Happy Labor Day! Where in the world did summer go? Geesh......it's so true what momma said about time flying when you're, *choke* older.....
Hope everyone is relaxing......
Melancholy usually sets in for me this time of year, i have some real transitioning to do, most especially with my upcoming surgery this Friday. Hoping to not get mired down in self loathing, but seeing it as a time to redefine me, nothing major, but I have some "weeding out" to do, possibly a career change that will be dictated by my health and rehab of a new joint.
I question myself, my ability to be relationship material after being rather burned this last time, I know I'm still that invisible lesbian to most that I come in contact with....now I will appear "older" I'm afraid.....:|
ACK, I gotta get off THAT train....
Reunion bound folk, be safe, and have a fabulous time :)
Ok, back to Happy Labor day and last (unofficial) day of summertime fun!!

LipstickLola,
I can so relate to what you've written. I try every day to stay positive and know that I am lovable and desirable. Not always easy but when I don't believe it myself, I pretend that I do until I do. May sound crazy but it works for me when I need it to.

Well, I suppose there are a few of us that need to work on that! Glad I'm not alone ;). Im having hip replacement at a fairly young age, it feels very scary to think that that will have a bearing on whether or not anyone will ever want me...how I'll be "seen", if that makes sense. Always been a go getter and have been seriously side lined for the past year+, so I definitely will have some work to do!

Hello all, this is my first time posting in the loft.
It's 9:25 pm and I am contemplating going out into my LR and making another dress.
Contemplation, however, is not the same as doing it. lol.
This weekend will be busy. Saturday with Dad and then Sunday with my sister's daughter. It's her 20th birthday and the first birthday without her Mom. It's going to be rough.
Now I am contemplating what color of dress I am contemplating going out into my LR and making. Orchid, hunter green or burgandy? Hmmmm.
More than likely, I'll simply make it in the morning. I've done late night sewing projects before, and very few have turned out right the first time around. Being tired often makes for backwards sleeves and inside out bodices. They suck because you have to rip them out and do it all over again and I am the type that once I start a project like that, I have to finish it.
Still pondering about the color though...
Anyway, stay safe, sleep sweet when you get there, have a great day if you're on the other side of the world and just starting your day...take care, everybody.

Hiya Lofters :)
I went to the dentist Tuesday just gone. I worry about my teeth and hate going to the dentist. But boy oh boy am I glad I have all my teeth (with a few root canals). My mum had all hers ripped out when she was in her late teens/early 20s (now why the hell would a dentist try to preserve the teeth of a working class woman who didn't think she deserved anything better?) and my dad had all his removed in his 20s?30? So, teeth freak me out a bit.
All I had to have done though, were two fillings and one crown needing covering at the gum. My gums are in pretty good condition - almost 0% gum disease, and teeth overall are ok. Later on, I'm going to get my gold crowns replaced with porcelain and since it's so reasonable, might have a couple of veneers put on. It's one of the great things about being in Asia, the kind of teeth care I get here is really expensive back home.

........i have a very big overbite and over the years its made my bottom teeth loose so have had to have them all out. Here they do what they call "all on 4" implants which means they do 4 implants and put a fixed bridge with more teeth on, which you cant take out, on the implants. Im at the stage where ive got a temporary bridge whilst the bones regenerate at the back, i have the 4 implants and will have to have another 2 at least, but waiting for bones and healing, it will all take around l2 months or more before a final bridge can be done. And at a cost of £7,500 which is cheap for England. Its the cost of a small car.........i considered going abroad to have it done but because its done in stages, not a good idea.
My mother also had all her teeth out as a present from her father for her 21st birthday!!! In those days (she would have been 100 next year) it was considered a good thing because when a woman married, if she had dental problems, it would save the husband having to pay for that. I have seen a photo of her before she had them removed and she had beautiful teeth - what a crime!

Hi all,
I thought I'd park here for a little while, I'm quite new to BFP, and have mostly been visiting the Word Games and placing the odd post to 'initiate' myself into the world of social media. I haven't ever been involved in an interaction such as this before, I don't even have a face book account! But, after a difficult past 12 months I've decided I need to challenge myself and move out of my comfort zone and shake off the bad stuff. I'm so pleased with the contacts I've had so far, everyone has been very friendly and I can float around and have a word here and there without fear of feeling uncomfortable and be valued for my comments. I'm looking forward to future discussions, here and in other forums, and to establish friendships with people with similar interests, and in other parts of the world. And if I am slow to respond, it's because I'm still working out how to reply, add a smiley face, or attach a picture!! Thanks for your time.

Thanks, I came across this site after a friend telling me to 'move on, get out there and find some new people to have interesting conversations with'. She directed me into the very foreign direction (for me) of social media and after looking at a couple of sites, we agreed this one had the most to offer a person who was redefining and rediscovering themself - it was safe, friendly and welcoming. I kind of fell into 'the loft' after floating in and out of other forums, and enjoyed the threads I was reading. And I fitted into the age group (I like structure and guidelines!!). It's a pity I'm so far away, from what I've read about the Reunion it sounds unreal. I'll look forward to encounters and stories relived through the various posts.

Hello Lofters!
I hope you all had an awesome weekend! My weekend went quite well! Had fun with my sister Susie, as we looked after Daddy for my brother and his wife. She and I take care of him one day a week so that they (brother and sis in law) can have a day for themselves. He is not difficult to look after, but he is a two person lift in case something happens, and it's also a time where she and I can do things together. This past saturday, we also spent time with my brother, sis in law, my brother's oldest daughter, her friend, mother and daughter, (my great niece, Squishy Nose) as well. We arrived there early and they left there late, lol. Anyway, Kelsi Jo, aka Squishy Nose, made my day, crawled on my lap, called me AUNT Missy Squishy Nose and giggled, just like her mother did when she was her age (3 yrs old). In fact, Kelsi Jo looks like a clone of her mommy, Brittany Jo. ANYWAY... she was a joy! Sue and I had a good time together, though she was in lots of pain. Poor thing (tongue in cheek cause we have a somewhat morbid sense of humor when it comes to each other) recently had a gastric bypass done (Jan of this year) and decided to go for an 16 mile bike ride with her husband. She rode the first 8 miles with her breaks on, without realizing it. She worked muscles that she didn't know she had and on Sat, she was in a good deal of pain. Anyway, again, we talked, spent some time with Daddy (he loves it) and just enjoyed each other's company.
On Sunday, Susie, myself, along with our sister Karen, went to visit our oldest sister's daughter, Laura, for her 20th birthday. This was her first birthday on her own and her first birthday without her Mom. She cried when she saw us, cried when we left, but in between, she laughed, and that was a birthday gift she gave to us. Karen presented her with an afghan our sister, Laura's mother, had made for Karen for Christmas one year and the way her eyes lit up was an absolute joy to behold! If she's anything like me, she'll wrap herself in it, knowing that each and every inch of that yarn that made that afghan, went through the hands and fingers of her mother. I know that still, now, after 18 years, when I wrap myself in the afghan Mother made for me the Christmas before she died... when I close my eyes and picture my mother, crocheting it, knowing that her touch was all over it, makes it feel like she's hugging me. It's a comfort and I pray that in the coming years, Laura will take comfort, wrapped in that afghan, knowing her mother's love and feeling it in her heart.
On the ride home from our visit with Laura, it was a time for Sue, Karen and I, to bond. It's difficult, Susie is a member at the church where we grew up. Karen is a member of an ultra conservative fringe church, not a cult, but not one I would attend lol. Anyway, there we were... two married straight conservative christian women, wearing pants and tee's, and me, the lesbian, dressed in plain clothes (Mennonite clothes) and we were bonding. We (they) were speaking of obeying their husbands. I could never submit to a man, but of course, I would never marry one LOL. However, I too, believe that I, as a conservative Christian woman, am called to submit to my spouse (if I ever am blessed with one) and it encouraged me to hear them speaking about it. Sue, in fact, said that she had to insist that the word "obey" be in her marriage ceremony, because she so strongly agreed with it. Karen didn't have to insist on it, but she feels just as strongly about it. It was refreshing to be with like minded women, refreshing to hear and share in the conversation that unashamedly centered around Christ, God, faith and what we believe our roles (OUR roles) as Christian women, are. I stayed silent for most of the conversation, although they know what I believe as well. They didn''t speak of blind obedience, and they don't worship their husbnads, by FAR! LOL. But they DO love them and believe they are doing as they are called to do.
It was a GOOD weekend!
It reinforced what I already knew about myself, my family and my faith. It gave me renewed hope and it renewed my resolve and faith that there is someone out there for me. Not to complete me, but to share life with me. God complete's me.
Today was frustrating. I was supposed to have a procedure done today and it had to be postponned until the 19th. I get anxious about these procedures, because they always use general anesthesia. They use that, because they are searching for potential bleeds (I am losing iron and my hemoglobin is falling) and I am put under, in case they find something they have to take immediate action over. Each time you are put under general anesthesia, your risk of complications and not waking up, increases. It already makes my blood pressure run very very low. Like 55 over 39 low. And while I am closely monitored, it's still unnerving to have your monitor alarm shooting off it's bells and whistles everytime your blood pressure is taken. WHICH BTW, is taken every 15 minutes, unless, of course, there's problems, like low blood pressure, then it's taken as often as every 5 minutes. Which sucks.
So, instead of being put under today, I had a perfectly free day, in which, I rested. Because I was so nervous about the procedure, that I didn't sleep last night. LOL
Tomorrow, I've got some shopping to do, some sewing to do, and some cleaning to do. Nothing major, but just a busy-ful (I made that word up, of course) day!
Hope all is well with each of you and this turned into a much MUCH longer post than I had originally intended!
BTW, it didn't get out of the 70's today, which means autumn is officially close! I love autumn. I love all four seasons, my favorite is winter, but each season I find special in it's own way.
Spring, planting, the flowers, new life, an awakening, a resurection... Easter.
Summer, sunshine, warmth, lazy days by cool mountain streams, swims in the lake, fishing in the river, lightening bugs (fire flies) whiporwills, crickets, frogs and children laughing and long strolls through warm summer rains.
Autumn, harvest, thanksgiving, crisp air, falling leaves, cool breaths, the scent of fall, the violent storms (love lightening and thunder and often will simply stand outside in the middle of a storm) the slumber of nature, the orange, gold and crimson colors that turn the world into a breath taking vision of vibrant, fiery glorious colors.
Winter... Christmas, the sky, the blueness of it, no other time of year does it happen... the green of the wintergreens, the snow.. the way it wraps the world in pristine white, innocent white, making anything it touches, into a thing of beauty. The way it silences the noise of every day... cocooning us and nature in it's insulating flakes. For me, there is nothing as romantic as a stroll through a heavy snow, especially in the woods. I love it.
OK... another added missive. I am in a "verbal" mood today and am getting itchy to finish my writing project, so I can start another. I've already ended the one and started the other in my head, I just have to get it down on "paper".
Take care and have an awesome rest of your day!!

Good morning and Happy Thursday MS, LipstickLola, yotlyolqualli and Ruthie!
I am substitute dog walking this week and all next week, so I have time to pop in and say howdy!
Nice to see new folks wander in. Welcome Uniqueswtfemm, pamcat and DMW.
I hope I didn't miss anyone, I didn't scroll too far back!
Funny thing...or maybe odd. I join a dating site, cupid something or other. Just like here, you can see who visits your profile. So since I have so much time this morning I went see if there was any activity. I did have a visitor...A straight single gal:sunglass: Ok, so maybe I still am not ready to join the dating pool!

come ONnnn you peekers.... at least say HI.. lol
ever notice how there always seem to be way way more guest then members on line here?? why is that???
Jo ..... i tried cupid, i tried lesbian matchmaker annnnnd plenty of fish , and that zoo thing on FB , well all the matches they give me are all ladies, femm types... or the ones that do send me a wink or ice breaker or viewed my profile are , straights, bi curious . femme types...
then there's butchfemmematchmaker .... and well i have 734 matches there, yayyy!! all butch/tg's etc...... but no one is really even giving me a notice.. soo i dont know what im doing wrong... maybe im to old?? fat?? boring?? who knows.. i give up. id give anything to find the right one to have a long happy relationship with , have a comfy home and build a life together ,some seem to not want work on things to make the value of there realtionship stick, to build it to be a stronger bond.. some seem to throw away relationships to easily, and not except the good with the bad. They seem to want to hold out for some 100% perfect partner to come along and fall into there lap and live happly ever after. it doesnt work that way.
and so some out there just dont get it.
ok thats my thought on that.. LOL
im hanging in Clarksville TN this morning... and wlaly world here is calling my name.. and ha i think i spotted a mall across the street... but i kinda need a art supply, and im to far from my favorite art store bk in Nashville :( ahh well.

Hello! New to BFP, 53 year old Femme from southern Delaware - hello! I was actually directed to BFP because of the "fine wine" forum - I asked "where are the older butches and femmes?!?" on a facebook page and was lucky enough to be directed here!

LOL well, if you haven't done so already, please make sure that the word "butch" is in your profile because it's hard as anything to find butches there, but I did discover a keyword search that you can use, and have been finding at least some profiles of interest (including the sweet butch I'm currently dating) but still, most of the profiles that come up are saying "No butches" or "I'm looking for a butch." You'd likely have better luck with Femme as a keyword! And if you happen across one in Delaware... ;)

LOL! Funniest dating site story was when a generic lesbian friend came over to my house after being dumped by the woman she was dating, and immediately started looking through one of the dating sites. She got all excited about one particular profile -- same area she was in! so many of the same interests! funny! seemed intelligent!!
It was the profile she'd posted the year before and forgotten about. She wanted to date herself.

Really? LOL! Yanno, I have messaged several women and never get a response, probably because of my Butch presence. It is discouraging as it is very hard to send a note to a complete stranger and then not get a response. Not even a I don't date Butch Women. Now I am gonna have to go see who has visited my profile! Try finding a Butch woman, willing or interested in dating a femme who also happens to be Mennonite and dresses like one. lol That's discouraging and it's even worse when people say, "maybe you should rethink "dressing" the part". To me, that's like saying I should change who I am, my values, traditions, culture and beliefs, JUST to find a partner.
I'm me and I won't change for anyone. Even if it means spending the rest of my life alone. Wearing plain clothes isn't a fashion statement or a preference... it's a way of life, a code of conduct, a statement of faith. Denying it would be like denying a very integral part of who I am.
Never having a once in a lifetime love, is far better than living a lie and never truly loving myself because of it.

yotly.... im at a wow, may I ask.. forgive me if im asking a crazy question... how does the mennonite culture feel of queer women??
They don't particularly welcome me with open arms LOL!
Let me say though, that there ARE Mennonites who either silently and some verbally, include and even move to openly include GLBTQ members of the community. I can say, pretty assuredly though, that those who do, are more progressive in their thinking, but also in their style of dress and their practice of the faith.
If you saw me on the street, you would notice me, because I dress very conservatively... similar to Amish style clothing. However, if you saw me in a group of conservative Mennonites or Amish, you would not be able to tell me apart from them. But neither by myself, nor with a group of Mennonites, would you ever be able to tell that I am gay. I can't/don't wear jewelry of any kind, so... identifying myself with rainbow jewelry is out. I only have one dress that's a printed cotton, and it's very light pastel colors on a white background. So, wearing rainbow colors is out.
Wearing plain clothing is rather a contradiction. We are to set ourselves apart from the rest of the world... we are called to be a "pecular" people, not conforming... so we do not, I do not, wear what other "english" people wear. I want to be set apart from them, as I feel I am called to be. However, having said that.. part of dressing plain, without alot of bells and whistles, not only covers the whole modesty issue, it also covers the "not drawing special attention to yourself through your appearance" issue. While we are to set ourselves apart from the world, we are not suppose to be vain enough, to want to draw attention to our personal appearance, thus avoiding vanity and pride.
Wearing jewelry, makeup, would be conforming, wearing loud prints and colors would be drawing attention LOL
So....
As far as community... even though I am not welcomed into membership at any Mennonite church in my area (there's about 20 in a 20 miles radius) doesn't make me any less Mennonite. It's how I was raised, how I believe and how I live my life. Old fashioned doesn't even begin to describe it.
But as for dressing like I do.... and I do do it for the afore mentioned reasons... there's also something else. Something inside of me... and it is also taught, but perhaps not with the "kinky" twist that I perceive LOL...
My body is to be covered modestly.. that is why I wear the dress, the caped apron (full body apron) and the tights... all of that. But also... I like the entire idea of saving my body, not allowing anyone who is not my spouse, to see my body, to see the sexual, the sensual.. that is for my spouse and my spouse alone to see. The same with my "uncovered" head... only my spouse should see that.. and I'll go further and say only my spouse should see my "crowning glory" (Biblical reference) which is my hair... down.
As an aside.... most Amish women, barring medical purposes, have never ever had their hair cut, trimmed or in any way shortened. By the time they get to their 20's, their hair can reach their feet! It was the apostle Paul that said that a woman's hair was given to her for a "crowning glory". But that's a whole other ball of wax.
Take care MS and thanks for the interest!

I had joined a different dating site. I specifically put "Femme" as part of my user name, in my profile I wrote that I was attracted to butch women, not feminine women like myself and it pretty much worked.
A few femmes responded anyway (why? I don't know) but for the most part, my responses were mostly from butches. The site is chock-full of femmes, some with user names like: looking4mybutch. Couldn't be more clear, I'd say!

I can see that would be hard. I can't imagine being a Butch Mennonite! All that aside, I do believe that it is what is inside a Femme that makes her attractive, not the outer shell/ clothing.
Like my Old School self, I have my own quirks that seem out dated to many, but it is me and that is something I won't change. Some folks can do things like casual sex, heck I will not even answer sex related kinds of questions on the on line dating sites, too personal. I want to get to know someone BEFORE I get to know them... in that biblical sense;) See, now that is attractive, keeping your values because they are you:)

Hello Lofters! Hope your weekend is an awesome one!!
As for my name.. it is two seperate words in the Nuahtl language. The language still being used today in the Aztecan-Ute tribes of Native Americans.
A woman who I met online, a Native woman, by the name of XOtzin, gave me this name. We had been friends for a while and she came through HELL and back in the short time I knew her. Part of her transformation, was becoming more directly involved in tribal matters and ceremonies. She began to dance and now teaches it! Anyway, in the course of the time we were close, she was preparing to go "up on the hill". Those who do so, in her tribe, take a ceremonial blanket with them. She asked me to make her one. I agreed, asking her how it should look. As was XOtzin, she said.. figure it out lol. SO, after doing some research, I crocheted her an afghan. On it, I placed medicine wheels, in colors of the four directions and an image kept coming into my head. I thought it was the sun and I crocheted what I saw in my head. In the end, it looked like a spider. I was kinda worried, because I had wanted it to look like the sun. I sent it to her and it got there JUST IN TIME for her to pick it up on her way to ceremony, which was in NM... she lives in CO. She did not open the package until she got there. When she did, she was amazed. It seems, unbeknownst to me, because she never indulged the information... that while she is of the Lakota tribe, she is of the Spider clan.
Yeah.
When she came home, she insisted I had a Native soul and she gave me a name. The original name she gave me, in Nuahtl, was Yolchipahualitzli, and even she couldn't pronounce it. LOL So, she came up with a name that meant basically the same thing.
Yotl Yolqualli. Yotl, in Nuahtl, means essence of woman and Yolqualli means purity of heart.
Yot sounds like the beginning syllable of hot-el. But, instead of the "tel"... you simply add the "l" sound... Yol...like the yolk of an egg... qualli.... sounds like kwally... Yotl Yolqualli.
Having said all of that...lol. My given name is Malissa. My family and my "before" friends (before I came out) call me Missy (or Aunt Missy or Grandma Missy), however... my chosen family and my "after" friends, all call me Lissa... short for Malissa... and that is the name I prefer and go by IRL. So please, feel free to use the Yotl Yolqualli name or any shortened version of it, or Lissa!
Take care!

So I got up at 5am babysat from 6-10, then 11 - 3... got my other clients at 11:15 (had all three together)... took them all to lunch and dollar store. Worked with clients till 4:30. I am glad for the money, but I am one tired chica!!! Managed to meet a friend a few minutes away to walk around an Irish festival around 6 tonight..we watched the sunset over the delaware, had a drink at an Irish pub.. and I was home by 8:30. ..

Got up this morning and did a thorough cleaning of my apartment... including scrubbing my kitchen floor on my hands and knee's.. it's not that big but my knee's protested mightily.. they insist they are getting too old for such abuse LOL
Anyway... it's done, I can relax and enjoy the rest of my day with an eased conscience!
Have a great day and week, fellow lofters!

Can I say that stuff like this ......
" If anybody On I-70 heading towards Terra Haute, In u might wanna find a alternate route, I been sit'n n left lane since 6:30 an looks to be here all night, Wreck is at MM-12, talk on radio said multiple fatalities, few big trucks n cars involved...""
I dont know how many times in the past 7 yrs , being a truck driver I have encountered things like this .....
It really makes you appreciate each day your able to wake up and enjoy another day of your life. And be grateful for it.

I was getting ready to respond to a post from Anya - and as I was typing the title: 40's 50's and over - I was stopped right in the middle of stroking the "0" key in 50 - the next two words "and over"
40's 50's and over -------------how dreadful that sounded - I'm closer to the "over" part of the title and yet I don't in any way feel that I'm going to be over.
I'm newly single - this should be 40's 50's and just beginning....I like that a lot better :jester::hk34::huhlaugh::thumbsup::ballcat:

sitting in my tiny "garden", drinking coffee, listening to Los Llaveros playing on the stereo next door and trying to wrap my brain around the fact that life changes on a dime. a single dime. i dont feel older. i never feel older. and today i feel younger. but younger of the unenlightened and completely lost variety and all i can think is 'why dont you know this stuff yet? you're wasting time potschkeing around. you need a plan. you need a direction. you need a life!' oy. how do people do it?

Oh and just to clarify - I'm not looking for love right now, just a sweet butch-with-benefits until I've fully unraveled this unholy mess of a marriage I got myself into (just 24 days until he hopefully closes on his house and MOVES OUT, and then I'll finally file for divorce!!). And yes I am seeing a very sweet butch at the moment but getting the feeling that she's not going to be continuing that for long :(
I'm just... Contemplating the future.

Oh yes, she ::ahem:: dances very well!! ;) I just think the distance between us is a big barrier to it going anywhere -- and is likely going to be a barrier for a lot of people I might meet, because there just aren't any butches around here that I've found (as others here from this area has attested to!), and I'm not willing to move since my grandkids are here and I have a great job that I hope to stay with until retirement (which is a MUCH bigger issue at this age and in this economy), and yet I can't reasonably expect that anyone's going to want to move here (not that I'd be willing to jump off THAT bridge any time soon, anyway!). And yet I also can't reasonably expect someone to accept a long-term long-distance relationship.
Ah, well, I don't want to sound as if I'm whining, which I'm really not, just being pragmatic.

Long-distance relationships CAN work. There are plenty of blossoms here on bfp who have/are in successful ones (I think there's a LDR thread). Don't count it out! :)

LadyRieinAL, it was really nice to hear your interpretation of the title to this thread. I think we should take a vote to change the title of this tread...as long as the tread starter doesn't mind.
It is true isn't it? We are as young as we feel and think. You have a good attitiude. Me...not so much. Nice to hear your positive spin though. It is funny cause i am the 40 something and i bet i feel and think and act older than ancient.
Aw, now i am getting all soft about this...

You have got to get yourself some of these if you are scrubbin a floor on your hands and knees like that.

You must...it's like being in a confessional without em. That smarts!
I did tile without them once and that hurts! I mean that hurts! I remember a girl i was with once
was on the floor doing that and i was like...you did what? I swear i should have done more
mopping of that house than i did. Still bothers me now cause i bet she did it more than the time i found out that she did. That really does hurt. Use a towel or something.
I hope you can get these for yourself.

Ruthie, I just know there is an untethered soul out there for you. If you know what her deal is and it isn't want you want/need, don't settle. Keep true to yourself. I know I have been single for longer than I have ever been. I broke someones heart because I was still not ready to make that forever after commitment.... I still am not as I haven't resolved messing up my previous relationship. Keep what you want in the forefront of your mind and it will happen, I am sure of it. That is what keeps me sane during my singledom. :)

One was standing at my door panhandling4 money .... I went in bk ignoring him. 2 hrs later im getting out if truck, to head across lot and into WAL Mart. well here all 3 guys strolling across , hollering at me ... to come here , blah .. blah .. I kept walking , got to WAL Mart, watching where they were and went... they hung at end if lot... by some cars. Then headed into the woods, where there is a creek .... all 3 .. pal,d together... reading .... think its time I head to little rock.
..... there is the most Awsome BBQ place here... very nice new authentic building ,etc.
Jim n nicks .....
I told thm as well about this so they.r aware
The bartender told me ther seems to b a community if homeless living in tents in these woods here , somtimes they give t leftover foods. And let thm use water hose ..
But will keep in mind what just happens to me.

Awww thanks Morning star..if I had known... maybe next time. Weird about Walmart...and a little scary too. Have fun at the reunion!!! Keep us updated!
Well , I finally got the authorization for my medicine. Will be taking it shortly!!Hopefully it will help. Feeling it a lot in my throat and vocal cords so even though i want to rehearsal I sang very little. I am going to try to rest it the next couple of weeks as best as I can. Drinking aloe gel in water.. foul tasting stuff, but should help heal everything up. Crossing my fingers. Took 10 days for me to get that drug.. at 138.00 for 30 days. I will raise some hell if my vocal cords don't recover! May be bleeding in my stomach somewhere as well. Hoping the Aloe helps with both, otherwise it's back to the dr and more tests. JUST what I need!
Have a great night and a lovely weekend all!

Good morning lofters!
sooooooooooooooooo had the procedure done on wednesday. I kind of get a kick out of the anesthisia teams everytime they put me under. They ask me.."ever had problems with anesthesia before?" my answer is always... my blood pressure runs low with it.
Apparently, they never believe me because they always wake me up with a "boy! you weren't lying!" and this time.. I had to be medicated to get my blood pressure to come up a bit. My syst. number fell down to 50. They didn't say how low the actual b/p went, but when the upper number falls to 50, they get scared.
Anyway... they have discovered a small peptic ulcer, not large enough to be causing the extreme iron defiency nor the falling hemoglobin, but they also discovered a fissure... so... it's back to the surgeon.
I hate being put under, hate the feeling...my last concious thought is always, "please God, make sure I wake up". I hate the feeling that invokes.
I also hate the time it takes for me to get over being anesthesized.
I hope everyone there has an awesome time in LR, and I hope everyone else has an awesome weekend!! Take care,

My singing lesson for this morning was cancelled so I suppose there's no putting off the housework (yucky housework - how come I can't do it just once?!). It's overcast and has been raining so that means Madam Puppydog won't be getting her shower today. I have to catch up on my study and that's about it. I just turned 54...geez who can believe that (not me)/ I have learned to take it easy as I don't really have the stammia to do the things I used to do. The last job I had, my youmg bosses expected me to work like the rest of the 20 year olds...not gonna happen. I have now moved to Nebraska to take care of mom. Life has slowed down quite a bit.....I'm liking it.

This video is fun ... fashion at an older age. It takes money dress the way these women do, but what I do like is that they haven't botoxed their ages off their faces. And, they're happy and comfortable expressing who their are regardless of their age.

So...I have been walking around in pain for the past few days. I finally realized it was because of all the dancing at the Reunion. I guess the alcohol dulled the pain, but now that I am back to work...OW. Just another reminder that I am about to turn 45.

I am glad you are going in Ruthie. I hope you don't take anything to cause the bleeding...like ibuprophen and plavix...i don't know if you are on plavix but, that can cause it too. i haven't had a chance to read all about it...i have been watching. worried face...i am sure that the dr's have checked to see what drugs could be upsetting or possibly causing the bleeding. I realize you aren't bleeding anymore but, good to find out why..
Not anemic is good...chrons and celiac..humm. Meaning, i doubt you have those issues because you are not anemic..phew

I was soooo happy that I could dance as much as I wanted. And I wasnt in too much pain the next day. Maybe its because I wore somewhat sensible shoes. (and the alcohol?)
I can't believe I'm happy I wore sensible shoes. Gah!

It may be an ulcer. I have cronic reflux (born with it) so all that extra acid could be causing the trouble. I also have celiac but have been wheat free for about 6 years, so I shouldn't be having trouble there. Of course, it could have caused damage the rest of the 40 plus years I didn't know I had it.
Anyway, got an appt for October 18th so I will find out more then. I'm sure I will end up with tests, but at least we may find out what is going on!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello all, Happy Sunday! Going to a dance in Philly today. Should be a lot of fun. Some people I know, some I don't.. It's a at lesbian club called Sisters and the dance is the "Back in the day" dance... music starts from the 60's and moves up to today. Love it!

Question for the butches:
Had a great time at the dance. Met (actually remet) a nice butch woman. She seems sweet and assertive ...2 traits I admire in a butch. We danced a couple slow dances..we dance well together. That doesn't always happen. She is a little older than I usually would date, but her smile and personality drew me right away. I had seen her at Sister Space, but I was busy chasing someone and she was busy chasing someone.. lol sooooooooo .. we never got to know each other better. She just got home from the dance and already sent me an email and asked me to go out with her this week. How about THAT!! Nice to have someone want to be with you that much! Now the question is , do I contact her tonight..or be a little coy and girly and wait a day? Ok Butches... advice please. I don't want to appear too anxious, but I don't want her to feel like I'm not interested. What do you think?

Not to derail but this made me smile. I haven't been to the Weekend in a dozen years since the timing is terrible for me (right after school starts) but I was heavily involved with SisterSpace and the Weekend for many, many years when I lived in Philadelphia. In fact, a moment at a SisterSpace weekend features prominently in my stories of coming into my own Femme identify. So glad to hear of someone who is still going there - and glad to hear that there are butch/femme chasings and sightings going on!!

Ok, when you email or text someone, do you want them to respond when they can, or wait until they get around to it? It's one thing to not check your messages, but another to ignore them. You received the message, so why not respond to it?

I think the best advice I can offer a femme is to be YOU. No facade, no "lemme try to be who they want", no games (unless they are games you are both into). JUST BE YOU. After the wooing, YOU is what remains, so why not start off with that? Plus, having met in person, I think YOU is wonderful

Apparently, this woman doesn't share your opinion. I am ok, I guess, but the fact that my mother shares my home (mind you she is independent, healthy, is not here 2x's a week, very accepting of me and my friends/gf etc) and that I have a dog... well, that put the brakes on it. Wow... really?
Oh well, such is my love life recently....
on top of that, my dog has been ill the last 24 hours. Was trying to figure it out... finally I realized my mother had given her a steak bone from her dinner last night. Bella has a very sensitive tummy and cannot eat but very spacific things. So here I am, up late, washing her bedding, cooking rice and will have to get up early to cook her chicken (had to get it out of the freezer and is just starting to thaw) so she can have it for breakfast. She is still throwing up. I am exhausted! Only had Sunday afternoon off from working and will work straight through to the weekend. 2 jobs on tues and thursday. urrrrggggg

Poor baby. I am sorry to hear things aren't great. I am a big fan of being real. I have major highs and major lows. If someone only sees one or the other, they don't know ME. I figure, put it all out there and the ones who are skeered aren't the "right" people to be in your inner circle. Sometimes people just need to absorb for a bit and then they come to their senses.
I'm also wishing your pup a better tummy.
HUGS

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to be part of this group as well...
I'm 49 and am having a great time and a hard time with myself right now...lol
I'm in transition, I moved last year, downsizing since I'm now an empty-nester (but that's getting easier)...I'm in a healing place right now, as far as my heart is concerned and I'm really needing/looking for a safe/comfortable place in our community, if you will. This feels like that place.
So, I hope it's okay if I stay awhile...?

That's screwed up. Family comes first in my book. In fact I had this conversation with my hairdresser about dating and family. My family accepts anyone I date and some of my ex's stay in contact with me and them. Family is very important to me and truth is I'd rather be with family when i have time off work. So if my partner can't dial into this whole family thing then we won't be moving into the future. I also prefer to be with someone who has strong family ties but also know that some families are not as accepting as mine.
I'm sorry to hear about Bella. hugs she will be fine.
Ruthie I know how you feel, really I do. I've been a lone and single for a while now. I just refuse to settle. I prefer meeting everyone as friends and I'm slow going. Focus on your friendships and building deep wonderful bonds. Woman's space is just so nice sometimes. Make time for it. I'd love to meet up with you for something. You're not that far. Maybe a nice half way point some of us could meet up and enjoy the fall colors.
Be good to yourself. You're an amazing person.

Thanks everyone. It just gets so frustrating sometimes. Sachita... I totally agree with you. That is usually how I operate. I would love to meet you sometime. That sounds like fun!
Dyke... YOU are so right! I should have listened to you...but I really think the other one is NOT in market for a gf.
Bella is doing much better. Stayed up most of the night with her, changing the towels I put in her crate several times, washing them, cooking rice and chicken etc. Went to bed when I thought it had calmed down, but there was more in the am. So I did more laundry. She is feeling much better!!!!!!!!! No more problems today. Ate her rice and chicken with no problems. She is resting a lot, but that is probably a good thing. Mom is going to take her to the vet on Thursday to check her out. She was suposed to be 4 1/2 when we adopted her last year, but she has since gone totally blind from cateracts (sp?) and is having joint issues. My little girl is probably more like 12 or 13.
I think there is a picture of her in galleries.
ttyl,

OK, honest opinions requested: 53 yo wearing her roller derby shirt to her jeans-and-t-shirt high school gathering. Too attention seeking (though I mean it as only a combination of conversation-starting and "hell yeah I love derby!" not "look at me!" since I'm definitely not looking to be an attention-seeker in this crowd!) or cool? Honest responses, please - I'm packing tonight and trying to decide what to wear to this casual event!

I found out when I went out on the road. alot of woman think being a trucker is sexy !. who knew? but it is hard to find that one lady who can deal w u beaing away for so long.It woudl be nice to find a lady who shares the same job.Good luck out there and be safe..smiles..

I'm allowed to be sleepy, it's nearly 11pm Wednesday for me. The cat is bothering the hell out of me - either she's hungry or she wants me to go to bed. Not sure if that's related to being 40+ or not but never mind right? :)

Hi everyone, it's Saturday afternoon here. Got a list of things to do but haven't done any of them yet! Most of all, had better not forget I'm going out to one of my schools this afternoon. Really had better get my arse into gear if I'm to get my dog and cat to the vet and post something to Handsome.
Hope you have a great weekend.
Oh yeah, Mr Nobody, talking about snow seems so weird. Being in a country of two seasons - Rainy Season and Not Rainy Season will do that to you (maybe I've been here too long already).

Yeah, i am not so much of a sharer. I am greedy when it comes to sharing myself. I am hungry now that you mentioned it and i wrote about it. I wonder what you are going to have for breakfast? I would love a stack of blueberry pancakes and maple syrup and a few fried eggs...and orange juice and coffee.
Truck stop breakfasts are the best. Usually.
What are you going to have?

Well all of those breakfasts sound good! Hmmm wonder where Morningstar disappeared to?
I used to make eggs benedict for my ex - maybe that's when she fell in love with me because I said it was my favourite as well and that I would make it for her. And I did. Many times. *sigh*
Anyone got any aching bits at the moment? Not those aching bits you naughties (mind you, there is something to be said for a Sunday morning ...). My back is aching from sitting up in bed and using my laptop. Even if I change my position it doesn't let up. :(

Those naughty aches are the best ;) My whole body aches right now but my legs really ache and sometimes give out on me when I walk. I had to get up to feed my cats so I decided that I'd stay in the living room since thats where my computer is and its closer to the kitchen where the cats eat so I didn't have as far to go

Good Morning Lofters & Peekers:
Hope everyone is having an awesome Sunday brunch, or breakfast...
It is a beautiful day here on the Island! Low 70's, humidity is tolerable!
Yesterday went across bridge to run errands, saw 5 or 6 dolphins frolicking in the waters! I made THREE, yes THREE passes to see them again! The girl went nuts, as she spotted them first!!! Can you say squeeeellllll!!
Last pass I pulled down into the boat ramp to watch those creatures herding their fish!!
I have seen so many dolphins the last few days!!! I LOVE when I cross the bridges off the Island to the mainland and am able to see them.
Enjoy your day everyone.
