I am official! As of today I am a regular writer for Leatherati. I will be commenting on the Bay Area Leather Community, other things as I attend them and writing some op pieces. The name of the column is Debbie Does The Bay. This, however, does not give anyone the right to call me Debbie.
My first piece goes live on Friday!!!!!!
For those of you who don't know I wrote for Lavender Press, in MN for about 7 years and Of A Like Mind (An international women's spirituality mag) for about 15 years.
Wooooooo hooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

I went with Ms. Tabitha so she could adopt a dog.....a precious L'asa Apso (sp?).
And THEN she said.....Oh Janey....let's (LET'S) go look at the KITTIES! (Inside my head, I said....I'm a goner!") I walked slowly.....
I'm thinking....baby girl kitteh. One. Female. ONE.
And then I saw them.............2 little 4-month-old Siamese boy kittehs......
Now.......I have 2 little 4-month-old Siamese boy kittehs home to Chez Diva's.
THEY. ARE. ADORABLE.
Even LUCY likes them....okay, SORTA! They are home.....they are already box-trained and little purr-buckets!!! I'm about to post pics in my Gallery so You can see JUST how precious they are!

Watching the movie "Temple Grandin" about a woman with autism long before we knew what we know today, who went on to get her doctorate and become a professor of animal husbandry in Colorado. She developed a humane way to ready cows for slaughter in that she had the ability to see their behavior and devise a system to calm them based on her own experiences. It is truly an amazing and heartwarming story of a person determined to make a difference in the world.
I LOVE this movie!

My sweetheart running up to the store to buy me brownies because I had to have them now, couldn't wait fourty mins for them to bake.. I need choc now please... Grin..
Last but not least... the thing that brought me to this thread..
Fixing my necklace.. Putting the charms back on it, changing out the clasp... It was so lovely to walk over to my desk, pick up the tools I needed and get the job done.. Sigh... I wear it everyday to hold my keys and my ID badge and it has been breaking every day.. Every day I would say that I need to fix it and by the time I get home, I didn't have the energy...

I ordered my birthday cake today and it will be a decadent delight! No cupcakes this year. I decided to get what I want for a change after all it is my birthday...
There is a wonderful cake shop here in Charlotte called Edible Art and their cakes are to die for! Their cakes are more expensive than most bakeries in the area but they are well, well, well worth it. (And so am I!) From scratch poundcake no cake mixes used. (Yes, there are bakeries here that use mixes and their products are gross. No frozen cakes either.)

Joy is seeing a Fox News story pop up on my Facebook wall. Because then I get to leave an intelligent, thoughtful, progressive comment challenging the status quo according to the Fox audience. It stirs all the little Fox Newies up and gets them all mad and then all they can do is name-call.
It's like Halloween and Christmas all wrapped up in one. I say something smart and respectful and the flurry of rage that ensues is like watching a huge, cluster of anger-balls explode.
Joy (though, the slightly evil kind). :girldevil:

Creamy, soft, melt in your mouth Maple Walnut Fudge that someone gave me as a treat...absolutely delicious and so worth every calorie!!
Having someone (that's a great cook like me) help me in the kitchen to make a wonderful yummy dinner.
Someone caring about me enough to take care of me, tucking me into bed for a nap and putting medicine on my sore feet after I came home exhausted.
Having several great friends (that I met from BFP) that feel comfortable with me and trust me whole-heartedly to open up to me about private issues that are near and dear to them; issues that may make them feel vulnerable, but they know I would never betray their confidence, that I will do everything within my power to help them and work together to resolve things, or come up with good ideas to make things better...and how they are always there for me when I have serious questions about intimate things or Identity or Community related concerns. Having made such great friends is a wonderful feeling. It's hard to imagine life without them now. I am so happy that I didn't leave this (Our) Community when I was being intimidated and being told that I didn't belong and being dictated to about who I could and couldn't interact with. The connections I've made here have really impacted and affected my life in a VERY positive, validating, amazing way.
Christie brought me joy the other evening....for the way she treated me with such respect and support. Much appreciated!!

A very big storm was passing and the wind picked up. The trees were bending and things flying around. I ran out to close the barn and put up animals worried there would be a bad storm. As I walked up to the house a large group of yellow and brown leaves spiraled l like a mini tornado. Then it was shooting patterns, like they were dancing. I couldnt stop watching even though the sky became dark and you could hear lightening crackling. It was the most amazing thing I think I've ever seen. It was like magic.

Oh my dearest Sweet! You humble me with your friendship - truly.
As to what brought me joy today - well, yesterday, really...
Driving home after a very stressful work/health week... seeing that pink/purple sunset over the tops of the mountains and hearing this song on the radio... knowing that I am a Family (Wo)Man... while all of the lyrics aren't true of my life, the sentiment that my family is what keeps me going when I don't feel like I have the strength to do one more thing, to drive one more mile...
They are the drive behind my coming home...

while I was out with my daughter, we stepped into a public restroom. I took off my coat and my daughter, who had been looking in the mirror, spun around and grabbed me and made me turn toward her so she could look at me. She asked me if I had a tummy tuck! I lifted my sweater and showed her my 4 incision marks where I had my surgery and told her THEY were responsible for my new figure.
Tonight I wore my tightest fitting pants from five years ago. I literally slid into them and had to curl and fold the waist line (which is button and zippered) around a couple times to make them stay up.
I need to buy new clothes and yet dont dare because it is still coming off.
the biggest miracle is how I dont have an "apple" belly, as one of my exes use to call it (which really hurt my feelings)..its slim and flat, which is why my daughter asked me if I had a tummy tuck. NO more roundness.
I am unable to believe what I see in the mirror...but I do believe how I feel. My health is SO much better!

First, two horrifically evil people tried to pull my heartstrings and make me want the cutest lil black Chi-doxie doggie. The doggie was in on in too. Though I think he's precious and adorable and he has fantastic taste, we're in no place to have a pet now. But I appreciated the effort and had a good time with the furbaby.
Second, I met a new friend tonight and she rocks.

I loved her outfit and how she brought attention to whats been happening with the recent suicides of gay teens due to bullying. I was never bullied for being gay (cuz I wasn't out in high school) but was teased and tormented due to My weight so I know how horrible being bullied can be ......... I agree with her, it needs to end NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breakfast with a stranger.
We went down to the hotel lobby for the free breakfast. Well there is also a tour group staying here, so the tables were all full. One lady was just reading her paper, taking up a table for four and another gentleman was just having coffee, at a table for four. I was grrrrrr. The gentleman having coffee saw me trying to find a table for me and The Boy and offered that we could join him. What wonderful company.
Turns out he is a native to Savannah (he was in his early/mid 60s, and I'm pretty sure gay). He is one of the tour guides for the group. What a witty, honest, open wealth of information. He recommended a restaurant that we will have lunch at today that was an old bording house and still serves meals at big tables where you gather with new friends. He told us the best place to catch the dolphins over on Tybee Island....for free. Told us stories and 'inside' history about Savannah. Just a truely delightful gentleman.
Made the entire trip! What a positive way to start the day. May his hospitality and kindness be returned to him ten-fold.

The pair of barred owls calling to each other in the woods outside my apartment...
The raven (definitely NOT a crow) I saw in downtown Concord this afternoon. It was sitting on top of the old Courthouse announcing its presence at the top of its lungs.
On my drive home I saw a squirrel performing a high wire act (sans net) over East Blvd...it was carrying what looked like a hickory nut in its mouth...
Also on the drive home, the very large black dog halfway out of the sun roof of a Smart Car...looked like something from a parade...LOL
The unexpected gift of a small, intricately carved rhinoceros from a friend...

:crap:Due to various circumstances I found myself aboard the municipal robo truck today watching the sewer cam snaking through the sewers, upstream amongst downflowing turds and wads of toilet paper flowing in real time as people flushed toilets, measuring the spaces between lateral pipes, etc. Many spiders live under our streets, and white outcroppings of some sort of fungi or bacterial colonies. The fellows operating the sewercam were quite amusing in their assessments of the view: "That guy's got a bad ass" (lol) upon passing a particularly congealed and discolored lateral. It was quite fascinating to view the sewage system under the streets- it's amazing how simple low-tech (gravity) engineering so effectively transports our waste to the municipal treatment authority and keeps us clean and healthy mere inches from our homes. A glimpse of something so essential yet seldom seen (at least by me). Fascinating and fun! :crap:

I love places like that - two of my local favorites (both on the web) are The Bag Lady here in Charlotte and Little Feather in Concord. Another favourite, but alas not on the web, is Seven Silver Seas in Maggie Valley. Everything from Little Feather, especially the bags and tissue, smells like the shop. When my boss's dog and I stop in at lunch the scent from the shop gets in his fur and he smells so yummy! Little Feather is the "happy place" of downtown Concord. The energy in there is amazing. If I am having a difficult day all I have to do is walk in the door and the ick disappears.
Sending you loads of positive energy and well wishes concerning the job interview.

My little kitty bringing me a "present" this morning. Since she is 100% indoors these presents always consist of what is left of her favorite toy mouse and delivered with great fanfare...sometimes in the middle of the night. Smacky is 13 years old and she's loved both ears, the nose, one eye and most of the fur off of him. His remaining fur, as is his tail, is pretty stiff from years of cat spit.
I will hear my kitty coming from the other side of the house meowing loudly, though somewhat muffled because her mouth is full. As she gets closer, she gets louder. I can tell how fast she is traveling because the shot inside her little friend is rattling up a storm. Rounding the corner, tail held high, still meowing, she proudly trots over to me and drops Smacky at my feet. Naturally I make a huge fuss over her which makes her a very happy kitty and me a very happy kitty-mommy.
the sun was coming up this morning as I opened my eyes...and that was a treat...
I woke up, literally, on the wrong side of the bed...it was quite disconcerting...and, for a moment painful...but then I was afforded some grace and it made me smile with loving memories...
I feel more reminded of peace...and self confidence...and clarity...
it's good...and In am thankful...
now, if only I could come up with the right food to feed this constant feeling of hunger, I'd be golden :)

Watching the Chilean miners being rescued on Live feed since 3am! Making me cry seeing these men reunited with their families. Enjoying listening to the miners talk down in the mine and the cheers going up when the capsule emerges each time from the hole.

No one ~ in my silly ol' opinion ~ should be crazy in love with SpongeBob Squarepants.....but today, I saw a little girl who was so jazzed that we [FINALLY!] had SBSP in stock at the DCMC Family Resource Center (library) she was beside herself with joy!
And when she left, I was still smiling, thinking how such a little thing could give someone so much joy.....and why can't WE be the same way?
She is my new hero.
(But no, I still won't watch The Bob and his pants.....no, no, no....)

another day
another chance for love
that my 'babies' are all healthy & happy (and a wee bit nuts)
that Spirit loves me just as I am and NEVER gives up on me
that first cup of coffee in the morning
the Grace that keeps me going, even when I don't want to
the love that shows up in my life, in so many different ways....
waking up this morning to nearly single digits. 10 days to completeness

What brought me joy...
sitting on the front porch yesterday, carving pumpkins and watching the sky turn the beautiful shades of cotton candy (my favorite time of day).
roasting pumpkin seeds and munching on them while watching all my ghost adventure/paranormal state shows.
still celebrating monthly anniversaries... almost 3 years later! (today it's 33)
countdowns!
catching myself in full daydream mode.
