I did and they are GORGEOUS!!! Everyone did an amazing job. I love them to pieces.
I have to give extra props to clay. Mine could not have been more perfect for me. I love it.
I showed my ATCs to Tierney and we started to formulate our plans of creation. There's a lot of work to be done between now and the 21st.
Carry on.

Now I want my day to be over, so I can go check the mail!
So Clay wants to do another ATC swap-- would folks be interested in doing another? I know there is a swap currently in play-- so I'll wait till it's over. But I just wanted to throw it out there.
I was thinking about an Halloween theme!! Whatcha think?

I'm not sure. Too early to say and I might be in the mood for more variety at that point.
Definitely bring it up after Besame gets the mosaic project out!

I, too, got my ATCs in the mail today and think everyone did a fabulous job!!! Thank you all for your creations.
I absolutely agree that "variety IS the spice of life". While I did enjoy the ATC project, and would like to do some more in the future, I am on board with finishing current project, having a breather, and then seeing what is out there we all want to do. I love we have so many folks who have wrangled and will do so, just as much as I love the variety of projects we have done to date. Those altoid tins project, which I didn't get to do, sounded like so much fun. There was also a project where dolls were used, that were so fun. We have such a great group of crafters & wranglers!!!
Well, I'm finally wading in with my gratitude for receiving the recipe project. I am absolutely delighted with the uniqueness of cover pages and the delicious looking recipes. The first recipe I'll be trying is the shrimp dip from Besame.
I would also like to apolgize to the group and especially thank Besame for helping out with my misread on the cover dimensions. In future it will pay to actually print off the directions rather than reading the info on my phone!
I do so much love participating but will just keep it to once a year for now although I will live vicariously in projects over the coming year!

It is with a sad heart that I am going to have to bow out of the Mosaic Project. I have already been in PM with Besame and she asked me to just let everyone know that you now only have to make 6.
Also, I am aware of the rule, that I can not participate in a project again until 2016. God knows with the money I spent on this - I will have enough stuff to do one next year.
My apologies to all participants.
Always,

Good project, Besame. It was really nice to do something completely different.

I am sorry to say my projects will go out Monday. I thought I could complete them before the post office closed today. They are 3/4th done.
In my own defense, I was off work a week with a back injury, had to go in to work on days off and our new CEO is restructuring our entire agency and we were told if we wanted to put in for one of the new positions we had to have our resumes and cover letter in by Friday 8/20. The fact that they have my resume on file plus 11 years worth of evals seems to have escaped them.
So again, I am sorry.

Hey, Deb, welcome back! Just wanted to alert you to our new rule:
"For 2015, the rule is if one of us is more than a week late or drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until January 1st, 2016. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."
PS I kinda prefer to post this paragraph for people than to have it be a drop-down because then we have to get past it every time we want to check the thread which is sometimes a lot! I go through that in the Daddy-Girl thread and it drives me nuts, even though I know on that thread the drop-down message is there for very important reasons.

I had fun on the mosaic project but I went about it the wrong way. The next time a project like this comes around, I'll have a better plan and hopefully, a little more time so I can do better quality pieces. I don't think we should do projects with less than a month's window of work time if at all possible. For me, it's too rushed. Mainly because I don't have regular days off to devote to the projects but also because I like more time to go back and forth before delving into my work. :)
I'd love to try something we haven't done before or at least something we haven't done in ages and I'd love to give everyone a shot to put their hat in the ring if they are interested, so maybe let's give it a few days for people to give their input before tackling a project? I've got something percolating but it's not ready to share yet.
Can't wait for the projects to get here!

Besame's mosaic project is finding its way to our greedy little hands and I'm sure some folks are ready to begin another project. It's been a while since I wrangled and I do have some ideas that I think are lovely and engaging but I'd like the process to be more democratic than it's been previously.
If there's anyone else that has successfully participated in at least 2 rounds of projects or hasn't wrangled the past 2-3 projects and has an idea, please let us know. I'll give until Sunday around 10am EST to post your interest and then we'll go from there. If no one else wants to wrangle the next project, then I'd love to do it and will post the options that the participants can choose from.
Does that sound fair to everyone?

No other eligible hats in the ring? Okay. So I thought it would be fun to do things a bit different and give future participants more power in the project process. I'll make a few suggestions and give some time for folks to think about it and see which project they would like to do now.
If there's interest in the other projects that are not chosen now, in a couple of rounds when I'm eligible to wrangle again, we can do one of those. I would ask that future wranglers not 'take' the ideas that I put up today. There's a sense of ownership when we put our ideas out there and that would not feel good to have someone run with my idea. Fair?
That said, and running the risk of sounding hypocritical, I'd like to present 3 options to you....kind of like the ghosts of Christmas past and all that...seeing as how these are recycled ideas from the past that I really had fun with and are definitely on my Top 5 Favorite Projects of All Time List. <--capital letters!
I will just give you the gist of things today and all of the specific details, dates and rules when the preferred project is chosen.
Option 1: Triptych (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych)
amiyesiam wrangled an epic project years ago and I would not even attempt to duplicate that project, but I would like to draw from the base idea of triptychs. In her project, we had a pattern and materials to work with. If the triptych project is chosen, I would give you free reign on the pattern and subject matter.
What I want is a triptych....however you see it. If you see it in a panel design, fine. If you see it in an attached, hinged cathedral design, fine. As long as you stay within the size parameters, I'm good.
Here's some examples (https://www.google.com/search?q=triptych+art&biw=1024&bih=743&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CE4QsARqFQoTCOSArs_mhcgCFYMaHgodzDMMiA).
Option 2: Postsecret (http://postsecret.com/)
nycfem has wrangled this project twice (I think) and I love it because it allows your creative juices to really flow in interesting directions. It's a project that fits all craft levels and designs and doesn't require a lot of expensive materials.
And this is Suicide Prevention Month. Very important!
Here are some examples (https://www.google.com/search?q=triptych+art&biw=1024&bih=743&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CE4QsARqFQoTCOSArs_mhcgCFYMaHgodzDMMiA#tbm=is ch&q=postsecret).
Option 3: Shrines (https://www.pinterest.com/clsse/art-shrines/)
CCB did the mini shrines and I know some folks wanted to participate but didn't sign up in time and there were only a few slots available. There's a reason for that. The shrines are 3D and require more materials, more time and more thought than the average project. If this is chosen, I would allow all who wish to participate but please understand that that will entail a LOT of work so I would extend the due date out to accommodate the specific number of people who sign up.
I had to grin because a lot of the images that come up are not only shrines but triptychs too. :)
Here are some more examples of shrines (https://www.google.com/search?q=shrine+art+images&biw=1024&bih=743&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CBwQsARqFQoTCK_t-_nohcgCFcWaHgod7OAGeQ).
And some more examples (https://www.google.com/search?q=shrine+art+images&biw=1024&bih=743&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0CBwQsARqFQoTCK_t-_nohcgCFcWaHgod7OAGeQ#tbm=isch&q=shrine+crafts).
Before you choose, please be aware that these would NOT be mini shrines. I want to do large shrines. You can find the boxes for them at your local kitchen supply store or Walmart or hardware store. They are less than a dollar a piece at my local Walmart and are in the kitchen tools and utensils section. The 250 count large kitchen match box. They are about 2.5 x 4.5 inches.
Think everything over....the time requirement, materials needed, your time and stress level, etc and cast your vote. The deadlines for these projects will be directly related to how many people sign up and how difficult the project is. Obviously, the Postsecret would be the shortest and the Shrines would be the longest time intensive project.
Details such as themes, size parameters, et cetera will be discussed when a project is chosen as they would be different for each one. So if you know some folks that only come on here once in a blue moon, give them a head's up because the votes will be calculated on Wednesday night.
You can put your vote here in the thread, pm me or rep me. If you rep your vote to me, I will notify you that I received it. Sometimes reps can go by fast, so if you haven't received some sort of notification within 24 hours of sending it, I did not receive it.
Really think about the projects and what you want and are able to do. I want this to be a fun project, not one more stressed deadline for anyone.
Thank you, Gemme !
I find the rules to be just & fair.
All of these sound amazing!!!
I am leaning towards either the triptycht one OR the postsecrets one. The shrines are amazing but since that was a recent project, I am opting for the triptych one or the postsecrets one myself.
With that said, I am a team player, and will be happy to do what the majority wants to do....I just wants to be crafting...:)
Eagerly awaiting more input...so we can get the project going....."bouncing around in my seat with a big ol' cheesy grin" clay.....

Just a note that if people want to do a Christmas (combined with Hanukah, Kwanza, etc.) card exchange please start a separate thread. But all other holidays we do here (st. Patrics, halloween, thanksgiving, easter, etc.). Or I should say we do them if someone feels like wrangling them. The Christmas card exchange is such a big project that we don't want it to take over the space here, and it also involves some people who really only do the X-mas card exchange. Thanks.
Thank you for the clarity on the Christmas Card Exchange. I agree wholeheartedly a separate thread....guess my excitement precedes me at times.....Imma bad :mohawk: sometimes.....hehe

What I want is a triptych....however you see it. The theme is up to you. Let your imagination loose! Positive emotional connection please, no sadness or anger allowed.
Please do not create pieces larger than 5x7. It can be one single piece with 3 panels or carved panels that are hinged together or a unique design to you. As long as it's one piece and it makes you happy.
There is no restriction on materials. Photos are fine as long as they are happy and meet the size parameter. If you go glitter crazy, please warn me/the recipient.
Make sure to clearly note which work is yours on each piece. You can write it on the back or put the pieces in a baggie and write it on the baggie. Whatever works as long as we know without a doubt who did what. I like what we've been doing with noting the artist, the date and the project on the pieces. That's a nice touch that I'd like to continue.
The deadline to sign up is September 29th @ 8am EST.

I have a question...
"Please do not make pieces bigger than 5x7."
Ok, so if I make hinged panels, each piece can be 5x7, folded up they would fit into the size requirements...OR...when 3 pieces are hinged open, they are 5x7.???

im hoping that each piece no more than 5x7 for a total folded up of 5x7.. otherwise it almost makes it too small

If you do a hinged piece, then the folded piece should fit in the size parameter. I'm only concerned about the size of the pieces as they are going through the mail and I was thinking that hinged pieces would be mailed folded.
Does that make things a bit more clear?

Please see the details above and if you have any questions, don't be shy about it. Someone else might have the same question.

This project has been about giving the participants as much power as possible throughout the process. Why stop now?

You can do this... Just look at the ideas out there and pick a direction.. Then pick the topic.. It is very normal to be over whelmed, I've done a few of these and I still have a moment where I wonder what I was thinking, it's all good. You can do this, we are all our own Picasso, in our own way. Just have to put the you in your project and you will have success.. I promise.

Excellent! We all have different crafting levels and some are more fun and loosey goosey and some are more structured and very Mahhhtha Stewart and some fall in between. Don't worry about perfection; just try to enjoy the process of it all and I'm sure your work will be beautiful.

The sign up is officially closed.
These are our Triptych Project Participants:
1. Gemme
2. clay.........
3. nycfem
4. Cara
5. Breathless
6. Surferboi
7. CCB
8. ahk
9. AMI
10. Besame
11. Sweetcheeks
You will make 10 triptych pieces, unless you'd like to receive one back for yourself and in that case, you'd make 11.
Please see the details above and if you have any questions, don't be shy about it. Someone else might have the same question.
I will make one change to our standard procedure. I will give you all the option of how you want your projects mailed back to you. If you are fine with a padded manila envelope, then send $5.00 for postage and repackaging. If you would like a boxed package, please send $7.00.
This project has been about giving the participants as much power as possible throughout the process. Why stop now?
One...two...three...CREATE!!!!
I can't wait to see what you all come up with!
Please remember that you have two options for your returned packages. Send me $5 if you want your goodies returned to you in a padded manila envelope and enclose $7 if you want them returned in a small box.
My expected date of delivery was October 30th, something about it going to the east coast from California. But I am hopeful it arrives earlier.
That's fine. :)
I glittered!!!! :) Two triptychs do not have glitter so clay's butch allergies can receive one of those lol. I will let the projects dry overnight, then bag them and mail them tomorrow. I will confirm when I have done so.
I knew you could do it!
brat!!!!!
Do I "see" a rainbow glitter covered clay in my future....ahhhhchhhhooooooo...:hangloose:
You can take something for that, you know. :mohawk:

I cut all the ribbons and tied them up in a box, sending some fun stuff on their way to Gemme's. That was great fun! Thank you for a fun project :)
Went out yesterday, should arrive in 2-3 days.
You can, but it's not a requirement. As long as your postmark is on the 28th, you're fine.
It's easier for me to send Fed Ex because they pick up in our building and I don't have time to get to the downtown post office during my 30 minute lunch break. Blah blah blah. All that to say I've got the envelope ready to ship today, and it is due to arrive by 4:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 2nd. ☺️
This was fun! It took me FOREVER to figure out what to do. Hopefully they are to everyone's liking. 🎨
:stillheart:
Cara
I just re-read the project guidelines and realize now that I sent 9 projects and not 10! Grumble. I will put one more together tonight and send it via post tomorrow. It'll probably arrive before my Fed Ex package arrives on Monday with a little luck. 🍀

Yeah they were pretty sad this week. Sometimes they are more on the side of light and funny yet thoughtful. I like both types though I can understand why reading the heavy stuff before bed might not feel like the right timing. I hope you were able to get some sleep!

Sorry for the delay. I worked over 14 hours today and have been working 12 or more hour days all week.
I got Breathless and Surfer Boi's yesterday.
I have not received ahk's. He said he was considering dropping out but has not gotten back in touch with me since mid-October. I think it's safe to say that ahk will not be participating in this round.
Do you all want me to send your work for ahk on to him or do you want them back?
I will get the projects in the mail in the next few days so we're good to go for your project, nycfem.

i think we will do what the bulk of people decide.. It's unfortunate we haven't heard from ahk.
Officially packages we sent to Australia and New Zealand on the same day arrived before the package sent on the same continent, rather sad actually.
I'm ok sending out all my projects and receiving one less than expected. If you want to send one of my projects back to me, it would be ok, too.
❤️
I would like for ahk to receive mine I made him!!! Thanks for the update. I was wondering.....

It sounds like the majority is okay with sending a package to ahk. I appreciate those that sent an extra buck or two with their projects. I'll use those funds to do so. I work the next couple of days but will try to sneak to the post office beforehand and mail the goodies out, otherwise they will go out first thing Wednesday morning. If you want me to send the packages to a different address than the return address, please let me know.
I'm excited about nycfem's PostSecret project and can't wait for details!!! I spent a few minutes looking at the new cards (new on Sundays) this morning.

POSTSECRET project (open for sign up, sign up closed by Friday the 13th of November, cards due by end of December)
1. Jennifer/nycfem
2.
3.
etc. (unlimited)
Info:
Send me a package with all the postcards, and I'll send you one back with postcards from each person participating. 5 dollars shipping. Please send me your package without any confirmation or need for signature. It's more likely to get lost at the nyc post office while it waits for me to come sign it than it is to just reach me without all that. To determine the number of postsecret postcards to make, subtract one (yourself) and you will know how many cards to make. You can make all the same postcard or all different ones. Secrets can be anonymous or you can sign your name, and you can let me decide who gets what or you can specify by writing it on the reverse side of the postcard (e.g. To: ahk From: Bleu -- or just From: Bleu or just To: ahk). All secrets must be kept secret and sacred, because while some go for light or not personal; some use it for catharsis. Postcards do not have to be 4x6, just reasonably sized. If you want to specify a "from" or a "to" (reminder: you can leave blank if you want, and I'll decide and you'll be anonymous), but you used both sides of your postcard for the project then just put it in a ziploc type baggie and stick a label on it or write on the baggie with permanent marker. For examples of postsecret, go to http://www.postsecret.com or do a google image search for "post secret" or "postsecret"

Excellent guesses! The tie-in was between the daisy and the "love always wins!" statement. It was kind of a play on the old game where you pull a petal from a daisy saying, alternately, "loves me. Loves me not." 🌼
The little note in the envelope served two purposes: to let you know who made the card and to let you know you're loved. ❤️
Cara
In more serious news, I hope you are okay after the storms, cara! 1 million are without power and there have been at least 3 fatalities.
Thanks for your concern, friend. It was a very big windstorm! We did not lose our power, but my parents and brother's family did. We've had so much rain lately that all the rivers are overflowing: a fairly typical autumn for the PNW.

Info:
Include 5 dollars for my shipping costs.
Please do NOT require signature upon delivery or delivery to be received by a human, etc. I am not going to the NYC post office because it causes me to go postal........
Make one postcard for each person. You can make all the same postcard for everyone or all different ones.
Secrets can be anonymous or you can sign your name.
You can let me decide who gets what or you can specify by writing it on the reverse side of the postcard or on the outside of a plastic baggie or envelope.
Postcards do not have to be 4x6, just reasonably sized. .......
For examples of postsecret, go to http://www.postsecret.com or do a google image search for "post secret" or "postsecret" (Post cards can be serious, personal, philosophical, whimsical-- whatever you choose.).[/QUOTE]

Some reactions to the triptychs:
1) Surferboi, the little beach shoes are so cute! And the water is so beautiful! So glad you've joined our group. You are talented!
2) Clay, I always love how you include a letter and also those embossed butterflies and swirls are frickin' amazing! Love you more ;). Oh, and can you tell more on the thread about how you did the embossing? It came out awesome!
3) CCB, mini=cute!, don't know how you found the quote "fierce and femme" (how did you?), and I love the little heart cabochon!
4) Gemme, love how the butterflies are in different positions and also love this project! You came up with such an awesome new idea! Now I'm obsessed!
5) Cara, love the flower! Love the positivity! Love the mini envelope! Love you!
6) Sweetcheeks, I love the material you used! I'm also a fan of nature. Your project is beautiful!
7) Ami, I adore the patterns, the gold, and the message. Thank you!
8) Breathless, I love how you used the little photo holders, and of course the flower itself is stunning!
9) Besame, Girrrrl, you outdo yourself! Damn! Sexy! I love the polka dots and the black lace and the different materials. Just amazing!!!
Funny story: I posted some pics of my triptych chains on FB and a friend said she fell in love with one of them, sooo I had to give it to her and get out all my supplies again to redo the one I had to give away. I guess I didn't have to give it away, but I'm a sucker for someone who says they have to have something I made! :D
I'm so grateful for you all, my penpal friends, old and new. I feel like my life has a special secret magic in it thanks to you all!
How wonderful & special you made me feel....mentioning each artist & their triptych to you!!!:hangloose:
For my embossing.....I used some premium cardstock.
I have a Sizzix Embossing machine and the template with those butterflies & swirls on them, and used it to emboss (imprint) the cardstock.
I then used some antique gold Rub N Buff to run over the raised details of those imprints.
Then I wrote each note...straight from my heart...to "connect" me to the recipient. I am fortunate enough to know most of the artists & some of their own personal journeys...so I include something specific to each recipient. These "projects" are so very special & dear to me....and I love everyone of the artists who participate!!!
Thanks for the kind words & asking about my processes in making each one!!!

So how's everyone's postsecret going? Mine are all done. No art involved for mine. I collect postcards so I picked out a postcard for each person and wrote a secret on it. I feel like my secrets stay the same (my deep dark ones) so hopefully you won't mind if by slight chance you get the same secret from me again (though I used a different secret for each person). In any case, it feels good to get them out! The way I did mine is secret on the picture side of postcard and to/from on the back, though of course you don't need to do the to/from thing- I just chose to.

Sounds nice! Mine are almost done. I wanted to work on mine this weekend, but my home computer is with our tech department being updated with software. So I'll finish them up this week and next weekend.
I'm using both sides of my cards. For instance, I created phoney stamps on the to/from side. Is that okay? You're not putting stamps on these and sending these out individually, are you? Or do I need to keep the address part blank (I was using that part to write who it's going to). Thanks, nycfem :)

Orema, what you are doing sounds great! Of course, anyone can do them exactly how they wish!! I'll send them out as one package, not individually.

It does feel good to get them out! (Or in my case, get one out - mine are all the same.) I was kind of surprised by that. I'm still working on mine - I keep feeling like I can make it a little bit better if I keep working on it. I'll either be satisfied with them eventually, or I'll run out of time. :)

Re: Postsecret project
I probably should have asked this sooner, but when I planned my project it seemed obvious that some secrets might be trigger-y. Mine could surely be seen by some as trigger-y. Should I offer to let people opt out of receiving mine? Should I package them individually in plain brown wrappers with a warning on the outside? Or am I worrying about a nonissue - does everyone assume they might be getting something trigger-y? nycfem, what do you want me to do?
Sorry I didn't think of this earlier.
nycfem
12-12-2015, 03:10 AM
No, it can be assumed that for this project people have a good chance of receiving triggery cards. You do not need to label, wrap, etc. The postsecret site itself makes it clear that it's a place where you do get to release a real secret. Most of mine are definitely what would be deemed "triggery."

This project stumped me. I think I've been thinking to hard on this. I have searched the web. Then I started listening to the trigger secret responses. I don't have any like that.
I went to what's going on in my life right now. Some of you know, some I will explain later too. But I have this now. It needs to be released 🎈🎈
I'm starting today. Christmas has been put to bed, so I have time now....

Ours will be out in the morning, no excuse really, other than time passed too quickly. We had them all planned out, and then we were on work site with no access to post office and bank for currency exchange till the last moment, and I received the call while still driving home that it was time to take my daughter in to have my first grandbabe. By the time I was out of the hospital, everything was closed and the year was over. However, I do assure you that the secrets are worth the wait *S* Hope that counts!
Happy New Year everyone!

So who has an idea for the next project? And let's get this rule going again as of now (excluding the postsecret project since that fell into the grey area of the transition between 2015-2016)
"For 2016, the rule is if one of us is more than a week late or drops out of a project for whatever reason, that person is welcome to continue posting but is not allowed to sign up for a group project again until January 1st, 2017. No exceptions. This rule applies to participants and to wranglers. This rule must be posted at the bottom of all new projects that are being wrangled so that members can thoughtfully consider whether we wish to commit to a new project."

Maybe a Valentine's exchange?
I am quite fond of the artist trading cards, I've missed out on that one the last time, or even an idea encouraging spring? (Yes I'm feeling wintered -out..lol another idea, that I have thought about is.. I love music, totally wrapped up in all kinds of music in every moment of my day, and when I meet new friends and hear what they are listening to, I feel like my collection of artists tends to expand, curious what everyone else listens to? Could we make that into some sort of a project, share your favourites of all time in kind of a complation of sorts? Burn to disk or card and share? ?

I thoroughly enjoyed the ATC's....was my first time ever....and would enjoy that project...
AND while I like the idea of sharing of music I would imagine CD's OR even SD cards would prove expensive postage wise, esp. on CD's and SD cards to purchase them ? Anyone else?
My vote is ATC's....cause I am so excited to get going again!
Thanks for some amazing suggestions Breathless!!!!!

nyc: can you please clarify the "dropping out for any reason" rule. I was thinking that we had said if someone drops out prior to the deadline to sign up then would still be able to participate during the year.
If someone signs up then drops out after
the deadline to sign up has passed, then that would mean exclusion in any projects for rest of the year until January 2017? Is that correct? Thanks for your helping me clarify this in my mind...:)
nycfem
01-13-2016, 10:25 AM
Hi Clay, thanks for bringing that issue up. Yes, if someone drops out before the deadline to sign up has been closed then they are not excluded from future projects because they are still following the rules.
Breathless, thanks for all your great ideas. I always enjoy valentine themes whether it is Card otherwise. I am also a fan of ATC's. I am less interested in burning a CD.
