I did face painting at my church today for the children's christmas party. I join my sister for it and the halloween party each year. Its what we do as sisters together. She helped them paint ornaments and I painted their faces. OMG...they were so precious..and their parents were so loving and attentive.

It was nice to put my kid skills to work again, sad to put them away tho. However, I was asked if I would be interested in doing this at other functions by some parents. For a fee! A side job! LOL. I remember I wanted to get a childrens pony party thing going both in Ohio and NH at different times so I did study up on face painting. It might be fun to do a couple more functions...

but today was so special...making them giggle and laugh, seeing their eyes get huge when they saw rudolph or frosty on their cheek...

We had our Christmas luncheon today at work. Many of the retirees come to it and ya get to see people that you only see once a year and some only every few years. To look at some of these people now and realize they were actually younger than I am now, when I started to work there sorta gives me the willy's. But it was a fun "reunion" of sorts with lots of joy, laughter, and well sometimes there are tears too amongst us.

More responsibilities at the hospital beginning Monday......I love it there! :)

about 400 docs, nurses and social workers today about advanced Alzheimer's Disease. Instead of citing stats and a powerpoint presentation of graphs and research design I decided to scrap that approach and make it interactive. I led them down a hypothetical corridor to the room where they were diagnosed with the disease. Each student had a bag of items to help them 'become' the patient. 2 keys, a bottle of pills with specific (basic) directions of how to take them (the 'pills' were M&M's and Hot Tamale candy) and a photograph of someone that was supposedly a close family member that they were to identify by name (the photos were of my family and friends).

I have never seen such energy as these professionals took this exercise to the maximum impact. They stepped into their role as a patient and the impact was beyond anything I ever suspected it would be. There were tears and laughter but best of all I think I imparted what ~ in some ways ~ it feels like to not know yourself, anyone you have loved, and the lack of capability to carry out simple tasks. It was powerful. I feel humbled to have been their instructor.

Taking my aunt to the Dr. today..recieving the wonderful news that in a month, (approximately 2 months after her right toes were amputated due to diabetes) she will finally be fitted with a shoe that will have her up and running and raising all kinds of stuff as she'd done before. We both wanted to do a little happy dance but I told her she'd have to wait til she got her shoes on! lolol....

The cute lil butch that helped my aunt at the Dr's office....she was very sweet to her, that's why I smiled. (Sorry daddy, I promise I was good).

last year I was just so grateful to be home with my family. This year, my family was so grateful I was home with them. This was the year they truly felt I was home for good and not the wandering soul I have been for a decade. We have grown so strong as a unit and they gushed all over me. And it was such a simple easy holiday. Impromptu visits, suprise gifts, new exciting types of cookies, all the old favorite traditional cookies, children laughing until they fell asleep on the floor, all the puppies together that belong to the family....oh my....it was so so so wonderful....

I am home. I HAVE a home. And there really is no place like home,...

A walk through a quiet neighborhood, time for myself to read, and sketch, no expectation, no demands on my time. I love myself, there are little things I enjoy, I don't have to be what everyone thinks I should be... So why do I try so hard to conform. Maybe its time to change that. I can live the life I want and do the things I love. There is nothing wrong with that. I can embrace what I am, and there is no shame in admitting to the things I can not do. I don't have to be superwoman, I just have to be true to myself. There is great joy in that knowledge.

my daughter called me for advice today, and help. Her sister from her father's second marriage is a troubled teen. That mother wants the girl to get out. My daughter asked me if I would take her in.

oh lord. A teen? I am still pondering this...

but the joy is over my daughter who, two years ago after I relapsed, didnt want to be part of my life, was asking me to take in her sister.

I miss the drives through the Olympic forest area...The horseback rides on the ocean...The lakes, Puget Sound...I like Portland too, but it was too small of an area for me after living in Seattle...

Driving to Kemah to get coffee and Ice, taking her to get shrimp for the Barbie she said 6 lbs. but she stands corrected as I stole a couple to use as bait so it's more like 5.9 lbs. Going to Gaveston Island State Park to check out the ocean and then cross the road to see Kayaking paddle trails, wow 3 of them, alllllll Mine!
I can't wait to go back and fish in all three of them. :praying: I have it all mapped out on which one I want to paddle in first, second and then third, I even batted my eyes and said that we should camp over night real soon :vigil: like next week, she said it's to cold, I said well it's gonna be a warm winter ~grinz~... I hinted that she could ride her bike while I kayak, and maybe just maybe she can try yak to! :rubberducky: Either way, I am excited to return and conquer!!!

Well.....one thing has led to another....he was interviewed on a radio show this morning....Bryan Williams is about to do a story on him on the Nightly News. Becoming closer friends with my first ex-gf. There's no hidden agenda, no strings attached, just friendship, yes, I am being a mentor again, but it feels cleaner, purer now. Getting a surprise call from my boss this morning....
She received a message from HR that my meeting with the Medical Director had worked out all the "glitches" with my health check and that she was very happy to welcome me on board.
But.... the BEST part of her call was, after orientation, she has assigned me to an office that is VERY near home because she trusts me and my extensive knowledge of the Program to work independently as much as possible!! That means I don't have to drive ALL the way to Charlotte every day!!
She re-arranged employee assignments so the other new girl reports to Charlotte so the boss "can focus more on her training" and sent me to the County Office so I can start working immediately with the other Coordinators.
15 minutes from home!!! And a smooooooth, easy country drive!!

Following a morning of yoga and a walk along the bayfront I decided to shop a little for someone quite special to me. I visited several small shops downtown and near the shore. I found a few objects she might hold dear to her as she makes a sacred journey. The sunshine was so bright and warm and my choices for her seemed to encompass that warmth. They shall be wrapped with care and tenderness and sent on their way for her to open and embrace them. I wish I could ship peace, joy, compassion, love and warmth through the mail to her. That is really what I wanted to do.

I got peanut butter suet for the woodpeckers and cardinals. They just love it. Now the 3 cats are all sitting in front of the french doors watching the birds at the various feeders. Their tails and heads go back and forth like a tennis match. Just adorable.

its another day and the coffee was made and drunk. The animals fed and loved on. The house is cleaned and provided me with love and security in return. If anything I have learned in this life is that each day brings not just "more of the same" but "more of the good" as long as we seek it. Joy is there no matter what. Yesterday I was having labor pain type spasms on the way home in the van trip back from Cleveland Clinic. Today, no memory of it as I sip my last cup of coffee, cherishing my curled up kitty at my feet. Live as you want to live. Not as you fear it.

The past two weeks the little girl scout girls have been coming door to door to sell those wonderful cookies so they can get a badge....I have purchased cookies from EVERY single one of them that knocks on my door but have been so good. I have given away all the cookies....until today this little girl had a better marketing strategy. Her parents purchased all the cookies upfront so she had everything on hand....of course I could not resist another sweet girl scout who wants her badge so bad. She had such a defeated look on her face LOL I got suckered and bought her last 20 boxes ......this time I did open one box of thin mints yum!

Needless to say I have some kind of will power....they are all in the garage now! I need to donate these somewhere or give them out ASAP!

It reminded me of a time last winter...I came out of the grocery store, it was snowing...and I was exhausted at the end of a very long and difficult week.

I always remember where I parked...except that day.

I was literally walking in circles in the snow, carrying my groceries, just at the end of my rope...when an elderly lady stopped, rolled down her window and says "did you lose your car?"

When I said yes, she gestured me over to her car (not scary....she was probably 75) and said, "get in honey...let's find it."

She drove up and down the rows until I found my car, then waited until I had myself and my groceries inside and the engine started before she drove away. :rrose:

My boss came in the kitchen and ask me to help her wiht something but tokinda keep it between us,she has a new person to work in her office thats is finaly geting a job and an appartment in a safe place but has nothing beond that..for the last year has been liveing at the womens shelter.Sh has zip,nada and sleeping on the floorin blankets.Well it's Rockin to the rescue,we jaust had lunch and u bet we had tons of leftovers...packeup and sent to her office for the new person,I packed enough things in a huge box for her to set up her appartment,cook with and on,dishes knives and forks..lots of house stuff.My son piled it all in the car a bit ago,no its not the anser to everythig butshe has a fue things to get started all over again..feels good to help.I have so much stuff hear its good to give them to a person who needs it.
