It is a good 4 or 5 hours. After much experience with this kind of thing, I don't date anyone who is more than an hour away from me. Less than that would be preferable.

Single, super femme, almost 24. I'm young, but I know what I want in life, in a career, in a partner, in the bedroom, etc. I almost always date older women.

I'm happy where I am in life and am not desperate for a partner. I just sometimes feel that little ache in my heart that wishes I had someone to share life with. It's more of an irritation than an ache, I suppose.

Anyways, I know the best thing I can do is just put myself out there as best as I can. I got a cute necklace that says "Femme" in silver letters. Hopefully that's a good way to make me more visible ;)

Actually debated on whether I should add my name to this list but finally decided why not. The worse that can happen is I get more friends right? It is hard to describe myself completely I have been told by many that I am complicated but I disagree. If you take the time to actually get to know me or anyone for that matter it really is not that hard. I am many things and I hate labels because they are either to limiting, mean something different depending on what side of the country you are on, or worse yet to broad. I am 45 and I can guarantee you I am all butch, now to what degree that usually depends on the persons generation I am finding. All I know is I do believe in respect. I am Old School but that does not mean I believe in some 1950's stereotype. Age is usually not a factor for me maturity level is. I guess that is enough to start with. If you have more I do answer all questions to the best of my ability. Have a great weekend singles.

Exactly. Mom is going no where anytime soon, as I am sure the case with your daughter. Children and in my case my mom, need a lot of attention and care. Should someone choose to be a part of this life, they could see the devotion one can have for another.

You'd be surprised how many people who are in the same position as you. I also take care of my Mom, but for different medical reasons. I moved to Mobile from Milwaukee to take care of both my parents. My dad had cancer and died a little over a year after the move. My mom cannot live by herself. It does get difficult to balance your personal life with your family commitments. I do agree it does get lonely at times. Honestly it is frustrating, but you got to do these things when someone in your family needs you. I wish I weren't single and I would love to be in a relationship with someone. I guess in time it will happen. Thank you for sharing your situation.

To all the singles with family situations that make getting into a relationship difficult I would like to give you some hope. There are people out there that wouldn't think twice about dating you whether it is a child or a parent that makes you a package deal. I know because I am one of those people so others must exist. I would NEVER date a femme or get into a long term relationship with one if she had a child and I wasn't ready to step up and have that child become a part of my life as well. I never understand butches that get into relationships with moms then get upset that she has a child. The same would hold true for anyone that was taking care of an adult family member for any reason! So never give up your special someone is out there. Might be right in front of your eyes or around the next corner you take or thread you post in.

I am happy with myself, but it has been a while... and I wouldn't find someone to spend some of my time with. I have some special circumstances as well, and like to think someone out there would still be happy to be my butch. Time will tell.

Your point is well taken and we singles would do well to remember this and be encouraged.
I have an amazing 8yo son whom I share with my ex-wife. Since he loves with me half-time, I do get a chance to date and maintain friendships, I'm lucky in that regard. But at this point I am clear I want more children so I do not even consider seriously anyone who doesn't already have children or who is not open to this--it can limit the pool but generally I think I benefit from the Butches with Babies/Kids thing...

(a thought for those of you caring for parents, often times the condition-specific local chapter --say Alzheimer's --will have a respite program to allow you to get out, take a break, whatever--for all of you, I now it's hard and devoted care, you have my support.)

Here is a question for the singles, where do You meet people? I find it difficult to do here in a small town, but I'm working on it. I live in Kentucky and it's next to impossible to meet anyone here. I've tried to get involved in different things, but if you don't fit into someone's clique, forget it. I had thought maybe I'd meet someone online (never know), but that hasn't turned out to be the best idea. For now, I think I've pretty much said f-it to the whole notion of dating.

I did the mingling thing with the local lesbian community, but, while they're polite, they don't make conversation. As soon as they know your story (and believe me it goes through the whole community), they aren't interested. They don't even want to meet for coffee---except in a large group. Most are coupled, too.

Online? Nope. Been there, done that. Done my share of driving to meet someone, only to find out that it wasn't what you expected on either side.

Hello. It's a warm day here in south central Pa and tomorrow promises to be warmer! That would be GREAT if I liked hellishly hot summer days! Which I don't :(

I am trying to be kind and considerate to my ex (yeah, we decided to try the friend things again) but she's already acting resentful that my social calender isn't free for her to pick and choose when she wants to do something, whatever that something is. Granted, my social calander only has one name on it (TT) but there it is.

We're going to have to have THE talk again. Her sullenly listening, me calmly explaining that not only is TT a very very important part of my life, I am also pretty much decided on getting my OWN TT. (child lol) So, this is my life, either be a part of it or don't, but don't expect the pouting, sullen silences and guilt trips to do anything but make me stop taking your calls.

I am single, and do want the marriage, the kids, the entire nine yards, but I am taking this time to learn how to be me again, just me, to learn how to be in love with myself. It truly isn't as difficult as I thought it would be. Turns out that I am rather loveable! Who knew?? LOL

Anyway, though I can, at times, come off as a bitch, I truly am not and am open to any and all friendships. The best relationships are built on a solid foundation of friendship.

It is quiet so far today. It is bright,beautiful and promises to be a scorcher. I think frequently about the things I can do to bring my energies up into the positive realm so I don't keep creating negative experiences in my life. Does anyone else do this?

What are some things you do or can do to bring yourself to a positive state of mind? I remind myself I can change my mind anytime I choose. I remind myself I am in control of thoughts and therefore in control of my emotions. I know my thoughts lead directly to what I feel. If it is negative thinking my emotions are negative, the same for positive. I also make sure I belly laugh at least a few times every day, leave my past in the past and move forward. I don't pretend away or ignore issues or grief, I process them in a timely manner.

Issue with "friends" still not resolved despite my best efforts. People will believe what they want to believe... that is that. I will take a break from this group for a while. I have some other friends in that group, but I can see them on my own until they move on to something else. I will be quite busy this weekend and next between babysitting, a dance, a date, acupuncture and sunday I am taking myself to the beach! I need a relaxing day!

What a crazy night.

So, I hear a "Mick, come here look at this" and I go running to moms room. There is water pouring out of the A/C vent. Now this is a new unit only a month old. I go up in the attic and there is water everywhere! Probably about 3-4 gallons of standing water under the intake box and pools of water elsewhere. I call the company and they tell me they can come out tomorrow about 11 am. I asked what I was supposed to do with my elderly mother in 98 degree temp. I get no reply. I kind of understand not wanting to work at 7pm, but if you do a job and it is not done properly, I think you should come fix it ASAP. Especially when it can be life threatening such as heat stroke for mom. Just saying.

I I get a window AC and install that and set up fans to keep the house quasi cool. We will see?!?

Hey Mick, just do what my Mom does. She puts two fans in windows at night downstairs and two upstairs. Runs them all night to get the house cool. Then when she wakes up she takes the fans out and closes windows and shades. I'm amazed at how cool the house is without ac. She calls it, "The poor mans AC"

Yeah, for those up north that works well. Here in the south where is gets in triple digits, does not fair so well. I have tried! But, after they fix this damn thing, I am considering going old school with window units. This one small unit has cooled the majority of the house. They use much less electricity and cool just as well. I am still in thinking mode. We will see.

Central AC goes out for the second time(only 3 weeks old), AC repair guy cancels on Sat, I buy window ac to install, had to take it back because it was used!!, bought second ac unit. Had to install the unit and a second smaller one for the bedrooms. Finally, Sun rools around and i go to make mom dinner and dumbass me grabs a hot pan and get second degree burns on 3 of my fingers. Spend 3 hours soaking hand in ice water and then standing in front of the ac unit to stop the pain... i am so glad it is Monday!!!

It is beautiful in the city today! Gonna be another scorcher and it's all good by me. Work is fabulous. My boss is a doll. I am blessed beyond all imaginable and we secured a living facility for Mama when she needs it. It is one of the best in the country. She won't be far from my brother's house, couple miles, and we can go in whenever we want to visit. We can also bring her home to visit. She doesn't have to go for months, thank goodness, unless there is a drastic change. So it is an all around fantastic beginning to my week!

Thanks everyone. Its a lot better today. I went online after many hours of feeling like there was a blow torch on my fingers and found a homeopathic remedy. You wrap your fingers in foil. I know it sounds crazy. But it worked. I foiled my fingers and after about 15 minutes of unbearable pain, it suddenly went away. I cannot explain it, but it worked!

Oh and no alien signals either! LOL

Had a wonderful date yesterday with a Butch women I met at a womens music festival in MD. We have been getting to know each other and the last 2 times things have definately changed from "getting to know you/possibly friend/possibly more" to the possibly more. lol She has some things to figure out before we can be gf's... she is working through some stuff... I will still date other ppl.. but I really like her a lot!! She is smart, funny, considerate, likes to dance, cooked a meal for me!!! Yesterday we went to Qfest in Philly and saw Cloudburst (I highly recomend the movie, I had seen it friday with friends and went back to see it on sunday bc I liked it so much... a rarity for me), then we went to a little place and had a friut bowl and iced tea. Then we went back to Jersey and had Indian food at this great little place... good food, and very quiet.. we had wonderful conversation for a couple of hours, then went to a coffee shop to talk some more!! She has her kids next weekend so I won't get to see her until the following weekend. We are going to try (for the 3rd time) to go to the beach for the day!! We both adore the beach!!! It would be great!

We shall see, in the meantime I will be dating other ppl. I would like her to be my gf... but she is dating others as well so I won't put all my eggs in that basket. Nice to be out with a real butch woman who knows how to do the dance!

I had a date today with a woman I have been dating for a while, and while date was fun, she was definately pulling away. There was affection, but not as much as before. No making out etc. I know she is dating other people, and one other in particular. We have both been very honest with each other. I will not have sex outside of a relationship, she doesn't want a relationship..but does want sex. She has respected my boundaries and I respect her honesty. However, after today, I think she is leaning towards the other woman. We were seeing each other every other weekend (she has kids). Now she is going away on the weekend we usually see each other and the next time I see her will be at a women's event where we will be in the same cabin for a weekend with a number of other women. I know she is having sex with this other woman... fine. My head knows, and I told her, that she needs to figure this out for herself. She no longer wants to be monogamous because of past hurts. I want her to figure this out, I don't mind that she is doing this.It is something she feels she needs to do for a while and figure out what she wants. What bothers me is that she seems to be pulling away from me. She still seems to like me, played with my hair, kissed me sweetly several times, took me swimming and then out to dinner. But I am getting the feeling that she is wanting to go backwards... more of a friendship. I think I need some time away from her to figure out what I want to do. It's starting to hurt, and I don't like that

hey ruthie! i'm sorry you are going through this. i've learned in my experience, that if you both aren't on the same page, then you really want to find someone who is, ya know? in my opinion, it sounds like she wants her cake and eat it too, (no pun intended!) and it's not fair to you. i know what it's like to be led on and i don't like it. it's pretty much be real, or don't bother me! i don't have the time and energy for that stuff. you deserve better! hang in there....:)

Happy Tuesday Singles!! Anything good happen today? Let's strike up some conversation here. Today I was blessed to freeze approximately 8 quarts of hot peppers. We had corn on the cob for dinner. Our neighbor brought fresh veggies over last night from her garden. There was 2 cantaloupes, 3 cucumbers, 4 tomatoes, a bushel of hot peppers, a grocery bag full of corn already husked and cleaned, 2 yellow squash, some bell peppers, and some pablano peppers. I am going to find some recipes on how to cook the pablano peppers. I hear it is good with cheese. So we will see...

In response to you Ruthie.....I agree with spiritfemme7 and am very sorry you are going through this. There are others who hold the same values as you so take your time and find the one that is 'right'. You will thank yourself in the end. Honestly, I think there are many who have been in your shoes...me included. The pain is the downside, but the self-respect you have by sticking to your values is the upside. Be true to you and find the person who holds the same desires as you.

Movies were great! A happy Ending was directed by the same person who directed Clare in the Moon... many years ago I believe. I have yet to see that one, but a friend has it on VHS so sometime soon we are going to have a viewing! lol

A friend of mine had to put her 17 year old pit mix down today. I am so sad.... her dog Kelsey and I spent a LOT of time together over the last couple years. Her mommy had to go away for work a lot so she would often spend 3 to 4 days a week at my house. Sometimes a couple of weeks. It breaks my heart. Run swiftly over the rainbow bridge my friend!
