance it was a lot of fun with great people i have known a long time funny how when you live in the same community you actually notice when you are all aging. add it just is and you just go with it and you don't think twice about it.

10 years ago staying out till 2 or 3 in the morning no problem now i need a pillow by 9 and 11 is pushing it for me...

So, moving is finally completed. Today we cleaned the townhouse. Tomorrow is the move out inspection and hopefully, by Tuesday I will be able to sit and let that stressful time go.

It is so calm and peaceful watching the sheep and their babies frolick.

What a year! And it is now all behind me.

turns out the pain in my hand is partially, a nerve problem in my elbow. Dr wants to take care of the elbow and see what happens to the wrist. MRI didn't show anything in the wrist. Most likely a small tear they can't see. If it doesn't calm down, they may go in and "do some scraping" ouch! will schedule surgery for elbow soon. Still have neck dr to see.

Sister and her wife have been visiting from Alaska. Neighbors rotty jumped the fence and bit my sisterinlaw. Had to report it. Police had to come out. Now they are claiming we are harrassing them... uhhh really?? Police don't believe him. Rotty was not registered so he is being slapped with a fine. Has to provide proof of up to date shots. They will not put in a new fence (of course he told the cop he would) bc he is out of work (always out of work) and can't afford it. REALLY??? and we can?? Have to do it in order to keep my 72 year old mother and my little Bella safe. Thanks God for a home depot credit card and a family friend who will let us pay him on time for the labor and not charge us much as it is.

I am too nice and do too much for folks. I got burnt by someone recently and I am sad about that. I won't let them take advantage of me anymore. A woman I am interested in, well, lets just say she isn't ready for a relationship. She is interested in me, but not yet ready. I am not waiting. There is a woman on a singles site that said she wants just friends, but the rate of speed she has pushed for just meeting up is, well, too fast. It will be a while before I meet her or give out my phone or email address. Just wrote me this morning, I wrote her back and already wants all that info. ahhhhh no...

things are strange at my job... It is a franchise daycare, I think corprate is either going to take over or sell to another owner. They are NOT happy with him. Neither are we. The order that was suppose to come in at the end of the month has yet to arrive. hmmmmmmmm He blew off a meeting with big wigs.. haven't seen him in almost a month. Fishy Hopefully I at least have a job.

I am glad you got that done. Please call Animal control any time you see that dog loose. You may save someone else from being bitten. Around here if a dog bites, it is quarantined. Then may or may not be returned to the owner unless owner can prove that steps have been taken to kept the dog in the yard. Some jurisdictions have banned some breeds of dogs.

Dog comes out of quarantine tomorrow but fence should be good enough for now. If he bites again the dog will be put down. Hate that, but the dog attacked unprovoked even. Not good owners to tell you the truth. They are responsible, not the dog. Called animal control and they told us to call the police and file a report, which we did.

Wrist arm and elbow continue to get worse despite cortizone shots. Will need to schedule surgery for my Ulna nerve soon.. (funny bone). Saw neck dr today and he wants an mri. Been seeing him for years and he agrees that I should have the surgery. Go back on the 5th of June to see him.

...........hi maverick, i was in my mid 50's when i changed my name from Jacquelyn to Jaques, which everyone called me anyway. I did it because of transitioning, after a lot of thought (years) and didnt change my surname. I dont feel age has any bearing on if/ when a person changes a name rather than the reason, i.e. is it about identity or a need for change (or both)? In the Bible its said that Saul who was at one time a violent man, changed his name to Paul and with that changed his behaviour. Monks and nuns of various religions take new names when entering their chosen way of life. I do feel names, even their sound, have energetic vibrations which go out into the Universe. When your name is spoken out loud, given that vibration is the sound constantly associated with 'you' can mean that if you change your name, you may change what is associated with you.

changed my first..middle and last name a few years ago. I never liked my middle name and it did not mean anything then sounding good with my first. Its empowering to re-name yourself!!Hey all! Just turned 50 here. Hard to believe how time flies these days and yet still feel young in a lot of ways. I have a question for all of you...I'm thinking of changing my name but I feel a little silly doing it now at my age. I've lived with a name I never liked or felt comfortable with my whole life and, now that I'm older I'm thinking about changing it to something I think fits me better. So, what do you all think? Should I just stick with my old name that everyone knows me by or change it up and go for a new name? Does it even really matter what people call me after all this time?

Dude, I have several names. Legally, my birth name, Joan. Lots of people call me Jo. I wanted a more Butch name than my given name, yet still ummm ...female name. Others call me JJ and Joan and my family calls me Joanie.

Maybe it is an age thing, but really what is in a name? In my opinion, the only time it really matters is in legal papers. My dad found that out at some point because his birth certificate had not been changed from "Baby XXXX" His parents hadn't decided on a name!

You can be called whatever you want. Just tell people that you prefer to be called..whatever you want, then at some point you want to change it legally, do it, but remember it can be a tedious process so make sure you don't have to do it again because you might not really like it anymore.

Ok i need a lil vent... and maybe some helpful advice....... seems lately, few times i been around my sister in law.. she has brought up my x co drives name and make.comments nd quesa, why he looks and seems to b like a man... ..i say.. he ah was born that way. Then she wil try 2 disbute that , then i get defensive , i then just leave the room. Ya knw , even though it did not work out driving with my co driver nd i.. i Will, defend his gender and rights.

Morning lofters, turned 50 in march and because of time constraints, finally had my party yesterday. I had a 60's theme (although few dressed the part). People were lovely, had a wonderful time, except I had a small migraine most of the day. After folks left, it got worse and I ended up at the er. Mom took me and we didn't get home until 4:30 am. Birds were singing. oye.

Beautiful weather today... going to hang out and relax.

Well, surgery is scheduled for June 13 on my elbow and then we will see about my wrist. Will be out of work at least 2 weeks...work has suggested disability and to stay out 3 or 4 weeks. Not sure if I can afford it. Worried it might be contested because it was a work injury. We shall see. sigh

I like this. It's classy and it doesn't escalate things. It doesn't contribute to drama and it gives everyone a chance to breathe and rethink things.

This shows a sense of humor if nothing else. Sometimes humor is the only way to deal with difficult people. Laughing usually has the effect of shutting them up or confusing them. Either way they've got something else to think about besides whatever they were being ridiculous about.
