Yayyyyyy Peepers!! Mark 1 point down for the "little guys"!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
I LOVE Killdeer birdies and their babies! It's about time someone steps up to protect them, their nests and their sweet little fuzzy babies!!
Now.... maybe I can send a reminder to my neighbor that just mows right over their nests every week (I really don't think he knows they are there.... the tiny little eggs blend right in!)
We as humans need to take more responsibility for protecting wildlife and our little pieces of Earth.
Killdeer birdies are so beautiful and VERY unique!! It would be a shame to loose them because we humans destroy their nests because we aren't aware they nest on the ground and we mow our lawns without looking out for them.
We saved baby peepers from storms last year, and returned them to their nests. This year, because our neighbor is mowing more than he did last year, we don't have as many nesting momma's around. :(
Look how they blend right in....

while getting dressed e slipped back in bed (and froze me!) and hugged me for a minute since i worked till 10pm and he was sleeping when i got home (he gets up around 4am) and i was still sleeping since i don't work until 11. being only half-awake, i still worried about his dress shirt getting wrinkled but savored the few minutes of hugs-time--i don't even remember him getting getting back up. so yeah, i am pretty fucking grateful in this moment.

I'm taking a summer class that requires an assignment done each day from now until June 10, then two weeks of face-to-face classes. I thought I'd missed the assignment for Friday, which would have meant no 10 points :( (makeups not done). I was shocked to find it still up, and openable tonight, and I got my full credit! Hello, "A" for this class!
Besides that, today was day 3 of going to the pool with the kids, and letting them do their thing while I waterjogged and worked out. Long, long way to go to any semblance of fitness, but it makes me feel gooood.
I think I need to add to this thread a lot.

* My furkids
* Nature
* My hummingbirds landing on my back, head, shoulders, and walking on my hand
It seems as if the back yard has turned into a huge bird nursery, as all of the parents are supervising their fledglings flight training and trying to instill a sense of responsibility for their own meals. The black birds are loud, the robins are relatively quiet, and all kinds of lessons are taking place in each corner of the space. It is entertaining and I enjoyed watching all of the parents and their children for about thirty minutes today.

Ohhh what joy!!
No one bothered to tell me that the ceiling has been fixed at the office... after spending a month relocated elsewhere....
until I walk into the office yesterday to wait on a Tech person to bring my new computer; and discovered all new ceiling tiles installed and all the construction stuff gone... my first thought was "Oh what joy!! I get to work from my actual desk and office tomorrow!" ....
Later that day, the maintenance man stumbles through our area.... I asked him "what did they do to get it fixed?" The damage was so bad, I thought they'd need a new roof!
His response: "They just seemed to hit the right spot with more black tar."
:blink::blink:
Ohhhh what joy!!
I get to work from my office today!!
And get to wear a rain poncho INSIDE the office after last night's storm!
There's no way they fixed that roof with just black tar!
But it brings me joy to finally have a working computer and access to the office again!
The smell of fresh cut grass.

My niece who I raised as my own due to her drug addict mother. When she born under 2 pounds I could hold her in one hand..bought her cabbage patch doll clothes because all the baby clothes were much too big for her. She sent me a photo of a sonogram of my future great-niece. For such a lil one born in the world with slim chance of even survival, graduating top of her high school class, joining the Air Force and recieving all sorts of medals and commendations and now is going to be a mom herself. She amazes me every day.

Too bad I can't make a living off of it. .... *shhhhh don't tell the people I'm serving this to that it's sugar free and low fat cream cheese ... I'm hoping they can't tell the difference...*
I am building some new adirondack chairs for my patio today. I'm going to get the wood as soon as the lumber store opens in an hour. This time I'm going to make them rocking chairs !! I can't wait, I'm excited .haha Doesn't take much , huh? haha hey just 50 more min. now!!!!

By seeing my niece and best friend
Hearing that north TX man will be down for another visit
Driving my car all the way to Fort Worth and back on ONE tank of gas
Funny Facebook exchanges that involve cinnamon buns and chains and harem pants
Invitations to movies (even if I couldn't go)
Vocalizing at the top of my lungs to keep myself awake driving home

my Roomie making a special trip to the farmer's market to get SMOKIN hot peppers for me today...
and a whole bushel of homegrown hot and sweet peppers given to me by friends... so now I can finish my special order Salsa canning this weekend!!
I loved hearing how "awesome" my first batch turned out!! (considering I can't do my own taste tests because hot peppers don't love me)
I made positive plans today for the near future that brought me joy...
And I had a long, VERY productive and wonderful conversation with a friend this evening after work. Her respect, strong 'voice', support and positive energy really made my day!!
Honoring my son's memory by celebrating the positive rather than giving into the negative memories gives me much joy from realizing that I have processed my grief in a very healthy way and can Move Forward.

Joy oh joy! My joy? Having the IT Tech guy come fix my home computer yesterday. I had no Internet and my computer was freezing.
Turns out I had saved so many episodes of True Blood on my TiVo desktop- I had virtually no hard drive space left. He cleaned 'em out, deleted all kinds of stuff I didn't need (AOL?); found I Had dropped my camera one too many times & was actually broken; defragged it; got rid of some suspicious malware-looking things, etc. And got it humming again!
Great joy: he said I don't need a new computer- I am just seriously short of ram. I can't add Skype or anything else until I get ram but he showed me what to buy and he will install it for me! Ram is much cheaper than a new computer
Best of all, he spent over 2-hours on it and only charged me $75.00! The Geek
Squad would have charged me $129 just to show up.
Now I don't have to use my IPhone as my primary computer anymore! I put IT women and men up there with physicians! I am in awe of what they can do. They have a secret language that I know next to zero about and am so glad that they can do whatever it is that they do!
Happy Saturday all:):)

I know ow you feel about the whole computer thing Anya, I almost had to buy a whole new laptop Myself. The one I have now was not working that well anymore, so My friend's uncle (who is a computer technician) took a look at it and determined two things: I had the crappiest operating system ever (Windows Vista) and I absolutely had not enough RAM either to accomodate everything I had on here. He totally fixed My entire computer; he installed Windows 7 Ultimate for Me and since I only had 1GB of RAM on My laptop he gave Me 4GB. My laptop is back in My possession and it runs smoothly, he's only charging Me $60 for fixing the computer so it's definately worth that amount to have it back :-)

Sometimes joy is really, really simple.
I was standing barefoot on the front deck this morning watering the hanging ferns while Gracie scampered around the yard sniffing at the wild rabbits who come to eat the sweet weeds.
I looked out at our huge front yard in such a peaceful country setting and was grateful for a home that I love.
I then went inside and had some coffee with Jack before sending her off to work with a packed lunch.
Today, I'll clean house and work on getting the guest room ready for new paint and carpet. I'll marinate some chicken for grilling tonight and listen to my iPod. Maybe I'll work on some web projects and actually get one of my other blogs into production.
I found joy today in the simple pleasures of a life I love. Truly. <3

Talking to my baby girl, as always, is the highlight of my day and also, today, because I'm grumpy and in pain, my cat is being particularly cute, she's found a bit of plastic from a vitamin container lid, the security seal part and she's chasing it around, picking it up in her paw, bringing it to me to show me and all the while telling me all about what she's doing and where she is ...

I posted this on my facebook but this just made me so happy today I want to post it here.
This morning I took the dogs out to pee. One of the dogs is half german shepherd (or maybe one quarter lol) and the rest whippet (which is a small greyhound) and he LOVES to run and is lightning fast - so fast he can catch mice.. and flies.. and wasps (which aren't really fast per se but will sting him and he's a fearless little fella). So I take them out but he stops cause he can't go any further cause he had to pee so badly. But I didn't know he stopped and kept walking and accidently pulled the collar off of his head. Well, he knew he was free. But did he bolt? NO! He went right to the steps to the door to be let back in.
This was HUGE to me. My other dog is terrible about running away and it takes me hours and hours to get her back. But my boy did not want to run away - or even run. While it may not seem like much, it touched my heart and made me smile :)

What brought me joy...
While eating lunch at a local deli today, I noticed a young woman in her 20's with one of the most beautiful smiles I have ever seen. She sat down at the table across from me, and I smiled as I saw her be-boppin' in her seat at the 80's music playing throughout the deli. As she got up to leave, she glanced my way and I smiled at her. She said to me, "I hope you have a great day gorgeous."
It's not very often that you see such random happiness in a stranger... and it's contagious!

Sipping my Dunkin' Donuts coffee this beautiful, sunny morning.... :)
It rained last night and cooled things off around here. But what brought me joy, was sitting on the patio, and the outdoor rustic country aromatic smell of nature , from the wet trees, in the forest that my yard backs up to. It smelled just like it did at my fav. aunt's house out in the country, when I was a kid. When I was about 7 yrs old I spent a summer with her, some of my fav. memories were made that summer. My love and appreciation for the outdoors, and nature, were cemented that summer. And my fantasies of owning a ranch with lots of acres and a big barn, were created from my adventures that summer. It's amazing how some smells take you back, the memories seem so vivd, such a happy time, just put me in a great mood!!!

We got out and did a day trip to the Shenandoah mountains. The weather was perfect, nice and cool. Plus, we got to see a momma bear and her cub right along the edge of the road in the woods. So cute!

During my lunch break I was just walking along - in my own little world - when I was suddenly surrounded by the subltle smell of sweetgrass. I looked around and noticed a woman walking by me - - just a quick glimpse - an impression of a summery blue and green dress, a curl of blond hair. I had to smile that the perfume of a stranger could fill me with comfort.

We went to the Peach Festival on Saturday. A tiny affair but with some really cool local artisan vendors. Mountain roads, windows down, bluegrass on a static filled AM radio station, wind on my face and my beautiful Jess behind the wheel, arm slung around my shoulders. Was a pretty joyous day...
These lil treasures were just a bonus:
An original stickered Jade-ite extra large batterbowl (shown here already nestled amongst a few of our other pieces)

Another shot of it sitting on the range:

We found some really nifty artisan pieces - those will be in another post (I can't make the pictures smaller when I photobucket them)

Iron hooks - hand forged by a young blacksmith offering demonstrations - still warm to the touch when we bought them:

discovering a beautiful community garden at a Homeless Center today that has been tended with loving hands all year...and seeing all the art work around the grounds.
Watching a very loving, tender, caring mother in a wheelchair with her almost-newborn dressed in a very sweet, bright yellow tiny dress today at the Center... they were very beautiful together, touched my heart deeply...they brought me joy to see the love....and the whole scene made me deal with some of my internal stereotypes about homelessness and focus more on the content of my "Bridges Out Of Poverty" seminar. She and her daughter are the reason why I am in this career.

An email from my new boss...telling me that he has secured funding and approval for me to take a 4 day seminar in Orlando this November that will result in my MPM (Master Project Manager) certification. It's expensive, and with all that's gone on lately at work I was astounded that this was approved. :)
