Hey everyone,

Well it seems like alot of people have been sick and I'm one of them; I went to the doctor today and turns out I have a really bad chest cold. I just finished missing four days of work due to being sick and that's going to make for a very crappy paycheck next week but it is what it is. I know that everyone had been patiently waiting for their halloween cards and they are all done (have been for awhile) its just been hard to get out and send them. I was going to send them this past weekend, but as it turns out I had to use the last of my money to get groceries for the family since I live at home which only leaves enough cash for bus fare for work this week and next. I feel bad that this keeps happening when I sign up for a project something seems to screw things up and I apologize to all of you for this ~ I've noticed though that a few of the people who I made halloween cards for are also on the xmas card exchange list so I am going to send my xmas cards out between the end of the month and the middle of the December; so for those who have both sets of cards coming from me I might as well just send them out together.

I thank everyone for their patience and hope that when 2014 comes around, I will be able to do more projects that will not be so late!

I offered to help Tommi with the Raffle prizes and collected the artwork and framed it for the Raffle prize we donated, and to hear that it makes you crazy happy just makes my heart beat a little faster! yeah, they are small little things. I've been toting mine around in a Baggie. Last night I was using beads and...sure enough, I dropped the open bead container in my lap. Down thru the recliner they went. So, this morning I was on my hands and knees picking up beads from under the chair.

I have heard back from everyone, yay! All have mailed their projects except for Poetic Silence. She did write to me, however, to say she has been having health problem and will mail them out early this week. This seems reasonable to me, but I am not going to wait on that package TOO long. I don't want to keep folks waiting as this project was meant to be a fast turn around. BUT, we can cross that bridge when we come to it.

I have everyone's addresses, so as soon as all the packages are in I will get these puppies sent out again. :blueheels:

I'm glad to hear two of you have received them, because in my dream all kinds of shit went wrong--including rotten food and that I didn't realize Unique actually lived in Australia. I have clearly lost my mind.

CCB...what is that final coat you applied to the top? I love what it did.

It's called "Diamond Glaze." I usually use it in jewelry making but wanted to see how it would work on top of inchies, too. :) It can be used as a glue/sealant with glass or resin, and you can water it down to be kind of a Mod Podge type of thing with paper, and it's the BEST thing for holding down glitter.

I haven't seen it in stores before and always have gotten mine on Etsy.

LaDivina and I went to Ocean State Job Lot (a little odds and ends store in the NE apparently) over the weekend. They had several huge roasting pans with random greeting cards stuffed in. So, I've been sorta MIA lately, just not up to posting much...sorry.

I did get all my Inchies, and they are all absolutely wonderful! What creative minds we all have! I really have to say that they arrived on a day I needed some cheering up, and that did the trick, I was smiling from ear to ear! Thank you my friends!

Looking forward to the Valentines day cards, and I'm kinda thinking (*if my time permits!!) I want to make more that 2, so I might just do that, so if you get a PM from me asking for your address, don't be shocked!

I am going to say this about the size, because there is a chance someone has started this already, I will keep it the same. I am going to say this about the size, because there is a chance someone has started this already, I will keep it the same. However, if anyone wants to make them 5 X 7 because it will work better for your art, I will accept it! This is all about having fun!

ahk and CCB, I am so sorry you're out...but it is a lesson I'm learning on my first wrangling, and I agree with you that the size of the group might have been better off a limited number. Next time. I don't feel I can change that at this point since thre are 2 more days to sign up and I feel the need to stick to my word in case there was any other BFP artists thinking about participating. It's a piece of art made on a 1 X 1 inch square. Similar to the idea of an Artist Trading Card, but scaled down.

I wrangled an inchie swap a little while ago and you would be surprised what you can do within an inch!!! Everyone's ideas were amazing.

But 126 of them? Holy shit. I don't know how you guys do it sometimes! Everything takes me forever, which sometimes makes it difficult to sign up for projects.

Sign up for New Pen Pal Project: HALF INCHIES!!!


An Artist Trading Card (ATC) is a 2.5" x 3.5" mini work of art. An "Inchie" is the same but even smaller, 1" by 1" piece of art. A half inchie is a .5" by .5" piece of art. Tiny, tiny, tiny! Max of 10 people can sign up, and you must sign up for yourself (No signing up for other people since there is a set limit of people, and I want to be fair.).

There are no requirements for how you decorate your half inchies, but please only decorate one side, and write your name lightly in pencil on the back of each half inchie. If you want to specify who each half inchie is for, then write that on the back too (Practice your tiny script!). They can be ornate or very simple, whatever pleases your inner child. Please include 1 dollar (an actual dollar, no checks or money orders) for mailing costs. If you don't have my mailing address, I will put it in your rep comments when you sign up. Please include yours when you mail me your projects.

Please get them to me by the end of April. I will mail them out May 1st COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, so don't even think of being late. Don't sign up if you can't make that deadline. Also, I live in a building that will not sign for packages, and my husbutch and I work so DO NOT send them with any requirement for receiving in person or signing for delivery. I will not deal with the horrible nyc post office and so it will wait and come right back to you.

Outsider artist's would cut up a cereal box, paste your favorite quote on the back , written in crayon(recycling) and get it off ASAP..or something simple and fast in an emergency so the train keeps moving...:firetruck::fireman:

I hear you, Deb. I've had quite the few trials in the past few weeks myself including my heat pump leaking refridgerant all over the place, plumbing issues, an injury and a new medical issue coupled with doctor visits, work hours going crazy on me again, several (maybe 6-7) first attempts not coming out right at all as well as a few personal set backs. I've got cut up cardboard boxes (my 'disposable' and very portable work surfaces) all over my apartment along with tubs of crafty goodness. It seriously looks like Michael's threw up in here. lol

Trust me, it seems daunting but you can do it. Like Tommi said, it doesn't have to be Shakespeare to be poetry (I'm paraphrasing). I'm a little late myself, due to what I mentioned and I thought about pulling out but by then folks had already sent some of theirs in so that wasn't an option, but there's still plenty of time to get yours in.

Wild animals and birds are my favorite, then sea and landscapes, n flowers, n whatever comes into my head in the middle of the night....Only thing I don't do are people pictures. ( I do face and body painting though ;). Canvas and walls too. Currently, I have three oil on canvas paintings in progress, one white tiger, a 24"X 36" stormy Oregon coast, and a ______(surprise) for kaijira. My Oil canvases hang on the walls too. :)

My current on the wall mural home project is painting the entry way wall and my guest bathroom.
Bathroom tile is a mossy grass green, with straw colored grouting. The walls are lemon yellow and spring green. So far, Entry way mural has green bamboo growing from floor to ceiling amid soft sky blue and puffy white clouds. From alongside the door frame, extending to the guest room the sprouts and flowers take you into the room.

Then, inside the bathroom as you enter , the far wall will have two baby panda's playing in the bamboo clearing.

So, nine .5 x.5 inch lil things will be fun.

No, When I was talking about murals on canvas, I meant loose sheets, not stretched canvas. It's a good way of doing murals in a rental space, where it can't be a permanent part of the space. On a properly prepped wall, a good paperhanger can come in and put up the canvas. That way, it be carefully removed at a later date, rolled and the owner can take it with them, and not leave behind some artwork the landlord might not appreciate and charge for painting over. Or it can be simply hung from a pole, like a banner. That's one way of doing it, there are one or two others, if it's going to be a permanent piece.

SIGN UP COMPLETED for New Pen Pal Project: HALF INCHIES!!!


An Artist Trading Card (ATC) is a 2.5" x 3.5" mini work of art. An "Inchie" is the same but even smaller, 1" by 1" piece of art. A half inchie is a .5" by .5" piece of art. Tiny, tiny, tiny! Max of 10 people have signed up. That means you make 9.

There are no requirements for how you decorate your half inchies, but please only decorate one side, and write your name lightly in pencil on the back of each half inchie. If you want to specify who each half inchie is for, then write that on the back too (Practice your tiny script!). They can be ornate or very simple, whatever pleases your inner child. Please include 1 dollar (an actual dollar, no checks or money orders) for mailing costs.

Please get them to me by the end of April. I will mail them out May 1st COME HELL OR HIGH WATER, so don't even think of being late. Also, I live in a building that will not sign for packages, and my husbutch and I work so DO NOT send them with any requirement for receiving in person or signing for delivery. I will not deal with the horrible nyc post office and so it will wait and come right back to you.

I got my package to Nan shipped off early bird style this morning and it's one of the ones that will get there Monday.

You won't have much work to do with mine, Nan. I have already sealed them up and put names to 'em and everything. I wanted to make it as easy for you as possible, plus I put a little bit of personality into certain people's stuff and I can't have the personalities mixing can I?

It was a good project! I just had difficulties with my execution and then I overthought some stuff and made a whoooolllllle lot more work for myself than what was necessary but I hope y'all like them.

I have 3 ideas for Jennifer's project and I'm not changing them around. I'll try one and if it works, great. If it doesn't, there's plan B. And C.

Actually, we are going to Vegas for a conference she is speaking at, and I am attending for a week. We will be married in California in due time, and celebrate in several places, so she can have my federal pension, anuity, etc.

I'm so sorry everyone for the halloween card fiasco. I am trying my darndest to send them out but with my hours being cut down and trying to help my parents keep bills at bay, sending them out is going to be difficult but I am going to try my best to get them out to everyone before the end of the month.
