Incubus - I'm enjoying my visit right now! Matter of fact - I just extended my time here. We've been busy, busy, busy - seeing the sights, going places. Plus you add in the activites for his daughters. Having a great time.
I've been to London a few times. Once I was lucky enough to see a women's FA Cup final - I remember one of the teams was Everton. A good time.

Afternoon lofters,hope u all are doing well this fine day.I had a eye appointment today for glases...dam the stuff they put in your eyes to dialate them..wish it would go away its already been more than the two hours they said it would last.
Spring is definatly hear in the south,everythig is in bloom,pollen is every where,birds a building nest all around hear.This morning it was 60 then by afternoon was 89..summer aint far off.

Nihaoma, all? (How is everyone doing?) To answer Jet's post about age... I am going to be 49 on May 15th. I still look very young apparently. When I dress in a hoodie and jeans (only to go walk in the field by the house-snakes are rampant here, the kids across the street yell at me to come and play! I still get carded when buying wine for a friend. I shop,excepts for dresses, in the girls department. BUT
I have MS as well as a series of other autoimmune diseases. It seems that have one predisposes you to having others. In my youth I was quite athletic. I walked 10 miles per day, worked out with weights several times per week, did yoga (still do), meditated (still do), did/do not drink nor do drugs or smoke. So this was NOT a "lifestyle" choice. Now I find out that I will be losing the vision in my right eye. We can prolong it for a little while. The optic nerve is almost gone, though. MS-related probably. There is a good chance that I will lose the vision in my other as well, just not as soon. I am trying to look at this in the best possible light (pun intended). Having just found out, though, makes it difficult. I'll be able to do so soon, just not yet. I'm still in shock.:seeingstars:

Once I went to get a hair cut,I at the time kept it a bit longer than collar length.The beautichian(sp??) was about done when she urned to say something to someone and the clipers bumped into the back of my head then cut a bare patch to the skin that no amount of triming would fix,I ended up with a flat top cut.I was not happy at all,it shure was cooler tho.

Well the cut is growing on me...kinda sassy. When I first met Toughy I had a pixie cut! I was no less femme. LOL I just showed more cleavage! :buzz cut:

Not that we are Getting Up There or anything. i was reading today that researchers at Uni of Rome found exercising strenuously helps prevents cell death. So I am going for a walk and find something heavy to lift. Happy ever after to us all.

Dental insurance is incomprehensible. Extractions are still completely covered but the dentist charges an extra $250. I'm looking for a new dentist.

So sorry for my protracted absence! i've been ill; everyone in my household has been ill. i go back to my dr. Friday, but i doubt he'll have any answers. he'll want to refer me to specialists. at this time in my life, i am too ill and weigh too little to want to go through any of the tests-which all require general anaestesia, a very risky proposition for me. if they DID find anything, there is nothing to be done. i cannot survive either an operation or radiation/chemo. so i'm going to let Tao move as Tao moves. i just wish to be made a tad more comfortable, if possible. which is not to say more pain meds. i've made my peace with pain.
on the positive side of life, i've begun a new blog. i'll give you the URL when i can figure it out, lol. the blog consists of short musings on life from a "femme of a certain age." i've also started a new course with my Taoist Master. W/we are using a book by Lu K'uan Yu on alchemy and immortality. i'm tremendously excited about it, though He will be, as always, a demanding teacher. this is part of my Roshi training. finally, i've found a place in town where i can get a dark chocolate bar by Lindt called "A Touch of Salt". My two favorite things combined: dark chocolate AND sea salt!

well i don't usually do 5k i alternate 20 mins on the elliptical and 20 mins core, but i was at the park and the sign said "go around the track 3 times and stop at the red post" so i did and that was 5k!

D.C...So thats how u got the 5k thing done,good way to do it.I usely work out on my bowflex as well as other asorted machines and free weights for 30 to 45 minits at the time 4 or 5 times a week.So far so good,I gave up being thin cause to do that I have to near starve ....so if im a bull dog type I can be a trim bull dog..will work for me.
Today I went to a estate sale,boy did I get some goodies.I found a nearly new bread maker with all the instructions as well as a resipe book for more kinds of bread.Two really nice hand painted pictures of woodlands and birds thata re signed by the artist dated 1901.there was a big garage sale a fue blocks away but its was already 90+ hear so I headed home for the AC.

Lady Wu, thank you for the wonderful welcome along with the tea and chocolate. I'm not used to the humidity so soon since I'm not from the South...I like to call myself a Northern transplant ;)
I can relate about the glasses. I don't want to think about how many I've either lost or broken. I wear contacts now but have to wear glasses when I read. I'm lucky that I haven't lost many contacts although, I did drop one and the cat ate it :|

Got a haircut today! FINALLY!!! I've been wanting to do this for ages but either didn't have the funds or the time. But - went today. Hey all,

As I am a new old guyhere at the Planet I wnated to say hi to everyone.
I have enjoyed reading through the thread so far...

I have definitely slowed down as I passed the 50 mark.

But the most recent change I have noticed is due to many friends accidents I have re-evaluated that oh so prevelant attitude of youth - "Throw caution to the Wind" - I now entice caution into my decision making at every step I can... LoL

I still live a very fun life - but I now take time to think about how to accomplish all of this fun safely... LoL

Let's face it - we break easier than we used to - and we don't heal as fast to boot...just doesnt seem right somehow.

So that is my most recent observation about changes as we grow older. And I think it applies to most everything I have read here so far. We don't go out and drink as often because it takes a greater toll on us - we go to bed earlier than we used to because staying awake for 3 - 4 days just isn't fun anymore... LoL

So as week approach a fun filled weekend...I am cautiously opptomistic that a good time will be had by all - "safely."

I slept like a log last night - I even managed to sleep through a very heavy rain. It woke my sister up but not me. I think I heard some hail hitting the air conditioner at one point but I just rolled over and went back to sleep.
It seems things are rather undecided with the weather - can't seem to make up its mind if it should rain or not. Quite windy too.

Just had an early dinner - chicken, rice and beans. Very good!

Watched the Uruguay and South Africa soccer match. I was pulling for the underdog. But no luck today - the South Americans won 3 - 0.

I'm going to head out in a bit - go for a walk and maybe do a bit of shopping.

I adopted a new cardio program which is pretty much the key; the weights come second.
I'm going swimming tomorrow for the exercise. the doc tells me the T will help redistribute weight,
have to stay focused nonetheless.

The dating scene sure is hard!! I have a date with a women from Jersey in a week see what will happen we both have a lot in common so that is good. she seems very nice though I hope it works out its been a long time since I dated...:blink:

Sunday it continued to get worse, not eating etc, so around 4 I decided to go to an urgent care clinic for a breathing treatment, so I could avoid the er. They started the breathing treatment and I passed out. Next thing I know I'm on an ambulance ( so much for avoiding the er lol). Seems I was having all the symptoms of a heart attack. They kept me overnight for monitoring, but my heart is perfectly fine. Appears it was a combo, of asthma, stress, and not eating. Threw everything out of wack. So they sent me home yesterday with antibiotics, steroids and a new blood pressure medication. I took today off to recoup.. thank God I did.. slept for 14 hours. lol Gonna work my part time job tonight because its very easy and I can bring my clients home here for part of the time. So almost as relaxing as staying home. Hopefully I will be rested enough for work tomorrow. lol

I can definitely relate to Ruthie and anybody else that has lung problems I have bad asthma and when I get sick its worse so they put me on steroids too. I take Advair for daily control but sometimes it just doesn't seem to work for me. (((((Ruthie))))) feel better soon!!:praying:

It really is quite unpleasant isn't it. I try not to whinge too much because I've caused it myself by being a smoker. After a chest infection I thought was going to kill me not so long ago I got scared enough to finally give up smoking. Day 58 and counting!

I have asthma it was bothering me this morning after walking the dogs maybe the humidity or pollution I live in Northern NJ which is close by NYC so that could be it but I'm moving soon so I won't have to deal with winter anymore. Got really sick this winter for like two weeks straight, on prednisone and antibiotics, can't take the cold anymore!!

Ive had asthma for years,had it as a kid then it went away till I was in mt 30's when one day it took me down and I spent a week in the hospital geting over the attack.Now I finaly am on advair along with an inhalar called pro air.I still have probs with it in hot or cold weather,today I got up and was out of the house by 9:30 puting out job apps but bytime it got to ten I was off someplace that was hotter than hell..I really didnt think I was going to make it back to the car and the ac,I did but my lungs feel pretty sore at the moment but not something I need to see a doc about.Tomorrow I have an appoint with my doc he is prolly going to blast me for being out in this 101 weather.I shouldnt be smokeing again but stress got to me,I know I just have to NOT smoke cause its not good for ppl with asthma.Years ago I was on some meds with steroids in it which caused me to blow up like a baloon,the doc said the meds im on dont have steroids but im wondering if hes lieing like a dog.With all the exersise I get and watching my diet I should have lost more weight.Aftre I see my regular doc I go to the orthopedic to see what he can do for my neck/back injury..I want this thing thats eating me alive to get lost and leave me alone to live a normal life if possable..or close to it if I can.You all take care with the weather like it is..just too hot .

Thanks Ruthie glad to hear that you are feeling better!! I usually walk the dogs at 6 am and then at 3 or 4 in the afternoon. But with this heat we don't go far just around the block I can't take any chances...moving out of NJ because of pollution and cold weather in September some time so that should help with the asthma and allergies.

The heat's even reached WV! The temp has reached-gasp!-90 degrees! (I'm from MS/LA where the temp is considered HOT when it's over 100 degrees.) Yes, the town is even handing out free lemonade, an old tradition in "the air-conditioned city."

I am such an idiot. Apparently I have trouble figuring out if someone is interested in me or not. Been dating this one woman... told me she was interested.. Asked me for dates... flirted.. etc etc.. now she tells me she is not "ready for a relationship". Is she? or is she just NOT interested. We found each other on a dating site for heavens sake. I rarely stop in at length but today I'm taking a few minutes to say hey and hope this note finds you all well.

I'm involved in major exercise regimen; I reworked my routine to lose more weight and thin out, and the best program is P90X. Terrific for cardio, abs and the rest.

It's taken about 3 weeks to actually start liking cardio. Now I'm into all 45 minutes of that part of the program. Every day is different and i'm excited to have found something that I can gain results from.

There is a work out thread here, I know, but I'm posting this in here because I'm 53 and I'm able to keep up with a program more so now than when I was in my 30s. I quit smoking at 50 and I still have problems breathing with in tense cardio segments, so I just take a break and wait to catch up.

P90X uses bands, dumbells and a chair occasionally. So you don't have to invest in a lot of equipment to do the program. And I have found that being in my 50s is not too old to be healthy and fit.

I have a problem with cardio that directly engages the knees because I stressed mine a couple of weeks back and now jumps really hurt. Also, I have issues with balance; it feels like my equilibrium is off.

I added P90x because I needed cardio to go along with my gym and weightlifting. So now I think i have everything I need.

Can't stand the winter time anymore too hard on my asthma. don't want to be alone anymore. Would like to meet someone and settle down with that special person. Do you like where you moved to?? Is that South carolina? Is it gay oriented? Thats the most important thing to me. I live in northern NJ and everything is in the City thats NYC too time consuming to go into and too expensive also. Would like an area that is less expensive and has somewhat of a gay environment! I only have 3 months left to school and then I'm out of here. As far as that women goes. I don't think I will meet with her. Maybe just for coffee but thats it.

I get it, Ruthie. It stinks, but you have to dust yourself off and remain positive. She wasn't the one. Better to find that out sooner than later (i.e., after a lot of invested time, etc. That's my theory anyway.)

I am trying to build some muscle too, Jet. I have dumbells and a workout on youtube I'm following. It's slow going, but I didn't get in this shape overnight either.Trying not to get too excited and tear something and wait forever for it to heal is a huge challenge.For cardio walking is about all I can manage. I'm glad you shared your program here. We share some different challenges trying to keep in shape that not everyone on the workout thread does.

I thought that south would be conservative also and in many ways it is. I'm not sure if all of SC is gay friendly (I doubt it) but from everything I've heard Columbia SC is but probably not as gay friendly as it is up north but i could be wrong. It is hot in SC and humid, I moved here last month and it was strange being able to wear shorts all the time so soon. I will go to Pride and report back to you what I find out and see.

Hi everyone. Summer is hitting everyone pretty hard I guess. It's been really lovely here for a change. We are usually just a little cooler than Palm Springs. So balmy 90's are blissful. Our turn will come.

I'm concentrating on losing weight, but it may weird considering I've started T and there's weight gain and redistribution. That's why I have to really do more cardio now so I can tackle my midsection...or at least try.

Well, my own 2 cents is.... that if you are NOT ready for a relationship.. then you should NOT be dating. Dating to me means that you are trying to find someone who you might want a LTR with. Doesn't mean you will find them, or that you won't date ppl that you don't fit with. That is to be expected. We met on a dating site and , quite frankly, I wasn't really sure we were going to date at all. I was perfectly content to do the friend thing and get to know her. She made the approach, wanting to call it dating, sexy talk, asking questions that, INHO , you ask a potential partner, not a friend. She kept asking for sleep overs and when push came to shove, well, she just wanted to sleep and nothing more. If she just wanted a friend or a cuddlepartner... then just tell me. I would have let her know that friendship would be fine but anything more leads to gfs for me. I am always upfront with how I am. No pretense. No games. If I like you, I like you, If I don't , I don't lead you to believe otherwise. I dunno, maybe time will give me a perspective I just can't see in this moment. Right now I am confused and hurt. Hard to look to much beyond that right now.

you make some good points. Instead of everyone making assumptions or risking miscommunication, maybe you just come out with your expectations in the beginning. What's wrong with saying "I'm looking for a relationship eventually"?

I'm sorry you're hurting, I know what that feels like. For me, I'll date only—no relationships or commitments which I make very clear. Anyway, I hope you'll feel better. But you're not an idiot—just seems to me, there was lack of clear communication.

I met someone last fall thru one..... we talked on the phone and on line.... for few months.. flirted , got into some heavy serious conversations and some fun flirty ones..she lived 1 hr from my house... then 1 day... on FB.. she has in a relationship on her status. im scratchng my head.. wondering ok is there something I mised??
turns out she got involved in someone else..... yep i was a bit on the ok what is wrong with me , thing.... then she just wanted to be my friend.. i said .. no not at this time.. maybe later.. well a couple months ago.. she contacted me asking me what i was up to these days... wanted to know if i wanted to meet her and if i was in town..cuz the thing she had with this someone else didnt work out..

I am such an idiot. Apparently I have trouble figuring out if someone is interested in me or not. Been dating this one woman... told me she was interested.. RUTHIE, there is a job market in healthcare. Nursing, medical assistant like I did and should have done nursing instead!! Will go back after I graduate from school want to make some money first. but you can't go wrong with the healthcare field its booming, just my .02 cents worth.
