omg - I'm feeling my age!
was at the school all day since I was volunteering for an event. I was fine until the last hour when my back just decided it had enough. Home now - nice long hot shower (no bathtub!) then going to crawl into bed early. Hopefully I'll be able to get some schoolwork done tomorrow.

Today is the Feast Day of St Joseph....All of the Italians..I am speaking for
my self...buy pastries that are called St Joseph cakes....which in Italian is Zeppoli......these pastries are made with rigotta cheese or vanilla...and they are so dam good! ....I bought the rigotta cake....mmm...they only have these

I miss zeppoli. You make them differently in Jersey. Here they are a hallow pastry shell (fried or baked) filled with rum flavored yellow cream, topped with powdered sugar and a cherry.
Of course I say here meaning Rhode Island where I was born and raised. Here on Cape Cod, where I have lived for 30 plus years, there are no Italian bakeries. As a matter of fact, I think I might be the only Italian in a 50 mile radius. :| And here, they think zeppoli(e) is fried bread dough - back home we call those doughboys.
I miss my people and their traditions.

exactly...I forgot to mention they are made hollow stuffed with ricotta and vanilla inside..every place is different what they call it...my grandmother used to make fried dough..she call it Scrupelles...that's the Abruzzi saying for it....

Any one out there do mosaic also? Any tips you have will be gratefully acknowledged.

Hey all you Fabulous Lofters!
Yes, it's been a while, had some health issues that really made it hard to be in here on a regular basis. It's nice to have coffee, read the posts and catch up on others who are Older and Wiser. (We like to think wiser, that's my story and I'm sticking to it).
Jrzy, those ricotta cakes and Italian special pastries for St. Joseph's day sound deelish. One thing we don't have is any good Italian pastries here. Can't get a decent canoli here to save my life.
Well, just putting a toe in the water, nice to see you all here, many I remember, new faces. And I see some of you are happily couple up now too. Good deal.
Ta Ta for now, see you soon. Blessings to all.

I love your project and plans photos Sweet Bliss. Keep them coming.
No more Tarotscopes here and I forget to log in and say hi, sorry. Hello to everyone.
I'm waiting on company and their plans this week. They are from PNW and are really enjoying the warm weather here although I am dreading the increasing heat. We have already had 95 degrees a few days last week. Spring just arrived and summer is shoving her out of the way. Have a safe and Cool week Lofters.

(f)Morning Lofters!!! Thank you Galahad for the kind response.
Please note I have no idea how to do Flickr yet, surprise surprise, lol, but I did upload more pics. I even arranged them a little!
I think keeping track is helping me see where I have issues finishing things. Or overloading myself with projects.
I need to stop creating projects for a while until I catch up... ya think?? lol
Okay, time to see what I can get into next.

Do I remember St.Joseph days,my grannie would cook for a week before the day came as well as so many others in our Italian community...so much food, way more than any ohther day. When grannie passed my cousin Josephine took over putting them on,now that she has passed on recently at 100yrs old I have no idea who will do it now.My fave was the hay stacks, then mom would bake italian cookies then I would put the diffreant color iceing on them wich are fantasstic with a good cup of coffee.Oh,and welcome to the list and bringing good memories to mind.

Where are the Photos of your kitchen redo???? I wanna see whatcha got so far.... google "boho kitchen", that's what I stare at when I want inspiration, or "boho home", I sit and dream and drool over the fabulous designs and colors. And I also love to drool over the vintage retro look, someone posted a pic of a white "farm sink", I about fainted with joy, it looks just like the one my grandparents had in their kitchen years ago.... didn't know you could get a new one!!
I like the open shelf style in some of those kitchens. It allows a more decorative approach, showcasing antique or collector pieces, or just family heirlooms. And allows more room for your eyes to roam and relax. Feels less formal, relaxed more than boxed up in cabinets. Geez, I could talk about this stuff all day.... can you tell? lol :phonegab:
Okay, next topic, how's everyone doin'?
Got plans for all my goodies, so need to get moving on it before I run out of energy!! :wateringgarden:

Morning Lofters and peepers :pirate-steer: Second day of nasty rain storm, lightening, wind, falling tree branches and searching for MiMi who was out all night in this nasty weather. I found her screaming my name from under the neighbors cute shed with the porch.... omg. she was soooo pitiful... I managed to get her to jump up on the fence back into our yard, covered her up in warm clean towel and brought her in. Binkie was chatting away to her, Zoe came running to see her, they all ate breakfast together and are now napping. Poor Bink. She gets so upset when MiMi is not home at night. She went out in the rain with me to find MiMi, hollering the whole time...am guessing she was calling MiMi to her.
We are all snuggled in for the day. Looking forward to reading, watching movies and generally being useless all day. Made scrambled eggs with toast, one slice of bacon, and onion, ham, mushrooms in the eggs, and a slice of American cheese over the top, melted. Yumm. Won't be hungry until dinner time.
Am still coughing up junk, not much energy, chest aching from coughing. Not fun when you are put together with baling wire.
Mechanic came over yesterday while the sun was out, I think he finished putting in the carborator already, was just putting in pole to hold onto air filter thingie, and another adapter for something else, no, don't remember what he said. No biggie, it just needs to work so I can leave asap.

Good morning Lofters and Peeps! :hangloose:
Another beautiful day in the Sunshine State, birds looking for goodies, cats looking for Birds, dogs barking at cats, peeps yelling "STFU" at dogs.
Ah, another glorious day in my hood... :seeingstars:
Well, still feel like road kill, hoping this will pass soon... I miss my energy. Had a good talk with roomie about the cookie situation, seems they are not to be shared... kind of an alien concept to me, but it's not about me. So am looking for a receipe to make sharable cookies. Something with molasses, yum.
So anyhoo, how is everyone today? So many birthdays lately! What fun! I shall eat cake in everyone's honor, and yes, will share with whomever visits me while there is still a slice left, lol. Hurry.
Deprivation during childhood is a serious topic. It probably effects 98% of all adults deprived as children. Think about it. What did you feel deprived of? Love? Attention? Hugs? Stuff? Food? Clothes? Shoes? Quality time? Dad? Mom? Toys? We could make a thread outta this ya know.
I would venture to say that it is the root cause of addictions and mental illness.
Remember, it's just a thought, I'm pointing my own fingers at myself. :pointing:

Sweet Bliss, those were wonderful. The photos of Apple were just what the heart needed, and a great new poetry site. I love to actually hear the words read aloud for a change. Reading aloud to myself isn't the same. Thank you very much.

:bunchflowers: Good Morning Lofters and Peepers!!
Thanks Morning Star, Did I tell you Morning Star is my daughter's name? We call her Danica.
Well, am painting like a fiend today, got my 6 tires yesterday for Grace.
Gots lots of tossing to do again today. Gonna get my insulation at Lowe's today, it finally came in. Might pick up my lumber stuff at the same time.
Weather is lovely today, hope I can spend most of it outdoors.
Next week hopefully Grace will have her new shoes on, can fill her up and move closer to the house so I can use my power tools. Screwing all those screws is hard on my hands. AND maybe I can get it all done before the end of April... anyone wanna help me??? I'm a good cook. I have magic hands.
No biggie. Have done it all for the last 30 years. I'm a femmebutch. New gender title. I made it up.
Well, gonna go check my painting, should be dry enough for a second coat in a few, need more coffee...
:byebye: Happy Sabbath ya'll !!:bunchflowers:

Yep. Painting. Put the edges on the shelves this morning, should be dry enough to put back in closet in a few hours. Just finished painting the inside of the hall closet. It was so gross and dark in there, NOW it is a soft buttery yellow. Can't reach the ceiling or above where top shelf is supposed to go, but found the stool so I can get up there.
Taking a break for a minute. or tewww!!
Am stewing this morning over a conversation I had last night. But contrary to my usual knee jerk reaction I'm not gonna post it all over the place. Am gonna wait until I come to a conclusion about what it all means to me.
Right now I'm just going to say.... no. It's a complete sentence dontcha know.
Oh, and painted two coats of palest yellow on my foot board I scored on the side of the road couple of weeks ago. It's either a queen or full wood head and foot board. Forgot to measure it. I should do that today. It's fabulous, very heavy, and has the six foot spires on the corners. I can hardly wait to do the head board and use it!!! Let's see what else? Oh, am almost done with the Frog sleeping in the hammock for the garden. He is so freakin cute now. He was an ugly grey green, now he's sporting orange burmuda shorts, blue shirt and mottled green skin. And he has eyes now to look around for bugs. Yes I will post a pic when I am done.
Okay, gonna get something to eat, leftover meatloaf probably.
Glad Mr. Leonard is taking good care of you. It's quite a treat to have someone dote on you isn't it?? Could not be more deserving than you Ms. Star.

Morning Lofters!! Morning Lookie Loos!!
Am super excited today :hangloose: Grace's new :blueheels: arrived this morning already, later this week someone will slip her :blueheels: on her so we can hit the road again.
Picked up her winter blankets (insulation) so now the giant task of lining her has begun. Will do the ceiling first, then the walls. I have a tentative plan on how to attach it. Hope it works!! We shall see. The packages were HUGE, I had no idea. Never worked with insulation before now. I'm learning all kinds of new stuff.
Okay, gotta run, got loads to do today :byebye:

Not gonna be doing much of anything for the rest of the week. Took a nasty spill late last night on the driveway. Tore up my right knee and arm. Can hardly get to the loo let alone get off it. Lord...(w)
So anyhoo. went to ER, they say nothing is broken, but I don't know, pain is not something I deal with well. So gonna be kinda whiney for a while, just ignore me. :seeingstars:
Won't be doing cartwheels for a while.

I've wondered lately why do we get hurt so much more as we age? We are smarter now, right? Sorry to hear some of you are down. Morningstar, I like Mr. Leonard's arthritis recipe. Try it for awhile and let us know. I don't use alcohol often, but if it works, it could be healthier than pain killers.

Ha! have figured out how to prop my knee and goof off on the threads!!
Yes, I am a BFP junkie. Love yakking bout nuttin.
Oh how I enjoy a fresh cuppa tea Ms Star. Such a nice way to begin or end the day.
Today I think I'm gonna try and set up a painting station for myself. Got loads of little things to paint, might as well do them while I can't walk around much.
I am none too thrilled that I'm gimpy, can't get into Grace to start putting up insulation. Gives me more time to figure out how to do it. Well, anyhoo, I don't have much to gab about this am. Gonna make a roast for dinner I think. I made a chicken stew Monday, gave the girls some stew juice for their kibble, they love my cooking.
Okay, I have no idea where everyone is lately, seems lots of folks are moving, getting together, busting up, changing jobs, graduating from school, continuing school, banging up body parts, and all manner of things.
It must be Spring.
Bo chased the bad kitty out of my yard again this morning, she was so happy to chase something!
Well ya'll stay in one piece okay? Safety first!!

I barely rolled out of bed this morning. I am on the short side so the goober sisters keep hitting my bad knee with their 2x4 tails.... oh ya, mucho hurto. Now if I had cha whoa whoas instead of giant goober Italian Mastiff and Yellow Lab, they would smack my ankles instead. That I could stand.
Oh well. They come in real handy when strange men are around working. :jester: It's called the FEAR FACTOR.
Well, things should get into gear soon. I am hoping to tie down all the loose furniture in Grace soon so I can get her new :blueheels: on, and fill her up with go juice :koolaid:.

Strong Butch is having fun recovering from a fractured pelvis I read, must be some kind of warped constellation doing the Macarena. Good grief. Hello Charming Lee and Heavenly Angel, ya'll need to drop by more often, I miss the activity that used to be here. Must be Spring FEVER.
Well, getting down to the wire, still not done. Have lots to do yet. Maybe I will go hang at the Beach and do the interior between dips. Or maybe I'll just take a nap under a palm and work on Grace at night... maybe someone could drop by and share a beer or two??
Oh well. I'm tired, gonna go lie down and rest my knee and watch stupid movies for a bit.

Oh, speaking of knees, mine is complaining again. Drove Grace to fill her up, my knee is screamin' now. I am short and can't reach the accelerator easy without tensing my whole leg. Freakin AAAAA it hurts. Gonna purchase one of those foot pedal extensions.... Or I will never be able to drive her.
Lordy.
Welcome Fayedoll, I have often wondered how poly works. Never done it myself, have often thought about living with 2 or more friends, like a commune kinda thing. If the right balance was struck it would be kinda nice to have nice folks around to share your life and home with. Kind of like 'The Waltons' I'm thinking. Or Little Women. Or some other sweet rated 'G' movie.
Swiss Family Robinson or something. A girl can dream can't she?
Well, am making roast for dinner, all the trimmings, a salad for me.
Not much interested in heavy food when spring hits. Tried that Greek yogurt, boy is THAT good!

Sweet Bliss...I'm trying to understand the difficulty in getting your insulation to stay on the ceiling...and I know you are probably giving me a look at this moment.."laughing".....the foam is easier and I'm not sure if it's less expensive or not but let me know...maybe I have some suggestions.
Thank you Sweet Salty Butch!
I will chat with you tomorrow okay? It's waaaay past my bedtime, need my beauty rest, hee hee, thank you for your offer of assistance (f)
:vigil: Nighty Night ya'll... I'll get the coffee started in the mornin'...

I haven't come to terms with being 50. I'll be 51 next month and coming to terms with that is hard too. I'm lucky because most people think that I am 30...as for the behavior part, 20's sound good to me!
I hope everyone is having a nice day

Sweet, I don't know what type of insulation that you have, but you might consider using some cheap paneling under the insulation, to help keep the insulation up where it belongs. Mind you, then you are liable to have to figure out how to make that panelling look good, though.

Good Morning Lofters and Peekers!!
Thank you Nadeest, the artsy finishes are a no brainer for me, the hold it up part is what throws me. So here's what I'm gonna do until I can do it with something more sturdy.
1x2 along the indent over the windows
1x3 vertical length of the windows
2x3 across the intersection of the 2 strips vertically
now there is almost a 3 inch gap created.
now i will staple heavy canvas to stripping (8 ft), exact width of ceiling surface
lay the insulation inside canvas cavity,
attach ends of furring strips to 2x3 pieces
staple canvas to wood for leakage prevention
canvas is now giant painting waiting to happen!!!
I can do the same to the lower walls, etc. I think it will work.
The hard part is preventing the girls from using it as a jungle gym.
Note to self: trim their nails pronto.
Okay. Back to drilling holes in 1x3 pieces. Wish me :goodluck:
:koolaid: Back to Home Depot.....

Afternoon All!!
Well I'm hoping there will be no more excitement this weekend. I want to just veg and do NOTHING. I wonder if I could just get someone to drop me off on a secluded beach and leave me there with my cooler, beach chair and book??
A girl can dream can't she??
How is everyone?? Not much happening today at my girlie tent. But I am planning on doing nothing, unless I get excited about something..... thinking about painting a mermaid on Grace.... something exotic, naughty and sparkly... anyone got any extra glitter? mini mirrors??? toys?? faux fur??? Mardi Gras beads???
Humm... okay, gonna go check out my craft stash and see what I have to play with.... :jester:

Good morning (nearly afternoon) lofty people!
How is everyone? I hope you're enjoying your weekend...
I am moving a bit slowly - but that's a great thing about the weekend there is no particular schedule. I've got some laundry in and I am watching random tv shows. Later going to visit the feral kittens my friends rescued last night. Otherwise no plans...

Geez, is there gonna be an end to personal disasters at BFP???
Well, I managed to lift something too heavy above my head, bad Bliss, Bad Bliss.... it felt like another heart attack. So no more of that. After some ibuprofen I'm doing better, and another lesson learned. "Don't do that"
I finished painting, drilling, and inserting screws into vertical supports. Today my goal is to get them all installed. I was pleased that my measurements were spot on. (so far) This weekend I decided to put every thing into a storage unit so I can concentrate on installing insulation, and everything will be out of the weather and my hair. THEN when I'm done with installing insulation, I will ONLY put in Grace what I love and need. PERIOD. All else is going. PERIOD. ...
NO the "roomie" (non-member) is not helping me. She says "no, it's your stuff". Pretty plain huh? Ya, had to stick that in there cause I'm cranky about this.
Oh, here's a funny story. She says pointing to my stack of handmade quilts, "You aren't taking all those are you?" Took me a nano second to respond, "Those quilts are mine." She says, "I spent alot of money on those."
Again a nanosecond later I respond, "The F*CK you did. My Grandmother made those quilts. She signed all of them with her embroidery."
She says pointing to the quilt with blocks of soft peach embroidered butterflies, "This one is mine."
Nanosecond Nana responds, "NO F*cking way, my Grandmother made all these quilts... you have your own quilts, you have your own Grandma quilts, these are ALL MINE." I am visualizing WWIII building....
She finally says, "OH."
Case closed.
So anyhoo, now that the quilt question is settled, I'm back to getting ready to make some coffee and get going on my projects. Grace needs a shower to remove the green mold and dirt, I have decided not to bring my wool rugs. Too hard to clean, and WAY too heavy to lift. So gonna do throw rugs instead.
I should start a blog. I am quite the chatterbox today.
I'm in NW Florida, Gulf Coast. The lure of coffee is calling me, toodles!!!
Hey Dean Thoreau, was stunned to read about your daughter. Blessings your way !!

Hi Everyone!
Well, having resolved some of my health issues, partially, I am back around and trying to get in the loop as well.
First of all:
Dean, congrats.
Morningstar, how dare you be sick? Tsk, that will never do. Get well soon, lady!
Bliss, watch what you lift, not worth breaking the body.
I have had two shoulder surgeries, each one, rotator... both shoulders seem to work fine for the most part, but if I grab all the groceries at once I strain one, then have to ice it and sweat it out as to whether another rotator cuff surgery or not.
So far not, but I am lifting tiny loads for now. Make two trips to the car I have learned, not a big deal really.
Not much going on here on the Central Coast (Cali)... just enjoying a lovely and rather warm spring, helping my elderly landlord (my part time gig) and kicking it during my down time.
Health issues pesky but I am working on it, and keeping eye out for alternative treatments.
Great to see you all, will pop back in soon.
Dang! You know what is interesting...I was just wondering about how you were doin not long ago Morningstar. That is odd. I don't get to spend much time on here. But, I do care. I can't keep up. I am glad that the infection is gone. That isn't something to mess with. Poor you and Dutch.
Seems like we all have our own battles. Try and take care everybody.
And hello Licious! And everyone else.

Wonderful news Morning Star!! Soon you will be truckin' n trucking!!
You will be happy to get back to your home and routine, I know I can't sit still either. Gotta do something creative or go bye bye...
Progress for me is picking up. Am loading up storage unit so I can move around in Grace easier to put in insulation. Will be great to not worry about things getting wet in the rain and so on. So am planning to spend lots of time getting ready to roll.
So anyhoo I'm late getting my day going so will chat later maybe.

Holey Cowabunga.... you are slaying me here....
Okay, got a truck load of stuff taken to Goodwill yesterday. Organized the crap in storage. Where did I get all this stuff?? Good grief. I'm only taking stuff I love and things that support my life/lifestyle, and nothing ELSE, except pet stuff and pets.
There is more stuff I found in the house.... again I ask you... where did I get all this stuff???
Roomie: "wtf are you doing? you could have gotten $xx.xx for that "_____"
Me: "rolling eyes and giving the "Icouldgiveashit" look.
So? The money is already gone, I spent it, I'm not going to make myself sick schleping crap to make a couple of bucks. Instead of complaining to me about my lack of greed and averice, why don't you clean out the freaking garage no one can walk in except the cats? You do it your way, I'll do it mine.
*Frank Sinatra belting it out in the background of my home movie.... :fart:

morning loft dwellers and all the peekers
hope you had a nice weekend...
as for me ..... no
ended up going to the ER again late last nite
the pain in my shoulders / collar bone was soo soo bad i just couldnt handle it anymore... i havn't been able to do anything for myself.. and its been getting frustrating to the point of tears......i mean i could not do anything with my arms almost the pain was unbelievable .. anyways
it got to the point where it was so painful to to walk acros the room to the bathroom,i was soo out of breath from the pain, dutch had to practically dress me last night when we went to the ER. enough was enough... i just couldnt take it anymore.
soo 2 shots in my hip.. and getting some meds filled today .. it felt so much better the pain has eased off a bunch....i was even able to wash my hair myself this morning.
right now its amazing how well that stuff works. no pain at all in my arms.
all my life i been to use to taking care of myself , never depending on anyone. this humbles me.

Garage sale you say???
Well, let's see.... NO. I would bore you with WHY, but I like ya'll too much.
So that takes us back to NO.
So despite excruciating pain, you and I are the only ones who survived the weekend Ms Star??? Everyone else had so much fun they can't make their way to the puter??? Dang. I missed all the fun.
Well, I have been getting little to NO sleep, got up at 4:00 am. By 7:00am I was sleeping like a baby on the couch... it was heaven. Up at 11:30. This is not how I imagined my day would go. But here I am. Alive and well. So I'm happy.
It's another beautiful day in the hood, birds singing, pelicans fishing, ocean breathing, palm and other trees swaying in the breezes.... life is perfect.
After I eat I shall venture outside to give Grace a bath. Only one side has green mold... guess which one? I'll give you a hint, it's pointing to Canada. Okie dokie, gonna get going and clean up Grace.... then I'm gonna start screwing.... am talking about the vertical supports...

Hello all!
Popping my head back in after too long away.
My school year ended a few weeks back. Exams were stressful but I survived. Got all my courses - - yeehaw!!!
Have moved out of my student digs and am back at my little home in the country.
This week I'm training for a possible job. If all goes well I'll make some good money - well, above minimum wage! Best of all it is interesting, with a diverse & interesting crew, and it dovetails with what I am studying. Keeping my fingers crossed.
No luck on the romance department - someday soon, I hope.
Morningstar - sorry to hear about your hospital visits lately. Glad you are feeling better today! You are lucky to have your fine butch there to help you. I am also used to doing everything for myself - so I completely understand you there.
Bliss - your room-mate sounds like a real winner! Good luck with Grace - but be careful - we don't want you to injure yourself.

hi loft folks,
morningstar daughter was in very bad accident she was passenger in car that got broadsided by a bus...she was the one most seriously injured...thankfully her 2 kids (my grands) were physically ok, emotionally the grands are still a bit shaken up. after 2 weeks in hospital, rods in leg, fractured skull, a bunch of stitches...and now 12 weeks unable to work,,she is doing good and healing well...and has been allowed to go back to work part time with limitations....
i moved to nj in november to be able to check in on my mom daily..since she needs a bit more assistance and help..so i sort of commute a lot between pa and nj.....so if anyone is in jersey shore area sure would love to make some friends in the area.
The weekend was fun, took the grand kids bicycling....the three yr old biked 2 miles...beleive it or not on her looks like a bike but is more of a trike that looks cool.....(if u dont pedal it doesnt go) and then the 7 yr old (on regular 2 wheeler)did 3 miles with me....after that i took them for giant icecream sundaes...they were so proud of their bike riding, and i must say...the 3 yr old (dean jr) she was just amazing , pedaling non stop on dirt path is not easy...

The wife and I spent the weekend in Pensacola, FL. We didn't know it was Gay Pride weekend until we were in route. So we didn't really do any pride events. We stayed with her BFF in a cozy home just outside of Pensacola and had an alcohol induced weekend.
Albeit hungover on Sunday, said BFF's mom came over and made me homemade southern fried chicken (her fried chicken is legendary) with summer squash and potato salad. OMG - YUMMY!
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Good morning Lofters!!
It's gorgous out today, so as usual I was up at 6 am, hit Home Depot, picked up door skins, as per recommended (decided to do it right the first time), hard board for walls, and a few odds and ends.
Oh and purchased a lovely orange sherbet colored hibiscus. Multipetaled, very pretty.
Will be very busy the next few days getting stuff ready before a Hurricane comes through. Will make a great escape ride.
Gonna be a lot of work for me, but I hooked up the fan to cool me off while I work and made sure the icemaker was full.
TTyL ya'll, :rubberducky::rubberducky::rubberducky::walking-poodle:
It's another beautiful day here and I will again be doing some yard work. Flowers are planted but so many weeds! I am wondering if all the weeds were gone if there would be any green left?
I mostly lurk - but sometimes I really do post. I am wishing you all a lovely day:bunchflowers:

Evening all, No worries yet Morning Star, our precious peeps in Okie Land have been under extreme duress lately due to tornadoes... The Gulf is acting up currently, so am just mentioning that IF a hurricane comes through my area this year, I'm gonna be ready to go on vacation. I hear Canada is nice.... hee hee hee.:hangloose:
If you know me well enough, and maybe if you don't, you know that I will scram the first sign of nasty weather. I'm from the Southwest, lived in Hawaii and Louisiana, so yes, I know what bad weather is like. Oh and Colorado with 60 below zero chill factor and 10 ft of snow. No, I'm not making it up.....:seeingstars:
So how is everyone this lovely evening??? Got plans for the summer yet?
Sigh.........me? no. might go to wally world and get a kiddie pool for the girls...
Good night all, am very tired, gonna hit the rack in a few.... carpentry Bliss style is very hard work.

Morning everyone (it's morning in my neck of the woods). It's funny seeing everyone getting excited about summer solstice, I'll have to find out if it exists in SE Asia. Today is hot and sunny. Yesterday was hot and sunny. Tomorrow will probably be ... hot and sunny.
NZ has had severe weather the last couple of days. It would be so wonderful to be enjoying some of that cool weather - especially if there's an opportunity to snuggle in front of a fire with a hottie!

There was a lesbian wedding here in Topeka on Saturday. It was held across the street from the Westboro Babtist Church (the ones who carry hate signs)... The couple were from Little Rock, the Minister from Rhode Island. People came from all parts of the country. The house that they were married in front of is painted in rainbow colors. With marriage equality on the near horizon a huge statement was made!! This did not get much news coverage other than locally. You can look it up - (WIBW TV)....
I searched for a thread to put this in but couldn't find one so I posted it here.

My friend is with his family now, while he goes through chemo they will take care of him. I am so happy about that for many reasons.
I am catching up on rest, much needed, and getting to things I put off for almost two months while helping my friend.

Hi all,
I haven't been around for a while, and now my uni has finished and I have much more time on my hands I thought I'd drop in more regularly. Just finished a great weekend, went to a Dusty Springfield 50th Anniversary show at the local Entertainment Centre which was real hoot and so much fun. Our weather is starting to warm up, averaging about 21 degrees, and despite a chilly wind today, a glorious late winter day. I hope to be able to get involved in some great chats and discussions, and I hope all are well and for those who aren't travelling to good at the moment, I hope things start to improve, looking forward to some great times in this thread.

Hello everyone. Just finished a snarky message to leave here for the world to read and promptly hit the back button. So thanks to Divine intervention you won't have to read it today.
Took a fall Friday, after Dr visit, I managed not to do damage to my chest. Am not recovered from latest adventure but should be able to finish second half of ceiling insulation.
I would like to vent, rant and point fingers, but at the end of the day I have to own my choice from last winter. Oh well, do-over. Today is a new day .
Live and let live, yes?
How are you folks doing this gorgeous fine day? Relaxing? Having fun?

Hey Galahad, didn't know anyone was reading my saga about Grace. Maybe tomorrow I can post more information.

Hey y'all, whatcha doing?
Well thought I 'd talk about my projects a bit. Let's see, I finally figured out how to attach the ceiling support. You know the horizontal support. Used 1x2 inside top of window, then attached 1x3 to that. It is at a slight angle so the door skins slide in the gap. Later I will use caulking to seal the remaining gaps. Painted the supports before installing them. Now I have a place to attach curtain rods, etc.
Damn we have a major storm overhead. Heavy rains, lightening, thunder. Sorry, getting distracted ..... gotta go, need warm shirt, am shaking.

Evening everyone. Just awoke from a much needed nap, a five hour nap to be precise.
I must have really needed the rest. The big dogs kept vigil the whole time. They were thrilled to finally get outside. Knowing they guard even when nature calls is very calming for me.
How is everyone this evening? Galahad, did you imagine my bus was a VW? It would probably be a easier project because of size, but I planned on living in it full time. Before my heart surgery I thought it was doable. Now I don't know. Leaving here next month, so that will be the acid test. My little pack has increased from two to four. So this will be very interesting traveling with them.
When I have access to a computer again I will post more photos from my adventure.

Our city has its annual Old Spanish Days, we call it Fiesta. Four days of locals and 600k tourists drinking margaritas, listening to mariache bands, watching flamenco dancing, and a huge equestrian parade.

Happy Sunday lofters. What's every one up to today? Me? Five foot three, that's me!
Oh, let's see, it's hot muggy uggy outside, I scored a wall cupboard with a hidden ironing board inside. It's dirty and ugly but not for long. Just cleaned it, gonna cool off, then paint interior, let dry, then line with wall paper. It's gorgeous with fancy design, cream and white, luscious.
Then will add shelves, cork panels and maybe a small mirror. Will be part of my Femme cave redo. Did you know that Medusa started a Femme cave thread? Check it out. I bumped it, should be easy to find.
We should start a revolution and claim our sacred space
Who's with me?
Bought a gorgeous sink stand, black, for a kitchen, has wide shelf on bottom perfect for large decorative baskets or boxes. Or kitty nap place. Now I can get rid of other less attractive cabinets.

Morning peepers, where is everyone? I'm busy as usual. Ran out of insulation for ceiling. Am bummed. Need one more package to finish.
Now I can concentrate on fixing the inside. I need inspiration, so I will pull out my eye candy mags to inspire my creative flow. Wrestled my black cabinet in, it's going to look fabulous with baskets on the bottom shelf. So chic white trash. Wabi Sabi this. Found the cutest kitchen towels, will think about getting for camper kitchen. May go back to SAM'S and get the bright green towels. Or just make my own. Need counter top for black cabinet. Would prefer to make my own tiles, but don't have studio space.
Have a great curly grapevine that I will use as a towel rack. Will look so rustic. Going to hang curtains today, wash windows. Finish some cafe curtains if I can figure out if sewing machine works. Should just buy a new one but I'm frugal .... aka tight. :sunglass:

LOL At least that's how I think it's gonna feel when I get my arse out for my run after taking the last 4 days off. By the time I hit the turn around point I'm gonna be feeling every one of those 52 years.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi Jay,
I'm pretty new myself. I think I saw a forum for people from each of the individual states (as well as other places). Not sure where but if you keep asking someone will point you in the right direction. In the meantime, just keep posting. I found people were pretty quick to say hello and point me in the right direction. I found a couple who are pretty good at making me laugh from time to time too.

Downhill slide to 52 in November. We don't generally celebrate birthdays but that's my number so I can squeeze in here. SweetBliss that's a great reno project you are doing. The wife and I have half-seriously talked about selling it all and then taking off in a rv. That's usually on the days we AREN'T talking about getting a little acreage and raising chickens. Or living on a houseboat. We can't seem to decide on what we want to do.
I became disabled three months ago, so a lot of those ideas are pretty moot. But a reno bus sounds sweet, you can easily fix wheelchair ramps through the back door. (laughing) I'd just need someone stronger than my wife to push me up them.
I live in Nebraska, in Omaha. Lived here most of my life and I love it here. My arthritis says it's time to get out of dodge though, so we'll see. If you feel a little nostalgic, maybe do some shopping here: http://www.goodolddaysstore.com/

Well actually PS, what you would want instead is one of those lifts at the back door. That way you can get in and out by yourself if you want. Much safer for your wife I would think. And if in emergency situation much better for you and her.
There is a large group of all women out of Arizona that travel together. No one travels alone, they do it for recreation and some make their living on the road. The women I talked to said they gave up their six figure jobs to live on the road full time. Said it saved their relationship.
Well, my redo has hit a big snag. All that insulation is not helping with the heat factor. Not sure if it is because a portion is unfinished or I've done it wrong. Either way it is not going to be livable year round at this point. Will buy a couple more units, finish ceiling and hope for the best. Not a happy camper right now.
Finished another set of curtains made from my grandmother's fancy pillow cases. In keeping with my feminine vintage decor. Gonna hit restore this weekend, look for scrap lumber. Still working on how to create unique storage and three cat lofts. MiMi loves to hide all over the place. In drawers under the bed, in-between my quilts. She has scared the crap outta me more than once.
Coffee is ready, join me?

Howdy Loft E Peepers!
Well how y'all doing?
I have been busy painting furniture, window frames, statues, plant stand, fiber glass pots, store signs, etc. Ya, been mucho busy lately. Oh, and also put a high gloss protective coat on the little bamboo bath stand I got at auction. Have started gluing mosaic tile on the three shelves.
Found the perfect high gloss paint in pale sage type colour for two bucks at ReStore. Its for the hideous mailbox. I will take before and after photos. The wicker chair I repainted looks brand new again! ! One arm needs repair, which I will fix as soon as I find a good wicker supplier. Yes, I am a woman of many talents. :rainsing:
Oh, and scored 14 gorgeous rugs for a buck fifty a piece ..... retail price? fifty bucks each! !!
Beat that tighwad fans :cheer:

Sweet Bliss,
Top o' the mornin'. I can commiserate with you about rehab. Just this week I am having a decorator begin the tedious process of making a silk purse out of a sows ear. More succinctly, "covering up" old and tired looking wood paneling in 3 rooms. I am eager to see the results. Good luck on your re-do.

Hello Lofty folks!
Lord am I tired! Been putzing around doing this and that. Repurposed four faux suede curtains. Turned them horizontal, added tabs on top, voila'! perfect size for Grace's windows. The yard sale rods look fabulous with my new curtains. Sewed casing in canvas painters cloth, now i have fab heavy curtain for windshield area.
On Pinterest someone pinned these beautiful hand painted pillows, look like water colours. So gorgeous. Well, according to an enterprising woman we can create the same effect with sharpie pens and rubbing alcohol. Guess what I just purchased?? Yep.
Call me loony, but i am going to have some fabulous soft furnishings.
Finished re-painting bathroom door leading to garage. Two coats of lovely pale blue. used large floor fan to speed up the drying process. It needs some kind of sumpin. It's too plain. Painted wall behind toilet. not sure what I will do to spruce up that area.
Earlier I used a stencil to create a soft floral design. Didn't like it at first. am thinking it needs a different touch. Not sure about the effect I want. Will dream about this.
I'm hungry... did more stuff ..... mint tea sounds good.

Not much of a camper type but what a treat for the women who enjoy that kind of thing.
No dogs....say what?!
What self respecting licensed and registered lesbian has no pooches? :shocking:

All five of my hairballs shed their fur at my place.
The GD dog is the newest childrenz knowing that the oldest rescue was on her last leg. The old girl had been limping, sluggish. Being 14, well you know....
By a sheer miracle however, old limpy was replaced with a bouncy dog full of vigor and sudden mischief when The German Shepard pup arrived. Alas! a spring in her 14 year old paw and doesn't meet a ball (or round object) she won't chase.
Having a young 'un around has evidently been her Fountain of Youth.

Lots of fun at your place! Little Mister is old and disabled now. He has 3 cat sisters. They love him because he never chases them. He is the baby. Cause he needs the most care. Cats are, well, cats.
Post pics of your babies in the pet gallery if you wish, am sure I am not the only pet lover here.

The only thing that is ticking me off right now is that my neighbor is NOT picking up his leaves!
I have been mulching, raking, raking and mulching.
What good does this do when we have 40 mph winds today?
My point and I DO have one (besides the one I put a cap on) is that my life is so calm and relatively peaceful (less dealing with a pervert) that my biggest complaint is my neighbors leaves????
Life is good for me. Any complaints would be a huge fat prevarication! :)

Well, you could rake his leaves and use them for YOUR mulch and compost. Do you save egg shells and other organic material for your garden and lawn?
eggs are good for roses i read somewhere.

I take 25+ pills per day just to feel good. I am thankful that I have great insurance that cuts my cost to make it affordable to feel good. Red and I talked about our rising medical costs and came to the conclusion that a better life through chemistry is awesome!

Any one have any experience with Life Insurance Policies for Trans Men?
Would a beneficiary be denied, if the gender on ones Death Cert. and Ins. Policy gender don't match?
Retirement Plans?
I opened a thread in the FTM forums on these topics, in case any one would care to post there!

Unfortunately yes Joe, the insurance company can and will deny benefits if the documents do not match. They look for any kind of 'fraud' and refuse to fulfill their obligations based on, they feel that a) could be different people, or b) the documents were not filled out accurately.. it is in the fine print and their escape clause.

Aah, Thanks, Breathless. Am just getting some papers in order and seeing my work benefits portal leaves out particulars, including copies of the Ins. policies we signed up for during enrollment last fall and even the name of the Ins. Co. they are using!
Off I go then, I suppose, to tweeze out what I chose with a 'click', checking for consistency, making changes and then getting copies of documents, etc...that's if one can get ahold of ones HR guy. Full-time job just protecting yourself, eh...:police:
