I will mail you a doll that you will alter for the project.
Please use the doll that I send you (not your own doll), because the idea will be to see what we each do with a doll that is relatively the same.
You can do whatever you want with the doll! I will send some clothes, accessories, etc. but you don't have to use them or even every part of the doll itself. The idea is to do whatever suits your fancy! And don't send me back what you don't use, just send me back what you consider your finished product. Everyone who has thus far signed up for the doll project: Your doll is being mailed out this week. When you mail it back, if possible, please don't mail it such that we or anyone has to sign for it. We live in an apartment building without a doorman and it will be safe being left out for us. However, if we have to sign, it goes to the crazy NYC post office where it is more likely to get lost. My Barbie was waiting in my PO Box. As I walked back to the car, holding my first Barbie Doll, I ripped into the package. I was astounded at her beautiful hair, and of course, peeeeeked ~after lifting her pretty pink dress to see I had an amputee.


and she had some kind of nubby fake panties imbedded on her torso. As I walked, I wondered if everyone got a one -legged Barbie. I wondered how I could make a prosthetic for her, or maybe make a Roundabout wheelchair with racing stripes, or some neat crutches.

Arriving at the car, I dug into the package and found some little pink things like shoes, and ...oh,...I found her leg. :police:

She's sitting here all pretty and I hate to mess with her... :devil:

I recently completed another knitted potholder. My first few projects were misshapen, sad things with occasional holes because of missed stitches. (aka: "design features" LOL)... This last potholder actually is square! omg. *laughs* And only has a few of those special "design features" :) I'm enjoying creating something with my own hands again. I've picked up a few beginner books with simple patterns for scarfs and am looking forward to playing with some bulkier yarn and larger needles. Yay me!

My "barbie" is done!! This has to be the coolest altered art I have ever done. I have over 100 barbies with the intent of doing this.......so the project was very cool to be able to do!Hope who ever gets "it" loves it as much as I loved doing it!!

I have a mix of Bratz and Barbies that I collect, maybe about 30. Bratz are my all-time fave. I don't radically alter, more like make them more alternative or dress them different. I love playing with my dolls!

Well I like her just like she is. Gorgeous woman all purrty and perky, nice and quiet and right in front of me and ~~~~~~Wow she can do the split :mohawk: I played get in the mud dirty boy games and there was no barbie or GI Joe driving my my Tonka trucks, and in my fort.

I played with my dad's extra appliance parts forever! using them like legos and lincoln logs to build castles and things.....later on a family friend bought me a barbie suitcase that came with 6 of them and clothes and a dorm room....lets just say ken was the servant to them and they had sex with eachother....they were also a nudist colony....soon after my baby brother told me I wasn't doing it right and took them for his entertainment.....

What about those if it fits, it ships boxes. Those come in the regular mail. Do they make you sign for those? Will the small one fit in your mailbox, I guess is what I'm asking?

The only problem I have is the rare slip I got today where "the agent must be present" to sign for delivery. Ugh. I don't mind signing a slip and putting it back on the mailbox, though I prefer no slip at all. The size doesn't matter because they will leave it under my mailbox.

so i go into my room and there are ***** everywhere on the floor........the cat got my barbie and pretty much destroyed her!! I was able to fix it with a hot glue gun but that put me behind. She is now in a SEALED box going out on tuesday.

Just an update on the Barbie Project. I have everyone's except for three people, all of whom I've now heard from, either on this thread or PM. Everyone is still "in" and when I get the last three, I'll let everyone know :).

We've done tins before- wayyyyy back. You get your tins. You decorate them however you want or turn them into whatever you want. If you google "Altoid Tin" crafts/projects/art (etc.) you will drown in ideas! :)

I have not been in my store yet. The landlord hasnt done the repairs he said he was going to and even tho I have a key now, I cant move things in until he gets them done because they will spoil the clothes if they are there when the work is being done.

In saying that I havent gotten the measurements for the signage.I have appts with consigners this week so I best be able to get in to do that.

I am so frustrated.

Add to the mess that chrissy hit his head and had a concussion. I have been watching over him, while he fights me about medical care. I missed getting the showcases I needed to pick up because of it because the guy who had them was an ass. He wouldnt hold them and oh well. More will come.

So the measurements are 90" long and 50" high for where this sign goes. Do not try to match colors. Do as you will for whatever you sign up for. I know Claybaby wants to do the letter BEAU. So the rest are up for grabs. Who else would like to do this? I want the Scrapbook and crafting thread to organize it here if thats ok with everyone. So please join me there if you would like to do this project for the ladies of my store!

Sorry about this - - between pay cheque mix-ups and a monsterous car repair bill the poor little red-head doll had been bumped to the bottom of my to-do list!

Update on the Barbie project:

Gemme is having a Barbie Block (Look it up in the Urban Dictionary or Wikipedia and if there's not an entry, write one), so she is out of the project not for lack of trying (Mad Love to Gemme!)

Wryly is mailing me Barbie on Wednesday from Canada, soooo... that's the update :)

Yes but I cant cut 15 inches is the problem.. I will see what I can figure out.. I know I can cut them about 11 to 11 1/2 wide or tall.. but no larger either way..

Tommi's saying that there are 9 letters in BEAUTIFUL and they are to be no wider than 8". Add at least 2" in between and the space must be more than 7 feet and 4 inches. He's taking into consideration that the letters i and l probably won't be the full 8" across.

However, did I not see that some of the letters were on a background? Or are they all cut outs?

Ok, not to argue ... just as a scrapbooker I have to lay my project out completely to make sure it fits and this seems very close... just wanted to visualize the entire thing... also, the spacing below doesnt take into account Tommi's art deco unless it is going in the middle in which case its fine...

*Y*O*U**A*R*E**S*O* - 11 x 2 inch spaces (*) = 22 plus 8 letters x 8 " = 64 is a total of 86 inches - this leaves 4 extra inches to work with.

*B*e*a*u*t*i*f*u*l* - 10 x 2 inch spaces (*) = 20 plus 9 letters x 8 " = 72 is a total of 92 inches - so this could possibly end up being too large unless maybe you take a random couple of letters and make them just slightly smaller...

I also agree that the entire piece be it just the letter or artwork behind it needs to be 11 x 8 so it doesnt end up being too large..

Just my thoughts before coffee... wow.. amazing I even thought that out!

The tins are a bit delayed, I will send them as soon as I can drive again, perhaps a few more days. I was the target of a very old HUGE iron and brass bed headboard as it was on its way from upright to flat on the floor. It took out my left ankle and foot...........omg the pain! SO I am on a cane and MORPHINE!! OMG I mean the drug is kinda working, so anyway I need maybe till Friday to be comfortable to drive to the post office. Sorry peeps...........

Hello creative ones... On Saturday I spent the day at Peggie's clearing out the art studio and garage. I found 6 of my BIG oil paintings, left behind, when I moved out over 10 years ago.

Then, in a cabinet, sealed in clear plastic were 20 of my primed linen , naked 4' X 3' canvases.

Ah, it was like finding hidden treasure. Packed them in the truck for the 25 mile freeway ride. Thank God for the Dodge Ram. Came home, went to the garage, dusted off my easel, put it on the patio beside my telescope ....now, I must create~~something

I am so sorry for disappearing. I have been dealing with alot lately.

First, my daughter who is getting married next month has used this opportunity to become abusive to me...and I have had to lay down boundaries, including that I will not attend her wedding.

second, I have a cracked tooth and it became infected. Since medicare doesnt provide dental care, I had to scramble to get help. I did, but they cant pull it until July 9th. I did get antibiotics and that pain is now gone..for now

third, I had a window collapse on my face. Yes, literally. After a trip to Urgent Care and then ER, I have discovered I have no broken bones in my face but I had a hematoma above my eyebrow that was 3" x3", a bruised nose and a very sore collarbone. My glasses I just got were ruined...broken to bits! BVR was so wonderful that they repurchased new glasses for me!

fourth, my shoulder acted up again. I am now on steriods, a special anti inflammatory cream and extra strength vicodine. I have tendonitus and it mimicking a torn rotator cuff. Hurts like a bitch!

Fifth, couldnt open my store yet, as BVR was dragging its feet. I almost lost my site! However, site is saved and this actually worked out for the best because now I can move into the big store and have 4 times the floor space! I am SOO relieved because I was crammed into the little store!

I spent all day at the library doing research and all this week have been meeting with my business advisors too. We ARE opening in June but mid June!

Ups and downs...and all arounds. But back on track and ....how are the letters coming??? LOL

My guess is that we are to decorate all of them exactly as we want to and send them back to Rain who will disperse them (along with five dollars for her postage costs). For ideas it is likely that we should google "altered altoid tins" and various versions of that. Rain will have to give us a due date so that we don't slack off! Oh, and here is another question for Rain: are we allowed to specify who we want each of our tins to go to?

I am so sorry for disappearing. I have been dealing with alot lately.

First, my daughter who is getting married next month has used this opportunity to become abusive to me...and I have had to lay down boundaries, including that I will not attend her wedding.

I am soooo glad you are doing better!! Sounds like you have had a rough time! I am still finishing the letters.. The heat has been awful this past week.. We dont have air so I am glad it is finally cooling off.. I want to play with them this weekend!!

the new opening date is June 15th! So plenty of time to create! Thank you all, again, for helping me out! Starting a new adventure is never easy sailing but as long as its expected, its never a crisis, right? LOL. I am just SO loving this whole journey..even tho so much has happened around it, the process of opening the store has been nothing but positive!
