Myra is feeling much better and nearly back to her old self again, thank G-d. She had been sick for nearly a month and not eating, so I had to resort to tube feeding her a couple of times. She didn't like that and neither did I. :|

This is her this morning, up on the top ledge with her honey, Mr. Ivan, whom she is grappling with for space under the basking lamp above. Myra and Ivan are practically inseparable, but while she was sick, Myra kept her distance, preferring to sit by herself on one of the lower ledges.

4PM date wit the real estate dude to look at this house really want to see what the inside looks like it has been on the market a while but got good news about the neighborhood wish it really was not in the city but better to be close to work at least for now

finishing a loathsome project i started eons ago. running 4.5 miles with the old olive girl. packing school lunches for the wee ones. :)

I visited a close friend who is recovering from surgery - 4 discs in her neck. I cooked her a home made peach pie and a dozen of those GRAND buttermilk biscuits in the plastic bag you find in frozen sector at grocery store. I was mowing the lawn while the pie was cooking ... became skerred that I would burn the pie so I paused the mowing, went inside and turrned the stove on much lower. (bad move) Ended up cooking the pie 45 minutes longer because I thought it was not done. When I was at her house preparing bowls of hot pie for us, I had to get a knife to cut the dumplings out. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites - too tough to chew. She ate all of hers and just bragged on it. I had to smile to myself because I knew she was lying - being nice because she knows I am not much of a cook. Plus, if I did not eat mine - there is your sign. That chit was like chewing on peach freaking flavored saddle leather - no exaggeration. :(

The biscuits were perfect. :)

This is kind of weird, but I have these two plastic drink buckets, the kind you put ice in to keep multiple beverages cold that I found on the side of the road. I planted potatoes in them and then did the thing where you let them grow, then put more dirt in them, repeat. The buckets are now filled with soil and the foliage is really healthy, one of them has started to bloom.

So, I was out there watering them, smiling because I had a vision of 50lb of potatoes in each bucket when it's time to harvest.

Received a call for a store supervisor position, had to ask for one next week because it falls on the gf's surgery date and I ain't having none of that!

She sends me flowers, had them delivered to me today with the note, "I miss you mi novia" which is "I miss you my girlfriend" in Spanish. So I'm sitting on my patio eating breakfast. A tunafish and bacon sandwich on toast (yum) and the cutest little head poked around the side of the house and looked straight me. A little puppy. He was so freakin cute. He came bounding up to me, a little sheepish at first. I fed him half of my sandwich . He couldn't have been more than 6-8 weeks old. Gave him some water but he didn't drink it. Someone is going be looking for him for sure. He was not very hungry or thirsty, so I guess he didn't wonder too far. And his fur was very clean and no fleas or ticks. He spotted a turtle in the grass and just sat staring at it for a long time. Barked a little too. Then he fell asleep on my feet. So cute.

Yesterday, I posted the above in reference to two wonderful people that have hearts of gold... I had very timidly asked if I could borrow one of their cars this weekend because mine is having issues and I'm scared to drive it (Chevy dealers have been a HUGE pain in the ass to get ANYTHING fixed under warranty)... without hesitation, they granted permission as if they had full trust in me.

Today, on the way to dinner, they GAVE me the car "for a dollar". Their generosity made me hold back tears.

My life is so very blessed to have such caring, awesome people that "have my back".

I'm still in SHOCK of their generosity and in shock that I can FINALLY get rid of that THORN IN MY SIDE, POC Chevy Aveo.

I don't know how I'm gonna pay them back, but they have certainly earned their wings in my view.

Tomorrow is my birthday and the one year anniversary that my gf and I've been together, but we can't get together tomorrow so she took me out to lunch today. She surprised me by taking me to a Mediterranean restaurant, I loved it!

When we were almost done eating she hands me a little silver box as she smiles the most loving smile I've ever seen. My heart jumps as I open it. Inside I find a beautiful silver, woven cross with a diamond in the middle. It was perfect. The chain it was on is so delicate she bought a warranty for it! I was in awe...I still am.

I was cleaning out the garage yesterday and found these 2 singing and dancing hamsters :badger: that my ex gave me (not real ones!, they are toys with a battery that makes them gyrate and sing). One sings "I think I love you" (by the Partridge Family--I loved that song) and the other sings "That's Amore". I actually flirted with someone today!

I've been a bit gun-shy lately - it seems I'm sending the wrong signals or misreading other people's signals. Add the pressures of my new-ish job, the killer commute, and stress with my roomate's (straight guy) girlfriend and you've got lonely ol' me!

But today on the train I noticed when a woman boarded. She has reddish brown hair (my weakness, apparently), was carrying a really cool messenger bag and sat a few seats away from me. She pulled out an ebook and didn't notice me stealing glances at her for the next 45 minutes.
After we got off the train, as we were walking along the platform - I was trying to think of something to say. We were outside before I got up the courage to ask about her messenger bag. We had a little chat - nothing much. I mean, I don't even know anything about her - she could be straight or married or a serial killer.
But I put myself out there. And it felt good.

So, I thought I had major repairs that needed to be done to my car several mechanics later... Totally 500-700 Dollars. I was lost wondering what to do. I dont have that kind of money just lying around ya know. Took car in this morning to a friend of a friend and its a 4.08 cent part! Woooo HOO!! He ordered the part from Chrysler and it will be here Monday and it will only cost me 45.00 to fix it! I am so ecstatic :)

Ok also, Simon got to spend his day at the puppy spa and he looks cuter than ever.. :)

I got a haircut and picked up my smell good today :)

Oh, and I got a year supply of my contacts for only 50.00!

Thinking about yesterday and last night. Today is our one year wedding anniversary, but yesterday, Pup had a grand day planned. We went for a couples massage, then a nice dinner, then home to the surprise of three small cakes, each one matching one of the tiers of our wedding cake a year ago.

Then we popped the cork on the bottle of Pink Label Veuve Clicquot that Pup's brother gave us for a wedding present that we have been saving for this occasion and spent a nice evening together reminiscing our wedding day, complete with watching the wedding video and looking at pictures.

It was a fantastic first wedding anniversary. I'd marry her again ten times over if I could! Life is good! :)

Today, several times I thought about my older brother. 32 years ago today he committed suicide. I still miss him terribly, but today I smiled as I thought about the days with him when I was a child. He was fourteen years my senior and it was always very cool when he would come home, take me for rides in his Volkswagen beetle, turn me on to new music (this is where my love of classic rock came from) and just be a great big brother. RIP Mike; I miss you but I'll always have my fond memories of you, and they will always make me smile.
