Last time I posted in here My friend Bleu was a reluctant femme. Well now I am a reluctant single again but not sad or mad or anything. So with the weekend approaching and Sept. 30 not here yet (return of Dexter) is there by any chance any scary movie or true crime buffs around. I promise to be the gallant knight and cover your eyes during the really scary parts. No seriously I love movies even been known to do the trade off of I will watch one of her chossing if she will watch one of Mine.

Good Morning to all the singles. For those that do not know Me please just call Me Alix. I have been single awhile now. Longer then some may think but I was not ready to make it official until today. When I was pretty sure I could do the flirting dating dance again. Also figured it was a good time since E/everyone accept Me is busy getting ready for the big weekend. I am not usually posting this early but I have been experiencing a case of insomnia off and on recently. Maybe being single so long is why. I rarely go into chat. Not cause I am unsocial or shy but simply because these fingers of Mine were made for many things however typing fast is not one of them.

Well, I may have an ulcer..so going to see a specialist on October 18th to figure it all out. Not anemic, not bleeding anymore (thank you aloe gel). More medicine in the mean time. I hope they figure it out. I have burnt my vocal cords and I have a concert in Dec. sigh.

Ive been to a les club a few times in philly..I think it was sisters..I had fun and there were alot of nice yummy woman there...My godfather lives in Philly down the street from UPENN..So he was sokind to drive me over to the club.

I met a woman who was all into me last night. Dancing, asked me out before 10 minutes was up. After a couple emails she says that I am ok, (I guess,) but the fact that my mother shares my home (mind you she is independent, healthy, is not here 2x's a week, very accepting of me and my friends/gf etc) and that I have a dog... well, that put the brakes on it. Wow... really?

Oh well, such is my love life recently....

on top of that, my dog has been ill the last 24 hours. Was trying to figure it out... finally I realized my mother had given her a steak bone from her dinner last night. Bella has a very sensitive tummy and cannot eat but very spacific things. So here I am, up late, washing her bedding, cooking rice and will have to get up early to cook her chicken (had to get it out of the freezer and is just starting to thaw) so she can have it for breakfast. She is still throwing up. I am exhausted! Only had Sunday afternoon off from working and will work straight through to the weekend. 2 jobs on tues and thursday. urrrrggggg

Hi Ruthie and you know what although it is sad what that women did better you find out now right? After all your mom and your dog are part of who you are and you should never nobody should ever give up part of who they are....
I am sorry to hear about your poor dog but what you are doing shows how special and good of a person you are. I used to have to do rice all the time when I had a my Husky Jordan and boy do I miss my animals now that I live some where that I can not have pets but good for you for taking care of the doggie.

From what I have learned and have to keep telling myself is that you, I, all the other singles will meet someone when we least expect to. It is that person that will not care about all the other stuff. Have a wonderful week Ruthie!!

Hey singles folks! What are you all up to this fall season? I just finished putting together facebook invites for four haunted hayrides/houses in the area. I'm thinking they might be a fun way to get singles together, AND to get all spooked out!

Scandy andy.. YES WE DO! I am going to outfest on Sunday and the ladies 2000 dance after that at topdog!

Spent most of the night with my Bella. Changing the towels in her crate as she soiled them, giving her comfort and making rice and chicken. I eventually went to bed because I thought it had calmed down, but when I got up this morning there was more. So more laundry this morning. She is much better! Has not had any problems today... ate her chicken and rice. Tomorrow if she continues to be well I will add sweet potato. Slowly wean her back onto her food. Mom is taking her to the vet on thursday because we got her a year ago.. we were told she was 4 1/2 years old, and now she is totally blind from catteracts (sp?).. she is also having joint troubles. So no, I don't believe she is that young. More like 13 or so. I am just soooooooooooo glad her tummy troubles cleared up and we believe we know what caused them. Shew...

Spent most of the night with my Bella. Changing the towels in her crate as she soiled them, giving her comfort and making rice and chicken. I eventually went to bed because I thought it had calmed down, but when I got up this morning there was more. So more laundry this morning. She is much better! Has not had any problems today... ate her chicken and rice. Tomorrow if she continues to be well I will add sweet potato. Slowly wean her back onto her food. Mom is taking her to the vet on thursday because we got her a year ago.. we were told she was 4 1/2 years old, and now she is totally blind from catteracts (sp?).. she is also having joint troubles. So no, I don't believe she is that young. More like 13 or so. I am just soooooooooooo glad her tummy troubles cleared up and we believe we know what caused them. Shew...

My Mom took Bella to the vet today. Gave her medicine for arthritis...says her knee cap keeps slipping in and out..may need surgery in the future. Said it's hard to tell her age because her teeth are in such good shape (sound familiar) but that she is definately older than 5, but also said younger dogs can get cataracts.. Who knew? So we are guessing she is about 9. She also had an ear infection that was giving her a tiny fever... so medicine for that as well. Poor girl, she won't go out in the dark in the backyard to do her business by herself anymore. Dr. said that was bc of her cataracts as well. Poor baby, hoping her ears clear up soon!

Me, I'm taking my meds and my stomach is still hurting.. urggg. Can't wait to see the dr to find out what exactly is going on. OH well, down 15lbs since the end of August... that's my silver lining!!! lolol.

See the specialist for my stomach on thursday. My family dr was so concerned that she called them and asked them to move up my appt. THANK GOODNESS! I am so tired of this, and just plain tired. I had a 7am dentist appt. this morning. The hygienist poked around at my gums. She hit one area where I felt it in my eyeball!!!!! Then she asked me if that really hurt. I told her no I am just making noise for the full effect of the exam. She laughed. She asks me: So how is the flossing going? I reply with my hand going back and forth "Eh". She then tells me: " Only floss the teeth you want to keep" :seeingstars: I guess I will have to do all of them!

Friday night I might to go a contra dance- depends on a few things here and there.

Saturday is a local tour of solar powered houses in my area. Some of my friends are showing their houses so I'm going to go visit with them. There's a local cyclocross event I might swing by after that.

Sunday I teach distance learning from 8am-4pm, quick dinner break, then take my daughter to perform in a haunted house theater production.

Also need to squeeze in time to prep for a class I'm teaching on Monday. It's sold out, which is awesome. Means that one night of work will pay my mortgage for the month. Love when that happens.

Contra dances are SOOOO fun. How to describe.
Okay it's a little bit similar to square dancing, in that there is generally live music on a stage and a dance caller. However, rather than being in a four couple square formation, you are with a partner in a long line of partners. Every other couple is either number 1 or number 2 alternating as you go down the line. Ones progress down the line away from the stage, twos progress up the line toward the stage. When you reach the end of the line you switch number- if you were a 1 you are now a 2, and back again.
You're progressing with dance steps, you usually do a round of like, 6-8 dance steps with your partner and your corresponding 1 or 2 and then progress in your direction and do the same steps with that new partnership.
Usually the caller calls for the first maybe 8 rounds and then you're expected to memorize it. If folks start messing up a lot the caller usually jumps in with a reminder call.

It's a very old traditional form of dance which has been embraced by many generations. Not only is it super fun in nature, but participants in many areas have also evolved with it so that anyone can lead, anyone can follow, men rock twirly skirts, and fun is had by all. It's also started turning into a techno craze where it's electrified with techno music.

Confusing to write descriptions. Here's a video of one of my favorite contra bands performing at the dance festival we're been talking about over in the Hobbies discussion area. Get past the first 1:45 min and you see the dancing. But these guys rock on the music so enjoy them too.

Morning singles. I went to a women of color singles mingle last night... that was fun. Getting to know a nice woman... we shall see.

Dr is sending me Monday for an ultrasound of my stomach and then tuesday he is doing an endoscopy. Hopefully we can finally figure out what the heck is wrong with my stomach. Going to try hard boiled eggs for lunch and see how that goes. I woke up this morning with a cold. A lot of kids in my class have it, but I usually don't get them. I haven't been able to take my vitamins the dr has me on to fight them soooo... here I am sick. I had acupuncture this morning and went to the last half of a rehearsal. Can't sing yet bc the stomach issues has left my vocal cords burnt. Using holistic stuff to heal them up. They should get better after they fix my stomach.

I was supposed to go to the Witches ball tonight (basically a holloween party in a small town) but it is outside. It is cold here today and I don't think that would be a good idea considering how I feel. Walking around in the cold doesn't sound appealing. Oh well, next year maybe I'll make it.

Not doing well today. Legs and back have been aching a lot the last few days. Thought it was related to my cold, but maybe I am lacking a nutrient because of my stomach issues. Down another 4 lbs this week, so that is 23 in all in the last 8 weeks. Normally, I would think that is great, but not this way. Sigh, Going to take a shower and hope that helps some. Then I'm going to relax and try to rest. 1st test tomorrow morning. At least I will be LOOKING good! lol

Burr what a wet and chilly Tuesday!

Just when I was getting use to it being warm after that cold front, Florida decides to take its winter coat off and allow the cold to enter. As much as I complain about the cold, it is a nice change from the warm summer we had.

Well, I have been busy as hell and not on for some time, but I miss chatting on here, so I guess I need to make more of an effort to log on from time to time.

For those who have asked, mom is doing well. The Alzheimer's is slowly progressing, but she is OK. If I can keep her away form the candy and sugar, she does much better. She has given up almost any veggie and all salad. Not sure how to over come that. But, I have hopes that she will change her tastes about that soon.

I took her to Disney for 2 day last month. She had a blast. We went to the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and she was like a kid. Trick or Treating at Disney made her very happy! She cried when we had to leave. It was cute but sad. So, I have made more arrangements to take her back in Dec.. I have been Ebaying lots of things to come up with the money for the trip. Because of the wheelchair and her disease, we have to stay on the monorail resorts, which can be pretty pricey. Plus, I am trying to take her to dinner shows and such. I mean honestly, I am not sure what the future holds, so I am trying to go all out, just in case she does not get to go back.

School is going well. I am finishing my first term of my Doctoral Program at Nova and am excited to be on this journey. Although it is not really the program I wanted to be in, it allows for me to continue to care for mom. Her care is most important and I am studying something close to what I wanted.

Anyway, if any of you are down at Disney the week before Christmas, feel free to look us up.

Tomorrow night, going to see a play/production of a People's History if of the United States (Zinn). A friend of mine directed it. I'm pretty excited. I love learning/reliving history through Zinn.

Saturday is catch up day! NANOWRIMO pounding, some errands, etc.

Sunday is a work/teaching day for me- but after this Sunday I only have 4 more teaching Sundays and then this contract is over and I am not renewing it. Whoot!

The storm has taken all of my time. My family has been without power since Sandy hit. They are cold and without gas. I saw a sign on one of the houses on thier street. It said "Sandy you Bit.." I thought it has been like a woman who took everthing from you and left you to carry on.
Then we had a snow storm. Then I think to myself.... Is the end coming? We are just getting pounded. I call it the war zone. Houses in neighborhoods deserted. With contents of once homes out on the street as garbage now. No hope of when the electric will come back. Taking showers in the local gym. Walmart had no food in thier freezers and coolers for days. I have never seen it empty. People fighting for gas and food. It is a war zone and the images I have seen and felt are forever with me.
And I am single! No one to love me through this hell.....

Sunny, thats terrible :( I can totally understand why these images will stay in your mind. As you know, I used to live in Northern VA but then moved to SC, this is the only time that I'm glad that I'm in SC even though I know that NOVA didn't get much of the storm. I hope people get their electricity back on soon, WalMart gets more food and the gas fighting is over soon. I do understand about not having someone to love you through the hell you are going through but you are a special guy and deserve a special femme...I know she's out there somewhere for you
