I took my three year old grand daughter to her first horse and tack auction. She sat for FIVE hours during the sale, waiting until 1130PM for the horses to come out (tack sells first, and its an evening sale) omg...she was almost falling asleep until they rigged the area up for the horses. She clapped her hands and held them to her face and her eyes widened...she giggled and sparkled and squealed...everyone around us was SO enjoying her reaction. people remarked over and over how wonderful it was to see someone so young be so in love with horses!

She got a horse brush, a new helmet, a pony saddle blanket and some flowers at the auction. This kid is SO my kid! LOL.

It does bring me great joy to have a grand child who loves horses so much. She came to us this way...all we did was put her together with them. I am so glad we kept her pony, Tull. (as in Jethro)

To me that's exactly what home should be. I'm hypersensitive and I can't dwell or thrive very well in a place that is always noisy, hectic or chaotic. my grand daughter spent the night again and we bought her a dinosour egg, the kind you pop into water and 12 hours later, it hatches. Lord love a duck! She was so delighted with this simple thing! She checked it all the time, and this morning discovered it had cracked open and is slowly drifting apart to reveal the stegasarous!

Between chasing the kitties and bothering the chihuahua (we are careful with her with him) and playing with the toy horses, she is having a blast and this, brings us joy!

It was a couple days ago now but....


I made it a point to stop at Harper's Ferry, WV on my way home to NC.

I'm a history buff firstly and, secondly, my eldest daughter stopped there and loved it.

I walked around with the dogs and saw so many beautiful old houses and historic markers. It's a living history town so truly...it is an awesome place for anyone who loves history.

Many things were closed due to the late hour. (It was a Friday night but mostly everything was closed by 8 or 9.)

There was an incredible candy store which had candy from throughout the ages, starting in the 1500s. Coolness :)

I also took an impromptu ghost tour which also told some local history. Can't recommend that enough if you go.

As part two of my happy journey, I traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway nearly in its entirety. I missed about 90 miles at the beginning. It was truly like a postcard picture around every turn. I stopped at Mabry Mills which I'd always wanted to see.

It's entirely worth it to skip the fast, easy way and take the long way home. It was a life experience that I will never forget <3

Spent the morning showing my popup camper to a young couple. They bought it, but what brought me joy was knowing all the memories they will be making with their little boy in the next few years.

Yesterday I discovered a young man at the Gem & Mineral show who made some really cool jewelry. He makes Lemurian Medicine Bags....he flattens several kinds of wire, puts amazing crystals inside & makes intricate wraps over the whole thing!

I was "drawn" to his lemurian energy. Today I went back, taking all my stones I found here, and traded for the one I loved most plus I got a rainbow fluorite pipe....score. He was in love with my stones, talked about their positive energies....his partner fell in love with a huge sapphire stone I had....he gave me $50 worth of palosanto wood sticks. They are super incredible smelling & make great smudge sticks.

I am super happy. I found two crystal points lying on ground & a bag of goodies by the trash can...red jasper, rose quartz crystals, 2 hematite magnets, and a lion carved from a polished stone.....

My Lemurian bag is almost 4 inches long & 1.5 " wide..I LOVE it..oh the stones inside it?

i was going to post in the what made you smile thread, but its more than a smile. i feel so much joy!

my love treated me to a massage/chiro visit, that’s a damn nice thing to do. That right there gives me so much joy.

The massage therapist was amazing,and it was a great connection. i am SO picky about how i let massage me, i’ve had a few that have been mediocre so i am reluctant. Doing massage all i do is analyze :(

She was simply amazing, she worked on my old broken arm and shoulder, which is scary with my injury and i now have a MUCH improved range of motion.

its probably going to be sore as hell tomorrow but i don’t care!

i am also getting an adjustment next week and woohooo these old bones are going to be so happy!

Reason yesterday...

I finished my MAP training. I got a 90% on my pre test and passed my med pass....all on the first try!

Now I can sit for my test and get certified. It's a requirement for my job so I'm super glad to get it out of the way....

Attending a training session, followed by the AGM, of the derby league I'm in. Watching the rookies play Daisy - they were so good! - and the A-team doing their practices. It made me feel really happy. It's been a good day!

Seeing my cat eating! She has been sick for weeks and I've been feeding her bone stock and cat milk through a syringe every three hours, over nights, you name it. The last 48 hours she has started eating solid food on her own again and is starting to wander around the house again instead of sleeping in her carrier crate - which is all she's been doing for weeks. Today she ran over to the bowl of dry cat food and ate and ate and ate. Yay!

The pure joy, love, and laughter of my elderly, sweet neighbors when I delivered their fresh, local veggies and Christmas presents (framed pictures of them during our summer trip to the ice cream shop and berry patch). If there was ever pure joy and love, it was from them today.

And on my next delivery to other retired, dear friends... their welcoming, open arms ready for greetings and hugs, and their happiness and giddy laughter at receiving three cases of brand new wine bottles to use for their next batch of homemade blueberry or muscadine wine.

They are all such dear, precious folk. I adore them so much and it does my heart good to see them so happy.

My sister offering to help me build my house and telling me she will MAKE TIME to be here during the build. (She served 20+ years in the military, which made it hard for us to spend time together doing stuff)
She's not taking college classes this year and will drive from out of state when I need her.
We also made plans to attend a few events in Asheville and Snow Camp in spring.
She's just as excited as I am about building my place.

Saturday- attending a really positive energy women's march in a small town that I love.
After the march, wandering town holding hands with my partner, popping into small independent shops, finding lots of home made goods, tasty food, and kind people.
Today: Quality down time both alone and with my partner.

The construction crew showed up and they are intalling the second floor of my eight horse stall barn. Let's just say I'm very happy and I want it completed. The weather has been kind of brutal with the rain and snow, but I still want it copleted so that the electrician, plumbers and the solar companies can finish up their part. Just before I was preparing to leave, I was able to wiggle out of a two hour meeting at the other building

I become so bored at lengthy meetings ... have a tendency to start picking at my neighbors which at times has brought on stern looks from managers. But once in a while, if I exert extreme clown behaviors, I can get them to laughing too.

Today I am finding joy in the little things that feel sooo big. My daughter called this morning, giving me an update on her day, and the little voice in the back ground.. all I could hear was 'Hi Nana! hi Nana!' and her kisses being blown to me. I woke up to find the first part of my day's work was scanned to my phone-- early! (I hate rushing around to get things done) I was done that job by 11 am and home in the bath by 11:15 am. Now I am at my second job with time to pack a tasty dinner and 2 of my drivers have stopped in and told me that I looked beautiful today. I am grateful for the day and the warmth it has brought.

So today what brought me joy was is entering the Biggest Loser contest at work and finding out that since I started my diet a week ago I had lost 10 lb. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing and hopefully lose even more and if I don't come in first place that's okay but if I do more power to me

I am so happy! About 8:30 tonight I was finally able to drag a pine tree down and out of the woods. It was hung up in other trees.

I examined it thoroughly before I put the chainsaw to it over a week ago. I knew it would get hung up in other trees. There was not any blank real estate around it at all.

I worked on it about a total of 7 hours this past weekend. Tonight I was on the bed, had a new idea about how to get it unstuck. It worked fabulously. It is now flat on the ground, stretched across the lawn in front of the house. It is longer than what I thought. I can cut it into 4 pieces, drag it down by the road with the others this weekend.

The weather has been kind of brutal with days and days of rain and then big time snow. At 0430 in the morning, it was pitch black. By 0630, I could make out the thick dark clouds from the sky. By 0730, I saw a very brilliant light in the sky peaking through the big beautiful clouds, the sun! It was great to see the sun. All my little and big cridders were glad to see the sun also. A very good day.

I made dinner for my aunt and her friend. I was just reflecting on how much I love to play hostess.

It's interesting because I used to view this act as anti-feminist - getting all dolled up, and spending hours chopping, dicing, mixing, sauteing. Then the refilling glasses and plates all night.

For whatever reason, I've gravitated toward the kitchen a lot more, lately. I think feeding others fulfills some primal need. That is, when you're cooking for people you like.

There's a livestock watering tank turned upside down beside the shed...I got so tickled watching tiny birds have so much fun taking a bath in the rain puddle on top that tank and on the roof ridges of the shed. They were so happy in the sunshine, I think they were announcing Spring!!
