ok ... "She" and i had left it as friends right. So today I invite her to a 4th of July party I'm having on Sat. She turns me down, so I ask her... we are still gonna see each other as friends yes? She gets sarcastic... mean actually... and NO not friends. Really? she was the one who wanted to be friends again... OMG .. She was hurtful.. I am better off without her.. but ouch.. it still hurts. Ultrasound tech there are plenty of jobs in that area at least up north NJ. In fact there is a school in clifton that is starting classes in JUly 2010. YOu should definitely look into that or nursing. That's what I'm gonna do after I move out of NJ, look for schools of nursing in the state I'm living in. good luck Ruthie!!

Hello lofters, I just need to 'rant' a bit... lol...
So, has anyone else experienced the whole 'invisibility' dilemma that seems to happen around younger groups of people and/or people who just don't see you after a certain age? This has been a super annoying thing that is happening more and more as I approach 50. I'm going on 47 this year and it is just getting really icky annoying... I have even experienced it with butches that are my same age. I sometimes feel like a heterosexual woman dealing with man/woman issues, if that makes any sense at all. Anyways, I just wanted to throw it out there and see how everyone else is coping with getting older and the whole invisibility thing. I think it happens more to us femmes than butches because of the whole 'gender' thing too. I have noticed that it's totally attractive hip and cool for an older butch to be with a younger femme or be attracted and vice versa... like younger femmes seem to be totally attracted to older butches - maybe it's the whole daddy girl dynamic thingy. Anyways, I was at this social gathering talking in a group of people that were all close to my age and mixed (butches and femmes) and then these two young girls (in their 20's) show up and the butches just totally dismissed me and the other older femmes and started drooling and making little side flirty comments... it was like we were all of the sudden 'invisible'. It's hard enough getting old and dealing with the changes in our bodies, etc.. without this sort of behavior. Anyways, how do you all deal with this.

Just a little disclaimer... I'm in a relationship and am totally secure in it, I'm not single and I'm not looking, etc.. so, it wasn't like I was offended, but it did trigger some 'aging' issues within me.

Yeah I have noticed the same thing. I am single and it is quite annoying. I seem to have become the "femme stand in" for single butches or butches who want to be single. Then when some one, skinner or youner or prettier comes along.. I am toast.

Well, I am a 46 yo single Butch. And I plan on staying single. I do not have time to put into what is required to have a good and stable relationship. Trying to have one would not be fair to either party. So, I just do not date, and have not for almost 8 years. Until I am finished with my schooling, however long that takes, and am into a solid working enviornment, it is not going to happen. I am happy with what I am doing, and it have given me an opportunity to really learn myself, and there is just nothing wrong with that. Besides, I have Bob. He is more than a handful anyhow.

Today is Canada Day. :canada: In a little while I'm heading into Toronto - going to try hit the gay village for lunch. Got some plans for later with a friend.

Looks like I'm going to be on the road again this weekend - going to pick my sister up from her visit and then I'm taking a nephew to one of Toronto's northern suburbs. I'm bummed because it is PRIDE weekend and I'd hoped to go to the Dyke March. I guess since I'm not working that people assume I don't have anything planned.

I might be able to check in here tomorrow - if not everyone have a happy and safe holiday weekend!

It is indeed evening here, just after 7pm to be exact lipstixgal and it's been a grand day doing 'stuff', nothing specific, just stuff.

Mrs.Incubus has left me all alone again to fend for myself :shocking: whilst she trips off to the F.E Awards at the college she teaches at tonight to see her students get rewarded for all their hard work this year. yikes! I don't even bother with those places anymore... however, If I were single - I am in a better place geographically. I don't much care nor am I even attracted to anyone under the age of 45, I don't care how 'hawt' they think they are - I just can't relate at all nor do I find them physically appealing. I love my butch who is two years older than I - totally hot, mature and always has something to contribute to a conversation.

It's a big day today. Mrs.Incubus is having her long curls chopped off. I'm in mourning already. I know why she needs to do it and understand entirely - a combination of stresses and strains over the last couple of years have left her with thin patches at the back because she's losing too much hair.

When we first met she had started growing her hair out and she had 'pom pom' hair (anyone with naturally curly hair will get that one) but over the last nigh on 4yrs it's grown to be down to her waist. I've always loved her long curls and am rather nervous of her coming home later looking like someone different. :eyebrow:

I know femmes do indeed look gorgeous with short hair; length of hair does not a femme make. Before we met she'd had short 'elfin' type hair and in the pictures from that time she does look fabulous. She will still be my beautiful baby girl and as long as there's just a little something to grab hold of when she's being a naughty girl I'll be a happy bunny :groucho:

Yes, Bob is my dog and no I am not lonely. I am too darn busy to be lonely. I am in school full time, work part time and have my business which takes all my time. So I have no time to be lonely. i just turned 40 in May but i am soooooo not interested in anyone younger than me and prefer at least ten years older...however ppl say i look about 25 and if i date a 50y/o butch ppl usually think i'm the daughter lol...but i think that is kinda good b/c you can get away with a lot more pda that way lol

Well - my weekend plans changed - I ended up not going to my SIL's place. Instead I went to the Dyke March in Toronto. Walked around the gay village and saw what was there to be seen. Didn't go into any of the beer tents - I find stuff like that is more fun if you are with a friend. Had a snack and walked around some more. Then I got my eyebrow pierced - which really tired me out so I left Toronto earlier than planned. Damn I'm old!!!
Today I'm going to tidy up the apartment and then go pick my sister up at the train station this afternoon.

Take some alka seltzer for you head and tummy!! Its now lunch time and I'm going to eat my chicken sandwich. This weekend has been very relaxing for me. It' s been total me time. I am seriously afraid of loud noises fireworks, thunder, etc... So watching fireworks on TV is best for me. I got to see some of the best displays around the US.

I have to say I've not suffered so horribly as a result of drinking alcohol since I was a early teenager at my first ever party without my folks. I aim never to get myself into such a state again. Damn that dehyrogenase!! :wine:

Yes it is the dehydrogenase that breaks down the alcohol faster in men then in women so we get hangovers and drunk more readily!! It's awful because I love me some:wine: wine with Shabbat dinners and anytime really....

Speaking of Scarlett O'Hara, I was with my good friend Mel, down on Peachtree Street where Margaret Mitchell's house is located. It's gorgeous on the outside looking like an antebellum estate.

As you know, Margaret Mitchell never saw Gone With the Wind on screen. She was hit by a cab and died here in Atlanta before it's release. I forget the particulars. And last year, the actor who played one of the Tarlton Twins died here in Atlanta as well. I think he was in his late 80s or 90s. I'm a Yankee, but I'm fascinated living in the south, especially in Atlanta, despite the razzing I take from southerners.

Sidbar: we do have a Classic Movie thread, started by me. Folks drop in every now and then, but Carmen and myself do alot of the posting because avid film buffs. If you are too, feel free to drop in and post about American films, between 1930 and 1975, roughly.

I do live a very hard life here which I hope will come to an end soon. I'm a trauma survivor and I'm going through many changes that will set my life right side up at my age. Tenacity, faith, perseverance, and a lot of heart are key in reclaiming my life. Broad shoulders come into play too, but I've that covered with my workouts.

it DOES seem that way! my sister teased me all weekend b/c i am fanatical about the spf 70 sunscreen spray (there were hourly reapplications). People are always shocked to learn that i am 40 and i think the fact that i have not had a tan since 1986 has a lot to do with it!

fried tomatos are easy to fix..just slice them about 1/4 in or a bit more thick,ddip them in either egg was or butter milk then fluf them around in seasoned flower or italian bread crumbs till well coated and drop them in hot cooking oil till golden brown.Fried greens are a bit diffrent to fix but easy,cook the greens as u want then or get a can of greens andy kind,drain off most of the water..just leave a bit for moisture,put them in a non stick frying pan wiht a touch of oil on the bottom to keep them from sticking,sperad the greens around about half inch thick then add italian bread crumps over the top till it cover well,cook till as hot as u like.Trun off the fry pan and take it off the fire,then add smokes provalone or parm over till it melts a bit.Help ur self to some good eating.If u use turnips and have cooked he heads leave then in...so good.

The dating sites are ridiculous, I never did anything to that woman she just never contacted me just said she was going on a business trip for 3 weeks yeah right and would get back to me..that never happened. I agree, dating sites suck! I unfortunately did move for a relationship. I left Georgia for Arkansas. things didn't work out, but I love this area. ya know.. last week sometime... i was poking around the internet, and looked up...... truck driving for celeberties/concerts etc.....
and it came up with several companies and what the qaulifcations are and such... ok .. just lookng courious....
i get these tarot card reading things coming to my wall on FB ... and just about every reading or every other one.... its gives u like 3 a day i dont know why... but it keeps telling me of change, changes, etc...
well.... i had a load I took to canada friday, while i droped it off, (Panther who i work for) sent me a message to pick up another load which was 20 miles away, up north of Toronto, it was stage stuff for .. Metallica..(it was dragons , lazers, war tanks and fogg stuff..) and I thought??? yeha.. this is awsome.. cuz most the time , cept sometimes i haul car parts. so this was cool... and wierd that I got a load like this , cuz i have not mentioned anything about this story to anyone.. of doing the search for trucking companies/jobs doing this sort of thing.
soo ok i get here..... just east of Harrisburg Pa where im droping the stage stuff at some sort of warehouse storage place they have here..
well here were all these other trucks here with trailers with other major concert stuff.... with a couple companies names on the trucks i seen on line.
well after sitting there waiting for someone to unload my truck and listening to these trucker guys talk there stuff and all ...one of them who seemd in charge of several trucks, walked away then came bk a lil later and asked for info about my truck and owner... and wants to se if he can hire my truck for hauling ahhhhhhhhhh concert stuff.... heh.. says they need some smaller trucks like mine.... now how wierd is that???

Hey Lady Wu... my mother used to live in a little town just outside Ashville... she worked at a hospital in town and almost every nurse she worked with was gay! lol used to call them the lickity split gang! Ashville proper has a nice gay community.. as for climate... not bad... still get all 4 seasons...but winters are generally mild and since Ashville is close to the mountain... it is cooler in the summer than a lot of places. today i go get my truck here in a lil bit..... and its back to work i go. yeha...

and will be working my way to Texas to pick up a new co driver... geeshh

i been driving solo for so long.. not sure if i can handle this.....

it will be nice to have someone to talk to on the truck for sure..... BUT...

will also mean i wil have to get use to sleeping while the truck is moving. *sigh* ..... the game plan is to train this person to take over my truck so i can quit. ....... anyways....... its been a week since i been off the road... im ready to get bk out there..... i know there is a song for this.. lol

Well its Friday the 13th that's a lucky day for Italians so maybe today is my lucky day at the internship place and the school will find me a new one to go to. One that will allow me to do clinicals and stuff!!

Not doing much of anything at the place I'm at but stupid stuff like open and sort the mail any JOe can do that!!

Also look into the computer at patients x-rays, cat scans and stuff to see if they are in there.

I am totally blissed and blessed to be 55 in about 10 weeks... I was born in 1955 so this is my champagne birthday... I plan on drinking a bottle of 1955 Krug to celebrate the day !

I just don't get why people are always dis'ing on about their age or covering it up... celebrate who and what you are, all the joy, wisdom and experiences you've collected along the way.

what a friggin day . i swear...... truck broke down, just as i crossed west Va., heard a loud noise, thought it was a tire that blew, nOpe, a turbo hose blew off the engine, all this dark brown smoke coming pouring out of the stack, lost engine power, had to get towed, they put load on another truck.... * deep sigh*.. so kicking bk and eating a small blizzard.,lol

So sorry about my absence. I've been simplifying my life. And good news! I'm with someone now. Hy is a Karma male, Chinese, somewhat older than I, Taoist(!), and extremely handsome to boot! I feel very lucky to have Hym (since Hy is "completely" male, I'll now use regular pronouns) in my life. He is not here all the time but is working on getting His life in such a position that He can spend much more time w/me. Sigh.....I'll try again to be here more. I do value all of my friends here and don't want to lose you between sickness (He is also ill) and my new life. Just wanted to share this.

me too! although my bd is in 9 weeks...but i'm also gonna be 55 also...i keep thinking that SOMEONE had to have made a mistake on my birth certificate because i don't feel anywhere NEAR 55...more like early 40's!! :)

I would take part in a chat room that was specifically for us "mature" members.
I really like the idea of a live chat meet up for the 50s, 60s crowd. We have situations, concerns, plans and aspirations that our younger sisters likely can't relate to yet. Why not? The worst thing that can happen is nobody shows up. Love to be able to discuss topics related to mature lesbians and transmen.
Thinking that perhaps 7 p.m. Pacific (10 p.m. EST) is a time that most people on both sides of the country are awake. Any day of the week.
Maybe somebody with some experience here would consider volunteering to set it up and create a chat room. I'm very new and, honesty, have yet to figurehow to navigate my way around. Hope people are interested.
