What brought me joy today....

Eating lunch at Luby's today and watching a lil' 3 year old girl and her grandmother. They were both dressed all in pink and the lil' girl wore a sparkly tiara and had a balloon tied to her wrist. I smiled as I watched them both giggle in delight as they shared a chocolate pudding.

YES!! We worked hard and got all sweaty & filthy today; moving loads of soil, installing fencing, I got to drive my little red tractor :motorbike: around with its little red trailer getting everything together for the raised garden and mini-greenhouse...but I don't recall getting my hands dirty with peanut butter and jelly.
Oh my! does this mean you planted one of EntycingFemme's Peanut Trees?

Seeing joy in the smile of my 95 year old neighbor while petting my dog. I bring him to have "tea" with her sometimes and they both just have something special going on. This is the only time my little guy allows himself to focus on another human- he is quite loyal to me.

It is as if he realizes how much this time for Emma to touch and talk with a dog means to her. He settles righ in next to her. I don't mind that she repeats the same stories of her last dog while we visit at all. So obvious that that pooch was her best friend.

I swear, my little guy had the same look of joy in his eyes. I just know he would drink tea for her if he could.

These are the things that matter most to me.

was spending a wonderful afternoon with my precious mother. I took her to see the 2011 Senior Follies at our local junior college. This is a group of older folks that work all through the year to present 3 performances in a weekend of older types of music, dance, themes, along with a full rendition of patriotic songs. Their costumes were all handmade as well as their stage pieces. A gentlemen (age 91) sang a rendition of Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me To The Moon." Mom applauded throughout and I mostly cried because of the vitality, commitment and talent of these 100+ seniors as they sung and danced their way through the 2 hour presentation. Afterwards we ate a lovely dinner and then she came to my house and we hung curtains in an 11 foot high ceiling living room.

I have concluded:

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER.

And, thanks, Mom. You are my best friend.

I decided I wanted to be more present in life; to use all my senses even in routine, mundane tasks. I wanted to strive for excellence even in things I didn't have to do all that well, just get them done. I was tired of feeling half alive and not achieving anything.

So, I decided to approach my education law work fully engaged and going for excellence. I think I succeeded, I feel happy about my work tonight, and heck, I feel joy :).

My greatest joy has been actualized...I have found my horse. Her name is Kali. The Goddess of Change. She is a Dapple Grey Percheron/Haflinger cross. She is 14.3 hands high and is 8 years old and is safe and sane. She is broke to ride and drive. Now...the icing on the cake....I found my dream boarding stable and made my reservation today. I am the ONLY boarder. Very private, family farm on ACRES of flat trails filled with lakes ponds, creeks in lovely woods and open fields.

I was going to get another horse, a smaller haflinger but with all these trails, I needed a larger, stronger horse. And decided on this one. She is a beauty. Once I can get a photo I will post one.

Although it made me sad not to bring him home....
today while at the farmers market, I got to hold and cuddle a very sweet, tiny, soft, gentle baby bunny that had curly whiskers .... he and his companions were shivering before I picked him up 'cause it's so drafty at the open market.... when I held him, tucked under my chin and all warm in my hands, he settled down, closed his little eyes and I could feel him relax and trust me not to drop him.
He was so cozy and sweet.
They said if he had a little purple mark in his ear, he was a little boy. I loved his soft ears and feet... his plump little belly... and his unique coloring.

After a long hard week, this brought me much joy.... even though I knew I couldn't take him home or couldn't give him a good home. I gently kissed his little head and placed him back in with his buddies.... I needed that soft spot in my life right about now. I work in a field that you see many hardships and ugly things.... his sweetness made my day.

Speaking to my cousin on the phone today. Since my grandparents died when I was in my mid to late teens, I haven't been back to the farm as much as I used to, so haven't hung out with him as much as I used to. We used to be really close as kids, and still keep in touch over the internet. He's always accepted me for what who I am and I him (he's a rather feminine gay dude and was first kind of rocky for him coming out to his jehovah witness family lol But they accept him now, thankfully), so we've never really kept secrets from each other or judged each other.

Anyways, I haven't spoken to him in person or on the phone in maybe two years since he lives in Ottawa, but I was really glad that I got a chance to talk to him today. We spoke for like an hour and a half, which is weird for someone like me who hates phones lol!

It was so dark that when I said there was a cat, they couldnt even see her! I reached down and pulled her up and they were all suprised, Like I had pulled a rabbit from a hat! She clung to me lovingly. Here, I find, she had been hanging around there for a few weeks and people had been trying to catch her and no one could. But she had chosen me to come to! How odd! Well, she is in my dining room, under my alter, hiding at the moment. She is 6 to 8 months old and pregnant. And yet, very well kept. Not even wax in her ears. Yet hungry. Ate ravenously. Poor thing. Someone dumped her when they discovered she was pregnant. I am trying to find her a home but she will stay with me if no home is found. And she will be spayed regardless. After the babies are born. Sunday's in quite a while. Sunrise service on the beach with my beloved mother and lovely daughter at my side. Then on to a bountiful Easter Sunday brunch overlooking our gorgeous bay. A visit to my aunt who is in the hospital...and recovering nicely from a health crisis. On to my apartment to hang more curtains, string lights around the tops of my kitchen cabinets to add some soothing ambiance to the room, repacking the smallest storage shed off the balcony to where not even an ant cannot fit in now, dinner at Denny's using the AARP card for that discount...on to her house and watching Joel Osteen speak about leaving a legacy for generations to come of kindness, compassion and faith.

I could not have had a nicer, more peaceful day than today.

Thanks, Mom. Thank you, my dear daughter. You lift me up and hold me tight.

I love you.

I am so embarassed! Before one assumes a big belly is filled with babies, one should turn the kitty around and look under the tail..oh what did I find there when I looked? Hmmm....butt balls! She is a he and he is not pregnant...just fat or wormy..either way he goes to the vet...oh lord...and his name is now Lucius!

This had me laughing out loud.. You never cease to amaze me Softness. Your for animals is obvious in your posts. He is a very lucky cat.

Mailing out a card with a surprise inside. (f)

Hanging My Ansel Adams prints up in the livingroom. They so go with the architecture of this place.

Sitting here watching yet another thunderstorm rage across the valley and lake.

Getting good news on the starting of My health/dental insurance.

Thinking of ideas of what to get My Mom for Mother's Day. (f)

Fully engaging and opening the door.

Realizing the best is yet to come, and I am ready.

Kind words in a note from a Butch friend...and sending back encouragement.

What brought me joy today...

Walking downstairs to let the doggie out, and hearing the soothing sounds of the wooden windchimes that we bought during our last beach trip.

Opening up the french doors to the most beautiful spring morning we've had in weeks. (cooler temps, low humidity & lots of sunshine).

Looking out over the backyard at all the beautiful colors of the flowers in full bloom. Seeing a cardinal in the birdbath & a robin pokin' in one of my flower pots.

Sleepy smiles that are only for me.

The best iced vanilla coffee (well, after I added a lil' more french vanilla creamer).

Yesterday was the most beautiful day all year. No wind, awesome blue sky and all sunshine about 85 degrees. Sitting on the patio, right after sunrise listening to a dove cooing for hours. So peaceful while I read the paper and had coffee. Then working in my garden all day. Still have alot to do until I'm satisfied with it. But I love working outside. Everything is so lush and green with the rain and my grass seed is growing fast and filling in the bald spots nicely. And I got to use my new grill!!! Had some friends over for dinner, perfect ending to a perfect day .

The parents are still feeding the baby but trying to entice it into eating from the feeder on its own. The baby would rather sit on top of the feeder fluttering wings with beak gaping. I had a little joy explosion on the way to work this morning.

I got to work at 6am to get my day started a little early and came through the security gate to start heading toward my building and noticed some newly-planted rose bushes and such in the gardens.
I work on a huge campus with many buildings and have always appreciated the care and attention that my company pays toward making this a nice place to work.
This morning, I passed someone who had also come to work early to jog around the outside track that skirts the outer rim of our security-gated campus and another person who was doing some type of yoga out by one of the huge 100-year old oak trees.

It made me feel really, really thankful to work at such a beautiful campus where it's secure and well-groomed with plenty of room and opportunity to run, bike, do yoga, or use the free gym.

Joy for my job. That's a rarity but I'm lovin' it today. :)

They found this poor creature shivering in the parking lot...client is a vet tech and naturally her boss is a vet...they estimate the kitten to be about 5 weeks old.

When my boss arrived before Court i told her about our little guest and she just about knocked me over getting to the box under my desk...i have a funny feeling a certain little kitty will have a new home very soon. (My boss had to have her beloved Himalayan put to sleep late last year.)

:(

I have several events this summer, and was hoping that perhaps by some strange twist of fate [miracle], I would be able to make [afford] the Reunion in October...but I was just "voluntold" that I am going to Haiti then for an entire week! OMG! Haiti!

Rebuilding the community there, schools, medical attention, water, homes, clothes, shoes, food, all the things we take for granted they still don't have re-established...so I have been voluntold to go and help and serve...and sorry all much as I was looking forward to it, I'm going to Haiti. I'm going! OMG! I'm going to Haiti! :) :cheer:

Today my joy was found in nature as it usually is. I got my grass cut just before a storm rolled in, great timing!!!! It started to rain pretty hard, but instead of closing the garage door , I walked out in it and contemplated going for a run in my sweaty grass cutting clothes. Instead I sat on the front step and listened to the rain. I watched it water my flower beds. I love the smell of the cedar mulch especially when it's wet. I thought how beautiful and green the trees and grass are, how the flowers are so colorful. The very sidewalk my grass covered sneakers were setting on ,just a few short months ago, I was breaking my back and freezing my toes, as I shoveled the ungodly amount of snow. Everything was dead and bleak. It doesn't even seem like the same place. Winter seems like a bad dream. It doesn't seem like it even happened , doesn't seem like it could have happened. Just a faded memory now. Nature amazes me.

Camping Talk.

Picture sharing and ideas for renovations.

Memories of going fishing for the first time with My maternal grandparents. I got a 10lb Northern Pike and that thing almost pulled Me from the boat. However, My Gramps insisted that I reel it in with little or no help. Even though My Gram was beating him with her purse the whole time. I landed it. One of the best memories I have of being with My Grandparents.

I would like to go back to that lake this Summer and camp.

That unless I hear something positive in the next couple of weeks I am going to move. This brings Me joy because I have wanted to move out of state again for awhile.

I have finally learned to make decisions based on My needs and not those of My family or friends. I need to make them for Me.

Listening and Understanding... and making a promise.

Hearing the thunderstorm arrive and the rain beating against the windows. Knowing this is going to be a good day for sorting and repacking.

Looking forward to this coming Saturday. It will be nice to get away for awhile.

The sharing of words and life's stories and finding commonality. We are all alot closer than we think in some aspects of our life's history.

Words with meaning, always.

Oooo my Sunday just became *nearly* perfect...

The newest season of my favorite television show is already streamed on netflix. YAY!!!!

I've done all of my chores around the house and my errands outside of the house. The dog is well walked; and it is dark and rainy!

I have every justification and rationalization I require to have a bit of a netflix marathon.
