How about we give our usual suspects a few days to think about it and then hash it out this weekend? I think I have something brewing but I'm not sure if it will turn into anything. A few days may help work it out. Is that okay?

I got my package late yesterday afternoon. I was out ALL DAY, with appointments, leaving home @ 930am & returning 430PM. I was worn out.

I FINALLY got to sit down & open my magical package of mermaid fun-ness at 730PM.

First off, I LOVE each & everyone of the pics, and how fun was it to see the details of all the mermaids. Great job, everyone.

CCB, I love mine you made for me....she is so adorable!!

Katzchen, the one you made, did look just like diamonds in her hair! Awesome work.

nycfem, yours were great! Thanks for sending two!

Nanners..she is adorable!

Gemme, I loved the one you made as well!

CCB, that was one more clever idea on the packaging to send back!! That was super imaginative, that way, all the pics & copies were protected!

This was a very fun project, and I would like to see some more along these lines going forward...a fall collage, dolphins, a sunset, or other ideas would be so fun with this guideline....:).

I just opened the package CCB mailed to me and what a treat to see everyone's art projects! I have two signed off by nycfem, both separate and different pictures (both very artsy!). Then one picture of Gemme's (so cute!). Then an anonymous mermaid with pink fins and wearing an pink bralette (this one is yours CCB? -- she's a doll, for sure!). Clay's is very subtle and so pretty and painstakingly made (thanks for the accompanying story about her, clay!).

Nanner's… your mermaid is just darling! :stillheart:

I love the mermaid you created for me! Thank you so very, very much! :)

What an awesome summer project and such a delight to see everyone's creative talent! :bunchflowers:

YVW & thank you for the compliments on Meri! I spent hours gluing each individual seed bead onto her tail...:). I enjoyed writing her story, too!

This WAS one of the most fun projects we have done in quite a long time! I hope to do some more using CCB's parameters, going forward.

I am excited to hear new ideas for our next one also.!

Awesome! My idea is in the early stages but what do you think about this?

Create Your Own Creature

I'd already thought about something like this before but clay mentioned wanting to do something similar to the Mermaid Project again and this felt right.

Basically, the core of the idea is to create a brand new creature using at least 2 recognizable features of other creatures, animals, beings or entities. For example, you can take the wings of a Pegasus and the head of a lion, like a different version of a Hippogriff, or you can put human legs on a mermaid torso and the face of an antelope. The options are, literally, endless.

You would even name your creation!

Here's an article about fantasy creatures (https://theportalist.com/fantasy-creatures-we-wish-really-existed) to give you an idea of what can be mixed and matched. You can also do it PFA style and randomly attach body parts that seem interesting to you and see what happens.

Here's a link to a page about mythical and fantasy creatures (http://www.mythcreatures.co.uk/) for inspiration. This page has tons of links to tons of creatures and critters so it's an excellent resource.

For those feeling experimental, you can use more than 2 but I didn't want to overwhelm anyone. The genius of this project is that it doesn't matter what the end result looks like. Who's going to tell you that you didn't do it right if it's an imaginary creature of your own making? lol

I haven't worked out sizing, materials, et cetera, but wanted to test the water temperature with y'all.

So, what do you all think? Is it something you would be interested in trying?

ETA: Just so I understand human features don't count as one of the "creatures", correct?

I have no issues with clay as long as the additional mailing cost was factored into the equation. In fact, I was going to suggest that if someone felt like making their piece more dimensional, they could.

However, I really, really like having the individual pieces in hand. I don't know if some of you know this, but I like to put some of our projects in books, shadow boxes and frames. They are so lovely when a group is put together so you can see the variety of our imaginations. That's harder to do when some are flat and some are dimensional.

Given the nature of the beast, so to speak, I'd allow for plenty of time to get enough pieces done and would impose a set limit so it wouldn't get ridiculous (although I can imagine this wouldn't appeal to all of our crafters).

I agree to making an individual creation for every participant as long as there's a reasonable cap. I know limiting the numbers does not appeal to some, but due to the nature of the beast, I think it's necessary here.

First, please let Clay know that I am also sending good energy and and healing thoughts ...... I hate to hear that Clay isn't doing well!

Secondly, I'm interested in this particular exchange although I need more details. I was thinking it would be similar to the mermaid project and only one item would be produced. My forming idea is one which would involve a sewing machine and stuffing which would require it to be sent directly to the person receiving it due to shipping costs. Again, these are my thoughts and not expectations.

Nope. Not a one off like the Mermaid Project. I was taking inspiration from the whole fantasy creature idea and the actual focus of the project. That's the similarity I was drawing from. I understand the desire to make only one but that's not where I'm at with this project.

If everyone is fine with me at the helm this time, I'll finalize the details and get a sign up list ready in the next day or two. If so, and I limit the sign up to no more than 7, what is the time frame everyone would be most comfortable with?

Gemme? I am not sure if I can participate in the next crafter's round project, but I have a couple things I wanted to inquire about:

1) If this round is limited to 7 participants, and the project consists of making an creature project for each participant, then what size parameter will each entry be?

2) Is it okay to submit an drawing or is the medium limited to using paints or watercolors or color pencils or ?????

After the last project this summer, I thought I would not be able to participate in another crafting round. I might be able to do it, but will wait to see your final parameters for this particular craft round.

As I understand, so far, this round is about making 3-dimensional fantasy creatures. And, in order to create something with dimensional qualities, we can use mixed media to achieve this effect, correct?

I will wait to see your final list of criteria before I can decide if I can participate, ok?

I'm good with you heading up the next round as wrangler. Like CCB, I'm not down with creating an project that is top heavy by utilizing clay (for example: I am okay with an tiny use of clay vs clay being the predominate medium).

Good Morning to everyone... :bouquet:

Of course Gemme will pop in to clarify for sure, but I think that they don't have to be 3-dimensional but can have elements of 3 dimensional IF the participant is willing to add extra shipping should that increase the shipping charge.

I appreciate your inquiries. It's good to really think about the projects and what time and materials they may require to complete. I will definitely post the official parameters very soon. I have some house chores I need to do today but will get the details ironed out and post the sign up list then.

Of course Gemme will pop in to clarify for sure, but I think that they don't have to be 3-dimensional but can have elements of 3 dimensional IF the participant is willing to add extra shipping should that increase the shipping charge.

Our nyc is 100% correct. 3D elements are NOT a requirement.

I appreciate the feedback on the project length and have gotten word that we may have a newbie joining us, which would be awesome, so I may extend it out even longer for them to get their sea legs under them and so those who do opt to do 3D elements have plenty of time to incorporate them successfully.

I am super stoked about this project, crafters! Maybe it's because I watched that show Making It, which if you haven't done so, look it up. I'm sure it's on YouTube. I know we have new creatures just waiting to be brought to life and am so excited about seeing what those who participate come up with. This is going to be designed to be fun and as quirky and kooky as you want to be. The stranger the better, I say!

Create Your Creature Project

Create a brand new creature using at least 2 recognizable features of other creatures, animals, beings or entities. For example, you can take the wings of a Pegasus and the head of a lion, like a different version of a Hippogriff, or you can put human legs on a mermaid torso and the face of an antelope. The options are--literally--endless. You are not restricted by the confines of reality. Delve into the magical and mythical realms to construct your creature. It can be monstrous or gorgeous. Your creature; your choice.

THERE IS NO WRONG CHOICE HERE. These are YOUR creations. YOU bring them to life, as YOU see them.

You even get to name your creation!

Here's an article about fantasy creatures (https://theportalist.com/fantasy-creatures-we-wish-really-existed) to give you an idea of what can be mixed and matched. You can also do it PFA (pulled from the air or pulled from your a@@) style and randomly attach body parts that seem interesting to you and see what happens. This is all about fun experimentation.

Here's a link to a page about mythical and fantasy creatures (http://www.mythcreatures.co.uk/) for inspiration. This page has tons of links to tons of creatures and critters so it's an excellent resource.

For those feeling exceptionally experimental, you can use more than 2 but I didn't want to overwhelm anyone. The genius of this project is that it doesn't matter what the end result looks like. Who's going to tell you that you didn't do it right if it's an imaginary creature of your own making? lol

How it will work: you will create a creature from at least 2 different parts of other creatures in order to make a brand new and exciting creature of your very own! I've provided links to give you inspiration but feel free to go outside the box. There is no way to be wrong here but do NOT just draw a picture of an existing creature. Make your own!

We will have 8.5 weeks to finish our creatures. 1 week will be added on as our usual buffer, and any project received late--or if any person who drops out after the sign up has closed--is officially timed out and on the naughty list. I will mail the projects out 2 weeks after due date.

*DATES TO REMEMBER*
Sign up starts today, Tuesday, September 18th and will close on Sunday, September 23rd at midnight. It's not our usual week long process because the sign up is limited.

Projects are due in my hands Friday, November 16th. Officially late and on the naughty list on Saturday, November 24th. If extra time is needed please speak now or forever hold your peace.

Keep in mind that someone may want to do a holiday project so there might be some carry over between the two projects. I don't have a problem with that but schedules will need to be kept in mind as the holidays are coming up and that slows the mail down. The final, absolute date to have your project in my hands is right after the Thanksgiving holiday so plan your shipping accordingly.

I will mail projects back out by Friday, November 30th, or I am timed out and on the naughty list.

*GUIDELINES* Please create one creature made from AT LEAST 2 other creatures.

You may create the same creature for everyone or a different one for each participant. Your choice.

Size: 6 x 8 inches or smaller on the substrate of your choice. It just needs to be big enough for us to clearly see your creature and identify the other creatures you used to create your new creature.

If your piece is thicker than cardboard, or heavier like wood, or because of lots of embellishing PLEASE include extra money for shipping. The cost for this project will be $7 for traditional flat pieces and $10 if your project is thick, heavy, exceptionally fragile or has a lot of 3D elements to allow for extra packaging and shipping on my end. Keep in mind this project has to go through the mail twice and plan accordingly.

As far as media--you can use anything you wish from pencil to watercolor to acrylic to stamps to crayons and markers to string art, collage, beading, clay, fabric, and whatever you imagination can think of!

Please keep in mind if your project is very heavily embellished or fragile to add the additional shipping cost.

The only real rules are:

1) The size is 6 x 8 at the LARGEST. Smaller is fine.

2) Be creative! Don't forget to name your creature!

3) Be on time.

4) Include the appropriate shipping cost with your work.

5) Participation is limited to no more than 7 artists.

RULES AS AGREED UPON TO BE ADDED AT THE END OF EACH PROJECT:
"For 2018, the rule is if one of our projects is received by the wrangler more than seven days after the due date, or one of us drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until six months from the latest date that the project was supposed to be due. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. Wranglers must mail out projects within one week of the latest date that the projects were supposed to be due. In addition to waiting six months before being able to join a penpal project, the person who has not met the latest deadline must post directly on the penpal thread within a week of missing the latest deadline stating that they have not adhered to the deadline (reason is welcome to be included or does not have to be) and, most importantly, the date on which they will be able to return to participating in the penpal projects. They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2018. The reason for this is personal responsibility, so that we have a running record right on the thread that is easy to refer back to when needed. And for the purposes of clarification, if someone drops out before the deadline to sign up has been closed then they are not excluded from future projects because they are still following the rules.

Example: Bitsy misses the late date for a project. Within a week of that late date she must scroll down and find the most recent list of people who have missed the late date in 2018 and copy that list to a new post and add herself. Bitsy's post would look something like this:

'Sorry, I had the bird flu and missed the late date of 2/21/18. I can start participating in new projects on 8/21/18. I have added myself to the list below:

1. Tony (missed the late date of 1/28/18, able to participate 7/28/18)
2. Bitsy (missed the late date of 2/21/18, able to participate 8/21/18)'

This rule must be posted in its entirety at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."

Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that.

First of all, thank you so much to all of the well wishes for me, candles, hugs, calls, texts, and good juju!

I am home from hospital....and getting my self back on my track to good health. It was NOT anything cardiac as first suspected. I am very grateful for that.
I am going to do this project. It is great therapies for me. PLUS seeing wonderful creative from others!!

Thanks again, you all are my chosen family & I LOVE this group so much!

Have an awesome day...and I LOVED the plays on "clay" & Clay....made me feel warm & fuzzies!! I love you guys!!!

Gemme, will we still do photocopies again for this one, I thought it was going to be included with all forward projects...thanks...I LOVE this project. It is really fun, whimsical, and very thought provoking...:). Thanks for this new idea! Thanks for being wrangler, my friend

Clay, so glad to hear you are home from hospital and that you will be participating in the project.

For the project, I just wanted to input that I would prefer if photocopying for group projects be optional. Sometimes I like to make mine personal and really don't want to share what I make for one person with every person. It also starts to feel like homework, plus color copies add cost. I wouldn't mind doing it sometimes and certainly enjoy receiving them, but would prefer not to have it be a requirement.

I'm glad you are feeling better!

I don't remember anything being said about photocopying for future projects. I thought that was just for the Mermaid Project.

It won't be a part of this project but other wranglers can choose to include that option going forward.

This project will include individual pieces for each person.

Here's an article about fantasy creatures to give you an idea of what can be mixed and matched. You can also do it PFA (pulled from the air or pulled from your a@@) style and randomly attach body parts that seem interesting to you and see what happens. This is all about fun experimentation.

Here's a link to a page about mythical and fantasy creatures for inspiration.

So, today I got all my 5x7 card stock boards ready for my drawings, which will be one Creature, in an different pose for each person in our group.

There might be an Gold & Silver theme, there might be candy from the No-Sugar Fairy involved, and Her name is related to my specific area in the Pacific Northwest. :eyebat:

I'm taking my sister-in-law down to the coast in a few weeks, so I'll be mailing my project from Lincoln City. I'll jet the tracking number to you when I do that, ok Gemme???

I decorated the matte frames I bought for the rendered drawings and so, I will naturally send some extra cash to you with my project.

I SooOoOoOoOoo wanna tell you Her name, but I'm letting it be my little Post Secret, m-kay??? :tease:

I don't know what I'm going to do with myself now but I'm kinda thinking I'll be busy because Jane Davenport is doing a daily prompt for October called Artober, she's the artist who did the mermaid prompts for the month of may--Mermay. So that should be exciting!

Hi Wheat!

While I am happy to see your interest in this project, unfortunately, the signups are closed, and for this one, we set a limit of 7!

Come to the thread often, and sometime late November, we will most likely do another project UNLESS we decide, as a group, to do one post holidays. We welcome responsible new folks to join our group!!

I highlighted in blue the signup, deadline, and buffer period for this one, and you can read the project rules, and general rules at the bottom.

Please, follow this thread, and look forward to seeing your creative skillz in the future, should you decide to join in.

Welcome, and thanks for your interest!

Did a couple of rough drafts and trying to decide on what direction to go. It's the little thing's that make my heart happy. We've been gone for two weeks as we celebrated my father in law who passed away on the 15 of August. We finally got home to Oregon last Sunday and now I have some kind of crude. Having autoimmune issues sucks!

Just to quickly stop by and say Hello to everyone in the crafting group, this morning! I am not sure if I will be able to sit in on future crafting projects, due to a number of things going on in life, here at home, but I am excited to receive everyone's latest art project, when Gemme gets ready to mail them out!

I was thinking about working on a few small art projects here at home, over the winter months. I bought a few tapestries for my wall, over the past few months, so I might go in search of certain types of wood to create frames for each tapestry I purchased from artists, this past year. And, another project I plan to work on is to refurbish two wall-type partition dividers (I forget the name of these types of stylish room partitions) that my sister-in-law re-gifted to me to use in my apartment home. I want to see about either finding certain types of sheer fabric or find certain types of coloured paper products, so I can turn them into unique forms of art. Kind of along the lines of what a mosaic like church window might look like. I was thinking that when the hot sunshine returns, that the sunlight would filter through them and create beautiful displays of fragmented displays of light and help shade the west end of my home from the brilliant sunshine. I have yet to see anything I might could use at Crafter's Warehouse or at Michael's …. but we have an resourceful, interesting business in the Mississippi district, here in town, which is a good place to find upcycled pieces of wood or useful items for renovation projects, house-wise. So I might drop by there and see what they have and get a few ideas on how I might go about upgrading the condition of the room partition thingie's my sister-in-law gave to me, recently.

Gemme? Have you been tinkering with new ideas on the next upcoming project? If so, what sort of art project ideas have you (or other's) been considering?

New project (Everyone welcome, you do NOT need any artistic ability, just be reliable and enthusiastic -that's what we care about):

Sign-up in progress:

This is a holiday themed post secret round wrangled by moi. Holidays can be any holiday from all 365 days of the year. The secret could be anything related to your experiences or feelings about the holiday(s), past, present, or future. To look at examples, google images for "postsecret Halloween" or "postsecret Thanksgiving" (etc.). Lots of room for creativity! Make at least 1 for each person. Feel free to make more but not required.

Please include 7$ with your project for my mailing costs. Please do NOT send me a package that requires signature upon delivery.

Sign up will close this Sunday, December 2nd at midnight. Projects are due to me by Dec. 31st. You have a week grace period but after that, your project turns into firewood and you don't get your package of projects that others made you. You also won't be able to participate again for 6 months.

You can sign your name on your postsecret postcards or keep them anonymous. You can designate who you want to receive each card, or let me decide. Special points to anyone who let's me decide. Because that's fun! If you do want a specific person to get the card, write their name on the back of the card or put it in a little plastic bag labeled with "To so-and-so."

You can make all your postcards the same or all different. "Postcard" size can be whatever from ATC size to large postcard, just don't do anything crazy or heavy.

Please don't send me anything from a smoking home, perfumey, or with unsealed glitter

Okay, folks. I'll be sending out the packages for the Creature project tomorrow. If you have a different address than what is on your package, please email that to me today. CCB, I have your new one ready to go! Also, you'll be getting the one intended for Justkim back unless you want me to hold onto it. Let me know if you'd rather not receive it back.

Have you heard from Justkim at all?

…. is the final count of participants in the Post Secret project still stand at 10? Did anyone else sign up over the weekend?

If the number still stands at 10, then my project is ready to be mailed out this week. If anyone else signed up, over the weekend, I can add them to the project mailer I'm sending to you, before I mail it out.

Well, it's taken a week but my package arrived at 5:56pm tonight at the NY hub so it should get to you tomorrow. I guess I should have paid the double shipping to get it there in 3 days. Or send it out earlier, but that's not my style. I think I thrive on the stress of coming down to the wire, given the number of times I've slid in under it.

To think, it's taken a week to get to a place that I could have driven to in about 5 hours.

I have an idea. How would you like to do vision boards? I don’t think we’ve ever done this before. I would recommend them being about 8 1/2 x 11”. That way they’ll be easy mailing. Does everyone know what a vision board is? I also think it’s kind of a neat project I have in the beginning of the year, so that we can see if we accomplish any of our visions at the end of the year.

After thinking about this a while, I’m not really sure how the best way do it would be. One way we could do it, is just taking one of your visions for the year and making one for each person. The size could be smaller than an 8 1/2 x 11. Maybe half that size would be a good idea. You could either take one vision and make it for everybody, or if you have a lot of visions for the year you could give everyone a different vision. I’m open to all of your ideas and thoughts about this.

I think that mini vision boards would be fun. One idea is that when each person signs up that person can also include what they want to be the focus of the Vision boards that they receive. Wouldn’t it be fun to get like 10 mini vision boards in the mail to inspire us to manifest the vision :-)

Yes that is actually perfect! Let’s do it that way! I think that is absolutely wonderful. Would everybody agree to that? If so, I would like to be the wrangler, and I can get the sign-up list ready to go by tomorrow at 6:00 pm CST. Okay, so I looked it up and found this video. I really like her energy and am sure she does a great job as a life coach. I will also likely continue to watch her YouTube content so this is a win-win research moment. Score!

oF0C61yLZ-s

With the way Shainaleis explained it, I now feel more comfortable with expanding the maximum size allowed to 5x7 or even 6x8 (doesn't mean we all have to go that big but it won't take long for images to completely fill a small board/paper/card/etc.). I do feel that 8x10 and larger would be a bit too much for me if it's required but I have no issues if it's just listed as a 'maximum size' and anything else smaller is acceptable. If that's the case, that takes the stress off of everyone that is struggling to create a larger board.

I do have a question about intention. Are we going to be creating boards for the individuals that will receive them or for ourselves? That makes a big difference in difficulty and time needed, I feel. I think I could finish one based on myself faster than I could for someone else but I would need a good sized chunk of time, regardless, as this is very new to me but I love collage and this seems to be collage with intention and I think that's cool.

Initially, my gut feeling was "nope; not for me" but I really feel I could get into this. It doesn't require much in terms of materials: images from magazines or books or printed out from the computer, something to hold them down and maybe some markers or pens/pencils to make it prettier and give it flow. I've got plenty of that so I'm down.

My main thing would be making sure we have plenty of time. As CCB mentioned, it's a work and time intensive project, so if we have plenty of that, I think I can produce something nice for everyone. Who knows? Maybe it'll bring something nice back! :)

ETA: This is a perfect project for the beginning of the year! Maybe we could check in next year to see how things turned out.

Gemme, I love your ideas and thoughts about those. I’ll look at the video a bit later but I just wanted to say that I think 8 x 10 maximum size is great! Then people can make them anywhere between 4 x 6 and 8 x 10, your choice.

I would like everyone to have an idea of what their vision might be for this year for them selves. When we do the sign up, you must state your vision for the year for yourself. Everyone will be making you one piece of art based on your vision. This may even bring new ideas to you, within your vision. So at the end, you will have pieces of art to look at and maybe expand your vision based on others ideas/images/thoughts that they used on the Vision board for you.

I don’t think 10 people will sign up, however I’ll limit it to 10.
Yes, an expanded time frame is a good idea since this is a first for many.
What would you think of having the sign-up next Saturday beginning at 9:00 am CST, and ending Monday at 9:00 pm CST?
The due date could be 3/2/19 with grace period ending on 3/9/19. Is that enough time?

Gemme, I also like the thought of checking in with each other at the beginning of next to see if we made our visions realities. Maybe with before/after photos or just posting what you did.

I like the idea of the size options. Maybe 8.5 x 11 could also be an option for folks. I might consider it if we have only a small number sign up (to do 8.5 by 11, I mean), and of course if it is also an option. The more I think about it, the size options are nice because items cut out for collages can sometimes be big and it's nice to have the flexibility.

Gemme, I also like the thought of checking in with each other at the beginning of next to see if we made our visions realities. Maybe with before/after photos or just posting what you did.

Great!

Most vision boards have several points of interest. When we sign up, should we list the general categories that we'd like to address throughout the year (health, financial, professional, etc) or would you prefer we only list one subject?

I like the idea of the size options. Maybe 8.5 x 11 could also be an option for folks. I might consider it if we have only a small number sign up (to do 8.5 by 11, I mean), and of course if it is also an option. The more I think about it, the size options are nice because items cut out for collages can sometimes be big and it's nice to have the flexibility.

Good point!

Here's a shout out to all who might be interested:

We are starting a new pen pal project so if you have never been part and want to try, just chime in and let us know you're interested! :)

This does sound like a good beginners project to start off with. And I know I will have an over abundance of resources for the project.

Let me mull this over....

I like the variety of sizes...yes to anything from 4 X 6 to 8.5 X 11. Also I do think it would be nice to have more than one vision listed when we do the sign up. You can list as many as you wish, and when someone is doing yours, they can do one, two or all of them, I’m going to leave that open to the artist.

Is anyone feeling like we should do the signup earlier than the weekend, or do people need time to think? Remember, when you sign up you must list your vision(s). I would allow you to edit the visions you list until the close of sign up.

Yes, this is a great idea. That way the artist can hone in on one or decide to do all or somewhere in the middle.

New project! Everyone is welcome, you do NOT need any artistic ability, just be reliable and enthusiastic -that's what we care about!
This project is limited to the first 10 people that sign up.

vi·sion board
noun
a collage of images and words representing a person's wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation.
"on her vision board she put a log cabin, a sailboat, a red car, and a butch femme couple dancing on a white carpet"

This is the first project of 2019, so let’s think about what we want to happen in our lives this year…the project is VISION BOARDS! Wouldn’t it be fun to get like 10 mini vision boards in the mail to inspire us to manifest our vision? Everyone will be making you one piece of art based on your vision. This may even bring new ideas to you, within your vision. So at the end, you will have pieces of art to look at and maybe expand your vision based on others ideas/images/thoughts that they used on the Vision board for you.

For examples Google images for “Vision Board”.

Parameters:

• Can be any size between 4 X 6 and 8.5 X 11
• Sign up starts at 9:00 PM CST 01-16-19 (Wednesday) and closes at 9:00 PM CST on 01-20-19 (Sunday) OR when we have 10 signed up!
• When you sign up, you must state one or more of your visions for yourself for 2019. You can edit your vision(s) until sign up closes,
• You must make one vision board for each participant based on one or more of their visions
• On the back of your project please list these things: Your name and the person’s name you made the vision board for. EXAMPLE: Made by Nanners for Gemme
• Projects are due to me by March 2nd. You have a week grace period but after that, (March 9th) your project is crumpled up and batted around by my cats and you don't get your package of projects that others made you. You also won't be able to participate again for 6 months.
• Include $7 for the wrangler with your project.
• Please, no glitter that is not sealed.

RULES AS AGREED UPON TO BE ADDED AT THE END OF EACH PROJECT:
"For 2019, the rule is if one of our projects is received by the wrangler more than seven days after the due date, or one of us drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until six months from the latest date that the project was supposed to be due.

I was just thinking I should add something here. The only supplies you really need are a piece of card stock or paper or some kind of board that fits within the size limits, magazines to cut pictures and words out of, possibly markers or colors or something like that to put words on, glue, scissors, and a dash of creativity.

Hi all,

I'm going out on a limb here and I'm going to reveal something about myself (something I have never even put in a Post Secret!) If something you read here offends you, just skip it, and I beg your pardon.

I believe in magic and its ethical use.

The making of a vision board seems inherently magical to me, as its creation and use contains all the components of a spell (which I won't go into here - either you know what I'm talking about or you don't - if you're interested, you can PM me.)

My concern: ethics prevent me from working a spell on or for anyone who has not given me explicit permission to do so.

I would like to participate in this project, but it feels to me very much like I need permission to incorporate a little magic (and I'm not sure I could do this project without doing so). If anyone objects to my making them a vision board, please let me know - you can post it here, or you can PM me privately, I won't make your name public - and I will decide whether or not to participate. If you do want me to make you a vision board, I would appreciate hearing from you also, not only because I need your permission, but also because I'm feeling a little vulnerable about putting this out there and honestly I could use some moral support.

Either way, no hard feelings, ok?

Kindest Regards,
Georgia

You are absolutely right. Vision boards work on the law of attraction and many spells and magical events also draw on this principle.

I believe we all need a little magic in our lives. I hope that you do participate and send a little bit my way and I hope to do the same for you!

Nanners is the wrangler of this project.

Hi nanners,

You are both thoughtful and kind to invite me to join but honestly, I do not do well with things like this. Tried something similar couple decades back and became so frustrated. I have no talent for putting activities of this sort together. I would finish a little portion, then tear it up because I felt it was stupid and not good enough. That is the truth.

I do enjoy peeking in. I enjoy everyone's excitment. I would never have passed ART in college had I not had such a crush on the instructor. She was about 15 or so years my senior. I have a thing for some older woman, it is just a certain type and she was it. I flirted with her on the elevator the first night of class ... not knowing she was my ART instructor. It was okay she walked into the ART class ahead of me because I knew I would find a place to sit by her ... but when she walked to the front and introduced herself, I almost had a stroke. Everything worked out okay though. I arranged to be late with projects as an excuse to go by her house. I know, I am a pig! LOL! Well, she invited me! ;)

FSF, what do you mean by "anything to do with lab work"? Thanks.

Things you might find in a science class or lab … glassware, beakers. Visual learning aids – text books, models, parts and pieces, things like that.

SIGN UP IS NOW CLOSED!

vi·sion board
noun
a collage of images and words representing a person's wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation.

1.Nanners: Weight loss, organization of my tiny apartment and downsizing,
traveling, saving money, learning to play my ukulele, inner peace and positive thinking.

2.Clay: Journey into new life with my fiancee, working toward RV & Travel, anything with ocean, dolphins, being a great partner to my fiancee.

3.Butchie's Mabel: Settling into new life journey in Florida

4.Gemme-health, wealth, organization, art/crafts, body image, self-discipline/focus and inner peace/zendom.

5.Lyte: Getting on with … home improvement projects … being more sociable ... taking better care of myself.

6. Georgia Ma'am: health, finances, being kinder to others and to myself

7. nycfem / Jennifer: I would prefer if each of you would pick only one of my themes in dong a vision board for me (you can surprise me with which!). Here are my visions/goals for 2019: (1) accepting and celebrating my fat body (2) learning how to stop being such a people pleaser and care less what others think of me, confidence to say no without concerns for others' reactions (3) go to bed earlier (4) engage in more peaceful activities: baths, petting the cats, naps, arts and crafts, Netflix and chill, reading, etc. (5) find ways to explore my darker side (6) prioritize laughter over everything.

8. CCB: My art and creativity, working on my relationship, working on my magick, working on the professional side of my life, working on loving and accepting myself.

9. FSF: Anything to do with lab work, rebuilding my gem/rock/mineral collection, and learning to do bead work.

This is going to be great. With only nine signing up and the extra days to work on the project this it's going to give me plenty of time to get creative without feeling rushed. Also it looks like I have everything on hand so won't really need to shop for supplies unless I want to. I have an appointment this morning and a few things to pick up at the store after but maybe I can get J to take me to a couple of craft stores afterwards to see if anything jumps out at me. I think sometimes getting out, away from the same old same old helps me think of things that might not have occurred to me otherwise. Then I go home, dig around and see what I've have on hand to pull it all off...Yeah this is going to be fun. :)

Technically 8, Lyte, unless you make one for yourself but I understand how you feel.

I am also excited for this project. It's something we've never done before and who knows....maybe it could spread some positive energy which is always needed.

You know nine isn't a bad idea. Sometimes I find myself getting so caught up in seeing to the wants, wishes - needs of others, I forget about my own. So I think I'm going to make a vision board for myself too. :)

FANTASY CREATURES........OMG. What awesome ones I received yesterday.....(back note...I was out of state for a couple months, so I asked wrangler to hold mine that long for me.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED everyone of them, and you all outdid yourselves. I help each, smiled., read descriptions over & over.......such pure joy & beauty in these. I will cherish them a very long time.

This is one of the many reasons I LOVE this group so much!!

Thanks to all who participated.

No pressure here, just a gentle reminder that the "in Nanner's hands" date is Saturday, March 2nd, with a grace period of one week ending Saturday, March 9th.

How is everyone doing?

I'd like to mention that 3 people have gotten their projects to me, and you 3 absolutely nailed it....I am so impressed with the work that is coming in!!

NYCfem, I believe that this is the best work I have ever seen from you!
Clay, very nice work, I like the back sides too, they are very special.
Butchie's Mabel, you did a wonderful job on your first project with us, and i do hope you'll continue to participate!

CCB...we got a huge stack of magazines, cut words, letters, etc & pics we liked that depicted others' visions, then made sorts of "collages"......Butchie's Mabel did a really great job on hers...she nailed them. We spent about 10 hours over 2 days, perusing pics, cutting, etc...then put them all together.

Good luck, CCB. YOU can do this!!! :)

For me it's been difficultcoming up with pictures. The words were easy, I have all kinds of bits of chopped up word pieces but pictures – what a stymie. Anyhow I think I've finally have enough of both to pull something together here. I'm separating the cut outs into piles now, one for each person, and starting assembly tomorrow.

It sounds like you're good now but if anything pops up that you need, go to Google and put whatever you're looking for in the seatch line followed by images and you'll have all kinds of pictures to print out and use.

I started to get overwhelmed with TOO MANY OPTIONS for representations of each person's vision … narrow... narrow... narrow... down the photo options. And def start marrying pics to persons and/or to whatever they're being attached. :)

That's exactly where I am in this project. I didn't get as far as I wanted today, but I do have separate piles now, and I think I have enough pieces.
