Today I am grateful for the little yellow house in Seattle,Lambda Houston(shout out to the noon meeting), meetings in the Castro SF and the East Bay and for all the friends who have help me along the path. Today I celebrate 25 years of being Clean and Sober. Today makes everything possible in my life, it is my New years.For Dawn, who said I did not have to live like that anymore in the dressing room of the Lusty Lady(Seattle), Nikki C. my first sponsor who loved me. To Keith (RIP) who offered his couch and gave me back my first taste of kindness and humanity by drawing me a bubble bath the night before I went to treatment. For all the lunches at Luby's, love me a LuAnn special, to Ally,Sheila,and Vince we keep trudging. Andrew I love you, and to my BFF Marilyn F you have without doubt been the best part of the last three years. A special remembrance goes to those who I/WE lost to HIV in the 80's who showed me how to live sober. and as Chris F. said to me once, "The Sun light of the Spirit", yes I am grateful and humbled by those who trudge this road of happy destiny. I will keep coming back, and give away what has been so freely given to me...:praying:

Handling some home stuff--scheduled carpet and upholstery cleaning, taking the small area rug in for cleaning, ordered new curtains for the living room and dining area, and talked to the carpet installers about repairing a seam.

The smartest thing was ordering curtains in the shorter length--away from the heating vents and pet hair balls.

Sprucing up the living space brings me joy!

What brought me joy today...

Lower humidity this morning, so my hair didn't frizz the minute I walked out the door.

Plans after work for margaritas at my favorite restaurant patio, with my friend, ol' one-eyed Willy, that I haven't seen in months!

A cousin, that is more like a brother to me, is coming into town from Florida, to spend Father's Day (& a couple extra days) with my mom & dad. We haven't seen him in 5 years!

It's Friday, with a great weekend weather forcast, and my pool is calling my name! Time to soak up some sunshine on my floaty!

After a long day of chores and sore feet...
Watering my little garden while watching a really beautiful sunset... with ABSOLUTELY no buildings or other city obstacles to get in the way of my view of a broad horizon of pink and orange sunset with one very bright star (maybe a planet) and the crescent moon (both visible before the sun went down). The only thing on the horizon was trees, farm land, the skies at sunset and lots of fireflies over the fields and wild flowers (weeds) near my garden.

I am finally OUT of the city, it's noise and obstacles... I breathed a sigh of relief tonight while watching the sunset.

Now I can't wait for my yellow tomatoes to grow!!

What brought me joy today....

Spending yesterday with my family. We celebrated Father's Day, my brother's birthday & my cousin (that's more like a brother) being in town. We went to my dad's favorite restaurant, overlooking the bayou, and had the BEST fried fish (& coldest beer) EVER! We haven't spent time together as a family in YEARS! It brought back all the good memories & pushed away the bad ones.... and in that instant I felt at peace.

Came home last night to find that Jack had crabbed all the laundry and washed the dog. As a matter of fact, I think she washed every surface in the house :|
We then sat down to a lovely steak dinner, did a little cleaning up in the bedroom, watched a good movie, snuggled, and slept soundly on clean sheets. This morning, we had our normal coffee routine together and then when I was in the shower she brought my iPod stereo and blasted some Beyonce for me.

The "correction/repair/fix" that the stylist who screwed up my hair on Tuesday attempted on Wednesday was merely a shorter version of Tuesday's tragedy. She gave me the "Old Woman Pixie Cut" or as the stylist who rescued me last night calls it "PTA lady hair."

My friend who owns my favorite metaphysical/BoHo store in Concord recommended I contact her stylist. A woman with some 30+ years experience who works at, of all places, Supercuts. I thought to myself "Hmmmmmmmm....wonder what she can do for me...can't possibly be any worse than what I have now....but I am running out of hair..."

She gave me the most adorable cut that is exactly what I wanted and more! Up to date, modern, sassy, cute, funky and totally me! She was so totally in tune with me, something I did not expect. Definitely found a new stylist!

I watch freecycle and craigs list like a hawk, and today I was able to get tons and tons of bulletin board items, wall poster, music tapes, lesson plan activity books, etc from a retiring teacher, for my daughter who just graduated from college in elementary ed. All of this was FREE! She now has a good start to stock her first classroom with!

The movie "Hachi - A Dog's Tale" with Richard Gere. It is rated G, but a fabulous movie. Hachi was identical to my last dog, Lily. The only difference was in color. Lily was brown/black. Just a lovebug! I highly recommend it.

Having my oldest niece and nephew spend the last three days with me.

Watching my oldest niece's eyes light up when we walked into the Sanrio store yesterday in the Mall at Millenia in Orlando....Then watching her do the heart dance at the Build a Bear store while putting her Hello Kitty doll together...

Joking around with two teenagers and a nine year old on the way home yesterday from Orlando....Having my nephew get my umbrella stuck in the escalator ramp and watching him try to figure out how to get it unstuck and laughing at the whole scene...

Waking up early to decorate the house for my gf's birthday today. I hung up a banner & streamers, put random cards throughout the house & her truck...and ran to the donut shop to get her some fresh rainbow sprinkle covered donuts for breakfast. The many wonderful friends in my life brings me joy ... not just today but everyday.

Of course, have to mention ... my dog, Kelly, is my #1 Best Friend Always. ;) I plan to post a new photo of her shortly with her latest "surprise." If I come home from the grocery store or from anywhere and I have packages, she gets so excited to see what I bought especially for her. Kelly is hilarious! Yes, indeed, a great joy to hang with -she always makes me laugh out loud.

we opted to go to Perkins after the AA meeting instead of coming over to Rose Cottage. MY sister came over before I left for the meeting and she told me the house smelled like dog. My poor old girl has had a couple accidents in the house...her dementia is getting worse. I decided to get the rugs shampooed before I hostess! Thank heavens for the honesty of sisters!

We had SO much fun at Perkins! I havent been to a restaurant with friends in years! These folks in AA are so wonderful....I feel so at home with all of them...now thats recovery when it is joyful !!!

My best friend, Mac, called LD today. We're in our 40th year of friendship.
(She's a day older than I am; we met when we were 14.)

She's also 31 pounds lighter than I am thanks to her new diet
that she raved about today (i hate her, lol).

I told her about my T injections and about "this side" of life. She's very accepting and cool with everything just as I have always been with her life.

That's what makes us life long friends, in part. It was great hearing from her.

I'm giddy with joy at getting yet another promotion. I'm now getting a new title: Technical Lead. Although I will teach, I don't think I will be teaching as much. I suspect I'll be doing more research to help instructors. I'm really looking forward to this as it will allow me to spend a fair amount of my time researching stuff and ensure I get a regular paycheque (salaried) rather than a cheque dependent on hours worked.
