Today has been a MOST joyous day!!!!
First, I saw many, many folks that I've been thinking about and got the chance to wish them a happy holiday.
Then, I talked with my honey, which almost always makes my day light and joyous.
And then, my bank GAVE me money!!!!!!! Yes, oh yes, they did! Okay, well it could be deemed a cancellation of a couple of fees, but they gave it BACK to me (which evens out, but STILL!). My bank gave me money today! :giggle:
Finally, my boss and I called around and worked out where we'll be getting our Christmas chow from tomorrow night. I think I may surprise him with some leftovers from lunch too, maybe.
Today's been a GREAT day and...........I GET TO OPEN PRESSIES WHEN I GET HOME!!!!!! :bluesbrothers:

What is bringing me joy at this very moment:
I get off of work in an hour and get to call my honey and open my pressie!
I'm STILL smiling from memories long ago, but fresh as a daisy in my mind.
Imagining a friend looking like this ---> :tiredcomputer:
I'm at a very good place today, in every way. I feel as if the Universe and those inside SEE me today.
Being seen and heard. Very powerful and very soothing.
Making plans for tomorrow.
Knowing that, even when I don't feel it, that I am loved.
Feeling it! :awww:

Snow!!!
I can't believe it snowed today ... it never snows here! It was so cute watching my dogs running and playing in it. And I got to wear a hat and scarf while taking a walk, which it a big deal here in Texas. It's hardly ever cold enough for winter accessories.
My Rat Pack Christmas cd.
Hot chocolate with whipped cream.
My quiet, peaceful, uncomplicated life ... even if it is rather solitary at times.

Now, I won't lie. The presents I have received have been wonderful! However, it's the events....the people.....the atmosphere and crackle of something special in the air that has brought my joy meter to the very tippy top. Those near and far have touched my heart today and for days to come. I feel very blessed.

Waking up this Christmas morning with my angel. Getting up and the two of us preparing gingerbread pancakes and maple sausage, then calling the kiddo to come over for breakfast.
That was followed by the three of us opening our presents.
Such a sweet and precious morning for us to share. The first Christmas of many, shared together.

There is a book I found helpful with that very thing. It would bring me joy to share that info with you.(gotta keep the title of the thread in mind, right? lol)
It's called, Forgive and forget. Healing the hurts we don't deserve. By Lewis B. Smedes. There are points in the book that are a little "God geared". If that's not a manner of thinking for you, I know you're a smart cookie and can apply the words to yourself in a manner that is. Anyway, It helped me.
I would offer to send it to you but, I loaned it out and never got it back. (yes I have forgiven them! lol.)
Peace to you in your journey.

* doing some organization in my sleeping space
* plugging one of those Airwicky things in so my bedroom smells like a tropical paradise
* sleeping with my favorite furbuddy when her mom wasn't there
* shopping and finding all kinds of goodies on sale
* catching up on some sleep
* looking at nude pics and not hating the girl (actually I felt kinda bad that she felt that the only way to get ahead in the modeling world was to post these photos on her webpage) or more importantly, not hating myself and breaking down all the things about me that aren't great/lovely/perfect/etc. I just looked. No criticism for her or myself. This is a major improvement, I believe.

* using reusable bags at the store instead of taking more plastic ones
* taking time for myself
* laughing with my boo
* arguing with my boo (What? It's an Italian thing, I guess.)
* the number on the scale coming in at under 150 (just barely, but it counts, by George!)
We argued??:argue: How did I miss that? Maybe cuz I'm not Italian? The laughing part was great! I DO remember that. :flowers::superfunny::cheer::jester::balloon::chee sy:

Passionately discussing things would be a better description, I think, or giving each other gruff about stuff. Actual arguing sucks big hair greasy donkey balls.
Today, a guest came in that I had spent a LOT of time with on the phone while making her reservation and she:
1. remembered me
2. still liked me (that changes between reservation and check in sometimes)
3. said THANK YOU! (people do NOT do this often enough)
4. loves NCIS as much as I do
I'm very glad that she will be here for several days. I'm going to need her good energy and positive juju to deal with a notoriously difficult complainer tonight and the next couple of nights too.

But it brought me so much joy to think that they want to include me in this :nurseshot: field to help as many as we can!

today I spoke with the realtor and this week I am to sign the contract to purchase my new home. After only a year back in Ohio, I am purchasing roots. And I am paying cash for it so there will be NO mortage. I will inherit a large garden plot, that has been tended for decades by old earth gardeners. There is a beautiful pergola heavy with grape vines, right by the 2 car garage that has a gardening work station in it. I am in awe...simply in awe....how blessed I am...my heart is filled with joy!

I:
*had a good convo with my honey this morning
*got lots of snuffly soft puppy love
*was in and out of the devil store in less than hour (more than I wanted to spend there, but less than usual)
*my fabulous dinner was less than 325 calories (a pleasant surprise)
*all the guests are behaving themselves (thus far)
*being able to let go and move forward (Life's too short to dwell on negative stuff!)
*am getting ready to send out a bunch of goodies to a bunch of folks
*found an interesting V~Day pressie for my honey
*locked my housemates out of the house (It was accidental and we all had a chuckle over it, but not fun for them initially. Maybe now they'll get more than 1 key between the 3 of them.)

She makes lazy day Sundays even better, because she lays on the couch with me
She ran out to get snacks
She picks me up a Coke in a can that she says is for me, but then she drinks it
She made me hunt and gather dinner
She didn't complain when I returned with pizza
She hunted and gathered breakfast tacos
She makes the coffee in the morning

Waking up to SNOW!!! I know some people are completely overwhelmed with snow right now, but for me … it’s beautiful and joyous and oh, so quiet. I love the quiet that comes with a blanket of snow.
It is unusual to get snow in Texas; normally we just get ice storms, so this was an unexpected joy.
And, to make things even better, my boss texted me this morning and said I could work from home today!!!
Being able to watch my falcon in the backyard, preen in a sunbeam, brought me joy this morning.

I have NEVER, in all my life, had such a caring, responsible, respectful, compassionate and helpful Landlord and Landlady!!! THEY ARE AMAZING!! After renting from such compassionate, good-hearted, hardworking souls for going on 3 years... I don't think I ever want to leave this place and have decided "Why buy a house and deal with all the frustration and extra costs?" ..."Why move when everything [property wise and heat included] is taken care of and they LOVE my doggies?" I never have to worry about maintenance or getting things fixed...one call gets the job done (even if the job takes 2 weeks to finish...like the broken heater...)
After 3 days of stressing over shoveling out my car AGAIN (after another 20 inches plus HUGE drifts from my yard to over top of my car...), I was just ready to wait till spring and had laid down for nap-time with my cuddle-bugs...when I get this call from my Landlord..."Get your shoes on and bring me your car keys." When I got down stairs and looked outside, the overwhelming feeling of "WOW, they did this just for me?", really made my day!! (especially after such a horrible start...)
He and his buddies had brought their own snow plow to clear out around my car and my parking space...(I was so worried I couldn't get out before Friday for a special doctor appointment)...and for two days, have been here with snow-blowers and shovels. I didn't even have to scrape my windshields! They even cleaned off my back patio and a bigger patch for the dogs to "go". I am so happy to rent from such caring, helpful neighbors and friends. They NEVER let me go without or stress over house stuff. (Now, there's a MOUNTAIN of snow behind my car that won't melt till next August! LOL) Their help and unselfishness really made my day!
Last summer/fall, when our Governor decided NOT to pay any State employees or the vendors (who have a multitude of their own employees to provide for), but made us work...without unemployment benefits or ANY other form of income... I was in a panic, afraid I couldn't pay the rent... but my Landlady said "it's okay hon, we got your back, we understand, just pay us when you can". WOW... not many property owners would do that...especially when they have their own mortgage to pay.
There are many other very nice things they have done for me...especially give me a safe place to live in peace and many freedoms... but I just wanted to write a small dedication to these people, who bring joy to me just by doing small deeds such as being a "REAL NEIGHBOR" and caring about their tenants.
This is what HOME feels like...a neighborhood where we each care about the other and do nice things to help out when we can...neighbors/landladies/landlords that you can trust.

Woot! Call me when the snow melts. :cheesy:
I don't have a particularly joyful feeling right now, at least not in the way the thread intended. I have been receiving calls at work from a collections company.....for a car I was stupid enough to cosign for. Never do that, children. No, no. It brings very bad juju, especially since I haven't seen the car in years, never drove it, and it's been repossessed and resold already. They're coming after me for the fees associated with the repo and the sale.
Yeah.
Joy.
Well, my brief moment of joy came when they called me at work again tonight and I gave them a piece of my mind and then firmly hung up. Apparently, I pissed the rep off because she called me right back. Damn the whole not having caller id thing at work! *sigh* Well, she got another piece of my mind, before she hung up on me this time. Hrmph. I got pissed at her again for calling me back (1) and then hanging up on me (2). Then, I had to laugh at myself. And her. The whole situation sucks.
The lesson for today is to NEVER cosign for a vehicle, children. Never ever. Not even if they promise you whipped cream, sprinkles and TWO cherries on top. :1femme:

I burst out laughing at work just now because I remembered June's face when I woke her up at the last Femme Conference by blasting "Beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson.
She screeched something about my "cacaphony of noise" and shot me the dirtiest look known to mankind.

Magnolia x soulangiana
I pruned the bejesus out of one and brought home cuttings for my first attempt at propagation, possibly via air layering (http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/extension/ornamentals/airlayer/airlayer.html).

Asexual propagation :awww:
I've done this with my jade several times. It's the only way that has worked because my jade cuttings always rot.
Good luck :)

Thank you!
I just learned about air layering the other day when I discovered a Crepe (Crape, if you prefer) Myrtle with these odd aluminum foil packets wrapped on some branches. Someone was air layering off a live tree outside a coffee shop, very mysterious!

Taking a dear friend (who needed a friend) out to dinner at Panera and allowing her to use me as a sounding board... dropping her off at home and getting a big warm hug of thanks and seeing her smile for the first time in days.
Ummm..., and one other delightful, thought-provoking, respectful, passionate (for various life experiences...not phone sex ;) ), two-way conversation...where I never felt like I was "talking to a wall". This made me surprised to find out "I'm not the only one."
And...

I get fru-ssages on my cell every morning. They just melt me, hearing the joy in her voice. Sometimes its a sexy message, sometimes its a fun message, sometimes a sleepy message. But all of them bring me such joy.

I have many things to be joyful about today!
One, I get the weekend OFF!!! And there is NO WAY I can be called in!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA
Two, I get to see some friends I've been aching to see for a while (and meet some others I've wanted to).
Three, I get ********! tee hee :giggle:
Four, there was free pizza when I came in to work!
Five, I survived the new waxer!!! Weeeeeeeeee!
Six, I missed the photo shoot this morning (not the fun kind)! Yesssssss!
Seven, I got goodies, yes I do! I've got goodies, how about you?
Eight, my duckies are lining up nicely now. All they have to do is "just keep swimming".

I walked Dino to the mailbox, and you would have thought I was walking him 30 miles. :wtf: He was not in the mood to go outside in the cold, and the snow. It didn't matter his sweater and booties matched either. He was not in the mood. And then it happened...the foxy lady tea cup poodle came around the corner, and Dino was a new boy. :cupid: The two of them had to smell each other for a good 10 min. and compare sweaters and booties. Go figure. It sure did put smiles on their parents faces. :walking-poodle:
Scheduled play dates are next. And phone numbers were exchanged. All in the name of love. :junesmiley::heartbeat::dogwalking:

Being cranky because I spent 40 bucks on pizza that I don't want to eat.. (I don't LIKE the new domino's pizza..:whine:) then my baby going to the store to pick me up some peanut butter/apricot jam/bread to I can have a pb and j...
It's really the little things that brings me joy... I've never had someone who *Does* for me like this...
I am blessed...

Walking out of the airport into the warmth and sunshine of the south.
Seeing my girls and their children and having lunch with them all.
Spending some much needed time laughing and smiling.
Walking around holding my youngest grandson and having him rest his sweet little red head on my shoulder.
Listening to the constant jibberish and chatter that kids do whether or not you acknowledge them.
Sitting in wonder at how their little minds work.
Paying attention as my older daughter tells me something that's weighing on her heart, knowing that she just needs an ear right now, and not necessarily advice or input.

A very beautiful, peaceful, delightful day spent enjoying the sunshine and a good meal with my family. No fighting, squabbling, spatting, or :slapfight::explode:... just having a nice time enjoying eachother's company and feeling at peace that Mom is in better health than this time last year. Then enjoying the drive home right at sunset.
Thinking about Monday and my courage to finally facilitate a meeting with my old HR office... to get a weight lifted off my shoulders and DO SOMETHING about the abuse that still goes on even after my resignation. My joy comes from making things better for those I left behind.

a few things brought me joy today, here's the rundown
1. coffee, even though it was instant because my coffee maker hates me.
2. sleeping in after a late night
3. waking up to an unread text telling me that I was missed.
4. hearing her voice, doesn't really matter what she says, it still sounds like music.
and last but not least...
5. having a long silly conversation with a new friend about nothing at all and just laughing until my cheeks hurt.
I'm thankful for the little things, I have the best friends a boi could want and I'm truly blessed to have a best friend that makes me feel loved and important. have a great day everyone and remember to smile, find joy in the small things.
