I'm still having a hard time with images. I don't have a printer so I can't print them up. It's like the luck of the draw if I find an appropriate image. My pieces might be more like word art even though it's a "vision" board.

My printer is fine for black and white but not the best for color. I could have went to the library, used one of their computers, copiers, printers but that could get kind of spendy. We got a bit of a break in the weather so I was able to make it to a secondhand store where they sell magazines for 10 cents a piece. Our libraries sell books and magazines pulled from circulation but the one closest was closed due to poor weather. The main library was open but it's a bit hilly to get there, J's car is a 4 cylinder without a lot of oomph. Most people probably have most of their cut outs by now, but for next time if this project or a similar one comes up it's something to think about. Anyhow I have my images cut, sorted, mapped out, and I'm in the sticking them to the background stage part of the process. I'm having a lot of fun with this project. :)

I think it helps to think outside the box. There were some people where I had the same interests as them and found a plethora of items for their vision board, and then there were a few who I struggled with. I had this "aha" moment for one where I realized I didn't need to be so concrete about finding an exact image and instead could think more abstractly while combining images and words.

For those of us who are still plugging away, here are some images of vision boards (https://www.google.com/search?q=vision+board+images&tbm=isch&source=hp&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiS6tajzsvgAhXO-lQKHT5KDmsQsAR6BAgDEAE&biw=1097&bih=537) for inspiration. There are a ton of interpretations for a lot of the same categories so there's plenty of options to go 'round.
One of our participants will not be able to receive her visions.....do you each want your piece made for her, back?
PM nan privately if so, please! Thanks

Just some FYI....she got her projects for all of you in on time, same as mine. So, why would she need to be on 6 months time out?
She just is no longer here, no way to contact her, so no need to make her one, if haven't already

Okay. I misunderstood what you were saying. At the risk of being wrong again, is it Butchie's Mabel that we're talking about? I think everyone else is accounted for.

I'm finishing mine up today and should have them in the mail tomorrow. Now that most of mine are done, stepping back and taking a look, I see they've turned out more like busy collage work than the examples of vision boards I'm seeing online. But I will meet deadline so there's that.

I'm starting to really enjoy the process....now that I'm finishing these suckers up! Ha!
At first, I was a wee bit concerned about the crowding and collaging too but we're dealing with much smaller sizes than what you see on the videos, Google and Pinterest so it's to be expected unless someone uses size 8 font in their quotes and inchie sized pictures. There's just not going to be much room unless someone only uses one piece of text or only one picture but it's good, I think. Besides, some of the themes kind of cross reference one another so that makes it even better.
I've been feeling happier the past few days while I've been working on them so I think the Universe's positivity juju is kicking in (because it's not that they look especially fantastic). I even got a bit verklempt once or twice. Of course, it could be hormonal, but I feel like I'm getting something out of this too so I'm super glad that nan proposed this project.
Didn't now there was a particular direction to go... and yet.. I still managed to go in the opposite direction... non-busy... non-collage. :p

It turned out much more difficult for me too. I think... I'm nearly... almost... possibly … very close to being done. Don't fret... now you've only gotta do seven and you've got a whole nothing week and weekend! lol ;)
I thought I had a nice collection of magazines from which to pull from … nope! Couldn't find squat in any of them … okay, maybe like three pics … so nearly every image came from the internet. Must have been kizmet cuz I was in need of a new printer anyway! :p

I felt this too. I think it's because vision boards are so personal and we're making them for someone else who gave us general categories, which could go in different directions. I have struggled with a couple of them for sure.
Mine will be in the mail tomorrow.

Thank Goodness we have a one week grace period. I really need this weekend to finish up.
And talk about last minute! - I'm going to _have_ to use my printer for this project. There are some pix I want to use and I am just not willing to cut up the magazines. So I ordered some printer ink today - just in time! - for it to get here Saturday. (Yes, I could have gone to Staples, but I hate going in that store, even just for a pick-up.)

Im still really struggling with this project. It's proven extremely difficult to find appropriate pictures for a lot of you with the magazines I have. I don't know how you all are doing it. I'm really afraid of not finishing. I don't own a printer so that's not an option. It's going to be storming tonight so I can't really procure other sources of pictures. Maybe I should have done that.
I have a LOT of stuff cut out, it's just mostly words and it's not coming together. It's like pulling teeth. I'm afraid of having to drop out. But that wouldn't be fair to everyone who put hard work into boards for me already.
Maybe I need a pep talk.

CCB... If ya can't cut n paste then draw, scribble, paint, whatever! The most important thing about a vision board is the vision... not the medium with which it's made. Don't sweat the bits n pieces... focus on the message you want to convey and it'll be smashing! :koolaid:

My confession is that I have compulsively collected collage items from magazines for over 25 years and have them all organized and stored. This is why I excelled at this project. Better that I use them now than die with all these scraps :D. It DID take ages to do, however, because there were so many to go through! BUT it did put me at an advantage!

I love zentangles and twinchies! Do you think a twinchie would be big enough to get some well defined images?

Oh, no no no! Zentangles can be complex, of course, but all it really is is creating a replicating pattern within another image or shape.
For example: draw a crescent moon. divide the moon up into sections or compartments. create a replicating pattern within each compartment.
If you like the adult coloring, you would most likely like this. It's the reverse, basically.
See?

I'm excited about this project and am down with it, clay. I thought about it and remembered that I did a zentangled project previously and I think that was on maybe a 3x3 card. I can't remember exactly but I do remember that it wasn't very big so maybe a twinchie would be good for those who aren't 100% confident with the style....less intimidating....so I retract my previous concern.

Most of the designs need an extra fine tip, keep that in mind. And, let's make it known, you don't have to fill the whole background. That might encourage more to participate.

As for the zentangles, I have my Microns and cardstock and just might start tinkering with them tomorrow. It's a day off with only a few errands so I'll have time to doodle and dawdle during the day.
Clay, could we have the choice to make the ATC size OR twinchie size? Another size would be the round twinchies...just a thought.
I am thinking folks can choose the size they want...
twinchie is a 2' x 2", right?
ATC is 2.5" x 3.5"
rinchies are: 1' rounds, right?
So, will these 3 size choices be amenable to the project? :)

I'm good with these options. I might even switch the sizes up for different people. I now have more errands on my list but will still get around to playing with this today. I love zentangles! It's so relaxing and soothing to do them as most repeating pattern crafty stuff is.
Really great ideas & feedback!!
Here are my thoughts:
1. You can use any or all 3 choices of sizes
a. ATC 2.5 x 3.5
b. twinchie 2" x 2"
c. rinchie...a round 1" shape
2. You can use color OR do a B&W, or mix it up
3. TOTALLY OPTIONAL!!! You have choice to incorporate an animal OR a sun OR a whatever you wish into the piece.
ONLY requirement is to use a zentangle as primary art!
Cardstock should be used for these....:)
4. Bolder markers or crayons won't work with this project....probably microtip or ultra fine markers OR very sharp colored pencils
5. 4 week turn around time.
6. I was thinking if you do a rinchie, maybe make 2 of those for each participant...
OK...anyone please chime in....thoughts, ideas, suggestions, or hugs greatly appreciated!
Let's get our zentangle on....:)

Yay! I'm glad they got there safe and sound.
As for the zentangles, I have my Microns and cardstock and just might start tinkering with them tomorrow. It's a day off with only a few errands so I'll have time to doodle and dawdle during the day.
Another beginner question: Do you draw out your Zentangle with pencil and then go over with ink, or do you just freehand it in ink?
Last time I did a twinchie type thang... the shape was octagon … or pentagon… I've forgotten which. lol So... can we do whatever shape... so long as we keep it within the dimensions listed below?
Can we use other medium … foundation... besides cardstock?
Four weeks seems a little short... since the designing/drawing/coloring/etc is going to be done by hand … and we don't yet know how many will be participating.
Really great ideas & feedback!!

GeorgiaMa’am and CCB, both of yours arrived today!!
I will try to get to the post office before they close on Saturday UNLESS the 8-12 inches of snow comes early.
Clay, I’m fine with the sign up being posted whenever you want. I’m excited about the zentangles! Another “first” for our group I believe.

I would keep your initial 5 week window that you first mentioned but the rest sounds divine.
Another beginner question: Do you draw out your Zentangle with pencil and then go over with ink, or do you just freehand it in ink?
Personally, I've done both. It depends on how serious I am about the end result being super precise. A lot of people do draw out the main shape(s) and then fill in the spaces as they go. I'd do a super quick small one each way and see what works best for you. Or, you can just trace a small stencil if you'd rather. That would be easy.
The zentangley part doesn't have to be super complicated. You can do tiny crosses in one section and circles in another and then parallel lines in the next one, etc. The main things to keep in mind are switching up the designs next to one another so you see the contrast (that's what makes it fun and visually appealing!) and to keep your connections tight (if a line is supposed to go all the way to the end of the page or image, don't let it fall short for example).
This is a really fun type of project because it's fancy doodling and I think most of us do that. :)
Last time I did a twinchie type thang... the shape was octagon … or pentagon… I've forgotten which. lol So... can we do whatever shape... so long as we keep it within the dimensions listed below?

Four weeks seems a little short... since the designing/drawing/coloring/etc is going to be done by hand … and we don't yet know how many will be participating.
Twinchies are a 2 inch by 2 inch square, hence the name Twinchie. Octagon??? lol
You'll want to use a sturdy paper but you can use watercolor paper if it's smooth and doesn't have much of a tooth. You can actually find paper designed for markers, which is great too. The thin stuff bleeds through and if there's too much tooth, it'll make your lines wonky.
I can knock an atc out of the park in about half an hour if I'm being super nitpicky or using a lot of color. They are actually very quick once you get going! One thing I like about zentangles is that even if you have a basic design and don't get fancy with shiny happy stuff, they look phenomenal. In fact, the cleaner and more simple they are, the better they look to me. I'm a sucker for them. :)
If it's four weeks into the Wrangler's hands, then it's more like 3.5 weeks because a few of those days are need for shipping... so more like 24 days.
Don't think there's ever been a minimum number of days rule. No penalty for quicker artists who ship early.
I feel 4 weeks is good. We have an average of about 10 per project...that's 28 days.

Parameters:

a. twinchie.....2"x2"
b. trinchie.....a ROUND shape BUT must measure 2" in diameter...:) I "made" this one up as a one inch just doesn't seem big enough...)
c. ATC......2.5" x 3.5"
The project foundation needs to be done on a sturdy kind of paper OR board OR a zentangle tile ( I just found out they have these at Michael's...thanks, Gemme!)...IE...cardstock.
***** IF you use a heavier foundation, please be sure to consider sending extra fees for return postage for finished projects back to others.
You have creative freedom to choose to do COLOR OR B&W...or a mix & match of both.
It is probably best if we use a very fine felt marker or an extra sharp colored pencil, so as there are sharp, crisp lines...:)
You may have the creative freedom to add some kind of symbol in your Zentangle IF YOU WISH. IE: a sun, an animal, or a tree:)
You can chose to make an assortment of sizes, still only ONE per person UNLESS you choose to do more..:). For example, we have say 10 sign up, I may choose to make 3 of option a., 3 of option b, and 4 of option c....
Have fun, be creative, go outside the box.....:)
• Sign up starts at 9:00 PM Eastern time 03/10/19 (Sunday) and closes at 9:00 PM Eastern on 03/17/19 (Sunday)
Gives us FIVE weeks to get them done & in by!
Projects are due back by 04/21/19 and are officially late if not received by 04/28/19. I will mail them back out within a couple or 3 days after final deadline...:)
Maybe have a limit of 10 for this project?
•
• You must make one Zentangle for each participant.
• On the back of your project please list these things: Project Name, your name, and WHOM it is for UNLESS you want wrangler to assign them.
• Projects are due to me by April 21st. . You have a week grace period but after that, (April 28) your project will become shredded fodder and you don't get your package of projects that others made you. You also won't be able to participate again for 6 months.

RULES AS AGREED UPON TO BE ADDED AT THE END OF EACH PROJECT:
"For 2019, the rule is if one of our projects is received by the wrangler more than seven days after the due date, or one of us drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until six months from the latest date that the project was supposed to be due. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. Wranglers must mail out projects within one week of the latest date that the projects were supposed to be due. In addition to waiting six months before being able to join a penpal project, the person who has not met the latest deadline must post directly on the penpal thread within a week of missing the latest deadline stating that they have not adhered to the deadline (reason is welcome to be included or does not have to be) and, most importantly, the date on which they will be able to return to participating in the penpal projects. They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2018. The reason for this is personal responsibility, so that we have a running record right on the thread that is easy to refer back to when needed. And for the purposes of clarification, if someone drops out before the deadline to sign up has been closed then they are not excluded from future projects because they are still following the rules.
Example: Bitsy misses the late date for a project. Within a week of that late date she must scroll down and find the most recent list of people who have missed the late date in 2018 and copy that list to a new post and add herself. Bitsy's post would look something like this:
'Sorry, I had the bird flu and missed the late date of 2/21/18. I can start participating in new projects on 8/21/18. I have added myself to the list below:
1. Tony (missed the late date of 1/28/18, able to participate 7/28/18)
2. Bitsy (missed the late date of 2/21/18, able to participate 8/21/18)'
This rule must be posted in its entirety at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."
Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that.

We're not on a deadline. If you'd like to wait until the current project goes in the mail and you hear from more people, that's A-Okay.
Naww… this was late 2017 so I don't recall specifically where I got my inspiration.
Well now... I'm curious and a bit confused because you participated in that twinchie project! lol Heck, you provided me with the definition of twinchie... …

Soo... you actually received one of my "wonky little octagons." Guess I should have made them even more wonky so as to make them more memorable. lol SMH

Over the years, many projects have found their way to me in less than stellar shape. It's the chance we take when send it to someone and it's repackaged and sent off again. While you may package your stuff up like Fort Knox, the second mailing can shake things loose sometimes.

I’m such a doofus. I’m going to blame the time change for my non functioning brain this morning. I had all the vision boards packaged up and ready to go, all in a bag to carry into the post office...and I drove to work which means paying for parking in downtown Minneapolis so I could hit the post office on my lunch break. Perfect, right?
Not so much when you forget the darn bag and realize it halfway to work with no time to go back to get it. Arghhh! Sorry, they’ll now be in mail BEFORE work tomorrow morning.

Anyone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think once you put a realistic object in your zentangle, it becomes "zentangle inspired art", a phrase you can search on for lots of examples. It's my understanding that yes, we can do this, according to Clay's instructions.

I'm having trouble identifying the best paper for zentagles. I ordered some Strathmore 400 series paper with a fine finish zentangle tiles, but they are thin, like heavy paper, and have a rougher surface than I would like. I have a few of the official Zentangle tiles, but they have a rougher surface. Has anyone tried doing Zentangle or work with micron pens on vellum? I found some 24# and some 67# vellum that I can cut into twinchies. Also, I can't find any twinchie tiles, of any kind, on Amazon. It seems like the last time I did twinchies, I ordered them from Amazon. I just can't identify the right search terms.
Can anyone help with suggestions, web sites, search terms?

I think that would be super fun, Georgia! I don't see why vellum would present an issue for you. It may be a little slick, but I think it could work. You could also specifically look for hot pressed paper as it naturally has less tooth to it.

I am usuing Bristol paper for mine but it only comes in ATC size, not twinchie. It would kind of be a waste of paper cutting it down but it's SUPER smooth. I did my first zentangle last night with a black Sakura gel pen and the combination worked beautifully.
ETA: I think vellum with a micron would work out well.

Hey Georgia....Etsy has the Twinchie Tiles (which was what I put in my search engine) for $7/10 and free shipping.
I think the vellum will work for your project tiles.
I ordered 75 zentangle tiles that are $5.39 and are the Bristol tiles. I like them thus far.
I have all my ideas , just waiting for markers to arrive...:)..then zentangle here I come..:)

Hey, Georgia! I just found Strathmore Vellum ATC paper on amazon!!!
It's less than $5 for 20 sheets. I also found it on Blick for about half that. Maybe this could work too?

If the list remains how it stands now, I have finished my zentangles. I'm determined not to be late again. :|

WOW! Good job, CCB!
Sometimes, when we have a longer timeline, it's a challenge for me to NOT procrastinate, thinking oh I have time, then time slips up on me. I will have mine done & ready to go out next week, also!
Excited to see what yours came out like....I know they will be awesome!!

I seem to either run to one extreme or the other--I either have my projects done way early or I am scrambling at the last minute. If I let myself procrastinate I will.

Haven't opened my boards package yet. I'm sure they're all wonderful. I'm just a lil a lil too pissed right now to appreciate them.
DO NOT BEND.... does not mean shit to USPS here in Texas. They are too lazy to get out if their Jeep to put anything on the porch unless it's impossible .... physically impossible... and they've tried repeatedly.... to shove or bend or fold the item into the mailbox.

Vision board reactions:
1) Lyte- omg, you took things to the Next Level! Wow, gonna hang this in our bathroom! The pirate quote is outta this world! One note if you do this style again (which I love!!!)- don't wrap in tissue paper- some of it dried/glued itself onto it, though I've been able to scrape the majority of it off with the end of a scissors, thankfully! Thanks again, I will treasure it! It is truly exceptional. And how did you know I like quirky quotes? That pirate- can't say enough :pirate-steer:. Your work looks very professional!
2) Nanners- loved that it had my name on it! Love all the laughing faces! Love the pastel color scheme. Very uplifting!
3) CCB - Thank goodness you chose "explore my dark side"- I was dearly hoping that would be the case! Loved "no more basic" and "how she turned" - very nice work!
4) Gemme- Love the fat woman standing on her head- yaaaasss! Very inspiring and meaningful quotes. Great collaging. Thank you! I will be reading the quotes a lot this year! There are some real gems!
5) Georgiama'am- the beehive <3 !!! Loved the bath scene! Thanks so much!
6) Clay- Wow, that background is gorgeous! The colors are just stunning. Please post how you achieved that! I love a rainbow of colors! Love that you chose the fat body theme- meant a lot to me! Loved the main woman you chose too- super cool. Also, I always appreciate your writing to me on the back. Lovbe you more!
So, yeah, there was not one that I didn't love! I feel very inspired for 2019 and thank you all!
Well hell.... :( So thought it was FULLY fully dry. Maybe a very slightly damp cloth? Hope no one's irrevocably spoiled. :(

My fave quotes from Gemme's that she made me:
"You were born with everything you need. You're not missing anything."
"You are not your thoughts. You are the calm awareness behind the noise in your mind."
"Your beliefs can be modified to lift you up. You are fully in control of your happiness."
"The past and the future don't exist anywhere except in your mind. Now is the only real moment."
"Your calling in life is to express who you already are. Unapologetically shine your light."

Oh and... thank you for letting me know! I am in fact making two more of the same style.

nyc.....that is the cold pressed water color paper....I sprayed the sheet with water, let it dry.
Then I mixed watercolors with water, painted the colors onto the watercolor paper.
I let that dry. then I spray with a mist of water again...and let it "run" a bit. While still damp I occasionally use salt crystals to sprinkle on it, let it dry & "melt" then hand rub the residue off...:).
I am so happy you love it! Enjoy. And I lovbe you more...:)

ZENTANGLES....
What is Zentangle?
Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being.
Let's Draw - 001: How to Draw Zentangles (Doodle Art) - YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ske2jBRBEB8
Parameters:
• Can be any of OR a combination of these 3 sizes....
a. twinchie.....2"x2"
b. trinchie.....a ROUND shape BUT must measure 2" in diameter... I "made" this one up as a one inch just doesn't seem big enough...)
It is probably best if we use a very fine felt marker or an extra sharp colored pencil, so as there are sharp, crisp lines...
You may have the creative freedom to add some kind of symbol in your Zentangle IF YOU WISH. IE: a sun, an animal, or a tree
You can chose to make an assortment of sizes, still only ONE per person UNLESS you choose to do more... For example, we have say 10 sign up, I may choose to make 3 of option a., 3 of option b, and 3 of option c....
Have fun, be creative, go outside the box.....
• Sign up starts at 9:00 PM Eastern time 03/09/19 (Saturday) and closes at 9:00 PM Eastern on 03/16/19 (Saturday) SIGNUPS NOW CLOSED!
Gives us SIX weeks to get them done & in by!
Project participant limit of 10, please!! Thanks!
Projects are due back by 04/21/19 and are officially late if not received by 04/28/19. I will mail them back out within a couple or 3 days after final deadline...
• Include $7 for the wrangler with your project.
• Please, no glitter that is not sealed.
~ Please, nothing from a smoking home, as several are sensitive to smoke! Thank you!

They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018 & 2019. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2019.
1. Tony (missed the late date of 1/28/19, able to participate 7/28/19)
2. Bitsy (missed the late date of 2/21/19, able to participate 8/21/19)'
This rule must be posted in its entirety at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."
Please if you are currently timed out put yourself on the list and the dates of your time out because I am not responsible for doing that.
My address has changed since most of you wrangled. So just PM me, and I will send it to you....and add yours to the PM as my address book is packed up, as I have most of yours anyway...:) Thanks.

Lyte, can you post your process? Cuz I want to do it too- it looks so perfect!
Here you go... I'm giving ya the shorter version to save you (and anyone else) some reading, I can be a tad verbose doncha know. :p Please feel free to ask questions you like.
A preface ... the final pieces were the result of my sensing that I wasn't going to be able to (easily) make a traditional vision board. The stack of magazines I had wasn't giving me anything to work with so I decided to go to the internet. The internet route meant I'd have to LOCATE and PRINT a bunch of images/quotes... aka visions... and I quickly realized that was going to be quite a task too. So, I decided I'd focus on one topic per person and then select visions that spoke directly to each topic. Then I realized... :p …. that since I was going with a lot fewer visions... the visions I would be using should at least POP somehow ... so I elected to wrap them around wood pieces... which would giving them a bit of a 3D effect. And then … I finally realized... that since the visions were now going to be on wood... I'd now have to use a much sturdier board to hold up these heavier visions. lol :seeingstars:
As to the construction...
The boards I used were these below... got them at Michael's. They come in a wide variety of sizes. Hoping to add to the POP of the visions, I painted the boards black using standard house paint in satin.
https://i.imgur.com/2hGdTBe.jpg?1
Before deciding on wood pieces, I was going to use cardboard but I couldn't cut nice crisp shapes. The wood pieces can be found in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, widths, etc... on EBay and Amazon. Michael's too has a few plain pieces but they're so much cheaper on Ebay/Amazon.
https://i.imgur.com/ZbMIamH.jpg?1
Attaching visions (paper) to wood... again, I was going to use cardboard but found that PODGE on paper and on cardboard was asking for wrinkles and ripples. It's not impossible but it proved to be more of a hassle than the cost of the boards and/or the wood pieces.
Since joining this crafty group, I've learned that all PODGEs are not the same. lol I used the one below (SATIN) as the glue to attach the visions to the wood The SATIN MODGE seems to have a lower water content and so adhesion is much smoother.
Press the paper down (gently) onto the wood ... all over the image... even along the edges of the wood. You trying to get the paper to adhere to every CM of the wood. If you don't, it will peel or roll up... along the edges.
https://i.imgur.com/NKn4gKa.jpg?1
After the piece dried I'd cut the paper to size around the wood and then cut the corners off so the sides would easily fold over, around the wood and could be glued down. … still using the SATIN MODGE.
https://i.imgur.com/PTxDbo1.png?1
Example...
https://i.imgur.com/21BhejG.jpg?2
Oh... almost forgot... I highly recommend getting wood pieces who's corners come to a point. Some I purchased (see pic above) had rounded edges and you can't use this "cut the corners" technique so finishing off rounded corners is much more involved. :seeingstars: If anyone really wants to know how to finish off ones with rounded corners, lemme know.
Once the paper is glued on and around the wood and you've cut the corner, I continue to use the SATIN MODGE as the first layer over the vision/paper because of the lower water content which continues to keep the paper from rippling. It's unlikely to ripple anyway... if it's glued down firmly … but I didn't want to take a chance. Once the first layer was dry... I wanted they shinier … more POP against the black satin boards... I went back over them with the glossy GLOSSY MODGE.
https://i.imgur.com/ElbBraZ.jpg?1
The whole covering up of the wood pieces with visions process above was the most technical and involved part of the the entire build. Once I finally figured out which images to use and got them onto the wood, then it was just a matter of arranging them prettily :p on each of the boards.

Let me know if y'all have any questions. ;)
P.S. I learned recently that the hanging thingie I included aren't enough to hold the boards up. Bummer! :glasses:
P.S.S. Those who chose INNER PEACE, yes, your boards are similar, not 100% the same. Some of the quotes were too perfect or too cool not to use more than once. ;)

clay, zentangles are in the mail. You should have them Friday!!
GOOD job, CCB! I will be looking for them! I have worked on mine all day today, and am almost done with mine also!! :)
I LOVE this project! LOTS of tiny work, for me....:seeingstars:
LYTE! That was very labor intensive, BUT OMG, are these ever gorgeous. I LOVE mine so much!
As for the hangers, you need two of the strips just to use on one side...you have to press 2 pieces together til it cliks...so once you use 2 of the 3 strips, you only have one hanger...:)....but it is all good! I will make a hanger for mine...:)
Ya know... I think it was less labor intensive for me... in my mind ... freak that I am... :p … because the thought of having to hunt through a zillion magazines … looking for zillion images/quotes/whatever... and then gluing them all down … seemed WAY more labor intensive to me!! :seeingstars: lol

Thank you! I was just so paranoid about being down to the wire again I went in the opposite direction. It's either or for me! I'm super glad I joined in though and happy about how mine came out.

So, anyone that is really enjoying the zentangles and wants to progress with it, there are seminars for certified Zentangle trainers. For a *cough cough* reasonable price between $1700-2400 for a 4 day seminar, you can become certified to teach and train the Zentangle way!
I was pretty interested in it until I got to the bottom line. The seminars are even super close to me. Bummer.
I "made" this one up as a one inch just doesn't seem big enough...)
• Include $7 for the wrangler with your project.
• Please, no glitter that is not sealed.

They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018 & 2019. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2019.

LYTE, wow, that was awesome how you explained everything, love the idea of the Satin followed by the glossy. How did you glue the wood onto the canvas? One of the panels on the one you did for me fell off, but, of course, was easy to glue back on. The photos you posted in your tutorial were so helpful. Really awesome work!

I got _Zentangle Basics, Expanded Workbook Edition: A Creative Art Form Where All You Need is Paper, Pencil, & Pen (Design Originals) 25 Original Tangles, Beginner-Friendly Practice Exercises, & Techniques_ by McNeill CZT, Suzanne.
It has some pages for inspiration, but mostly it shows 25 patterns with step-outs, and gives you spaces to practice. It also shows variations on some of the 25 designs, so it's really more than 25 patterns. There is also a section that goes into shading. It was well worth the $8 it cost me from Amazon.

I made a collage for a project at work. On one side was a photo, and the other was non-flat mixed media: gold flakes, gears, pressed flowers, glitter, etc. I used the Satin Modge Podge recommended by Lyte because I really liked how it came out on Lyte's project. It did look good on the flat photo but was "meh" on the non-flat mixed media side of my collage. Probably that side of my collage I should have used a spray. I needed to seal the objects and glitter on top but the Satin tamped them down and took away their shine and 3-day effect. It was still nice but could have been better- the side that was mixed media - nonflat. What do you all think of my idea to use a spray for next time, unless it's a simple flat paper clipping or photo? I felt like the Satin not only impeded the 3-day-ness of it but also took away the shine of the glitter and gold flakes and such.

Adding: for the collage, I used a sticky board (so fun), but I do need to find a way in the future to seal over the design without taking away it's sparkle and 3-day effect. Spray maybe?

Oh how fun, this project sounds. There is a shinier version (gloss) of ModPodge, so I would say try that for the part of it you want to have the shininess & 3 day effect look to it.
Did you take a pic of it? :). Curious (as hell) here...:).
BTW I lovbe you more...:)

There is a gloss urethane spray sold (for large $) in craft stores, and far less at good ole Wally's World...:)

I made ten of them, one for each of my colleages, and I think they really liked them. They came out really special even though they could have had better sealing on the wild side of it. This group has given me good practice for mass producing individualized projects! OMG, people were floored :D

I've often wished that after the projects are all sent out that, photos could be shared of everyone's work... particularly when each piece is unique to each participant. Naturally, I get to see what was created for me but I'm still very curious to see what was created for everyone else! I've learned so much about craftiness from this group! :)
Thanks, I have a crystal clear acrylic spray that I think I could try (since I already have it). I sooooo should have taken a photo of them. I made ten of them, one for each of my colleages, and I think they really liked them. They came out really special even though they could have had better sealing on the wild side of it. This group has given me good practice for mass producing individualized projects! OMG, people were floored :D

Not everyone cares to share, But if someone wants to share a picture of their own work, that is certainly fine!

Of course, I wasn't thinking it ought to be a mandatory thing. Iol More of an "FYI" that if there are those who wish to share then ... FYI, there are those who would appreciate their sharing. Se moi! ;)

Adding: for the collage, I used a sticky board (so fun), but I do need to find a way in the future to seal over the design without taking away it's sparkle and 3-day effect. Spray maybe?
I would seal as you go with whatever you choose and then use a spray as the final sealant. You can pick and choose along the process whether you use gloss or matte finishes and that could help you with the 3D effect you are trying to achieve. I bet it still looks super cute!

This is a really good idea, Gemme.
I would seal as you go with whatever you choose and then use a spray as the final sealant.
It was the gold flakes that really lost their sparkle and texture under the mod podge. But I didn't want gold flakes falling on people, so I guess that's the part that would have benefited from being sprayed instead of sealed with goop.
I "made" this one up as a one inch just doesn't seem big enough...)
• Include $7 for the wrangler with your project.
• Please, no glitter that is not sealed.
~ Please, nothing from a smoking home, as several are sensitive to smoke! Thank you!

They must scroll back and add themselves to the bottom of the list of any other participants who have not met the late date for any project for 2018 & 2019. If that is not done, then the member is welcome to participate in the thread with "thanks" and reps and thread chat but not to participate in any future projects for 2019.
Friendly reminder.....:)....We have 17 days left (this includes the grace week!)....since the 28th is a Sunday, I must get them by Saturday evening...April 27th!

Mine are packaged up and will be in the mail tomorrow. I do enjoy Zentangles but if we do them again, I'm putting a request for a larger size option in now. My eyes aren't what they used to be (not that they were ever great..I've had glasses since I was 14 months old) and this project has been a special form of Hell for me. Fun, but Hell.

Mine are done! They'll be in the mail tomorrow or Saturday. Just for the record I would like to do these again (but not right away) in a larger size too, and I would request the "official" Zentangle size of 3.5 x 3.5". Tiles seem to be readily available in that size and 6 x 6".

That's what I was thinking...the original size as most of the instructional videos and books use that size so it's easier to get the same-ish results.
But yes, after a little while. It's good to mix things up!

Just to pop in and give my two cents. I'd also be interested in doing another zentagles project at a bigger size. That's why I chose ATC over twinchie. I just felt too cramped. I'm interested to see how they turned out, though. From everyone whose eyeballs are bleeding.

I did small but it was weird. I had to keep trying to do what I wanted and starting over. It kept seeming like I could do the simple pattern I wanted, and then it kept coming out not like it was in my mind, so I'd have to try again! Perhaps the small size might have been the issue. I did eventually get to a place I was happy with.
I mailed mine today. I had a scary experience at the post office. I put my priority mail envelope in the big "Jaws of Life" metal package holder/door, and then I did the thing where you open it back up to make sure it has gone through- and instead of having gone through, it had slipped between a very thin opening between the metal sides of the bin- such that it was trapped, half-way in and half-way out. It was tightly half way in / half way out, and I had to rip the envelope and LUCKILY I was able to get all of the Zentangles out- BARELY! I also was able to get the purchase sticker to redo! I went and told the post office employees, but of course they didn't apologize or seem to care. There was something broken that made that space where the envelope got caught and wedged in. It was so scary when I realized I couldn't pull it out! But... all's well that ends well. Still... that was a first, and hopefully a last. A worst fear coming true!
Well, I rambled but I'm sure as my fellow pen friends, you get it.

Our post office has just went all to hell in a handbasket. We have those drive by drop off bins too and when there's a problem the people inside just don't know what the hell you're talking about. They act like - This can't be about us because those drop off boxes out there, not our bad. They're part of some another universe. I've never once had any postal worker, concerning those bins say - Hmm let me check that for you. Or even - Thanks for letting us know I'll put in a service request. Growing up two of my father's friends as well as a great uncle of mine were postal carriers and as far as customer service is concerned, IMO it's all been going downhill ever since. The only good news about the passage of time, at least that friend of my mother's who worked there either finally retired or croaked. She was horrid and a little mentally unstable I think. I mean she cried when they told her she couldn't live above the post office. Yeah because that's what they're going to do at the post office, build you a crow's nest.

Any thoughts?
I bought this piece of costume jewelry, heavy silver but rusted. I colored it with a silver paint marker- and wow, it looked perfect. But silver paint markers rub off, so I had to seal it with something. I sealed it with satin mod podge. However, that caused it to show the rust again. I wonder for the future (not for this specific piece) what I should have done? I loved the look of the silver paint marker. However, what to seal it with? Maybe clear silver glitter nail polish? Any other thoughts?

I'd try a spray sealant like Alchemy Jewelry Sealer. Nail polish would likely break down the marker and make it show the rust again.
I actually HATE Mod Podge and think it causes more problems than solutions and use it only for one special technique, otherwise I find spray sealants appropriate to the job are preferred. But that's just my opinion.

I hope it's okay to pop in and ask for advice, tonight. I'm trying to come up with ways to make my room dividers take on the ambiance of stained glass windows and I think I might have found a solution, but I need a titch of advice.
I was given flags of two types of colors, lots of flags. And because the flag material is light and brightly colored, I thought what I could do is cut the material of the flags into pieces that fit into each section of the room dividers, yet leave certain sections un-colored, so it takes on the effect of stained glass windows. Or, in some certain sections, I could combine the two colored so it looks like a shade of deep violet type purple, to add more depth to the stained glass window effect, as the brilliant sunshine filters through the room dividers.
My question centers around the type of glue I should use to attach to each section of each square in the room dividers. Will fabric glue be strong enough over time, to hold the material in place? Or should I get a certain type of glue to use to adhere the material to the material that is already part of the room dividers???
My goal is to attach the pre-cut pieces of flag material to each section, just around the perimeter of each square-like section, so the material lays naturally, and not damaged by the method of attachment.
So I thought I'd ask crafter's in our online group of pen pal/crafter's to see what kind of recommendations or ideas you have, that might work for my crafting project.
Thanks in advance for any helpful ideas you might have! :bunchflowers::bunchflowers::bunchflowers:

Katzchen, we miss you in this thread! Good to hear from you! Hope you'll join a project again when you are all settled.
Gemme, I am intrigued by these art auctions. How do we find them on Facebook?
To be honest, I stumbled across it as one of my online friends was connected to it and it popped up on my feed, so I can't say for certain. Maybe a search?

Hi ☺️ I’ve often thought of writing women who are incarcerated. Sometimes I just feel bad for women from our community who are imprisoned. Perhaps I would share photos of me, like a pen pal sort of thing. I would love to do something like this if anyone knows who I could write or reach out to?

Here's a link for LGBT pen pals in prison:

Reading more about Black and Pink and saw this from an article cited on wikipedia:
"Black and Pink is an open family of LGBT prisoners and free world allies who support each other. The pen-pal project is an opportunity for people on the outside to correspond, build relationships with, and help take part in harm reduction practices with the 3,000 queer and trans folks who are part of our incarcerated family. The letters themselves function as a harm reduction tool. When people's names are read out from the mail room, prison guards and other prisoners can hear individuals’ names, so everyone else knows that this person has some element of support on the outside. If they were to harass them, sexually assault them, or abuse them by preventing them from getting their hormones or HIV medications, they know there’s going to be consequences and we will fight for these people."
Powerful stuff.

I don't know if the Prisoner Correspondence Project based out of Canada is still running strong but their website remains up. It contains some pretty good information, things to consider when thinking about writing to someone who is incarcerated. https://prisonercorrespondenceproject.com/
Eager to hear what our next venture will be....and who will wrangler it....:)

OMG! OMG! OMG! They are doing a segment on Sunday morning on CBS about post secrets! I know when you see this it will be over, but you can usually find segments online from the show. It’s really pretty cool! CBS on Sunday morning also has a Facebook page...I have liked and followed that page, and I see the segments are posted on Facebook too.

Anyway, your deliciousnesses will be in your hands by Monday, according to the P.O.

No biggie. As long as there is tracking, we can pinpoint where it might go off the rails. I had a letter I sent to CO that found its way to Puerto Rico. Stuff happens and all will be forgiven as long as it gets here eventually.

Thank you. I'm sure it will be even later with the weather, I'm dealing with! I'm not going out into the knee high waters anytime soon.
However, I'm glad those who got them are smiling with their Zentangle's. I'm loving the feedback I've gotten.
