Someone asked me in a private message… “Can I tie you up and punish you”… Allow me to expound on the fact that NOT all Leather Girls are into S/M… I am a Stone Femme who excels off of the energy I derive from a Stone Butch, the commanding presence, self-assurance that is brought to the dance that compliments, blends, encapsulates my submissive aura … my personal dynamic… so where I can fully appreciate a slow tantalizing encounter that may or may not border on the line of pain before pleasure… it is not my personal preference to be roped, racked, gagged, or beat… not that anything is wrong with any of the aforementioned if that is your pleasure… with that said… I wish everyone well in their dance no matter their desires…

It has been way too long since we have gathered here.* Comes in and sweeps away the cob webs and dusts all the furniture. Opens the windows and doors to let this ol' loft air out. Puts on a fresh pot of coffee and bakes some homemade peanut butter and oatmeal raisin cookies. Fluffs the pillows on the couches and chairs, then goes outside and waters the plants and flowers, and bring some fresh cut roses and irises and puts them in different vases throughout the place.
Takes one solitary white candle and placing it in a candle holder and lights it for our dear sister Cuddly on her Birthday*

It would be nice to have a place to land in the morning and catch up with the news while drinking a cup of coffee.... Most days I dont feel my age at all. Then I have to take a good look around me and go .."yea I remember being in that mess before." Im digging having a lil wisdom about some things now. My 17yrold thinks Im some sorta guru or something. I just remember being 17. That childs just like his mama.. And I rock.

Hello !! I notice a lot of the threads seem quiet other then the fun ones.
MMmmm hot flashes ! Here we call them flushes but either way they are hot and take some getting used to !
On the topic of getting older I have noticed of late I`m starting to question my choices in things, I`m a traditional classic kind of woman anyway but I keep hearing this little voice in my head asking, am I too old for this nail polish colour or is this necklace more for a younger woman. I know a lot of women older than me that dress far younger, mostly successful at pulling it off so I dont know why I should worry over it. I guess I have a new number in my head now and somehow feel the world views me differently !

It seems the threads eb and flow...we have some really thought provoking threads here, but it seems people get busy and just want to have fun most days.
I haven't been able to carry off a "hip" or "younger" look for most of my life...i was born an old soul, and that comes across in my fashion and other choices. I always wished i could carry off the trendy looks, but i only wound up feeling like a clown.:rainbowAfro:
I have found one thing to be true through the years...if i don't feel fabulous in it, i don't buy it or wear it.

I recently turned 50 and am questioning my fashion choices once again. I seem to do that pretty regularly with each decade.
20th birthday - decided clothing was about more than jeans and t-shirts
30th birthday - dyed my hair red and started wearing makeup
40th birthday - changed my makeup and started a strict skincare routine, also got my first tattoo
50th birthday - I'm not sure yet
People have been telling me for years, "Oh, when you're such-and-such an age, you won't care what people think about you any more." I have found this to be true in some ways and not in others. I still care what people think about how I look; maybe it's superficial, but it's how I feel. On the other hand, I don't care if people think I'm superficial. ;)

When i hit around 45 i realized i didn't give a flyng fig what people thought of me anymore. I still won't leave the house without my hair fixed, and the small amount of make-up i wear every day. Oh and since i moved to the desert, moisterizer is my consant companion; But, those things make ME feel good and keep my confidence level up.

Yes I`ve had a few clown moments myself ! Thats a great philosophy, I should ask myself `does it make me feel fabulous?` more often.

I`m 50 too. I dont think its superficial, I think what I wear makes a statement about myself to the world and I too care about what people draw from that. I feel more comfortable in myself now in many ways than ever before but when I buy new stuff and my eye is drawn to more trendy things, colours, patterns....thats when I hesitate. Staying current and still looking classy for your age is a challenge I`m finding !

Staying current and still looking classy for your age is a challenge I`m finding !
My hair is medium-long; when I turned 40 I dreaded the over-40 short helmet hair that was de rigeur for so many years. I told my hairdresser, and he said, "Oh, honey, nobody does that any more." Whew! I feel like I barely slid under the wire. I've had short hair before, and I just don't feel, well - sexy! - without it.

40 was a rough year, so I hope that this year is much better. I have better luck with odd numbers than even anyway so I'm optimistic.
Like Georgia, I buck the middle-aged helmet head hairstyle expectation. My hair is red and long and I like it that way. I also have bangs, which apparently I'm not 'supposed' to do. Whatever.
:eyebrow:
:1femme:
I've got some dangerous curves and I wear spandex to the gym. Don't like it; don't look. It's literally as simple as that.
There are certain looks I've never been able to pull off successfully so now is no different than before. I love big, chunky jewelry...especially colorful necklaces....but I can't wear them. I'm so little on top, they swallow my neck up.
For those concerned with being youthful and classy at the same time, go with tried and true pieces and use jewelry or accessories for your youthful, fun, colorful pops. A nice A line LBD with bright shoes or fun bangles, for example.
I've been in the 'don't care what others think' club for a while now. I like to look good for me and if someone else likes it too, great. If not, it's no skin off of my teeth.

I know exactly what you mean I`m afraid, I had shoulder length hair but after having chemo its just starting to grow back, maybe 2"s long now. And I have to say I hate it !
Yes I`m happy to have survived this far of course and my hair shouldn't matter but healing is about trying to get back to normal {maybe a `new` normal}...and short hair for me...well, isnt me.
I know some Femmes rock short hair and are sexy and sassy just as some butches are as butch as butch can be with long hair. But I saw my hair as part of my femininity, Femmeness. I wont feel like me again until it has a little length.....I miss it !!

Daisy,
I don't think you have to worry about your age in regard to clothes. I bet that what feels good to you and looks good in the mirror, looks good period. Really I'm just seconding the 'buy what feels fabulous' theory. I'm so glad your hair is growing back thicker and healthier. And that you got through the chemo!
I'm going through a similar time. I had open heart surgery in September and now have a big old scar where I used to let a bit of cleavage show time to time ;-). It's been driving me crazy and sometimes I feel ridiculous because I survived scary, painful surgery that fixed a defect I would have died without getting fixed and I'm worried about a scar! I feel a little better because I went to a play party last weekend and when I wear a corset the cleavage is big enough that the scar is NOT the first thing you see ;-)
However, I agree that part of getting back to normal is wearing clothes I feel good in. So in addition to getting exercise and sleep, I'm going to prioritize buying a bunch of tops that don't show the scar. AND a couple of sexy items worn in certain company which scream "Damn the damn scar - full forge ahead!"

I`m glad to hear you are healing,
I`m beginning to think part of the healing process is finding new `smaller` stuff to sweat other then the life and death stuff. Its hard to explain unless you`ve fought that kind of fight eh ? You have to get to know and love the new you.
Enjoy the days we are blessed to have is what I remind myself of....though I also allow myself the right to grieve my `before` life once in a while.

As someone with a bevy of scars, in varying sizes and noticeability....it's only a story. How dramatic or romantic or silly or scary you make the story is up to you. It can be a conversation starter or you can use it to keep people away.
I don't know you very well, but I'm glad you made it through and are doing much better! Enjoy yourself!
Besides, you never know if a scar will develop sensitivity over time that can be fun or even useful at one of those play parties. ;)

Since the name of this group is 40's, 50's and over, I thought I should try to jump in now. 2 years 3 months before I'm an 'over'. I've actually started to celebrate that in my mind about 2 years ago!!
Now, if my back and knees would celebrate with my mind it would be perfect! lol

Daisy,
I don't think you have to worry about your age in regard to clothes.
I had a triple bypass in 2007...the scar is so faded now that unless I see it in a picture or it itches, i never notice it. But, until it faded, it was the first thing people saw when they looked at me.
If the site has healed, they have great body make-up that covers scars for times you don't want to be stared at. ;)

Hi Loft friends,
How is everyone?
I have another birthday coming up and the years just keep flying by.

Hi Loft friends,
I hope that everyone has a happy Sunday. I am working on getting out more. I have plans with buddy's next weekend and in the coming months. I have read on this site about "meet up" groups and I am going to check that out. I am trying to find balance between a hectic work schedule and social life.
Any thoughts?

Getting out more is a great goal. I lack interest in socializing, but wish I spent more time fostering relationships with friends....go figure.
Meet-ups can be good. I have met a few people that I like through events. :goodluck:
Thanks Mel C, meet ups would be more comfortable if I had a wingman. :)

My holiday season is mostly happy so far, but I am getting frustrated with other people's schedules. My schedule is pretty full, so when other people change something I'm like :| . Also, as other people get frustrated and express their opinions, I am trying to hold back on my retorts. But you know, "He knows if you've been bad or good," so I will calm myself and not add to the fray!
Thank you GeorgiaMa'am,

Just seeing if anyone is around...
Good Morning. Well at least it's morning here. Wow married 25 years that's a very long time. Some gay friends of mine celebrated their 50 year anniversary last Fall but unfortunately one of them passed away this year and though I’m trying I don’t really know what to say or do to help the other. Just be there I suppose, I mean five decades with another human being what could I know about that when so far as years are concerned I haven’t even been alive but 51.
Anyhow so you’re from PA, my sons have family/friends there - Pittsburgh area. I’ve only been there once. While it wasn’t especially hot I remember it being very humid, that and hilly. In parts the homes were built at such odd angles leaning into the steep. Seattle, where I once lived, has hills like that too but you don’t see homes built at a lean into them like that and wonder why there should be the need to do so in Pittsburgh?
So are you a Steelers fan? I’m not, not unless you count liking the Troy Polamalu hair shampoo commercial. We have a lot of family members here who are huge fans. I like it when they go back East because there they can get their fix far better than they ever could taking in any sports here. However then they come back and instantly begin feeling sorry for themselves what for missing soft pretzels, chipped ham, and sandwiches stuffed full of things like onion rings, hash browns – fries.
Though haven’t posted here before I usually do check this thread every day.

The History Channel show has quite good, detailed, didn't candy-coat any of his behavior. I knew CC was a religious fanatic but didn't know he was a tyranny as well. It's been a few years since I heard anything about the subject. It's truly fascinating how history evolves.

Hello and thanks for the reply. I have and app with the Doc next week to check things out but he was out of town this week. For the most part things are o.k. but I realized that this wasn't going to be a quick recovery or even be as easy to deal with. So far it has been near three months and I am just starting to drive short distances like the Doctors office grocery ect.. My back issues have come to play in my recovery but after a few sessions with pain car it seams to be working out bit by bit how ever slow it may be. I have one spot behind my knee to the inside of the left knee that has muscle cramps . Finely figuring out how to get in the family suv has become less and less of an issue, it is huge but with a few devices I am getting in and out of it fairly well. Only time will tell how it ends up, I am hoping to be back at the pool tables by the first of January so I'm crossing my fingers about that, hear is to hope. I told my Doctor he needs to re wright the booklet he has in the office that says most people are back to work in a month after surgery... no one should ever think that's a reality.
Say, I've been wondering, surely I am not the only one who has had knee surgery hear. How have any of you dealt with the after effects ? At the moment dealing with a still tender scar plus the cold weather is not making me
a happy camper. Any comments are apresheated.
Hi Rock. I had my left knee done 2 years ago this past March..I have the Stryker prosthetic in it. I went on a trip to St Croix via San Juan Puerto Rico 7 weeks post op.
I don't have any "issues" with mine other than it IS a prosthetic joint, and as such, it does not/will not ever....bend like the natural knee. With that said, I was pain free the moment I woke up....and have been ever since.
The "cold" doesn't bother it, as it is a prosthetic joint. The scar will take a year or more to feel "normal again". Nerves are cut doing that surgery & is never a guarantee to not feel some numbness. The horrible pain being gone is well worth the benefits of having a total knee done.
Everyone is unique & different, so as such, each one heals a lot differently & rehabs differently.
Try to stay as upbeat as you can & focus on the positive aspects of "I will get better & play pool in January" mindset. It is a different recovery for a total joint as opposed to any other surgeries.
This is all my own experience & opinions...and in no way dismisses anyone else's journey...just offering advice & input you asked for.
BTW I still have the right one to get done BUT I want to finish my weight loss journey, as that is a very important aspect for total knees/hips, etc.
Good luck my friend..hang in there

Just a thought for those who do celebrate Christmas, or any holiday where there are gatherings of family and friends. How has your roll changed as you have aged say from a 20 yr old to now. I assume that as kids all we do is play and maybe help put ice in the glasses or something like that. So since you became an adult how has your roll in your holiday traditions changed?

That's a fun question!
I started hosting Christmas when I was about 30, after buying my first home. I didn't know at the time it would be a tradition to last, but it has. I cook a brunch and a massive dinner. For a while I had an open door- home for my family and friends who don't have family. But have downsized back to just my family, especially since my brother and his wife have started having children. ( I have a small house) My parents used to host, and they still like to, but don't want to do it on such a large scale so they host Christmas eve with a more simple meal and my daughter and I go over there for pre-party fun.
A tradition I miss from my younger years celebrating is cooking with my Grandmother. There were certain dishes I always made with her and, while I carry on the tradition of having those dishes, I sure do miss making them with her. However, I live in her house, well, it was her house, and every once in a while when I'm cooking one of her dishes, the light over the oven flickers on and off. It's wild.

As the stages of adult have changed my Christmas traditions have as well, as well as other holidays.
When I became stupid and got married Christmas drastically changed. From my little happy family to a month of going here and there and buying gifts for everyone on earth. Me of course being the events cooridinator, of where we go and what I take. Fixing dishes for 4 different events on my ex's side plus making sure the kids had something to open at each event. Then my family event as well. Finally freedom rang (divorce) and Christmas was at Mom's and I fixed a few of her favorites. About 8 yrs ago we started having Thanksgiving at LTB's house after she got married and started having little ones. I bring 3 items and let whoever wants them take them home so I don't have to eat on it all week.
I spent my early adult years making sure everyone was happy full and content and had all they wanted for Christmas. Now days I still buy for the kids but I'm more into doing things for those who are less fortunate than my family. I love having Christmas for 1 day.
I do miss being an unadult and spending Christmas Eve with my Dad's huge family and all of my 1st and 2nd cousins. My Aunt and Grandma fixed everything none of their adult children were ask to bring anything. Mom was talking about that the other day, saying looking back she felt guilty. I guess she doesn't understand, that is what they loved to do. Take care of and fix these huge meals for their family. Miss going to church Christmas Eve night as well. Was always very moving at the end, everyone carrying a lit candle and walking out to the live nativity scene.

I don't like going out on New Years. Mostly I don't like crowds of drunk people and that's what it ends up being when I try it. I have a party with friends next weekend and it will be just us at a hotel so I don't mind that drunk crowd!

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to get photos posted here....
If, you're trying to share a photo from a website...
You have to use the lil square icon that when you roll your curser over it says INSERT IMAGE http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif And then you have put the full internet web address where the photo is sitting.
So, like the entire web address for the INSERT IMAGE icon above is this...
http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif (http://www.butchfemmeplanet.com/forum/images/editor/insertimage.gif)
I hit the INSERT IMAGE icon... and then I cut/paste that entire line above.
If you're trying to share an image of your own, that's a different process. Tell me and I'll type those directions out. Happy to do so. :)

Lyte, I'm trying to post an image from my own laptop. I would be happy for any advice that you can give me!
Grazie...
I'm on my cell phone now so my view is a limites and I can't test the various buttons BUT... lol if I recall correctly, you have to place/host your pic up on the Web somewhere... and then post it like described before... as a link. There are a lot free picture hosting sites out there. I'd recommend the one I use but it's been a while and the name is at work! Back in the day the site.... Shutter... something was popular. I forget the name! Iol
Whatever picture host site you use, be sure to use a junk email address. The site will probably ask you for an email address to confirm your a real person!
I'll be back on my work PC tomorrow and will be happy to provide that link. Lemme know of you have any other questions! :)

Now, I have lots of time to think. And feel. Nothing to do but wait. The tying up loose ends of eighty-eight years of existence is my duty to her.

i am now 72. I do miss an environment which recognizes that 55 is not 70 and the slide after 70 is nothing like 60 - 70 .
You have no idea how tiresome it is to hear younger ppl ( even 60 year olds) going on abt age being just a number.
if you are one of those "plagued elders', come contact me directly and i will explain so many things to you....most of which never occurred to you till AARP sent you an email to join up.
Some of it:
There's the first moment when the kid at the grocery counter calls you Ma'am";
the moment when you realise you can't recognise a single song at a community gay dance;
the moment when you realise those 20-somethings on the dance floor might sleep with you, once ( Just to see what it's like or maybe cause they have a tiny social conscience screw loose. ).
Sooooo....Age gracefully my darlings; accept it and the wisdom it brings as it comes and only have sex with women older than you. You'll like it. They'll like it too.
And there are some amazing 80 y/o bodies out there, or so i'm told.
