Yeppers.... timing IS everything! And time available, time for self, time for family, time for reflection...

My kid is grown and has his own family, but, I have been really thinking about being geographically closer to blood family lately. Dunno.... other than I now have a solid plan and time frame to make significant changes for myself that will result in a much more friendly retirement financially.

Today, I added another dimension to it that involves joint replacement surgeries, but, it just feels like it is time to just deal with this. I have a lot of active years ahead of me (although, life does turn on a dime as I have experienced more than once) and if I need some "bionic" parts to keep active and enjoying life, then, I'm going to just do it!

It's been over 4 years for me since a relationship and although it would be grand to have a sweetie again, I am doing just fine solo. But, I need to get back to dance! Love it and the socializing with those peeps around me.

I have big plans for after my kids are grown and gone. Surprisingly enough, these plans have always been for me "solo"... Its kinda been, if someones around... they can come or they can deal.

I plan on being very active then. Building a Gypsy "vardo" and traveling to Ren Fairs and Medieval Reenactments selling small goods and my fortune selling services. I love to feel free to do what I will and will enjoy the untethered lifestyle.

But for now... I'm content to be where I am. I have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children, my own included. That is something I will always enjoy and treasure.

As for someone else. I decided a while ago that I am happy on my own, having someone else in my life is a joy, a blessing, but not a necessity. I do enjoy friends and social situations though, and I am severely lacking in those of late.

I do enjoy my " me time" right now. I love my friends, my job, and everything that my life has become...

Im happy and have really gotten to a place where I dont want to settle down out of necessity but its something I desire...

I know it will happen when its supposed too... And I refuse to settle for less than what I am looking for.

I enjoy making new friendships, chatting with folks, and dating. Cause when the day happens that "she" walks in and blows me away, and I settle down, I wont get to do these things :)

well currently right now I am single, I am talking to someone but we arent "dating" we have alot of stuff that we need to work on with ourselfs so for now it is friendship. I have known this person for over 3 years. I really dont like being single but it is something I need for now, I do want to meet more people but I am rather shy so I dont really talk to anyone here much.

I, too, think in terms of doing this solo. I am just in the phase of life in which a relationship is just not the main event. I honestly do not see me living with a partner again at all. I enjoyed a 21 year relationship and the last was for 6 years (she died). Both enriched my life. Yet, I know that any relationship presently or in the future would have the same variables as my past ones. I am not in the same developmental space (with the same needs) as when I was in those relationships.

I like having my own home and working on it. LOL... however, I did give my last partner a bedroom and bath of her own to decorate as hers and put th8ings in it of hers even though she didn't live there.

I want to go back to Alaska and be a campground host- or maybe somewhere else for a summer. I like being able to volunteer time to the things I care about. Couldn't when I was working and in practice. And I still want to compete in partner dancing!

Partner dancing sounds like a really fun thing to compete in. I have always loved ball room dancing but never really had an opportunity to learn or practice much. Campground host is another thing I have looked into in the past, and would LOVE to do later in life.

I see myself having the same problem about my space. When I finally get a house of my own... i know it will be MY home, and I wont really care too terribly much who is living there it will be my decisions on things.... lol...

Single here in Ontario, Canada. Went through a bad breakup after a four year relationship/engagement a couple months ago. Not sure I'm looking to get back into a relationship although here I would not even know where to start to meet people. Meeting new friends would be be a great start.

Today...I am content with being with my dogs watching the football game. When I look out my balcony from my 10th floor apartment, I can see across the entire city and the changing colours are so beautiful!

Wow, after spending the last 9 and three-quarter years (but who's counting) coupled to the woman I thought I would grow old with - it's still a bit of a shock to verbalize, write or acknowledge that yep - I'm single again.

I'm a 41 year old, femme-identified mother of one grown son. I work from home for a large IT company and enjoy reading EVERYTHING I get my hands on, writing in my journal, shooting pool in a women's pool league, vegetable/herb gardening, cooking and exercise.

I live in the tiny state of DelaWHERE with my dog Coco and hope to soon get visitation rights to my 3 kitties and my veggie garden...

I think one of the hardest things for me to get used to on a day-to-day basis is what to do with all of the time I have on my hands - now that I'm not taking care of another person. Cooking for one has become interesting, as I'm freeze-packing meals for later (freezer is getting full) and while I've always been pretty tidy in general, my condo is SPOTLESS since I get up at 3am thinking I've forgotten to do something (which I haven't) so I'm up cleaning the bathrooms or the floors AGAIN.

I am trying hard to focus when I find myself in those modes of not knowing what to do and not having a human companion to talk to - for me it's go to the onsite fitness center and ride the bikes or punch the bag (GREAT release) or take my dog to the Bark Park. The Bark Park is nice b/c at least once I'm there, there are LOTS of humans to speak to. My goal is to not isolate, since that is my natural response when I'm hurting - withdraw and suffer alone. It doesn't work for me, even if it is easiest.

Anyway... like I said, talk to us!

Well, if you are feeling like texting friends or other folks is being "burdensome" maybe just make sure that whatever energy you put out there in the text is positive - even if you have to scrounge up the positive energy to create the message. Folks shy away from us when we're hurt, like they are afraid it's a permanent condition or (gasp) contagious! I think that is natural self-protection for some people.

And, with winter coming? I think that your heart may feel good donating your blankies to some agency who needs them. Last year we rounded some up for a local senior center. I haven't crocheted in YEARS but it felt nice knowing where it went! Putting love out into the universe doesn't have to be limited to a partner and I firmly believe that love in ANY form comes back to us... :hangloose:

I think one of the hardest things for me to get used to on a day-to-day basis is what to do with all of the time I have on my hands - now that I'm not taking care of another person. Cooking for one has become interesting, as I'm freeze-packing meals for later (freezer is getting full) and while I've always been pretty tidy in general, my condo is SPOTLESS since I get up at 3am thinking I've forgotten to do something (which I haven't) so I'm up cleaning the bathrooms or the floors AGAIN.

I am trying hard to focus when I find myself in those modes of not knowing what to do and not having a human companion to talk to - for me it's go to the onsite fitness center and ride the bikes or punch the bag (GREAT release) or take my dog to the Bark Park. The Bark Park is nice b/c at least once I'm there, there are LOTS of humans to speak to. My goal is to not isolate, since that is my natural response when I'm hurting - withdraw and suffer alone. It doesn't work for me, even if it is easiest.

Anyway... like I said, talk to us!

What do I like to do on a date lets see maybe go to dinner and take a walk talking about things we have in common, be polite and open the door etc, Well I am a medical assistant just graduated from school and looking for a job!! I am attracted to a butch women or someone who id's as a butch no femmes please...

Before a date, I would hope to know the person well enough that there'd be none of the awkwardness of perhaps, a 'blind date', although I've had fun on those before, usually with another couple or group.


Therefore a 'date' could be just about anything, from a trade show, to an antiquing junket, dinner and a movie, theatre, sporting event, and so on and so forth. The fellowship and good communication, connecting on multiple levels would indicate a great time, regardless of the venue!

What do I like to do on a date?? This is hard because I pretty much like anything. One of my favorite dates is to go to the zoo. I also like going out to eat and then the movies, preferably a comedy.

A date should always make sure to be themselves. There's nothing that a date should remember to do or say with me...just be who they are :)

As for what one thing that I'd like my date to know about me is that I'm very girly.

I am pretty easy going. I like the simple things..dinner..coffee..a bottle of wine and I am happy. I love art galleries, downtown architecture, and live music too. A stroll downtown is perfect for me :) A compliment from my date would be nice. I am a sucker for a good sense of humor and person that takes charge. Intense eyes are a plus! I get painfully shy and extremely nervous on dates ( i hate that about me) But once I warm up, I'm all yours :)

I generally like going to a resturuant to talk and get to know each other. Picnic dates are good in the botanical gardens. As long as Im not in a club or in a movie for a first date Im fine.

A woman, mom and I want to learn something new every day.

A peaceful existance, filled with good friends, great books, my sweet cats and a possible lover in the future. I must admit I have not been looking or even interested for a few years now. Had to do some work on me with trust issues. Trusting others and trusting my own judgement were my issues which are now happily resolved. I am ready now.

I already have what I need. What I want is a partner that loves to travel (internationally is awsome), who enjoys similar things, who is well read and at the same time still enjoys being a kid at times. Love, which I still believe in.

I love to cook though I do not do it often. Cooking for one is boring. I do love to prepare Hispanic food like arroz con pollo, arapes, pandlitos de queso, buenolos, frijoles negros con arroz (moros) and plantains frita and fried sweet plantains as well. I love to prepare food from the Middle East and enjoy eating Greek food too.

This topic has taken off and I am enjoying reading here.

I do have children though they have homes and families of their own. I love the grandchildren especially the ones who have not reached puberty yet. The innocents and most loveable.

My life long preference is butches. They made my heart flutter and my face blush since I was a young girl. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings here as I love all of ya'll.

Be polite, enjoy paticipating in conversations (please don't let the femmes do all the talking), opening doors is nice and I enjoy feeling safe with my date.

I would love my date to ask questions about me. As I would do with my date; to find common interests.

Usually tall, dark hair and handsome. Though looks are not that much of the equation. Being sure of oneselve without being cocky is a turn on. And a person who is interested in me is a good thing too.

Like to tell you all a story of what happened to me last night.
Last night I had to work late. I met a friend in a rest stop near my home to pick up a shirt she bought. Before she got there I was sitting in my truck and this guy pulls up next to me. He looked like a serial killer right out of the movies. He gets out of his car and stands there and stares at me. Gave me the creeps. So I asked him "What's up Buddy" He asked me if I was Kevin. I said no and he said are you sure. I said yeah. He got back in his car and just sat there. Then my friend finally pulls up on the other side of me and I told her about this guy on the other side that was creepy. I wanted to make it quick. What does she do. She proceeds to take her time and look through all her bags for the shirt then searches in her handbag for the receipt. It did not faze her. I was thinking what is her problem?
Well that concludes my night out in Jersey. Have to get ready for work. Talk to you all later I hope.

I am 36 years old and I will be turning 37 in December. I don't have any children, just four nephews and two nieces, who I spoil like they are my kids. I like to date people around my age or just a little older. I can honestly say, I have never dated a transman, I have friends who are, and I have dated both male id'd and female id'd butches. I am currently in college working on my second bachelors degree in nursing. My first bachelor's degree is in computer programming and web design. I noticed folks saying that it is difficult to find femmes or butches in their particular area, even if it is a well known or close to a well known "queer" mecca. I live about 30 miles from Ptown so I know what you mean.

One of the problems I have as a butch who likes femmes, is my gaydar is differently abled. If I think someone is queer, they arent. If I think they arent, they are. If I think someone is flirting with me, they arent. If they are flirting with me, I am oblivious to it. :seeingstars:

So, my suggestion for a topic today is how can impaired butches like myself distinguish a queer femme from a straight femme in everyday living?

I have a similar problem. I am a femme and MOST people just assume I am straight! Blah!!! So I have no idea. Useless here, but totally one of my biggest frustrations. Now I know that it would be easy for me to spot a Butch and chat it up, BUT so not easy for me. I am far too clumsy and shy to have any "game" lol

I wish I could give you idea's on how to tell a Femme but most people think I'm straight. The only time people realize that I'm queer is when I'm on the arm of a Butch. I think this is a common thing for most Femme's.

I have this problem as well. Also I am in a small community where it is very conservative. There are no "Gay" clubs to go to to meet people, and not many butches, most here just identify as lesbian.

Hello Singles :) I went to church today and met my very first gf there. :) I hadnt seen her since the death of my mom 10 years ago. It was good to see her but it was like seeing an old friend. :) Of course she has changed alot and I have too. But it was a good visit. As was the service.

I also had a femme approach me at church and tell me how nice I looked and gave me a hug ( im uncomfortable with people hugging me if I dont know you lol) but hug she did and then tell me how nice I smelled. After she walked away my first gf looked at me and said, your so funny LOL She was totally hitting on you... I said, OH? I thought she was just being nice paying me a compliment LOL That's my 2x4 self coming out LOL

I am the one who usually cooks in my house. My best friend has two small children, so I cook dinner. One of my fave dishes to make is homemade chili during the winter time...Very yummy...I also like to make Spongy Cake from scratch during the holidays. One dish that I have just learned how to cook is, Chicken Marsala from scratch...

I have been doing microbiology homework and then I am off to do anatomy and physiology homework, I have a midterm on the 15th for the lab part and my lecture midterm is on the 18th.

One dish that I have just learned how to cook is, Chicken Marsala from scratch...

I have been doing microbiology homework and then I am off to do anatomy and physiology homework, I have a midterm on the 15th for the lab part and my lecture midterm is on the 18th.

Sounds like South Beach in Miami. I was born and raised in the Daytona Beach area for about 25 years and when I moved back to the East Coast in March, I couldn't believe how much it had changed. All of the places that I remember as a child were gone or just not the same anymore. Now I miss living in Orlando where I lived for seven years prior to moving to Seattle in February. Boston is a gorgeous town, I lived there eleven years ago, but I had to move back to Florida when my dad got sick.

LBI is beautiful. There are multi million dollar homes on the beach. It is a happening place in the summer. There are some really great restaurants also. Thanks Zimmy for looking it up. Right now it is very quiet.

Your dinner sounds good. I had pizza for dinner tonight. I hate cooking for just me. Hopefully one day, I'll have a wonderful Butch to cook for.

Well if you lived closer you could have come over. I do not like to cook for just one also but it beats fast food. If I was a millionaire I would hire someone to cook. That would be awesome.

Hi cuddlyfemme, how's your weekend going?

I put 90 or 95% lean hamburger, mild chili beans, red kidney beans, mild chili seasoning powder and onions. If you let it sit over night and have a bowl the next day, it will put a hurting on you, hehe...My old roommate in Orlando is from Long Island, NY and I made chili one night and the boy ate the whole pot. I love lasagna, but I cannot eat a lot of it. I have a condition similar to h.Pylori, it is an infection of the stomach lining and if I eat to much tomato sauce, I will become sick. Do you add Sharp cheddar cheese to your chili? I love having fresh bread with real butter with it to. Spongy cake is a family tradition in my family. It is delicious and easy to make. I also love making homemade corn bread when I was a kid..I would help my grandmother make it...I unfortunately never got the recipe from her before she passed away..

Since I have my first bachelor's degree, I cut most of my gen ed studies in half. The college just switched me from an AA degree to the pre-BSN course of study, so I am thinking another year to eighteen months at the most. I am loving my classes and the fact that I will be a registered nurse when it is all done is even better...I am hoping to go work for the new VA hospital that is being built in the Lake Nona area of Orlando...
I will definately make my mom proud. Out of the four kids she had, I am the only one who graduated from high school, graduated from college with my first bachelor's degree and I am currently working on my second bachelor's degree...I am thinking of maybe pursuing my Physician's Assistant degree after this...Who knows, but I am definately going to visit a friend in Ireland once I am done...
