Talked to my supervisor first thing this morning about scheduling the hysterectomy this Fall. I have his complete support about being off a month. I told him I want to select a time when it is best for my team. If we are under the gun, I can wait a little longer. I don't want to put extra burden on anyone by having them take on my load.

I wish to thank all of you who repped me on the post I shared with you yesterday about having the surgery. I have talked to a lot of friends and every single one said they never regretted having the surgery.

Yes, pretty joyful about getting my life back after the surgery. This thing was taking over more and more ... it has been increasingly difficult to put on a happy face and deal with it. Now I have an invitatioin to the way out. I am taking it.

Skipped lunch yesterday because I was workng in the yard mostly all afternoon in 100 degree temps so when I came in, I could not eat. I had to cool down. Took a cold shower, flopped and napped - it was late before I could eat anything. I made spaghetti last week and put some single rations in the freezer so I took that out of the freezer and ate it very late.

After I ate, I remembered that when I eat spicey foods after about 9:00 p.m., it makes me have scarey dreams - normally these dreams are about werewolves getting after me. I think I underated it, more like night terrors where I wake up sweating and yelling. By the way, werewolf is my favorite monster. Anyway, I was scared to go to sleep last night. The joy part is I woke up this morning and realized I did not have any nightmares last night. :) I try to be careful but that was a slip up last night. I got by with it but I will not press my luck in the future. These night terrors are in vivid color. I can smell the monster's bad breath when he is almost on me. They are horrible because I am always trying to get away from the werewolf and can never do it. It is a very long drawn out cat and mouse game, then at the end, I am too tired to run anymore so I turn around and confront him. We roll on the ground and I wake up yelling. I have frightened more than one lover in the past with this. Poor woman does not know what is going on. :(

I totally get this - I had a recurring dream that started as a young child and lasted until my late 30's

I wonderful lesbian therapist helped me get to the root of the dreams and luckily for me they have never returned.

I hope you find your root and confront and alleviate them :)

The dream occurs about twice a year, maybe three times on average. I have noticed a pattern. Consuming spicey foods late at night increases my chances of having that dream. It is so real to me, not only can I hear and see him but I can smell his breath when we start tearing at each other. If he is not visible but near, I can smell him and know he is very close by. Another thing and I will shut up. The day I wake up from the dream and shake the fear, I always feel a lot stronger physically all day long. Weird.

I was so tired last night but made myself stay awake longer ... I prefer to avoid the confrontation with the werewolf when at all possible. LOL! Wears me totally out until I wake up from it.

my friend JoSChmooze, which some of you might remember from the dash site, just had a second knee replacement. He is doing wonderful and his pain level after surgery was a 2. Before surgery, for 6 months, it was an 8! Even with pain meds! So he is doing much better and is chipper and laughing (and its not because of the tylenol 3!) and feeling better than he has in months.

His joy brought me joy!!!

Lunch plans with my mom in about 30 minutes.

Plans tonight to catch up with one of friends from high school ~ that I haven't seen in about 15 years! She now has 5 kids (oh my gay), so I'm gonna grab a few pizzas, a bottle of wine for us, and head that way!

Our plans last Saturday to go to the beach got canceled... but I got a phone call from a friend that rented a cabin for THIS weekend, and has invited us to come on down! YAY time with my honey, some great friends & time at my happy place :)

Today was AWESOME!!! My boss and coworkers surprised me with a going away pizza party (we REALLY love our pizza 'round these parts) and even the former head housekeeper (who I absolutely love and adore) came to it! The baker in the bunch made RED VELVET CUPCAKES!!! I got a bunch of cards and a gift card and lots and lots of hugs and threats if I didn't write them.

Also......ALSOOOOOOOOOO.....I had a dental appointment which you may not think would be awesome, but it was. I had my very first EVER dose of nitrous oxide and I think I'm in love. :stillheart: The poking and prodding and grinding didn't hurt at ALL and my teeth look GREAT. I'm totally getting that shit EVERY time, from now on. :blink:

I counted 22 spagetti squash in my garden (it was the mystery vegetable!)also

We have a lot of stray and feral cats that have taken residence at the domestic violence shelter where I work. We've been feeding them and giving them human interaction so that they can possibly be adopted out. One of them had a litter of kittens under the porch last week. One of our residents crawled under to make sure they were okay. The mother cat must have had a horrible time with delivery because all the babies were "connected". Some were attached at their little feet, some at their tails, and so on. It was just one big clump of kitties. One of our residents is a former nurse and vet tech, so she detached them from each other and treated them, then moved the whole little kitteh family to a comfy box on the porch. This morning momma and all 7 babies are doing great. The babies show no signs of any serious damage or ailments, and are crawling all over the box. This was definitely my happy happy joy joy moment for the day. :D

My mom loves her job but was frustrated with (very shitty) new changes made by new management. I heard her say "fuck" for the first time ever, the other day when she was so mad she almost walked out. (Eventhough she's been there for years and years.) She was pulled in for a meeting with her boss yesterday, where he told her how awesome a job she does and then proceeded to give her the hours she prefers plus fridays-sundays off, and a $3 raise. Yay for mom!! Oh, and she no longer has to wear the really funky chef hat that she hates...LOL :D

thank you, Becca. I never had a mother who was involved with my life. I am so glad I can be part of my daughter's, for her as well as for me. She came over tonight and showed me the hands she made so she can clip their daily chores to them. And the birthday chart she is creating to make each one feel special. And how she is only using a generic bathroom pass instead of a boys and girls pass to remove one more gender selection activity from her class. She is creating the county fair for them as a welcoming to her classroom, giving out ribbons when they bring in things to show. A ferris wheel is being created out of cardboard boxes and gizmos (she knows what she is doing) and each child will have their name on a seat and a suprise in the bucket at the end of the first week...she never stopped talking about what she had already done and what she was doing...

I am so very proud of her and so glad I am home to be part of this...

yesterday morning, while scouting out my new surroundings, I found a WONDERFUL, expansive, peaceful, beautiful Wild Life Refuge. Willy Bear and I went for a several hour hike and were so tickled to see so many wonderful things... HUGE flocks of Blue Birds and Indigo Buntings, all kinds of dragon flies and butterflies of every color, VERY VERY tiny frogs and funny colored lizards.... just a very peaceful place. I even got "kissed" by a black and white Swallow Tail Butterfly (had NEVER seen one of those before!) and Willy brought back his very own Pet Rock. *giggles at silly dog*

I was so happy and tickled to find this place so close to home....and there's even a few wonderful fishing spots!!!!

Today.... I'm headed back because I can't resist and because I forgot my camera yesterday.

Been finding a lot of feathers this week. On Tuesday I found what appeared to be Mockingbird and/or Dove tail or wing feathers and took those to my friend for her shop. (It's called "Little Feather.")

While walking to the bank at lunch today I found a large black feather on the sidewalk. If I had not looked down I would have stepped on it. Naturally I picked it up because I was going to take it to my friend. But she told me I needed to keep it because it is a crow feather and they are very special. Pretty cool.

My whole day was simply wonderful! It was brought on by spending time with my Austin Sisters and Brothers, on a very special wedding engagement with good food, dance and company, and topped off with the best lunch, once again, good food, good conversation and beautiful people! Now if a weekend can make a Monday wonderful, what more can one ask for! Monday blues were filled with Monday smiles, lite foot steps and whistles of the top 80's music.... And thoughts of smiles galore and laugher still ring in my mind freshly...

I just hardly know how to begin to tell You this....

I began volunteering with Dell Children's Medical this morning on the Hematology/Oncology (Hem/Onc) floor. Half of my time was spent in orientation.....but then I was "let loose" <smile> Most of the stuff I did was trivial stuff that needed to be done.

Before, I always knew it was crucial to keep things clean for these kids, but every surface ~ once it's been touched ~ must be cleaned with stuff so strong we have to wear gloves...it's so strong, it kills the AIDS virus on surfaces......because the kids' immune systems, sometimes, are non~existent.

And then, I met Xaia.............<smile>

I was in the lobby at a down time, cleaning surfaces, funiture, even the markers for the easel. Xaia was there with her Mom and big brother....she was probably about 5. We started chatting when she asked me why I was doing what I was doing. I told her I was giving the cooties a POW. :| But she laughed. I started asking her silly questions...and she looked up at me and said...."You're beautiful."

I looked down into those big brown eyes and that was all she wrote. I was a goner! I said, 'No you!' and we went round and round with that....

And now I know why they tell us they don't want us to volunteer more than 4 hours at a time. I'm not sure I could handle more than one Xaia Experience a week.

But I know I will.......

And now I know why they tell us they don't want us to volunteer more than 4 hours at a time. I'm not sure I could handle more than one Xaia Experience a week.

And it's you the volunteers that make such a difference in our Childrens' Hospitals. Your post brought me joy today. It's hard sometimes working in a childrens' hospital but some folks are called to it. But to volunteer, that is a truely spectacular person. Thank you Diva for doing this.

Getting the call from my boo, that her mom's tests came back ~ she's still cancer free!

I have been struggling...

it's been hard to be of good cheer and feel hopeful...

yesterday I went to cardio-rehab, and though it's baby steps, I made All the steps and am gonna be back there tomorrow morning at 7:30 am

I went back to work today, and while it kinda sucks in some ways, I proved to myself I can do it...and, since I work freelance, I can work when I want, mostly...

I have a big trip planned next week to go east and take care of my mother...I am feeling stronger and more confident that I can do what I need to do...

And...what actually made me JoyFull was finding out that I got accepted to a juried show to which I applied...it's a really well known Bay Area holiday show...I did it last year and loved it...I had not heard anything from the application, so I finally send an email to the director of the show...she wrote back saying I got in!!...it had really boosted my spirits...I also applied to an other show, only because SF helped me with the resizing of the pictures...I haven't heard from that one, I don't think I'll get in, but I promised myself I'd apply...I am really Thrilled to be accepted to the KPFA Craft Fair which is going to be held this December....

yeah, I do know I am rambling on...luckly there is 'delete' ;)

it just feels pretty nice that the sun is shining into the house (and it is, we're having a lovely day) and I am feeling some glimmers of hope...that's okay, right?

Watching the movie "Temple Grandin" about a woman with autism long before we knew what we know today, who went on to get her doctorate and become a professor of animal husbandry in Colorado. She developed a humane way to ready cows for slaughter in that she had the ability to see their behavior and devise a system to calm them based on her own experiences. It is truly an amazing and heartwarming story of a person determined to make a difference in the world.
