I'd really like to do a filled matchbox swap with this group. Where the matchboxes are decorated but also filled to the brim with goodies. We've done swaps where we decorated the inside, and even added items but the objective was never to fill the box. Buttons, stickers, shells, bits of ribbon, brads, cute paper clips--that kind of thing. You can use a lot of what you already have in your supplies. I find it's fun to do these in a color theme. I think in this case it should be sender's choice and also a cap on participants so it doesn't become too overwhelming.
What say you to matchbox treasure troves?

Yes, to a cap on # signees
Yes, to a color themed one, artist's choosing...
I would sign up (rather if someone signs me in when signups start...:)
Thanks for a really cool project idea, CCB.
Will we be doing the small ones? :)

I really enjoyed previous projects like this but I won't be joining this one. I've got too much going on and can't handle a project that would take brain cells to put together.
Have fun, y'all.

Who made me the vision board that has a bird on it and says "as gently as a feather" and also has the word "triumphant" on it and the phrase "special (not stressful)" ? I was appreciating it tonight and do not see a name on it (I'm sure I knew originally.).

Sitting this one out. J and my oldest are helping me out so I can pay off my credit card faster. Nice of them to do that then let me pay them back. Unlike the credit card company money owed to them doesn't wrack up interest. They wouldn't say anything but still, it's nice of them and I don't want to take advantage of their kindness. Geez I feel like I'm in a 12 Step program, only instead of in regards to something fun just this ass suck crap. Hi, my name is FSF I'm a chargeaholic and life has become unmanageable. Last month I spent money I didn't have on a 10lb bag of potatoes, a tube of toothpaste -generic, and bought myself 3 pair of granny panties. From Walmart. Clearly I am powerless over my addiction, my spending is out of control, and this wanton waste of money must stop! Shit people I so need a job.

So far we have three in and two out. Anyone else have interest or not to express?
I'm not opposed to doing this with a very small group of people if not a lot are interested. Unless people think if that's the case we should do something more group friendly....

Much as I hate to, I am going to sit this one out. I have some tests & possible surgery coming up in next few weeks....:(. I don't want to commit, then have to drop out & be timed out...:(.
Great project, but I just best sit this one out...thanks, CCB!

Ok, I'm going to cancel the project then, as the majority of people can't commit or need a break. Most of our core members are replying no. Which is fine, we can always do this at a later date when it works for people.

I would definitely consider doing this project at a later date...all dependent on when I have my surgery!
I definitely want YOU, CCB to wrangle it at that time as well.
While I am sad we aren't doing anything at this time, I am feeling like we are just needing a bit of a break from projects. The last few were intensive, and we did several back to back (not that I am complaining, for I truly enjoy them) it seems like everyone is just overwhelmed with life and life's challenges at this time. ....... all of us have a very full plate seems like. Anyway, all that to say...let's table for now & pick up at a later date.....this way we all have some "down time" and can be refreshed to do this cute project idea later...:)

FILLED MATCHBOX EXTRAVAGANZA
The premise: Create one (1) matchbox per partner. (The sign up will be limited to 8 participants total.) Choose a color scheme and decorate your matchboxes in the color scheme. Try to use around two main colors. Then, fill your matchboxes to the brim with tiny goodies that fit your color scheme. Some ideas are colored paper clips, other tiny clips, small rocks, beads, brads, buttons, single stickers, bits of ribbon, tiny origami, paper scraps, etc. Try to be creative. This project DOES potentially have a cost to it because of the filling of the matchboxes and the mailing costs, but as most of us have a craft stash if we're creative we should be able to come up with a lot of items. Also hit up Dollar stores, the $1 section at Michael's, Target, etc.
Dates: Sign ups between Monday July 1st and Monday July 8th. (One week.)
I'm thinking six weeks to complete the project, but I am open to feedback on this. Six weeks from July 8th puts us at a due date of Monday August 19th and a grace period late late date of August 26th. They MUST be in my paws by that time. Please include $10 for shipping.
It's really a simple project so I can't think of more explanation but please ask questions if you need clarification.

RULES AS AGREED UPON TO BE ADDED AT THE END OF EACH PROJECT:
"For 2019, the rule is if one of our projects is received by the wrangler more than seven days after the due date, or one of us drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until six months from the latest date that the project was supposed to be due. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. Wranglers must mail out projects within one week of the latest date that the projects were supposed to be due. In addition to waiting six months before being able to join a penpal project, the person who has not met the latest deadline must post directly on the penpal thread within a week of missing the latest deadline stating that they have not adhered to the deadline (reason is welcome to be included or does not have to be) and, most importantly, the date on which they will be able to return to participating in the penpal projects. They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018 & 2019. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2019. The reason for this is personal responsibility, so that we have a running record right on the thread that is easy to refer back to when needed. And for the purposes of clarification, if someone drops out before the deadline to sign up has been closed then they are not excluded from future projects because they are still following the rules.
Example: Bitsy misses the late date for a project. Within a week of that late date she must scroll down and find the most recent list of people who have missed the late date in 2018 and copy that list to a new post and add herself. Bitsy's post would look something like this:
'Sorry, I had the bird flu and missed the late date of 2/21/18. I can start participating in new projects on 8/21/18. I have added myself to the list below:
1. Tony (missed the late date of 1/28/19, able to participate 7/28/19)
2. Bitsy (missed the late date of 2/21/19, able to participate 8/21/19)'
This rule must be posted in its entirety at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."
Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that.

Making for the group! So definitely keep in mind you could be making a lot of boxes. If folks think we should pair up I'm willing to do that. But it's not so bad if you make them assembly line style

For me, I read the word "partner" as each participant, so hope that helps...:).
I would like to do for each person and not be partnered...not that anyone of you beautiful souls wouldn't be an incredible craft partner, it would just be awkward for me, meaning if we partner up, then there would be the going back and forth on whom is doing what (time consuming) OR if it is meant, we choose a partner, and make only for each other. That would mean I wouldn't get one from all the other individuals whom are so incredibly talented....just my own humble opine...:)......

Hey CCB...just wondering, since it looks like only 4 of us are participating, and we will be sending just 3 boxes, do you think postage will be a bit cheaper? As in a really small box will hold 3 matchboxes, I would think, and that is a couple bucks plus shipping would be less than $5? Just a thought?
When I mailed out the CD clocks I made for everyone, those were like $2.45 to mail, and it would hold 3 matchboxes. I got them at the P.O.

Matchboxes are due Monday. Nanners could you check in? I'm still working on mine but will come in under the wire.
We have a grace period until the 26th of August. My sister is being induced that day so it will be a VERY busy week for me but will get the matchboxes out before the week is up.

Matchboxes are officially due today. Nanners, I still haven't heard from you. You have a one week grace period at this point.
I myself am not finished but I should pull it together today or tomorrow.

Packages will go out Tuesday. I know it's a day outside of my week as Wrangler but it's been a roller coaster of a ride this past week and I hope you can forgive me. I'm not sure what that means for the rules, but if I have to sit out I will. They're ready to go out I just can't make it on Monday.

Post Office will not be open on Monday, as it is a holiday. Tuesday is good.
Take care. Thanks, CCB!

The next 2 weeks are crazy busy for me... so after we get our matchboxes from CCB, would anyone be interested in doing an inchie or twinchie project? Or does someone have another idea?

I'm always in for inchies or twinchies!
Also, I am just stating for the record I am NEVER using "kraft" matchboxes again. They are so flimsy. I prefer the real thing.

New Project
Project: Twinchies
Theme: Fall (which includes but is not limited to Halloween, Thanksgiving)
Sign up: September 5-11, 2019
Deadline: October 11, 2019 in my paws, grace period is from Oct. 12-18, 2019 after that they are on the floor as cat toys and shredded by my cats.
Requirements:
You must make one for each participant not including yourself.
Size must be 2” X 2”. No exceptions.
Please put who you want the twinchie to go to and your name on the back of each one.
Materials: Card Stock or other paper, markers, other things (please keep relatively FLAT). No glitter or scents.
Fee: $5 to be included with your projects for wrangler.
SIGN UP:
1) Nanners
2) clay
3)

Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that

I saved a food can label because I wanted to use a little graphic on it in my project. Well, someone _threw it away_ because they thought it was trash! Can you imagine?!
In other crafty news . . . has anyone here ever tried making toothpaste "dots"/tablets? They're supposed to be handy for traveling, especially through the airport where you're trying to get by with as few liquid products as possible. I'm going to research it online, but I was wondering if anyone has personal experience?

For those even remotely in the area, I went to the Scituate Art Festival today. It will continue through Monday afternoon. I've been up here for almost 7 years now and it was my first year attending and, for the first time in as many years, it did not and will not rain on any of those days. Coincidence? I think not! I had a blast and walked a TON. I got some fun goodies and some delicious art. It's been a near magical, albeit tiring, day.

I apologize for running over into the grace period, but I've had a lot on my plate for a while. However, my twinchies are DONE! and they will go in the mail on Tuesday. I'm pleased with how they turned out - I really hope you all will like them!

I'm in the same boat as Georgia except mine aren't completely finished yet but I've got loads of time today to work on them (I'm saying this to boost my motivation, which is hovering somewhere near 0.4 right now). Work (the not fun kind) got in the way but I have Tuesday through Thursday off so they will be in your greedy little hands, nanners, by the 18th come Hell or high water.

Even yours truly is not finished... life gets in the way. I had a car accident yesterday...I’m fine...sadly the car needs mechanical repairs and I spent the better part of yesterday getting a new tire installed.
I’m sure we’ll all be done in time!
Clay’s are in the mail. I’ll check in later today with a list of what I have received, en route, and still working on. Hoping to work on mine this evening.

Hello...
Let's start another!
So my idea was a Christmas movie theme project. Use a theme from the movie to make art work expressing your favorite character, costume, action, or whatever makes sense about your favorite movie.
Ideas:
Charlie Browns xmas tree
The Grinch's dog/reindeer
Frosty, snowman
National Lampoon's highly decorated house
http://www.newlanarkblog.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/6358477267328192162046498134_635844480625324067211 7775394_cover.png
I think you get the idea?
Time limit, finish after Thanksgiving, so I can get them back out, say the second week of dec. They will arrive before Xmas, about the time we will have seen some movies. Perfect timing!
Size, nothing bigger than an index card size? Not to exceed 4x6.
Think it over, I'll wait for responses, to see if this is acceptable.

Keep the size no bigger than 4x6 (inches)
We will have until Dec 5, 2019 to have them to me. The extra week, until Dec 12 is the absolute deadline. When you send your art work to me, please include $5.00 for shipping and handling.

How is everyone doing? I've had to regroup because I'm less skilled than I thought with machines but I'll still be able to sneak in under the wire before the 12th.
Is anyone else in my boat or am I rowing alone?
Mine will be in your hands by Friday!
Thanks for wrangling, Besame'!

Looking around.....
I suppose we all are in that row, row, row your boat! You better row faster..lol
I have glue drying right now. And it's not helping, or wait, she thinks she is, Jellybean, wants to dance on the glue 😲
Ok, so now we can admit we wait until the last minutes to complete our projects. Why do we give ourselves so much time? We could shorten project time to 3 weeks and STILL crunch...just saying🤐
Tracked mine..says will be delivered tomorrow by 800PM....:)

Hi, I was thinking of wrangling the usual post secret project? What do you all think?
I think that's a great idea. I always love post secrets.
Also, just as a reminder, and I'm not saying we have to - last January we did vision boards, and floated the idea that we should do them again this year. What do you all think?

Post Secret project
Oldies and responsible newbies welcome! No artistic talent needed - just have fun and put your all into it!
For examples http://www.postsecret.com (or postsecret on instagram / google etc)
Make 2 post secret postcards for each participant. Say, there is six participants. Then you would make 12 post secret postcards (could do six same, and then another six of a different design -- or all of your postcards can be different).
Fine to add your name or be anonymous. Secrets in the pen pal project must STAY in the pen pal project either way!
THEME: You can do any theme you want but the suggested theme is work. I chose this because I have been having a tough time over the past years with adjusting to jobs and such. Work includes anything related such as disability and retirement. Funny or serious.
Size of postcard (anything within reason).
# of participants unlimited (because - let's face it, our list is small these days):
1. nycfem / Jennifer
Time provided to be negotiated as a group after sign-up. We will make sure EVERYONE is comfortable with it and has adequate time. No deadline for sign up. Let's just see how the kernels pop. $ for wrangler shipping / packaging costs: 7 dollars.

Hey, everyone,
I'm going to give until midnight to close sign-ups today but I also wanted to let you know I am changing the requirement for how many postcards you make to 1 for each participant instead of 2. Of course you are more than welcome to make as many as you want for each participant (as long as you make at least one) but I really had only made the requirement as 2 to compensate for being a small number of people participating. Now that it is a larger group (very exciting!), I am amending the requirement from 2 postcards per person to 1 per person, with the understanding that you are welcome to make more than 1 for each person but are certainly not required to. So excited that we have such a great group!

Hi, folks, please read, as I finalized all the information (thanks).
Post Secret project SIGN UP CLOSED
Project due date: end of Feb! If I don't receive the cards by the first week of March, we take a hard line, and you will not be in this project. The only reason we do that is because without doing that, things were dragging out for months and months.
For examples http://www.postsecret.com (or postsecret on instagram / google etc)
Make at least 1 post secret postcard for each participant. This means you will be making a minimum of 7 postcards but of course make as many as you want! You can make all 7 the same or do variations or make each one different. Whatever makes you happy.
Fine to add your name or be anonymous. Secrets in the pen pal project must STAY in the pen pal project either way! If you want me to choose who your postcards go to, I'm always delighted. If you prefer to choose who each of your postcards go to, then make sure to label them with the person's screen name on the opposite side of the card as your secret (and if you decide to pick who each of your postcards go to please write "To" so that I don't get mixed up and think you are the one who made the postcard. If you want someone to know you made the postcard then write "From" or leave them anonymous- up to you).
ALL postcards will be mailed to me in a single package by you, and I will compile them in a packet for each of you and send them to you. When you send me your packet of postcards, please make sure you include your return address on the package. If you don't have my address and need it, just text or PM me. For my name on the front of your package please use "Jenny S."
THEME: You can do any theme you want (including a theme that is not one of my suggested themes) but the suggested theme is work. I chose this because I have been having a tough time over the past years with adjusting to jobs and such. Work includes anything related such as disability and retirement. Funny or serious. An alternative theme, if the work one doesn't appeal to you, is: anything related to the New Year.
Size of postcard (anything within reason). Please no unsealed glitter or scents.

Piece of advice to newbies: End of Feb sounds like a lot of time but many of us Oldies have had the experience of waiting too long and then barely finishing or not finishing, so it is much better to pretend the due date is a week earlier- at least! It will be much less stressful for you in the end that way!
Thanks for reading this! (f)

An alternative theme, if the work one doesn't appeal to you, is: anything related to the New Year.

Piece of advice to newbies: End of Feb sounds like a lot of time but many of us Oldies have had the experience of waiting too long and then barely finishing or not finishing, so it is much better to pretend the due date is a week earlier- at least! Look at all these cool peeps. I am really so sad to have missed this.....post secrets is my most fave project of all!!!
I was in critical condition in 3 hospitals for 50 days (12/05 to 01/24.......most here wasn't aware. Anyway, I was coded 12/14 then flatlined in ICU 12/17....so I was VERY sick, having major open abd surgery 12/20. I am getting better each week, slowly.
Thanks to the ones here who did know & kept me in thoughts & prayers & sent messages. I heart you all.
This is such an exciting group & project......:) Have fun!

Hi, I'm going to amend the ABSOLUTE FINAL deadline to March 15th. This means anything after march 15th will not be sent out. I advise planning to get yours to me at least a week early. Then you don't have to go through the anxiety of not knowing if it will arrive on time. Trust me- I've been through this before myself :vigil:
If you don't mind, please put a thanks, so that I know you've seen this :bunchflowers:

Hi Crafty Peeps,
I know now is probably not a good time to be mailing germ-infested packages hither and yon, but I thought maybe we could post what crafty things we are doing while we are sheltering in place. I know you folks can't resist doing something crafty when you have a little extra time on your hands!
I have been mostly coloring with color pencils. I'm trying to get better at adding light sources. I've also done some poster-type things with magic markers, just for fun. I've done a little bit of Zentangle too.
Some of my creativity is going into cooking. It's been a long time since I had to cook almost every night. I've been pulling out the old cookbooks and going through them.
So what are you all working on?

Hello Georgia, what a great idea to share about what craft projects we might be working on. :balloon:
My mom sent a couple of links to me on how to make soft cotton face masks, similar to the disposable ones you might see offered in a doctor's office/clinic. So that is what I am working on. I'm going to make 28 of them (four weeks worth).
Just today, she also gave me another idea to go with making the soft cotton face masks. You can use filter material for the filtering material that you would put inside the pocket area of the face mask.
Filter suggestions:
A) Active Carbon Filter Sheets (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YMLNR46/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_j.AFEb5AVNAFE)
B) Hepa Vacuum bag filters (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HYIUL6S/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_gbBFEbWFH73RJ)(any brand of filters that filters dust and allergens should be okay)
Also, if you don't have any elastic on hand, you can make your own ties out the same material or use shoe strings, fresh from a package of shoe strings you might buy for tennis shoes. Also, if you don't have wire on hand, but you have pipe cleaners? You can insert a pipe cleaner into the area of the face mask to help bend it over your nose, which helps the mask to stay secure on your face.
I don't have a sewing machine at home (my mom has mine), so I am stitching them by hand, with small basting stitches and also use a reverse baste stitch, right over the original stitch, so the stitching is secure and will withstand laundering and frequent use.
Here's the two links my mom sent to me:
(1) Face Mask from Craft Passion dot Com (https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/)
(2) DIY face mask with Filter Pocket (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fot_2JY99ME)
My mom ordered several yards of material for me from JoAnn's Fabrics in cute patterns (flamingos, watermelons, etc), just like some of the material that her nursing uniforms are made of (soft, cotton blend fabric).

Well it's not really a craft project per say, but I lined all my kitchen shelves. I don't know why I do this, but every time I line shelves, I use red patterns. Never have I decorated my kitchen in red though. No reason??
Anyways...after xmas I found a giant roll of red check wrapping paper. The really good thick kind with cutting lines on the back. Those lines and the check on the front made it super easy. I'm not to thrilled with the edges of the shelves,
so I used a solid red wasabi tape on the edges. Sooooo that is what I have been working on. Looks really good I might add..lol
Tomorrow, I'm going to make a few face masks. It is time for all essential employees to cover up! I don't know how much elastic I have. I did see a homemade mask today using those covered ponytail holders. I might find those easier than elastic these days??!!

You can use rubber bands too, although covered bands or an elastic loop might be more comfortable.
9YLXEhSjVsw
This is the most simple video I've found and very adaptable to anyone's situation. The one thing I would change is sliding in a cut piece of filter, be it batting or an actual piece cut from a HEPA vacuum filter, but that's also super easy to do and requires no sewing. These masks are washable so you can change up the materials and patterns to bring a teensy bit of joy to a generally joyless situation.
On a related note, I saw a gentleman at Walmart that gets points for creativity. He used one of his wife's cloth headbands. It had scrunched elastic at the back and was wide enough at the crown that it covered his nose and mouth. Inspired, I went to the hair care aisle and found one that works for me and is a dark gray snake skin pattern.
Job Lot is also giving away free large cotton napkins so people can make their own masks.
For work, I've ordered black masks that are going to make me look like the winter solider when I wear them.
I found one here (https://www.amazon.com/Mouth-Mexican-Skulls-Reusable-Covers/dp/B086JNXLZY/ref=sr_1_49?dchild=1&keywords=cloth+face+masks&qid=1586104958&sr=8-49) but I feel drawn to the one of the giraffe riding the shark. Not sure what that's saying but I'm listening.

How's everybody doing lately? Happy Saturday to all of you. :rrose:
I thought I would share about a personal arts & crafts project that I am going to work on over the next few months.
Pebble Craft Project (LINK (https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=pebble+craft+project&FORM=HDRSC2))
I sometimes come across uniquely sized and colorful rocks and pebbles and I began to start a collection of them, so I can make something crafty. Not only for myself, but for little craft presents I can share with family and friends, here at home (birthday prezzies, thoughtful "Thank You" prezzies, etc).
I actually want to make a frameable picture to place in a particular location in my studio apartment and I want to make my own welcome mat art, for inside my front door, by using pebbles too. That project depends on finding the right type of wood, maybe repurposed wood or maybe I will find some nice wood to use when I walk along the river front, on one of the many exercise ventures I go out on.

Now what? Masks are made. All boxes unpacked. Pictures hung. Shelf papered every shelf! Tick tock.Tick tock. I need a project!!
So.....
I placed a curbside order at JoAnn's. I selected some silk geraniums, lilacs and peonies. I have a basket on the floor for geraniums and a heart shaped twig wall hanging. The heart needs a new coat of white paint. The lilacs and peonies are going there. Alas, JoAnn's is doing a busy business curbside..so I'm still waiting to start those projects. The ribbon for the heart already arrived from Etsy.
And then....
I ordered stretcher bars from Amazon. I have this sea glass color quilt wall hanging. I'm going to put it on the stretcher bars. That will be turned in to a hanging headboard. I made it a few years ago, even stitched some wave scrolls around the edges. I had no idea what I was going to do with it. My Mom once said, hang onto it. You will find the perfect place for it one day. I'm awaiting the Amazon delivery for that project.
Tick tock. Tick tock. I'm waiting.
I get another idea!!😃😃
Today I curbside ordered stuff to make homemade soap. Score! I have that stuff now!!
Lavender soap awaits. Raise your hand if you want soap!! Lol

Can ya all stand another post about how to make a great mask?
I hope so. :)
So, my mom (The 80 year old RN) showed me the mask that she recently was gifted. It was made from a bra. So, today, I have an strapless bra I have not worn in years and it's in good condition. Guess what I did? ;)
No bra burning here. I put my strapless, underwire bra to good use. It only took ten minutes to make two excellent masks.
And for those of you who know me really well, lol, it's gotta have bling too.
Directions on how to make the Strapless Bra Mask:
1) cut the two bra cups free, by cutting along the sides of each cup.
2) carefully take the elastic ear pieces from a used mask that you can no longer wear and set them free from the paper mask they sit on.
3) stitch the elastic ear pieces along the outside of the cup.
4) the underwire part of the bra cup goes under your chin. The top of the cup gives excellent coverage over your nose and mouth.
5) I don't think one needs to use a filter if your bra cups have padding in them already, which mine did.
6) Doll up your bra cup mask with all kinds of bling. I used sparkly gems from my craft box. So I have rainbow gems that travel across the entire bra cup. :eyebat:
Cheers + germ free air smoochies to all you crafters,
:kissy:

How's everybody holding up, lately?
I always like to have some sort of crafting project to work on and I've been working on Pointillism craft projects. I recently drew up some artful renditions of certain things I find beautiful in nature. Like, for example, I drew a sunflower using the pointillism technique. It's not exactly like the picture I found below, but the picture gives you a good idea of how a pointillism rendition of art can look as a finished project.
https://mir-s3-cdn-cf.behance.net/project_modules/max_1200/174e6618802803.562cf90084d3b.jpg
I bought a few packages of cream colored cards with matching envelopes (the wedding invitation type of stationery), a couple of years ago, and I only use these blank cards and envelopes for special occasion types of art work.
I'm actually going to attempt to draw a creative rendition of the name my dear friend is going to name her new baby girl. The little girls' name will have 3 M's (first, middle and last name all begin with M). But I have to do the background art first, then carefully emboss the baby's full name under the backdrop of the art work I intend to use. I plan to make it as gender neutral as possible, so it will be Keep-Sake quality for the newborn's baby book. I'm going to crochet some tiny baby booties too and make a tiny baby cap, the knitted kind, and put some pretty bows and ribbons on both the booties and baby cap.
Hopefully I can find a light weight receiving blanket, that matches the booties and baby cap, since she is expected to deliver tiny Madilyn by the end of June.
Wishing everyone a wonderful summer ahead,
~K. :bunchflowers:

I wish I could post my own private pictures to this site. I'd show you all my little stool. I reupholstered it. It came out to darn cute! Some have seen a pic already.
I've ordered some pillow inserts. I happen to have two extra quilt blocks from my king quilt I made, many years ago. I'm going to use those blocks for pillows on my bed.
And since I think masks are going to be the trend right now, I'm going to be a little more creative on my next batch. I've made up 3 different styles. Made mostly of left over fabrics from other quilts. My mind is a wandering with a bit more of a fashion statement. Perhaps some stitching??
For the most part I'm giving my hand and thumb a rest. I am ready for our next project though!!! Zentangle??? I'm up for some doodling.

A Zentangle project could be fun if it's not too big. I can only work on fun stuff one day a week now so it would have to be reasonable for me to join.

I was thinking maybe 3x3, or 3-1/8 x 3-1/8, whatever the regular "official" Zentangle size is. Or maybe twinchies.

I was thinking maybe 3x3, or 3-1/8 x 3-1/8, whatever the regular "official" Zentangle size is. Or maybe twinchies.
Hey, did you want to get this started soon? I'd be up for it if you did.

I would be in as well. BUT I do not think my eyes can handle twinchies....:(.

Hey, did you want to get this started soon? I'd be up for it if you did.
I'd like to get another project underway, too. So, when I mentioned Zentangle Art, I was referring to the kind of Zentangle where you draw a representative image and then "Zentangle" it. See here for examples:
https://www.pinterest.com/dhrushitraval/zentangle-art/
I think color would also be especially fun to use in this project, so color or black-and-white would be acceptable. Also, I don't want to give more of a theme, because some people feel pretty limited in what images they can draw (meaning, me!).
I would also like to stick to the original official Zentangle tile size, which is 3.5" x 3.5" (because anything bigger is too much work!) or smaller like twinchies 2" x 2" (because I have lots of twinchie tiles left over from another project).
I would give us a week to sign up, 5 weeks to finish the project, and the final-final deadline of a week after that.
Does anyone have any suggestions about the above? I can open signups this week if people are interested.

I like the option of each participant being able to choose between 3.5" x 3.5" and twinchie size. I would definitely sign up.

Just a thought: A totally optional theme might be nice because some people are more comfortable with not coming up with their own. In other words, individual participants might enjoy having the option to pick between a given theme or doing whatever they want.

Sounds good. I'm down.
I see advantages for either size and I know it's fun to use up stuff you already have but I'm going to throw my hat in the ring for the traditional size of 3.5 x 3.5 if we're doing one or the other. I feel it gives the rest of you more of a chance to actually be able to figure out what the Hell I might be trying to draw. However, you could always Zentangle some twinchie pieces and then piece them together into a larger size if you'd like. Just a random thought for you to ruminate on.

I'm double down on this. I like options!

!!!Zentangle Art!!!
For this kind of Zentangle Art, this will be the kind of Zentangle where you draw a representative image and then "Zentangle" it. See here for examples:
https://www.pinterest.com/dhrushitraval/zentangle-art/
THEME: flora and fauna - totally optional, draw something else if you like!
Color or black and white images are acceptable. Go crazy and have fun!
SIZE: the standard "official" Zentangle tile size of 3.5" x 3.5", OR twinchies 2" x 2", OR four twinchies that fit together to make one tile (4" x 4") - your choice!
Make one piece for each person who signs up (or four pieces if you want to make four twinchies that fit together as one tile for a project). When you send your pieces to me, please include $7 for shipping. Remember to put the name of the person it goes to on it, and also your name. If you don't put a name, I will distribute them randomly.
DEADLINE: The deadline to have these to me (Georgia Ma'am) is Monday, September 14. The final-final deadline is Monday, September 21.
SIGN UPS start NOW! and the deadline to sign up is Sunday, August 9 at 7 p.m. EDST.

Yes! Me Too! Let's play with art!
But in fairness, I noticed when I copied the "Fine Print" that the rule only extends through 2019 as written. Do we want to keep it as is and only update the years? Or do we need to change it?
Also, on a related topic, I think that nycfem should totally get a pass on the wrangler one-week rule for the post secrets project, because duh! COVID.
I have copied the Fine Print below in a regular size, for those of us with aging eyes:

I also agree that with nycfem there were extreme extenuating circumstances with the Post Secret project. I think during times of global pandemics we can give a pass.
