So I make 10 projects with "spring" as the theme.
They can be anything I'm assuming? Any medium, whatever, as long as it fits in an 8x10 envelope right?
Then I mail all ten to Tommi with $5.00 each for postage, then he mails them all out?

So a few questions...
Why don't we just mail them to the other people ourselves?
Do all 10 things have to be the same?
Can you choose who gets which item you make? Can you personalize them in some way for each person?

I think that's all my questions.

Everyone pretty much covered this I think but I just wanted to mention to just do what feels right, whether you think it will 'work' or not. We're a very diverse group here and it's so inspiring and surprising to see how others interpret the same theme. It's a very good day when our packages arrive.

Keep in mind that the number of pieces to do will fluctuate until the sign up deadline hits so don't get hung up on making one specific number (like 10) just yet. It may or may not change.

Now to work on the spring one and to do the sketches of the xmas ornaments for the reunion raffle...which I hope the sketches can be used in one of these projects somehow..lol...

Ornament sketches? That could be pretty neat! Maybe you could use them, if you want, for one of the letters in the PLANET book? T for time of year or N for nine (if you have that many sketches when you're done)? Or were you going to do them separately? Either way, it sounds pretty darn nifty.

Ya know, like when you buy a scratch off lotto card, only this person's secrets are underneath! I only mention this ahead of time because it stupidly took me way too long to figure out that I had to scratch the silver to get to the secret! Sooo, I'm letting you all in on the *secret* :)

PS I hope this individual will PM me and tell me HOW they did this! I have a quirky obsession with scratch off art and have always wanted to know how to do it! It's popular in Japan :)

I dont want to hold everyone up so I will work on getting mine done as soon as I can. Its this endoscopy that is holding me up. The anxiety it has created is not condusive to creativity. However tomorrow is THE day. You wouldnt think a simple test would be such a traumatic anxiety building problem but it has been. Its been a flipping nightmare. And I cant and dont want to imagine what the surgery procedure is going to be like. But...I am not going to go there until I have to...

True story. I did, indeed, do all different ones for the Postsecret project. For the Spring project, one is the same and the others are all different. At this point in time, there is only one with glitter paint on it on the different ones but most of the same one have glitter paint.

Okay, the DESIGN of one of them is exactly the same but there are small things that are different with the first one. The second one has all kinds of different stuff, as I felt like playing around a bit. :)

Oh! Idea! You could incorporate a 'frame' in your pieces (like a window or a picture frame) that has a small cross-stitched picture in it. That way, it won't be so large and time consuming but you'll get a dash of stitching in.

If by 'steal' you mean, can someone come along and copy and paste your images with or without your consent to use for their own personal use, yes. We do it all the time here when we post pics found online. If it's online, it's available to anyone else. The same with poetry. Someone can clip a piece of work and use it as they wish.

Pixie made you an awesome list below, but that's not ALL of the topics we've done. We started this at the dash a looooooong time ago, so I wouldn't worry too much about replicating a theme. Try to keep all of us in mind when deciding on your parameters. Some of us have more limited incomes and if there are too many restrictions or requirements, it can be tedious and no longer fun. The whole purpose of doing the craft rounds is for fun, so have fun coming up with a theme and help us to have fun doing them. :)

On a wonderful side note.I hadnt used my new town's post office yet. I had been using other Post offices simply because I was always on the way somewhere when I needed to drop something off. Today I actually went into my new town's PO. WOW. I LOVE my new town's diversity.....literally a gazillion different kind of people in the line with me!

I grew up in a very very white upper upper crust school system but I was the lowly working class farmer's daughter out of a very russian slavic ethnic group..gypsy. I stuck out like bellering goose amongst swans. But here, oh my goodness, I looked and sounded as beautiful as the rest! I finally felt at home. A place I belonged. (And for those who think geese are not as beautiful or graceful as swans, look up some fall day and think how incredible it is that they can navigate in formation like that)

WE are at 97 pages. Creative bunch, eh. (see pixie quote for topics)
A person requests to be the Wrangler of a project, creates the subject, outlines criteria start and stop date, receives all the completed projects including $5.oo for postage and handling, (bubble envelope, etc) from each participant, Wrangles them into equal sets, and sends to the return address of the participant. Some folks ar late for the train, so the Wrangler taps foot ..tap..tap..tap, then when all are recived sent and received, the partipants are filled with awe and amazement at the Penpals, Scrapbookers, Postcard Artists and Other Creative Types talent and wonderful collectibles.

Well, pixie did a summary recently of the previous "Projects" which I quoted below. The titles don't tell much. :hangloose: We have not done a book, but I would love to. Maybe a chapbook size. !! hinting ...

Tommi gave you a good idea of where we are at this point. Some of us still do the typical penpal thing, but for the most part, we are doing craft rounds as well as beginning work on chapters for a BFP book that will be bound by our Pixie before the Reunion. Since you have experience in binding, perhaps when that time comes, you would be gracious enough to give her some ideas?

We designate a wrangler who will determine the current project, rules/size or materials parameters for that particular project as well as the deadlines for signing up and mailing out your work. They collect it (and the postage money Tommi mentioned as well, since we all try to divvy the costs up pretty equally, we send $5 with our work to the wrangler so that they can repackage the participants' individual pieces and send them back out as a collection to each person).

This is what we have going on now (below). If you would like to participate, please copy the list of those who have already signed up and post it with your name added on to the bottom. The number of pieces you would need to make are the total number of partipants, minus one (yourself) unless you would like one of your own pieces back to add to the collection..in that case, you would make as many pieces as there are participants. Make sure Pixie has your mailing information and you have hers and CREATE! Voila! We are very free with materials, design, sizes and whatnot, so don't think you have to conform in some way. We just ask that it be a reasonable size for shipping. Usually, the largest we go is paper size (8.5x11) and if we do go that large, we typically add a bit more for the reshipping of the packages.

I've only done 1 project so far, but none of mine were the same in art, but the same in size and how they were put together following the theme. If we get 15 people to sign up, you could make 15 so that you get one of yours back. Otherwise you make one less than the number who sign up.

You could if you wish but it's not a requirement. Some of us have done that at one point or another, but some of us make a completely different piece for each person and, if you know the participants well enough, you are more than welcome to 'assign' who what piece goes to.

When I opt to do that, I put my pieces in a ziplock type baggie and write in marker on the front of the baggie who it is supposed to go to. You could also put sticky notes on the pieces if you would rather do that. Remember to sign your pieces too. I usually put my s/name on the back of each piece.

We're very free and fluid here. Everyone's art is not going to be the same and some of us are at different skill levels than others, but we all have a lovely time doing these projects and I know that I am always very excited to receive our full collections back from the wrangler. :)

BB was looking at my projects this weekend, and on some of my cards I had written words I use that are how I describe myself. So we ended up getting into an intense, even tearful discucssion (okay, I'm the one that cries) about words! Then BB dreamed about it. I just wanted to share because, indeed, words are so powerful, and this project gave a chance to really explore that for myself!

and have started a mini book to keep a record of my sock knitting projects in that is almost ready to go
