Yep, I did. I retired after 30 years, so it may not be the same as leaving a job and looking for another. I am on my second career, though. I have hear that age can be a negative to some employers. I looks for a job that I would enjoy, not for the money. I was very lucky to get my dream job, I work at a home improvement center.... that wears red vests, not orange:)

Just be yourself and dress nice for any interview...I never understand how anyone can show up in jeans and a t-shirt for a job or going to court?:sunglass:

I started my current job 2 days after turning 50. It was the best thing I ever did. I have always been in sales but I had slumped into the comfort zone of thinking I needed a base salary. I tried it for 4 years and about lost my mind.

I don't look at my age I look at my desire and drive. I am starting a new adventure next month that will hopefully lead me to yet another adventure of making my own money my way and having a blast doing so.

I say go for it. Age is just a number, attitude is a drive.

The moonshine was only in a little shot glass. Not enough to get drunk on. lol
I have always worked second shift. This morning stuff is hard, but you would never know it if you ever met me because I am always smiling and friendly. When I get to work the first thing I do is fill my cup with the strong black coffee we have. Yeah!!

got my appetite back , was in my favorite Mexican supermarket and wellllll ... lol had to get some mesquite grilled chicken , avacdo's , and some fresh still warm in the bag tortillas , had 2 self made tacos and im still not hungry, just sippin on some more ginger ale.

for the 2nd time this week .. i seen 2 more bald headed eagles and reall up close too.. along the road they took off just as i got to them... that makes 3 i seen so far in just 1 week... 1st time in my life i seen such a awesome bird.

Hello Friends. I know I haven't really been on the site much lately. My mind has been working overtime over thinking things. Since my friend went in for surgery I have been processing feelings and such. Plus work has moving along. Not to even mention this nagging cough that won't go away. I feel so much better then I did last week, but they say the cough stays with you for weeks. Oh joy! I haven't even stepped into the chat room. I want to thank another friend for reaching out to me via Facebook.

That is because we( the lofty Types) tend to be more dependable and our work ethics are vastly different than that of the younger generation...... Though, there are the exceptions in both generations. I have observed 2 types, I am sure there are more, but generally speaking from my own work experience. There are those that go looking for work when things are quiet. Then there are those that avoid everything and disappear when things are busy. My guess is you fall into the first group;)

I do the same thing, kinda. Being at the age of that hot flashes occur, I turn off the furnace at night so I don't wake up due to heat....Consequently, I do often wake to to a brisk 55 cool degrees in my house....Makes me not want to get out of bed...coffee over rules and I race to the thermostat and turn it back on:)

LOl, when I tell them to go back to sleep, they are even more persistent....keep coming back a nd getting in my face. Besides, it would be like telling a hungry child to come back later and we both know I'd never do that.

Temperature at present is about 38 degrees, but will climb to 60 degrees by afternoon. It was like that yesterday, too. Twas a beautiful day yesterday and I had no one to do anything with once I left work :(

I understand the hungry kittens. Since the incident with plumbers walling him up into the bathtub walls for 3 days, Luc wakes me up yowling every 3 to 4 am. The lights are left on and he gets great bedtime goodies, but needs to be talked to at about 4. Some choice words are all it takes before he snuggles up next to me or one of the dogs. Sometimes I have to get up and feed him extras or just hold him. Anything to stop the yowls.

Momma can't sleep tonight. My son stayed with me for 6 months to complete a college course. He has passed the course, and is moving to Osoyoos, B.C. tomorrow. Some may say

Posting in for a short visit. Sorry I haven't been around much at all. Every since my one friend went in for cancer surgery and I found another friend has been in the hospital for a month (with no one knowing) for brain cancer I have been kind of distant. My frame of mind is thinking, thinking, thinking and worrying. I am not great company unless I am at work.

I want you all to know I am thinking of you and hoping life is treating you all as well as can be. Things are going good for me and are in the works for change once again. More on that at another date. Because of this change I may not be able to connect with this site any longer due to the IP. I'm saddened by this, but the change is good.

I miss chatting and playing with you all. I tried to go to chat, but all I get is a blank white screen. I'll try again later.

I've been on leave for the past two weeks, on a cruise to New Zealand, which was excellent, despite the really rough weather from the Queensland cyclone and high sea swells getting there and coming back. As some of you know it was my birthday last week - - turned the big 50.
Let me tell you, being 50 sucks! lol
Honestly - being 50 isn't bad but getting super sick on my birthday sucked! It started as just a little tickle in my throat and within a few hours I was sicker than a dog. Laid up for almost a week. Went to school today and fell asleep during lecture! yikes!
so - I'm on the mend but it seems to take longer than it used to.

NickE, I can sympathize. I just got out of a relationship too. It wasn't as long as yours, but I was really taken by surprise and truly thought this was my "forever" one. I was single for 9 years before that, and so I really feel the same time pressure that you're feeling. I don't want to waste any more time either. And I feel pretty clueless, too! So don't feel like you're all alone in this. There's at least one more in the same boat with you. :)

Just dropping by to catch up on everyone's news. I had some unbelievable news today, I won a secondment for a higher duties position that I have dreamed of for a few years now. It's for 6 months and involves a lot of travel around the state and a number of people applied for it. What makes it even more attractive and special, apart from it being a challenging but very rewarding role, is that my ex told me that I was a 'career spinster' and I feel that I have shaken that label and proven my capabilities. Well... Good Mornin Folks and Miss Morninstar!; Checkin in here from the tip of Lake Michigan, or the tip of the penis as the young Folk say. The springtime Crocus flowers came up in the middle of February and are croaking. I ain't neva seen that happen, and the coons all stopped hibernatin, and the birds are singin and matin like it's Sringtime already. If this keeps up Folk in Boston will be gettin sun tans in winter! Good to see everyone's smiling faces here!

Having lunch with a straight friend tomorrow, going to Thrifts stores. We always have so much fun. Sunday I am going to just take it easy as I always do.

Monday and the next week and a half I am rearranging my apartment, doing some cleaning in preparation for some awesome company.

The week of the 11th is going to be a non stop week for me. The 13th, I am escorting two beautiful ladies to see Lord of the Dance in savannah,GA. and I am super excited as I haven't ever seen this dance troupe live. I am seeing my local Primary doc, getting my monthly B12 shot, the 14th my Oncology appt. and Labs to see what my tumor cell count levels are, the 15th, my "guests" will arrive, and the 16th St Patty's parade in Savannah,GA. Whooohoo. This is my second year to go and I am really excited.

Can't wait for my "company" to arrive...:).
So, that is MY weekend and next 2 weeks..lol. Nexttttttttt..lol

OMG.. i LOVE to do that, but i hear its hard for solo drivers like myself to get bk east may take a few days to find me a load , BUT im thinking, maybe I could visit the Day Walker and Mrs. Day .. that would be soo soo awesome :) and a long time friend Angie Angela Sellers whom lives near the Thee Daywalkers. anyways waiting to hear bk from my company. :) happy feat here.....
but don't know for sure yet, if im going, my company has to make a bid on the load going there then lets me know... they just need to be sure they have a truck available to do it. its very rare they send solo drivers west of i35 , due to its hard to find expediting loads ( solo) going east. plus i will need to purchase chains its reqired by law. :police:

Yes ya'll am feeling good today. Got lots of rest this weekend. Worked on my projects....

Fixed the runner on my rocker, no more falling off my rocker.... lmao :tongue:

Prepared surfaces for painting on dresser.

Supervised person laying down my wood floor... looks fabulous :ellyphanty:

Corrected color choices on mirror/planter combo, almost done.

Decided to use some of the great quotes peeps post to use on my bus walls.

Making some kicker gypsy curtains ..... not gonna sew them, just use clips.

Planted begonias in my porcelain pots (scored them at auction)

repotted my African violets... only 2 bucks at Lowe's reject shelf

Planted two sego palms, one on each side of the driveway...

Planted century plant, it was a gift from neighbors

Scored a sweet writing desk, gonna use new product on it to speed up painting process...

Oh, and cleaned up the mess in front of the garage.... lookin' great now.

Am having a blast kickin' up the volume on my artsy nature....:cheer:
