i got my lil boxes as well and LOVED them all!!
I wanna know who sent the white box with the Believe in the center box.. and the lil teeny one..
Everyone was so creative.. YAYAYAY
i enjoyed them all and loved showing them off to my family.
The "believe" box was from me!
I, too, have so enjoyed all my little boxes! This WAS such a fun project!! I would love to do it again.....perhaps a "Christmas" themed one OR a Valentine's themed one...hint hint Mr. T. Wrangler....:):). You did a fantastic job of wrangling this project!!! ^5 my friend!!
Thank you to everyone who did such fantatsic jobs with these lil boxes!!!

I'll be the wrangler for tiny boxes-- themed. Please and thank you.
I was actually gonna put something together and see what folks thought. But was waiting after the few projects currently going on died down.
I have a question-- how long does mail take to get to NYC from NM? I'm still working on my cards-- so I need to know if I need to mass produce them or still work on 1 a day for the next few days. :fastdraq:

A good rule of thumb is 3 business days. I wouldn't cut it any closer than that, especially since J means business with the deadline.

Jenn,
I just popped out at lunch to mail off my packet. It should arrive by Friday.
I am curious.....I told the postal clerk I needed to send it in such a way that it was left at your building and that you didn't have to go retrieve it at the post office. She informed me it was up to the individual carrier. I sent mine in a large padded envelope but it is bulky. I also wrote "Please leave, do not take to post office for pick up." It is not insured and no signature is needed. If things don't fit in your mailbox what do they normally do with them?
Sorry for the ignorance but I live in a place where large mailboxes are the rule and if I need to go to the post office I can usually park 3 spots from the door and am almost always the second in line......the habits of these big fancy city workings are mind boggling......:seeingstars:
Katniss~~
p.s. The $5 is inside your card so open carefully.

Thank you so much to those who sent me boxes! The package got here, a little banged up, but not too badly. Love them! Sadly, some of the tags fell off so I dont know who all sent me one, so if you would pm me and let me know what your box looked like, I can re-tag them all. They will have a place of honor, for sure and certain!

Oh YAY!! Thank You so much!
I just got home and my package of Halloween cards was returned to me for insufficient postage. Which is crazy because the self service machine weighed and created the label for me! So, now I should send these out individually, I think. Would those of you participating in the Halloween card swap mind sending me your addresses?
Thanks!

I mailed out all packages so they should arrive on Thursday, latest Friday (actual Halloween!).
Everyone did a wonderful job! You will love everything. Why is candy so fun? :)

Hi everyone. I wanted to apologize for the last couple of activities I did not do my part in. The biggest problem I have been running into is the due dates. We get paid on the 15th of every month, so I usually have to wait til then to buy whatever material is needed for the projects, then send them off. When the due dates for things are before then, I try my best to make due, however, it is almost impossible.
If there was a way for the due dates to be after the 15th of the month, I will be more than happy to participate in any and possibly all activities. I love them!
Anyways, again, I apologize for the past and looking forward to the future.

New rule for penpal thread that applies to all group projects:
I think we've experienced a slow down on this thread because folks are reluctant to sign up for projects when we are having some people repeatedly not come through with what they signed up for.
For 2015, the rule is if one of us is more than a week late or drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a project again until 2016. No exceptions. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project.
This is not a punishment but is a way to try and make the group projects something members can trust that we are getting what we signed up for.
This is a new beginning, so we are all starting at the same place :).

I like the idea of not tossing out a sign up deadline right away too. Announce the project and give all of us at least a week or two to mull it over and see if we can get the materials together and can put the time aside that the project will entail. THEN do the sign up.
I wouldn't mind each project taking a bit more time if there'd be less drop outs and more mindfulness.
But I'd have to say the MOST frustrating thing, as a person who's crafted in all aspects....wrangler, participant, early, late, etc....are those who are late.
If memory serves me, there is still an outstanding project out there for one of our members.
Tardiness affects all of us, especially those like Sis, who sometimes have strict deadlines to adhere to. It's also disrespectful.
For 2015, for myself and all participants, I'd like to not have any of that. Going forward, whatever the deadline is, that is the last date that your project can be postmarked in order to participate in that project.
Finis.

Well, I'm going to call a spade a spade here. I, and most people who participate in this thread know it is me who didn't complete the puzzle project.
I will happily still complete it, and nycfem will get it.
I will not participate in 2015 until that is done, and only if I know I can fully participate in a timely manner.
I apologize to all of you, especially nycfem.

Tommi, while I am excited to get a new project underway I put my name on a list that I have no idea what the deadline or parameters are or even if I will be able to participate. We need the guidelines to see if we can complete it given the new rule for projects.
Have you worked that out yet?
nycfem said this:
This is a new beginning, so we are all starting at the same place.
Gemme said:
Finis.

That's a good question. Our lists wax and wane,( Increase and decrease, as in size, number, strength, or intensity ) by the time the project kick-off time comes.
My suggestion, woud be to wait to see how many are signed up by the deadline, and decide.

I think I would like to participate, but I'm not really sure what it is I'm promising to do. I think I understand the basic concept, but I'm pretty sure I'm missing some basic information. (What does the wrangler do? 4x6 is the ideal size - so are only flat projects acceptable? Does it have to come in under a certain weight? Do we make as many projects as there are participants, or do we only make one project? What makes a good project?) Anyway, is there a basic informational post for noobs to this thread who want to come out and play? If not, can someone please help me out?

I can answer some of your questions, and will leave those that pertain to this specific project to Tommi as it is his. (Like weight/size limits, etc.)
I couldn't find a good FAQ post for newbies, unfortunately.
A wrangler is the person who decides to facilitate a project. This usually includes coming up with the specifics of their particular project, having all completed projects mailed to them from each of the participants, and then putting together packages including a project from everyone who participated and sending them back out. Theoretically everyone ends up with a package that contains one project from each of the other participants. It kinda sounds complicated but it's actually simpler than having everyone mail each item out individually.
Most of the time (unless stated otherwise), you make a project for each participant.
A "good" project is really anything you put your love and creativity into. :)

I totally get this and we appreciate you wanting to clarify before committing yourself!
It does not have to be flat. Tommi gave us a few options for this Spring themed project......poems, potholders, eggs (no real ones, please....food rotting in the mail and at Tommi's abode is not appetizing), etc. The idea is to not have many different sized projects for ease of mailing (an inchie with a 5x7 framed piece could spell danger for the inchie for example).
Think of the wrangler as a hub. Our projects go in as one box, get divided down (you have the option of assigning who gets what if the wrangler allows) and reshipped out a box containing one project from each of the participants who got their work in before the deadline.
We've been loosey goosey with deadlines in the past but it's led to a lot of frustration for those who complete their projects on time, so no more! If you participate, make absolute sure to get your work to Tommi by the deadline.
The wrangler is usually someone who has done a few projects, knows the ins and outs of the process and we trust with our personal info. Letting newbies wrangle, in most cases, has not worked out well in my experience.
Right now, there are 9 participants. If that does not change and you do decide to do the project, you can make either 9 or 10 if you want one back. Some of us will do that so our 'collection' from that particular wrangle is complete.
The things I think that will help you decide is to look at the project post of Tommi's and see his suggestions, think of what you'd like to do and see if you have the materials, the time and the patience to do it and get it mailed before the deadline. If the answer is yes, great! If the answer is no or probably not or not sure, I'd wait this one out.
A "good" project is really anything you put your love and creativity into. :)
Agreed!

I am new to this art journalling stuff. Each week they have prompts(on saturdays) Part of why I am doing this is to move beyond the mine isn't as good/doesn't look like I want it to/i don't want to share because Idon't want to be judged stuff.
I teach art journaling, everyone thinks their pages aren't good or "right". There is no right or wrong, it's a journal, much like the written word type, the theory being, what you produce at any given moment is what was meant to be there. I would love to share and exchange tips and tricks, and products used.
Keep up with the art journal, I have about 10 going on any given day. It is one of my greatest outlets, I just love it.

There is hope, after the last of the snow, that the world will be green again.
First day of Spring is March 20th, and too close to meet that day for many of us. So, the Easter Bunny comes hop hop hopping along (to some of us) April 5, 2015. A basket, a tiskit a tasket, green and yellow basket. ! !
A colored egg, a bunny, a spring bouquet, a glimpse of spring happiness. A picture, a postcard, a crafty project, a pot holder, a fake egg, or a real egg (Umm) colored real pretty. A coloring book picture. Your choice. Just stay in those reasonable dimensions ( 4x6 ).

These are the rules, Georgia!
The point is to be creative so we're not going to nit pick you with a lot of rules and requirements; just give you a starting point and a finish point and it's up to you how you get from point A to point B.
Just be mindful of your sizing and timing. Also, if you use anything that might need permission from people.....candy for example....then do that now through here or PMs.
As Craig Ferguson says on Celebrity Name Game: Off you go!

Am I confused? I thought March 24th was the deadline.
Don't be confused.
You're right!
It is the 24th of March. I looked earlier in Tommi's post, when he said April 5th. I got that stuck in my head. I may or may not be excited about having Easter off at work.
Or it could be snow brain.
We got another 10 inches yesterday.
Nevermind what I said before.
You only have 18 DAYS to finish and mail your projects!!!!!
One thing that maybe Tommi could clear up is that in the same post it says to send 7 and then to send 8 projects out. I'm doing extras so it doesn't matter to me but for those who aren't making extras, that should be made a little more clear.

That actually depends on what the Admin says. The raffle is going to be much, much smaller this year since most everyone has to travel to the Reunion so unless you are talking about something to donate to Angie and Jack for the fun of it, it depends on how much room they are going to have.

Ok, I've gotten a seconding from Gemme and a little bit of private feedback that folks would be receptive to me starting a new project and thati's good enough for me! For this project we will be doing:
MATCHBOX SHRINES
https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2666/4033493524_f13e00b9c2.jpg
What is a matchbox shrine you ask? Good question. It's a miniature shrine created inside a small (the 32 count matches size) match box.
A shrine is defined as:
1.
a building or other shelter, often of a stately or sumptuous character, enclosing the remains or relics of a saint or other holy person and forming an object of religious VENERATION and pilgrimage.
2.
any place or object hallowed by its HISTORY or associations:
a historic shrine.
3.
any structure or place consecrated or devoted to some saint, holy person, or deity, as an altar, chapel, church, or temple.
4.
a receptacle for sacred relics; a reliquary.
Obviously, this doesn't need to be literal and/or religious--but the spirit of creating a miniature scared space that has some sort of meaning is the point. Plan to delight you recipients and creature something they will treasure!
For some references on what different sorts of matchbox shrines look like please use some of these resources (linky loos):
Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=matchbox%20shrine)
Google Image Search (https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&biw=1600&bih=775&site=imghp&tbm=isch&sa=1&btnG=Search&q=matchbox+shrines)
Buy matchboxes on Amazon.
Please familiarize yourself with what a matchbox shrine is and the time commitment in making them as you consider signing up for this project. It *IS* a commitment. The good news is that this will be a super fun trade (with a twist even!), the bad news is there are some strict rules and also some guidelines which are not rules but recommendations.
RULES:
1) Because this IS a time consuming project and I want folks to really be able to focus on their creations, the number of participants is being capped at 6. Which means making *FIVE* matchbox shrines, one for each of the other participants. That is a lot work, actually and I will not budge on the number.
2) Signing up is strictly first come, first serve. I will post the sign up two weeks from today, so folks have time to think about whether or not they can truly commit to this. And at that point it's out of my hands. I will post the sign up Saturday, April 25th at 3PM. The next five to sign up are in.
3) Projects will be due *TWO MONTHS* after the sign up date. I want to give folks enough time to put the work into their shrines, but not let so much time go by that people start forgetting there's a deadline. So projects are due in the mail on or before Saturday, June 20th. Please include $5 to help handle shipping costs.
4) NO LATE PROJECTS. Seriously. Just--don't. I am giving you two weeks to truly search your soul as to whether or not you want to take this on. No excuses. As per the agreement of the thread--people who have outstanding projects unsent are not allowed to join. Anyone who joins this and flakes will end up publicly named and put on the list of people no longer able to join projects for that next year. Also, because of the time intensive nature of the project (and the twist which will be named momentarily), please also realize that dropping out puts a huge wrench into the works. I understand sometimes life happens but please, please, please try your 100% best to follow through if you sign up for this project.
TWIST
When each person signs up they will name a theme. This theme is how they want THEIR matchboxes decorated. So, say I pick the circus as my theme. That means everyone else makes a shrine for me with a circus theme. And it means that each shrine you make will be tailored to another participant. Hence, another level as to why this project requires a lot of thought and time. Also, themes are first come first serve. If someone who has signed up before you names a theme you want, womp womp, sorry pick a new one!
I *REALLY* want people to get projects they love and it's rare to tailor something to what the recipient wants. I think this will be a fun challenge!
GUIDELINES WITH SHRINES
Shrines are meant to have some elements of three dimensionality, texture, sculptural elements, etc. Please do NOT make something that is completely flat and one dimensional on the outside and completely flat and one dimensional on the inside, and containing no small objects.
Please decorate the outside with at least two (2) flat/base materials on your box. For example--don't use just one layer of paper or paint. Use paper and paint, paper and fabric, paint and glitter, paper and rubber stamping, etc. etc. Just think layers. I am not going to make this a rule per se--but just look at pics of shrines and use your better judgement and your best work!
Please use three dimensional elements in decorating the outside. Rhinestones, shells, sand, string, cardboard add ons, clay, etc. etc. The sky is the limit, really.
Please decorate the inside. No plain cardboard insides.
Please put something INSIDE your box. It doesn't matter what it is. A rock, a totem, an amulet, a coin, a key, a miniature card or letter. A shrine is meant to house something--so include something for your shrine to house. It does NOT have to cost money or be expensive, just a little something with a special feel to it.
LASTLY: HAVE FUN AND COME TO ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS!!!
I'll be checking the thread daily.

Can I just say how much I love and hate this?
Here's the love: it's an absolutely fantastic project that demands full and complete dedication and intent. Love that.
Here's the hate: I won't get off of work until almost 7pm on Saturday, the 25th and the spots will likely be taken. Of course I am off today and next Saturday, but that's how the cookie crumbles.
Here's my request: whomever is first (or 2nd, 3rd, or 4th) to see the sign up, PLEASE put me down also. I'll be happy to name my theme as soon as I log in after work.
Is this acceptable, CCB?

CCB, what do you think about the idea of doing an evening sign up instead of day? I think it gets murky when we have other people sign people up, and this might be a better compromise.

I would be willing to do an evening sign up if that works, but unwilling to let others sign someone else up. I agree that gets murky.
How about 9pm? Would that work Gemme? I will only change the sign up time once, so if that works for Gemme (since she spoke up first) and no one else has any major conflicts it will be Saturday April 25th at 9pm.
Speak now or forever hold your peace, everyone.

What time zone, CCB?
Hummmm, I would like to share a thought regarding the timing of this project. First, let me say I think this project is incredible - for those that take on this challenge, WOW! However, I do know its not a project within my capability.
Regarding 'time' ....... at the moment, my timezone is 12 hours ahead of New York. Thus, its rarely convenient for me to 'sign up' for an extremely desired project within a potentially short time frame.
Also, regarding 'time'..... I'm only able to participate with a due date being the beginning of July so that I can receive your gift of art before I leave in mid-August.
Again, this project is not for me but it could be there are other participants that have similar 'time' constraints'.
Respectfully,
Deb

What time zone, CCB?
Eastern Standard Time
I love love love this idea! I will have my eye surgeries half done so .Now if I can be so lucky to procure spot. I really really want to do this project! As far as time to sign up, I will be one Day post op on first eye! My surgeries and recovery will be done by 1st of May, so doing them won' t be an issue! I know several who will want to do this project most likely! This is going to be a challenge with the limits on signups! Great idea CCB! Really cool! Thank you for wrangling it!

Ok, I'm going to be really stern right now. It's not directed at a specific person.
Here's the thing: Not everyone who wants to will be able to participate in this project. Period. It sucks that it has to be that way, but I love intense, involved, time consuming, personal projects. And with something of this scope it just cannot accommodate a high number of participants.
I can't make the sign up convenient for everyone. If you have a specific time conflict with 9PM E.S.T. on Saturday April 25th, please let it be known now and I will do my best to make it fair to the largest number of people. I'm willing to try and compromise but I am not willing to let this get out of hand. I actually picked 3PM on a Saturday originally because I thought it would be a fair time considering different time zones.
Again--once the sign up time change is official, it's official. I will *NOT* change it again. I will announce the final sign up time tomorrow at noon, my time, E.S.T. Put in your bids until then--after that it's just gonna have to be tough luck for those who can't participate.
Edited To Add: Ok, I was just informed that since we're in Daylight Savings time Eastern Standard Time is not currently a thing. So. United States East Coast time, Massachusetts time, CCB Standard Time, is the time I am going for here.

I think this project sounds awesome! What I don't like is that only five people are "in" and it is taking 2.5 months. Would there be a problem with having another project going at the same time for the people who don't make it onto the list? That is, if anyone wants to, of course.
Not complaining about the participant number, I can see why it is necessary. I just don't want to not have a project for so long if I'm not one of the lucky ones.

It's totally fine for anyone to start a project at the same time as any other project. :)

Adding: it's also fine for CCB to say if it's a rule for her project that the people who sign up for the project she's wrangling agree not to participate in other penpal thread projects that happen within that same time frame.

And for all projects, a reminder:
"For 2015, the rule is if one of us is more than a week late or drops out* of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a project again until 2016. No exceptions. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."
*drop outs can, of course, occur if done within the rules (i.e. BEFORE the closing date for the sign up period)
I think (correct me if I'm wrong CCB) that CCB's project has so few slots for sign up that she's not having a closing date for sign up and is instead asking that anyone who signs up only do so if they know they will NOT be dropping out.

This was always my understanding as well. I certainly don't mind other folks wrangling a project at the same time as mine is going.

I think due to the scope of the matchbox shrines it would be best for folks not to participate in other pen pal thread projects at the same time.

You are correct. I posted my project two weeks before the sign up date specifically because I want people to be VERY sure about the commitment before signing up. Since it's tailored to the other participants, and also because there aren't a lot of slots open I feel not dropping out/changing one's mind is important here.

I'm patiently waiting for our Spring project, but yet antsy for something to work on next...
I'm going to throw out a project. It will be easy, yet very personal.
First Summer Project
Share with us some of your favorite summer dishes, drinks, dips, BBQ secrets, etc. Let me know if this sounds interesting to you. I have ideas on how we can pull it all together and be creative at the same time. I don't think it should take that long, possibly 3 weeks.
Details will come later, after I know I have some takers.

Speak now or forever hold your peace, everyone.
Any time from 7pm on would be great, so 9pm definitely works for me. I spent some time cruising Etsy last night and I found some really neat projects that I have no chance in Hell of being able to complete BUT I think I found some that I can do in the time frame given so I am totally jazzed about this project. I've got MY theme picked out already. You know what they say....if you dream it, if you believe it, you will manifest it.
One thing I would like clarification on is the size. You said the 32 matches box size but mine are empty when I get them so I don't have a frame of reference to go by. Do you mean the size we did before (a little over 1 inch wide and a little over 2 inches long) or a larger size? I'm asking for a specific measurement or an 'educated guesstimate' if you can give one as I have found several options that I could order but need to know if we're looking at something in the 1x2 range or the 2x3 range or the 2x4 range or the 2.5x5 range, etc.
Thanks a bunch!
I appreciate CCB being very specific and yes, it will suck greasy monkey balls if I don't get on the list, but I respect the limitations set. She didn't just PFA them. She thought about them and they are based on years of experience with projects and wrangles and the things that can go bump in the night and wrong in our lives.
We have some newish folks and they may not understand the frustration we've experienced when deadlines are extended out again and again for late arrivals and when the projects don't get sent back when they say they are going to be. Like now. I'm sure something came up that Tommi didn't expect but those of us who participated are anxiously awaiting our little gems of crafty goodness and it's hard. It's like having to wait for a birthday pressie we were promised. Hard!
A note for future wranglers. The time frame rules MUST apply to you as well. I have no worries that Besame will be prompt but others might not be. I caution those who want to wrangle to keep in mind that you MUST return our projects to us when you say you will or the rules regarding lateness will apply to you as well. We didn't specifically spell that out before but it must be enforced as well for the wrangles to run like well-oiled machines.
The project MUST be postdated by the date the wrangler states in the thread, the wrangler MUST be honest and firm and not allow late comers to throw off the project (and MUST let the rest of us know who was late) and the wrangler MUST send out the projects when they say they will.
No more months long waiting for projects to come in or go out. We all have busy lives and those of us that contribute have expectations based on what is put into the thread. No one else's work/lives/schedules/etc should be compromised due to another's. It's as simple as that.

MODIFIED reminder for all future projects:
"For 2015, the rule is if one of us is late in meeting the due date for a project or drops out of a project after the closing date for sign up has passed (in instances where there is a closing date), that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a project again until 2016. No exceptions. Timeliness also applies to wranglers who must send out projects within a week of the due date for the project. For full transparency and to eliminate any confusion, on the day after the due date wranglers must also post a final list of the names of members from whom they received projects and the names of those who did not meet the due date. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project whether as a wrangler or by signing up."
thank you Gemme & nycfem! I appreciate this clarity and rightfully respect these rules...and absolutely agree to them!

New sign up date and time: Saturday, April 25th at 9PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time (otherwise known as, the time where CCB is in Massachusetts)
NO MORE CHANGES WILL BE MADE TO THE TIME/DATE OF SIGN UP, DUE DATES, OR NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS ALLOWED. All new information is reflected below in red. This includes the sign up date, matchbox sizes, and new participant and wrangler rules.
For this project we will be doing:
MATCHBOX SHRINES
https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2666/4033493524_f13e00b9c2.jpg
What is a matchbox shrine you ask? Good question. It's a miniature shrine created inside a small (the 32 count matches size) match box. The measurements of the box are approximately 1.5" X 2.25". Please stay within this size range.

I will post the sign up Saturday, April 25th at 9PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, aka. CCB Standard Time.
I will be mailing projects back out on Saturday June 27th. The June 20th due date is THE LAST POSSIBLE DAY to put your project in the mail. It would be even better if you did it earlier to ensure timely arrival!
This weekend....I have all your stuff.
My sincerest apologies. I have been deathly ill, and did not want to share my germs even by mail.
Sick enough to even go to the doctor. I have had something...like bronchial or walking pneumonia, flu, ugly nasty stay in bed kind of illness. even during a planned trip we had to take.
I guess 2 International flights, Montreal , Home, Toronto, home, plus 3 other flights, Portland, Phoenix, St. Louis helped me to catch something really nasty. Then a conference we were part of in Tampla. UGh.

MATCHBOX SHRINES
https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2666/4033493524_f13e00b9c2.jpg
What is a matchbox shrine you ask? Good question. It's a miniature shrine created inside a small (the 32 count matches size) match box. The measurements of the box are approximately 1.5" X 2.25". Please stay within this size range.
I will post the sign up Saturday, April 25th at 9PM Eastern Daylight Savings Time, aka. CCB Standard Time.
I will be mailing projects back out on Saturday June 27th. The June 20th due date is THE LAST POSSIBLE DAY to put your project in the mail. It would be even better if you did it earlier to ensure timely arrival!
For 2015, the rule is if one of us is late in meeting the due date for a project or drops out of a project after the closing date for sign up has passed (in instances where there is a closing date), that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a project again until 2016. No exceptions. Timeliness also applies to wranglers who must send out projects within a week of the due date for the project. For full transparency and to eliminate any confusion, on the day after the due date wranglers must also post a final list of the names of members from whom they received projects and the names of those who did not meet the due date. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project whether as a wrangler or by signing up.

I want the creature AND the element represented. You CANNOT do mermaids for this project.

It's a valid question. Shrines aren't always beautiful you know. Some are geared towards vibrant visuals that may not necessarily be aesthetically pleasing to the eye but they are very striking. You could have opted to go that route, for example.

Bèsame*, have you made any decisions yet about this? I was looking forward to it. Although I don't know exactly what you had planned, I was going to suggest possibly going through the bfp site to find contributions, if you're thinking about a single group project. I guess we'd have to ask the original posters for permission. But I know I have posted my BBQ recipe before, and there is probably some other good stuff out there. Just wondering if you had an update.
I'm looking to participate in a quick-turn-around project .... of course, it needs to be within 'my' parameters of time. lolol I arrive in Canada on July 3rd and could have my 'stuff' mailed out on Monday, July 6th. I would need to receive my goodies by the end of the first week in August. I realize this might not be doable and I'm okay with that. I enjoy living vicariously through the artwork and discussions of others. Not sure that I have a favourite BBQ recipe but I'm always good for something for dessert.

Craziness indeed! I think pure and I may have had to resort to similar ideas. I've gone to umpteen (that's a technical phrase for A LOT) of stores for one idea for CCB's shrine and I get this look :|. They either have no idea what I'm talking about or kind of get the gist of it but can't help me.
I'm improvising like a mutha over here.
BUT
Surprisingly, I've totally got Jennifer's all planned out and am good to go.

I don't think any theme is 'easy' per se, given the extent of the project. If it were a regular matchbox project, sure, but with the multi-dimensional shrine aspect, that makes everything more challenging.
Challenging is good. Can't be in a creative slump or rut if you are challenged, right?
The hardest part for me is what is always the hardest part for me.....making my super fantastic awe-inspiring mental image (which is always amazing) a reality (which is not usually amazing). So, for me, this project isn't harder than other projects. I think I just love it so much that it would bother me a lot more to fall short this time. We did a 3D project years and years ago and I've dipped back into that experience for guidance so I think I'm good.
Thanks for the date. I thought that was it but I was too lazy to look back and confirm.

It should be like one of those wizarding tents in Harry Potter--all normal sized looking from the outside but then opening up and being huge on the inside. We could shove all kinds of stuff in there.

I started work in earnest on my projects today. Aaaaand.....I really thought I had more talent than this. :|
And here I thought I was going easy on you guys with the mermaid theme!
I'm getting so excited to see all of these now! *squeee!* I haven't really started yet except for the planning stages and the gathering of some supplies. I hope I don't run into any major issues.
The mail out date is Saturday, June 20th.
It all makes sense now.
In my calendar I had Shrines due, June 20th, but I had no idea what it was referring to, thinking I had to pay the Shrine circus or something.
I've been a bit out of it lately :jester: -- please continue.
CCB-- I'll send my projects out closer to June.

No paying of the shrine circus, ahk! Unless you count your donation to our crazy little cause!
I have begun work on my shrines in earnest and must say I am now very pleased with how they're coming out!

I may have muttered a curse towards one of you this afternoon.
I won't say which one and what I said but it might have involved Wile E. Coyote type damage.

OK, I have my craft table up and most of my room organized. Let's get something started!!
First Summer Project
Lets pull our favorite summer recipes together. It can be a dip, a drink, a snack, marinate, etc..the sky is the limit for recipe ideas.
You: write 2-5 of your fav recipes, a set for each person who signs up. Then design your section, with a page tab. A design tab page for each set of recipes for each person who signs up.
I'll include some ideas for your recipe pages, size to be posted later. And some ideas for your tab page.
Mail them off by the determined date, on time, no delays.
me: receive all beautifully designed recipe cards and tab page from all thos who have signed up. I'll hole punch them all and pull them together into a summer recipe book. Mail them out, and then we can test everyone's great treats all summer long.
The idea sorta looks like this...

If this is something that you want to participate in, let me know. I'll post more detailed instructions once I see an interest in this project.
For the newbies, this a project where you make enough for everyone who signs up. Send it to the 'project wrangler' , me. (I'll collect from everyone, and send out a completed project) You will then receive a project with something from everyone who participated. It's fun, read back thru some of the past posts and check out other projects.
Remember, if you sign up, you must follow the guidelines that have been put in place this year.
P.S. ..Sis, I will make this project fit around your dates!

Ok, looks like we have five interested crafters so far. I'm going to open this up for sign ups. Of course the more the merrier, but I'm going to limit this to 10. Writing 2-4 recipes times 10, is plenty.
Once you sign up, I'll notify you with more details via email. I think that will be easiest , due to the fact of measurements and the examples of creativity I will share.
There will be a sign up cut off date of Monday, June 1
Be in the mail, July 6th. I'll assemble and get them out in 4 days after I receive the projects from our out of the country crafters. ( working around our PenPal crafter, Sis, who will be in Canada.)
When sending your completed projects to me, please include $5 for return postage.
This looks to be a fun project, I'm excited and have lots of ideas! Just remember, that if you sign up, you need to adhere to the timeline to participate in future projects.

The process:
1~OMG why did I sign up for this, otherwise known as the panic period, it comes and goes through out the process.
2. Self talk~ the knock it off, grow up, get a grip, make a plan phase. This is the part where the intelligent part of my brain kicks in and reminds myself that the "thinking about it phase" is infact happening even though I am not thinking about it.
3~ The start putting something on paper phase, So Iget something on paper so I don't forget my ideas.
4~the actually start doing something phase, this is where I am at! projects have been begun!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey Anya.....they usually do not post pics of projects til all participants receive theirs! Most of us like being surprised to open the project artworks! But perhaps pics can be posted after received.....the wranglers could opt to do so. Thanks for the positive comments in your post! I am excited to see these latest projects as well!

Duh! I did not even think of that! That would defeat the purpose of a lovely surprise, absolutely!
Never mind that idea!
Anytime in the future, after folks have received them, would be great if possible.
Thanks clay!
