BUMP :)

Looks like a number of us are showin' interest (Gemme, Pixie, Purepisces, Tommi, me, obviously Cara). Who else?

Diva professed interest and she said she'd wrangle if no one else offered to do so.

Diva professed interest and she said she'd wrangle if no one else offered to do so.

Whoops! Didn't mean to leave anyone out or create confusion. After Diva's fab offer if no one else offered, Cara posted with a project so I thought that meant she was doing it since a number of folks seemed interest from the "thank you"s under her post. Then I reposted it with the people who showed interest in her project idea being the ones who clicked the "thank you" under her post (hoping to generate more sign-ups). Just clarifying so that no one thinks I was leaving them out for any other reason than I was being an overeager beaver and maybe on a trail of thoughts in my head that wasn't clear

In more pleasant ramblings.....who's wrangling the next creation?

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

If no one's claimed it, I will.....

BUMP :)

I can't imagine that anyone would be offended, in fact, you seem to be such a sweet and considerate person, it's difficult to imagine you being offensive. I think that both Diva & Cara offerded to wrangle the next round. I'm happy with either one (looks like Diva is up first) ... and I'm ready to get started!

I am so sorry that I missed the bash stuff. I had made the basket (it came out good!), but was unable to get it out in time cause i was in hospital. Some folks know, some don't that I have cancer. The fucking "c" word. Well now the Dr found bladder cancer, just when I was thinking I was gonna be ok. So here we go again. I am on morphine and have become an expert on throwing up lol.......On the 14th of Oct, surgery awaits me. Getting a bladder stint and a catheter bag......oh joy of joys! I miss being active here, I really need something to be involved in besides Dr's, drugs, and all that crap.can I come back??...........:missing:

I'm so sorry that you've been ill. Cancer is a hateful beast. I will most definitely keep you in my thoughts. :rrose:

You always do lovely work and your basket was sorely missed. I just know that whoever was lucky enough to win it would love it, whenever you do feel well enough to send it out.

We're still in the middle of a round but, once you've gone through your surgery and are healing and feeling much better, I'm sure your work would be appreciated. :)

Rain, I am glad to see you visit, even if you can't play. Hoping you have better and better days. Will be thinking of you. I'd make you some :tea: to sip and relax and let the sun shine upon your face.
I miss you when you don't pop in here. As you saw above jennifer won the PenPal prize, and was thrilled. pixie and I arranged it on the raffle table, and it was fun. I knew your basket was around the planet somewhere.

Yes, staying active here is really advisable. My Gramma used to say idle hands are the devil's work. I was her lil devil, and she gave me stuff to do allll the time.

About the nasty big C. Make it a little c. I am writing a book about having the little c. I have been a cancer activist for over 25 years, a six year endometrial ca survivor, and a Mentor at Long Beach Cancer Center. I see the importance of staying connected and playing. So, come out , come out , wherever you are, whenever you can, and if you need to yell out in the middle of the night someone is usually here.

Ok......I'm here on a loaner computer because the guy who's fixing my laptop felt so sorry for me.....my eyes were glazed over in withdrawals.....and I kept muttering, "Control, alt, delete....control, alt, delete.....". :|

ANYway.....

Just wanted to let everyone know that Your Happies went out in this afternoon's mail and should arrive to You shortly! I think You will all be SO pleased.......these were so neat! Thanks for letting me wrangle! And thanks, Gemmie, for the good topic!

Gemme= craft recruiter extraordinaire!

:cheer:

Organic is right; everyone's work is lovely! I took full advantage of being a few minutes down the road from our lovely Miss Diva today and picked my goodies up.

Tommi, how cute and orginal was YOURS??? Both Organic and I got a big kick out of your piece. Great job.

I am always in awe of Diva and ami's work and I was not let down. Beautiful and elegant!

Jennifer, I am SO glad I met you in LR, because now I not only enjoy your work but now I can see YOU in it so much better. :cheesy:

diamond, you did a lovely piece. I'm glad you joined this round and look forward to more of your work.

Cara, you surprised me a little bit (in a nifty way!) with your piece but I loved it. Did you do different pieces? I got the Halloween one.

pure, I loved your list! I liked the zen quality to your piece.

Pixie, I knew yours was yours before I even looked for a name. *grin* If it's got black electrical tape, it's from Miss Pixie. :cheesy:

I can't brag enough about all of the work done. Maybe it's because it's been a little longer than usual, but I think I was Jonesin' for this.

High fives and big hugs all around!

To me, it makes sense to let him use mine and see if this is going to be something he's going to want to participate on a regular basis before going all out at the store. Besides, he hates shopping of any kind.

In Organic's world, that's too much shopping right there.

No worries, not all of my stuff is girly girl. I've got tons of brads and papers, including a whole masculine package from back in the day. It even has hunting stuff on it, I think.

Ask Diva. I think I had 4 boxes of scrapbooking items shipped to her when I moved and then I brought some down with me in the car too.

Okay, ya'll! I think Miss Katsarecool might join us for our next round! So, we'll have TWO newbies. That makes me super duper happy.

I know not everyone has received their packages yet but they HAVE been sent out, so would I be too pushy pushy to ask for a reminder as to who wanted to wrangle next? I keep thinking that Cara said something about wrangling, but I'm too lazy to go back and look. Does that sound right?

Cara, is that correct? And, if not, is there anyone chomping at the bit? If not, I'd love to wrangle another one. If not this coming one, then the next. *shrug*

Can you all tell I have my crafty stuff out and want to use it now, now, NOW? :|

I just got my Happy package (the nice post person left it sitting on the little ledge above the mailboxes!)!!! It was the perfect 'pick me up' since I've been having a rough day. On top of work and choir stress, all this bullying stuff is really affecting me. Instead of sad tears, I have happy ones now! :stillheart:

Hey everyone!

I'm back from rehearsal and, as promised, here's the new project!!! :D

Simple Postcard Swap

In this project, we will be sending postcards about or from the cities in which we live. An acceptable alternative can be a city or cities which we have visited or want to visit. The postcards can be handmade or store bought, and should be a standard size (4x6...no larger than 5x7, please). In the blank space on the back of each card, please write a story, poem, or letter about the place pictured on the front of the card. Be creative! It's okay to "doctor up" store bought cards using any type of material that can (legally) be sent through the mail. You will need to send one postcard for every participant in the project. Remember to sign your name somewhere on the postcard so we know who it's from. :) Please do not worry about including money for postage this round. This is because I am horrible about remembering to include my check and no doubt owe some of you! :|

I'm capping this project at 15 participants. The sign up deadline will be 11:59 p.m. Sunday, October 24th. Projects should be postmarked and sent to me no later than Monday, November 22nd. Please sign up by adding your name to the list below. After adding your name, please PM your mailing address to me even if you think I already have it. I will PM my mailing address back to you as soon as I'm able. :)

Ami has to wait till the pictures arrive. I have a very good idea (honestly I just typed "I dear") of what I am doing.

currently I only have Corkey's sweater and a mini book I am working on, plus this now. That is pretty good for me!

Cara's directions:

Easy? Easy! This is the first project I've wrangled so questions, comments, and concerns are always welcomed. Thanks! :stillheart:

Welcome welcome welcome aboard the fun bus.:hangloose:
The WHOLE thread. I can give you a quick picture.
Anyone can come up with and idea to do something fun.

Someone volunteers to be the Wrangler. They pick the topic, the dates to close the list, and the postmark deadline date, and the maximum number of signees to close the list at, and the postage to enclose so they may return the bulk mail. (It closes when either the list is full, or the date is met.)(Some people beg pretty please, and are of course added :)

All items, plus a mailing expenses are sent to the Wrangler, who will then have all signees adddress. Wrangler then mails out one of each from the collection they have received, to the list of signeees.

The thread does show some of the fun , creative stuff that has been wrangled.

It sounds very interesting! I'll think on it for a day or so. I see that one of the museum stops is in Austin, so that would be awesome to be able to see all of our work! I think I might miss not getting anything back though.

Ahhh. I just watched the video on it and it's very cool but I don't have the money to participate right now. So, not for me. I might still see the exhibit when it comes to Austin, though.

I think I will ... I'm just trying to decide on the theme. I'm torn between "lines and grids" "figuring you out" and "below the surface" ... oh, who am I kidding, I have ideas for all of them except "jackets, blankets & sheets" and I have no idea what that's about!

I am a referential artist. That means that my inspiration often comes from the work that others have done. I don't plagiarize, as I give credit where credit is due, but I do get ideas from their work. I think the term scraplifting is kinda cute, but I can't imagine you being guilty of it.

In other news, everyone please think good, positive thoughts for me tomorrow afternoon. I have a job interview and it's been almost 3 months of unemployment, so I am very excited and hopeful about this interview.

I like looking at other people's ideas, but mostly when I'm being crafty, I like to 1) play with what I have (and I :stillheart: the challenge of using recycled materials), and 2) creating 8, 10, 15 or however many of similar but different projects. I'm the same way when creating cards. It drives my mom crazy because she likes me to make 2 of everything so she can reference them. I usually can't stand to make the same thing more than once! lol.

Projects should be postmarked and sent to me no later than Monday, November 22nd. (That's only 18 days away, folks!) If you have not already done so, please PM your mailing address to me even if you think I already have it. I will PM my mailing address back to you. (Only a handful of the 14 have done this yet...)
Here are the project "rules" again:

Simple Postcard Swap

In this project, we will be sending postcards about or from the cities in which we live. An acceptable alternative can be a city or cities which we have visited or want to visit. The postcards can be handmade or store bought, and should be a standard size (4x6...no larger than 5x7, please). In the blank space on the back of each card, please write a story, poem, or letter about the place pictured on the front of the card. Be creative! It's okay to "doctor up" store bought cards using any type of material that can be sent through the mail. You will need to send one postcard for every participant in the project. Remember to sign your name somewhere on the postcard so we know who it's from. Please do not worry about including money for postage this round. This is because I am horrible about remembering to include my check and no doubt owe some of you!

:stillheart:

I'll be working on it this weekend cara. I have your addy***:artist:

You KNOW I'm not gonna be able to do much of anything on mine until after the Pre~Thanksgiving Gathering (13th)......so mine will be comin' in under the wire.

In other words......like normal. <eyebat:

I TOLD you that you could use the stains to your benefit. There are some that could actually turn out kinda nice, like Henna tattooing.

I haz vision! :cheesy:

In other news, Organic has been judging my potential interview clothes. He's said things such as "it shows too much skin" for a scoop neck sweater and "that's nice; I like that" to pants that were clearly too form fitting. Methinks he's looking at my like a boyfriend. While that doesn't help with the choosing of the clothes, it kinda makes me schmoopy. :stillheart:

But not bigger than 5x7, right? That was our size restriction.

Are they going to be 100% copies or will you change a bit up here and there?

Are they shiny?

Are they happy?

Lol Gemme!!!! I thought they were to be 4x6. Am I wrong? Let me know now before I get started. :) They will be 100 percent copies (or prints in the art world LOL). No not shiny. Hmm I have to think about that happy question. Will ya'll like them? I hope so. Cara's will be 8x11 original artwork. (f)

Gah! My mailbox is tall and narrow. Maybe 3"x3" wide and 9" tall. Diva, I did say standard postcard size (4x6) but no bigger than 5x7. I think 5x7 is even too big for my mailbox, but the post person has been really nice to set packages on the ledge above the mailboxes in the hallway, so larger may be okay.

I might take a peak at your book before deciding for certain. I love the premise of it, I just don't know if I want to give $25 for the book and then let it go (even if I do let them know I want it back, I'm askeered it might not make it back to me in the same condition I sent it out to them, but I'm all Controlling McControlster about that kind of thing).

I know that Jennifer, pure and you are going to do AMAZING work, no matter what!

Found in the Rules Section of the Sketchbook 2011 Project:

Your book

Don't forget that your sketchbook is touring the country with us - we don't want to be stuck in a car with your book if it's covered in hazardous materials or messy art supplies! Please try to avoid the use of ties, random plastic things, art materials that could smudge, glitter, and any hazardous materials.

I think I'm going to pass on this for now as someone was kind enough to let me know that you don't get your work back and now I find out I couldn't use glitter. I like glitter. *pout*

If this is the case....then....I'M FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was SO inspired to get these done before next weekend's craziness, that I cleaned off my desk and went AT it! OMG! I didn't care that the cats were climbing all over the shelves and playing with the Mardi Gras beads! Thank you Cara!! So I only have to make 12, the original is yours and I won't keep one. I love even numbers!!!! LOL Tomorrow scanning, printing on card stock, cutting and placing everything in a large envelope and Monday or Tuesday off to the post office I go! Yeah!!!!

I am so excited about a volunteer opportunity that just opened up in my town for a greeter at the art musem on Saturdays. Three days before Christmas from 11am to 2 pm. I get to dress up professionally, wear make up, put my hair in a French twist, dab some light perfume and mingle with other artists and art lovers! I do not get out that much to talk and meet with other people since I went out on disability in 2005; except for family and the people who work at the bank, pharmacy and a favorite restaurant or two. Isolation is not a healthy state of being......

Hey, all,
I thought I'd share a sweet pen pal related gesture an old friend of mine from college did! She was going through old letters and posted a group of mine to her on Flicker! It was so fun for me to see because I don't even remember back to sending most of them! I also think it is an interesting commentary on how easy it was before Anthrax and mail bombs and 911 to send silly mail! All that you see was sent without an envelope! Oh, well, hopefully this link works. Her name is Melaina, and well... I'm Jenny/Jennifer.
