Taking my youngest niece to school today, and watching her blue eyes light up when she saw the preschool was having a water slide day...

having a really really awful pain day today, my daughter came over and took me grocery shopping so I wouldnt have to bring it all in myself. (I insisted I had to go) then she made chicken quasadillas, blueberry corn muffins and chocolate chip cookies at my house. Tomorrow is her BFs birthday but she gave me alot too. I got to spend the entire day with my kiddo! Even in awful pain, I so loved it!

Doing research yesterday and finding out that I can health insurance with dental insurance for about $154 a month. I nearly fell over when I saw that...

The sweet Daddy Bluebird that took a bath in the dog's water bowl the other day, came back today with Momma Bluebird and taught her how to splash around and fluff her feathers. They were having such a great time taking turns cooling off. I got so tickled that he brought her and jumped in first to show her what to do. They were very sweet.

For myself, I got up with the sun to begin the task of sifting through my belongings, complete with bad and good flashbacks as I found this item or that object, to prepare for a sale and move.

I am nowhere near where I need to be in the end, BUT I see the progress made and I threw a bag of trash out and a bag of stuff to the recycle bin and I've got a box for Goodwill started and two boxes of stuff for the sale. It's better than I anticipated, honestly, as I tend to procrastinate, so I feel pretty darn good about how well I've done. :cheesy:

after working a 13 hr day,coming home,my son meeting me at the door with a big grin and says "notice anything?" he had cleaned the entire house--vacuumed living room and bedrooms,washed dishes cleaned the bathroom(all of it) washed the rug from in there...made our beds,put my laundry away...and left me a note on my dresser that simply said "you are a good mom" totally unexpected,and better than i do most times.

the pride i saw in his face was pure joy to me!

My joy today came from visiting My aunt, who within the last month or so suffered a heart attack (thank goodness she's okay). I haven't seen her in five years, alot of it due to past family problems, but knowing that things are all behind us now and that we are still in touch brings a big smile to My face :)

Meeting two people today that started out as strangers and turned to friends within just a few moments. Their friendly, helpful, thoughtful, compassionate ways really made my day and changed my mood. They treated me like I "belonged" here" and am welcomed just as if I had been their favorite neighbor/friend for many years. Also, they each had wonderful suggestions and helpful tips that made me feel so positive and hopeful that "Thank You" just doesn't express what I feel.

I get to do a happy guy dance today, cuz I got fantastic news :D

Because I am on disability for depression and panic attacks/anxiety, I was eligible for a special program here where I live called the Vocational Rehabilitation Program (aka Voc Rehab). It gives people on disability who want to go back to school, or anyone who wants to upgrade their skills, the chance to have money paid towards going to school. Since I don't have the means of paying for going to college, My disability worker had sent in special paperwork to the program before I had My gallbladder surgery, and I waited patiently to see if I got approved or not.

Well I got an email today from My worker and ................. they approved Me for funding! Sooooooooooooo as long as I can get approved into a college program that I want to take, I get to go to college this fall :cheesy:

5:00 p.m. brought me a great deal of joy today. :)

I have been really tired the last few days. I enjoyed work today. Our manager gave us a cook-out party. My supervisor brought his grill on a truck to the lodge. He did a swell job with the burgers and hot dogs. That was a lot of fun. I love socializing with the group when we do not have work agenda going on. We have some interesting personalities. Put a bunch of geeks together and watch where the conversation goes. Odd in an endearing way. LOL! I sat between Chris, my gadget buddy and my supervisor. Sometimes I will intentionally go and sit with one or three of the tremendouly shy guys who have difficulty at our socials. They will perk up a little if you show interest, pay them attention, ask them questions and MAKE them talk to you. B-u-t ... t-o-d-a-y ... I wanted to be in the middle of it. LOL!

One thing for sure ... next week, I need to start making a point to get to bed earlier on work nights - else, it catches up with me and I feel cranky towards the end. I usually don't notice I am ragged out until I am way past there. I bet this site is full of people who do the same thing.

look around and compare prices...yes, even on moxing boxes! U-Haul appeared to have all the right sizes...went over to Home Depot - same size boxes and half the price. And, yes, I have loitered at the front and back doors of many a liquer store lately (even in areas where some of the drunks are pissng on the back wall AND near the boxes). Trying to catch those snazzy liquer bottle boxes in the pre-piss status (great for stemware) becomes quite the challenge. Let me tell you, if you aren't there when they pitch them out you might as well give it up because they have already made it to the big box crusher in the sky.
And, yes, when I have completed my move the boxes will be recycled by being given to someone else making a move, too.
As insignificant as it sounds...1/2 price boxes brought me joy today right in the middle of Home Depot.

Last night (actually early this morning) I went on a date the the Houston Museum of Natural Science to see a Corpse Flower (Amorphophallus titanum) that is about to bloom in all its stinky glory. We got to walk around the butterfly exhibit (which is a 3 story replica of a rain forest) in the dim light and it was raining inside. It was lovely, dark and intimate, perfect.

Stripped out components housed in their new space in my organization shelf with bins

Everything brought me joy today.

First, I took my dog (Kelly) to Pet Smart. Bought her a doggie seatbelt harness. It is the best one I have found, really padded and comfortable for her. We stayed at Pet Smart about an hour and a half. She met many dog friends and human friends. From there, I stopped at Arby's and bought her two Arby's roast beef sandwiches at the drive-thru. Pulled over in a parking space at Arby's, left the air conditioner on wide open while she feasted on her roast beef and drank ice water out of a dish I brought along. Then we went to a park, really nice one. Kelly has not been to that one so everything was so interesting to her. We left and shopped around looking at houses. I want something bigger. There was one in a very nice, quiet neighborhood with a great backyard and plenty of shade. I called and the realtor lived right across the street so he came over and we went inside. I really like the stone floors throughout. The only carpet is located in the bedrooms. In fact, I like everything about it. I really had my mind made up on a brand new one but this one is so spacious, plus the exceptionally grand shady backyard. Kelly made friends with another dog across the back fence. I don't know. I can easily afford the payments but I am not impulsive about things like this. I need to do a whole lot more looking on the weekends.

Met a friend for a very late lunch - I love caesar salad with grilled chicken strips. Nice visit with her. We got caught up. She is so easy to be with and makes me laugh a lot. I enjoy being around people like that. I have never met our Diva here at this site but I bet she is like that.

Late afternoon today ...
I was mowing the lawn, trying to hurry because dark clouds were rolling in. My entire upper body was drenched with sweat. It started raining very hard. I was about to head for the back to house the mower and go indoors. Suddenly I realized how good the rain felt on my sweaty body. I played in the rain today for the first time in ... probably decades. LOL! I cannot descibe how good it felt. I pushed the mower around back and got it out of the rain. Then I opened the back door, Kelly was standing there peering at me as if I had lost my marbles. Then she ran out and played too.

Joyful day! The whole day! :)

Wait until I start whining about indoor housework tomorrow. I'd rather be outside in the wretched heat digging ditches all day than doing inside work. LOL!

Finishing painting my bathroom! Well, 'cept for the trim... but it will be done in the morning! Can't handle all this paint stuff around any more!!

I'm glad I cleaned, primed (with an anti-mold agent) and did 2 coats with a premium paint.. the thought of having to do this again any time soon is just too much!! And thank the Goddesses for Purdy brushes!! ARGH... the livingroom and my bedroom need to be done, but, I don't think my joints (have RA and severe osteoarthritis in my shoulders) can take it on (especially ceilings)! I hate not being able to just do this kind of stuff without a way lotta' pain! OK, saving for someone else to do the other rooms. I did this one, the spare room and the kitchen. LOL.. and oh, have I paid for it with the aches and pains. PHOOEY!!! It has taken me forever just for those completed rooms... But I do feel joy at the job I did, looks darn good!

Oh, and Liam... my bathroom reminds me of sunflowers!!!

my grand niece from Tenn is coming to visit me today!

my 15 year old nephew has a disease which causes polyps in his stomach and intestines that requires surgery every few years to keep him from being in terrible pain. This disease also causes freckle like blotches on his lips. The kids have made fun of him for years. He also has a very low IQ so he doesn't function as many 15 year olds do, more like 8 much of the time.

I am trying to help him build his confidence. He is so afraid of new people speaking to him that he will not go outside and play with the other kids. So I have been working with him a bit every day, getting him to walk a short distance by our pond then back home again. This morning he surprised me with the news that he was ready to walk all the way around this pond, which is nearly a 1/2 mile. I watched as he walked, and cheered him on silently with each step. He made it all the way around the pond and was beaming when he got home! Go Cody!!!! :cheer:

My lawnmower finally cranked today after work. I had to yank it 3 times. It normally starts on the first pull. It got totally soaked last weekend when it started raining buckets as I was mowing. I did not get my yards finished until today. I was embarrassed to pull up in the driveway because it looked terrible! So after work today I got mine and my neighbors yards done. Looks good now! :)

I got accepted into college today! *YAY*

I will start on September 6th and finish May 20th, 2011 taking an Administrative Assistant course :cheesy:

This college is perfect for Me. There are no classes; the environment is one of continuous learning ~ there are many computers set up in one big area where students can work on their specific course, with instructors there to help you whenever you need it. You learn at your own pace, and there is no chance of falling behind ~ the instruction is individualized, so everyone learns as they are comfortable. I'm very much looking forward to beginning school and starting a brand new chapter in My life ........... things are VERY good right now :clap:

I am twirling on my toes. I just reunited with my son and my grandkids tonight. My son has been estranged from me for 5 years. 1) My cousin Barb came to visit us last night with her 1 1/2 year old son Matty. Its been awhile since we've seen her and it was great to have her over, and that little boy's smile as well as his laughter lit up this whole house ~ exactly what we needed after such a stressful week :thumbsup:

2) Creating a birthday thread for a sweet girl, the same one who is capturing My heart in a way that I never imagined possible ~ maybe its the cheesy grin that gives Me away :cheesy:

H. 4285 passed the Massachusetts Senate on July 13th and was signed into law by the Governor on July 19th. This new law will prevent accidental and malicious poisonings of animals and people by requiring that a bittering agent be added to antifreeze to make it less palatable.

A stray kitty showed up at my house 2 years ago. After months of leaving her food and coaxing her, she finally let me get close enough to pet her. She usually lays at my feet or under my chair and will allow me to scratch behind her ears. This evening, out of the blue, she jumped in my lap. First time ever. She stood there for a minute while I scratched her ears then jumped down. She circled my chair for a few minutes then jumped back in my lap...then plopped down and nuzzled into me, as if she had been doing it for years. Yay! I'm so loving this kitty... :cheer:

This was the earliest animal to bear recognizably horse-like anatomy, and it lived in the early Eocene period, about 52 million years ago. I can understand your joy in this. I read several years ago the book Coelicanth (sp?) about the finding of a genuine Coelicanth, a fish thought to be extinct since prehistoric times. The book was fascinating. I don't wish to own the remains of one, since they are too precious to be shut up in a private collection. I do wish that I had a copy of the book. What brought me joy and comfort tonight was a long talk with my adoptive Mom. She is a never-ending source of strength and kindness. She is in her 80s, a retired nurse, and a very wise Elder. She is the most valuable and loved person in my life. She is the person with whom I have the most real world contact. She can outrun me in terms of energy. I sometimes privately compare in strength and endurance to an old mountain goat, such comparison meant with only reverence and admiration. I don't know what I'd do without her! Thank you, Mom!

When I arrived home from work today, I inspected my property and ... *drum roll* ... still no ants.

I woke up this past Sunday morning and there were about half a dozen ants on my counter tops in the kitchen. I located their camp just outside my back door where they were lining up to come inside. Killed all the ones close by with Fantastic cleaning spray. After I had coffee, I went commando on these ants.

Put on my camo gear, located my three gallon tank sprayer in the storage room, pulled out a fresh quart of outdoor bug killer. I am talking the concentrated type. Folks, I do not play! Mixed an extra strong concoction, let out a warcry and commenced. *snickering at self*

So far so good. I cannot stand bugs inside my house!

No ants make me a very happy boy. *grin*

I had my yearly pelvic, pap ... "check out the plumbing" appointment with my gyno this afternoon. God I hate doing that. One good thing, my gyno is butch so that lessens the humiliatioin a little bit. Plus, she is really very cool - I just love her and her nurse. I have used them for probably 30 years. You put the three of us in a room and all you hear is a bunch of crazy, insane laughter.

Okay, here is what brought me joy today.

My gyno agreed when I asked for the surgery... I am having a hysterectomy as soon as I want to schedule it. I said I want you to take it all, ovaries and everything while you are in there. She said, "If I do all that, I will have to cut you and you will have to be off work for a month." I said, "Did you look at what I wrote on my paperwork when I signed in today?"

I wrote on the paperwork that one day soon I would be found dead. The autopsy will reveal that I bled to death. Heh Heh! I am laughing but serious.

I won't even get into telling you about the mood swings and at times, the amplified angry emotions.

It has been awful this past year. On for five weeks ... get a week break ... and then go again for another five weeks. I finally got her to promise to take it all. She said okay.

I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I will probably schedule it for around October since I am already scheduled for training the entire month of August and at least two weeks of September. The five day class my employer is sending me to next week costs them $2,500.00 so I need to be gracious. I can wait.

I have already called five friends with the news. :) I am so happy!

* Going to a realllllly good gourmet grocery store and getting some amazing green olive tapenade, a nice brushetta, some zucchini, a purple onion, some whole wheat pasta, and some artichoke hearts for tonight's dinner.

* Being back in touch with my body after a 15-year hiatus.

* Taking some time for me this afternoon in my favorite nightie with some "Six Feet Under" reruns, cheddar rice cakes, and trashy internets. :)
