Well, tornados close by but none touched me and mine thank God. Been a rough couple of days thanks to Irene. Sump pump decided not to work so we had water in our basement. I had many friends come out and help get the water out, put in a new sump pump and they figured out that there are either roots that are blocking the pipe for the pump to the street or it collapsed in the earthquake. So we need to replace that. sigh.... But I'm glad everyone is safe. We had a hurricane party the day of the hurricane and a post hurricane party after we finished my basement last night. Boy did we need THAT!

OK, Now I am exhausted and I have to go to work. lol

Good Morning! Hope everyone is having a great morning. I am on a rant frustrated already with alot of things, but trying to remain calm and sane! I am ready for Little Rock I need this vacation.

Ok so here's my rant I hate the new hearing aids they make I would rather not hear then wear them, but since my doctor wants me to wear them for a week I have to listen or she will know by the log report if I wore them or not.

Secondly, I don't know if its going to happen, but I have a fractured sesamoid in my left foot, its broken I think in 3-4 places, they might have to surgically remove them. I am getting an MRI today to see what kind of damage I have to the tendon. My life in a nut shell.

Seems I'm not the only one who is having a bad day. I'm sick :( I know it's allergies but my throat feels like strep throat. I'm already dehydrated because I can't even get down water :( I had to cancel my pre-admission tests for today. Really...who gets sick 9 days before surgery UGH

Some of us are having a great day, some of us are having a shitty day, and I'm sure there are some having everything in between.

As for me, I'm having one of those "in between" days. Today I found out I am going back to work on Tuesday, after 6+ weeks of medical leave for surgery I had on July 18. I feel like I have been gone forever. I am happy about going to work and getting my brain occupied, but I am not looking forward to the stress of the day-to-day. It will be nice to be around people again! (I confess, I've become very accustomed to living in my pajamas, doing as I please, moving at a slow pace.)

In other good news, the doctor said I am doing great, so that's a relief.

I'll be enjoying my last few days of freedom. :sunglass:

I can apply for the International text messaging plan and I can get 100 text messages for $10 a month. I miss the calls from my friend in Ireland and I know that hy is busy with college and running hys business. So everyday, when I put my Claddaugh necklace on, I am reminded of hym.

I have the family share plan through AT&T. Since I've had an iPhone since 2008, I have the original unlimited data plan for $30. Have you talked to them about the unlimited text and mobile to mobile plan? My mom and I looked into this plan and it cut $30 without taxes off of our bill. That amount doesn't count text messages that I send to Ireland once in awhile. If I do, that adds another $2-$5 to the bill, since those text messages cost 25 cents each. That is how I had a $77 bill just for text messages, opps.

I know that happens to me. I use a phone plan called Straight Talk its 45.00 for unlimited calls, texts and web surfine....only its only available in the States and you can't call to other countries :(

I ordered this amazing dish with spiced chicken chunks under a bed of sweet saffron rice, with crushed almonds, crushed pistachios, cardamom and candied orange peel on top. FREAKING INCREDIBLE.

there was also this amazing appetizer of warm flatbread with spiced, mashed pumpkin and onions inside, kind of like a quesadilla of deliciousness. It came with a yogurt sauce to put on top.

The afghani iced tea had something akin to jasmine and a blend of spices similar to those in indian chai. I've never had anything like it. :)


Super adventure time will include afghani restaurant, art museum, volleyball game, county fair, and Sugarland concert. :)

Morning Singles... More cleanup left to do from Irene but not too bad here otherwise. House still smells... ugggh.... been putting bowls of vinegar around, have a fan running 24/7 in the basement to get things really dry. I have to get rid of 2 big area rugs. I need help to do it so I put out an all call to my friends. Once that is done I'm gonna mop the floor with bleach/water mixture and put some powdered bleach on the floor. I looked it up on the web and that is supose to help. If that doesn't do it, I think I will try kitty litter. Never heard of that before but it makes sense to me that it should work. *shrug*

Happy first day of September!!!

I'm officially renaming this "no bad luck" month. I've had a bunch of crappy luck and last night was no exception. I was lucky enough to get my car towed because the spot I put it in apparently changes to "no parking" after a certain time of night, which I was not aware of.

If any of you have ever seen that show Parking Wars, you will understand what I went through. Unfortunately I had to clean out my checking and savings accounts as it cost me $470 to get my car out of the impound lot. Now I have two shiny, brand new tickets in the amount of $130 I have yet to pay, and $12 to last me until the 9th.

So I am determined, this will be the month where I don't have any terrible luck, and I make it through unscathed. I started off by finding a giant jar of peanut butter and two kinds of jelly in the pantry this morning so I can make all kinds of sandwiches for lunch. This is a promising start. :)

Well I just woke up. Off today so yeah!!!!! I have been having a rough time at work. So I am glad to be away from them today. I see more of them than anyone else in my life. I call them my work family. LOL You cannot pick your family or your work family.

It is a gorgeous day today.September is my fav month. There is alot of transition in the weather.

Yesterday at work I was recognized by a woman who used to live in the apt downstairs from my family. She was my babysitter. The last time I saw her she was 17. I was really part of the family I used to eat dinner with them most nights. Her brother and I used to play together. We would play army, baseball and ride our bikes through the neighborhood. Bologna sands and a mountain dew for lunch everyday. We used to bring our mits in the house and bounce our baseballs off the walls and always get yelled at. Her Mom was the first to put soap in my mouth because I said a bad word. LOL She always had the boys chasing her and we would hang around and be annoying. Anyway I found out her Mom and Dad have passed away like finding out my own parents passed. I met her daughter and grandchild. It was sooooo emotional. What is funny is that her brother and her live around me in South Jersey we used to live in North Jersey. Small world.
Anyhow have a grrrreat day and I wish pleasant surprises for everyone today. Positive brings positive.:koolaid:

My sister and I want to eradicate it from the calendar! My brother, my mom, and my partner all died in September, and my dad was in a really bad car accident in September also, leaving him permanently disabled. So naturally, I want everyone I love to be wrapped in bubble wrap for the next 30 days. Since that's probably not going to happen, I just get a little freaky every September, and worry when the phone rings.

SOOOOO..........let's make September 2011 a calm and peaceful, event-free, very boring month. I'd really like that.

I'm SO glad its the beginning of September, one week until My sister goes back to school YAY :D

Don't get Me wrong I love that kid to death, but this is the second summer that I had to watch her and I didn't get out to do much of anything (though I did get out a few times atleast). Good Morning Singles!!! Happy 3 day weekend!! Its supposed to be nice here today and tomorrow but on Monday we're supposed to be getting storms. I tried doing laundry yesterday (we only have 1 washer and 1 dryer in each building) but the dryer was broke so I ended up having to take a pile of wet close to the next building and losing 1.50 on the broken dryer....I put a sign up saying it wasn't working since nobody else had. Today, I'm going to get more quarters to do more laundry *sigh*

Got up early and went to an AA convention this morning, then headed out to a park on the Arkansas River for a picnic lunch. this afternoon I am listening to the radio, waiting for the play-by-play of my team's first football game of the season. (I might try hitting the local sports bar/restaurant to see if they are carrying the game on their cable network) Go Big Red!

Then it is family stuff. Have to go buy some food for my grandkids, as they have days before their food stamps get renewed. I guess THIS is why I moved back to be closer to them, huh?

I have had a lovely weekend! Friday went to philly with a couple friends to meet someone I had met online. She was singing and playing guitar at a coffee house. Very nice! Sat went again to philly to see a burlesque(sp?) show. Drag kings, 2 queens, and various. One friend was having her debut perfomance! WHAT a great time! Sunday birthday bbq with my family and today a bbq with friends. Made my famous brownies! lol All in all a great weekend.

Spent the afternoon/evening at the hospital, the woman that I am sharing an apt with here (an old family friend, super straight) had a couple of heart attacks today, had a stent put in, she's on a ventilator. All of her family are out of state, so I am the designated one till her son gets into town tomorrow afternoon. Man, this has been a killer 2 weeks! I don't think I have EVER had so much stress in my life as I have had recently.

Prayers/good thoughts would be appreciated!

I have had a lovely weekend! Friday went to philly with a couple friends to meet someone I had met online. She was singing and playing guitar at a coffee house. Very nice! Sat went again to philly to see a burlesque(sp?) show. Drag kings, 2 queens, and various. One friend was having her debut perfomance! WHAT a great time! Sunday birthday bbq with my family and today a bbq with friends. Made my famous brownies! lol All in all a great weekend.

I've been feeling icky, as I told Dr Sunny, I think I'm coming down with the flu. I was asked to foster another kitty but said no because I knew I'd end up adopting her and my limit is 4, which is what I have now. Hopefully this kitty will find a good foster home. I don't think my cats would appreciate having another kitty...my cat, Max is still hissing at Goldie....she hisses back but it sounds like a squeak lol

I know this is a really hard time for you, Cody. Just try your best to think of the good times. Having lost a pet, I know this is easier said than done. Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog Karma. I lost my dog of 13 years ago in July 2011 and it has been hard for me. Its understanding to be sad.

Hi Sunny!! I hope things are going good for you...if not, at least better then they have been going. My spirits are about the same...hopefully things will settle down and I'll be in wonderful spirits again. As for Cody and a puppy. When my Boo passed away, I fostered my kitty, Goldie...later on I adopted her. It was a good experience and it freed up some room at the shelter for another animal. Also, I could use a butch chaffur :)

Good Morning Singles! Its finally the weekend...I hope those of you who aren't working today have a wonderful weekend and for those of you that have to work that your day goes by quickly
I never got around to cleaning my closet (can you say lazy?? lol) But my AC broke...the pipes froze. Since the temps here have been in the 90's except for this week, I've been keeping my AC on. Last night, I just opened all the windows. The cats loved sitting in front of the windows and listening to the noise of cars going by etc..
Today, my AC is supposed to get fixed. I'm also going to WalMart with my sister...it'll be good to spend sometime with her

I need to get my eyes checked out too. I wear contacts and there's some law that says if you wear contacts you have to get a check up once a year. The eye doctor usually gives me a contact prescription for a year then its time for a check up and a new prescription!

The insurance that I have from work for my vision is awesome! I have to pay a $5 copay for my glasses and that is it. I just need to get my happy ass to the dentist and have the hygenist yell at me for waiting so long to come back...

Hey Singles!

Went to a weekend lesbian retreat called Sister Space this weekend! It was so much fun! Met some wonderful people there! It was like camp meets crusie ship meets lesbian potluck/pool party/dance night...etc.. lol They had some wonderful music, some great seminars including one butch femme run by a couple I found out later are on this site.. a really great drum circle.. made a stepping stone, tye dyed my sister space weekend t shirt.. purple and torqoise... came out beautiful. Only downside was that there were many hills and stubborn me wouldn't let them pick me up with the Golf carts they had for folks who had a hard time with them. Ended with with a migraine from the strain of it...next year I won't be so stubborn! I went to a butch-femme seiminar run by a couple from this site. It was very well run and a lot of fun talking about the dynamic and about sex. I went swimming, got new book from the books swap, bought a really nice ring...silver, 2 women, one holding a moon and one holding a star. Went to burlesque Karoke which was wonderful fun and the best part was spending time with a couple good friends and meeting so many new ones! I love meeting new people and I met some really nice women. If anyone is near the Maryland area I highly suggest it. Very relaxing and lots of fun!

Hope you all had a great weekend! It sounds like Andy and Ruthie did. I had to work yesterday and did we ever have fun! We were laughing for almost a half an hour straight and we had everyone from the PBX department looking at us, like wtf. I came home lastnight and watched a couple of episodes of the First 48 and then went to bed. I have found that after talking for 7.5 hours, my voice is gone and I had a hard time talking to a friend lastnight on the phone. I sounded like a frog, hehe..
