A lovely surprise flower delivery. It's been forever since I've gotten flowers and that gesture is just never wasted on me.
And, lighting the string of fairy lights tonight, that I put up on the patio today. Fairy lights just make everything better.

moe I don't know if she ever sleeps as when I am with her she tires me out big time. I have never seen a child so busy doing nothing LOL. I love her to pieces and every time we skype she tells me she loves me too so what else do we need to make us smile.
The love from strangers makes me smile. I picked up my kitty's ashes and the young man ran to me. Who knew that strangers could give so much love. When the baby died I felt so much love from the vet staff. We the people help each other. :cowboy:

Chad I am so sorry for your loss. I worked almost 13 years at a vet clinic and I saw the anguish some people went through from the loss of a beloved pet. So much love is given by our babies and we have no problem giving it back. It is a mutual love in. I have lost many myself but please take a moment to remember the wonderful times you had together and the love you shared. We who have pets or have had them in the past realize their true value, not as a commodity or status symbol but as a friend and companion.

I have had this black cat with huge green eyes visiting the front porch for a while. I think it's a She, and she is skinny as all get up. Sooo, I put some food out. And again. And again. She has become so loving, I'm surprised. She is craving attention. Well, I'm on my second bag of food for her. I think I'm going to name her.
I tend to name my pets around what's going on in my life. So Thanksgiving..umm and she is so sweet..sweet potatoes come to mind. Better yet...marshmallows usually go on top of sweet potatoes. So the new black cat is Marshmallow. Marsha for short.
Jelly bean inside and Marshmallow outside. They have spied each other thru the windows. So far so good..smiling

Before Christmas I went to the library to reserve a book I wanted to read. I was number 2.
Today, I stopped at the library to find out the status. Well, my email address was incorrectly entered. You know zeros vs O's.
So today I had 3 choices.
Download the book. ..umm no, I know I would never read, I'd get distracted.
Be number 15 on the wait list.
Or, check out the book club version. Which is 15 copies to share with your book club. Lol, who knew they had this feature?? Lol

What I saw looking out the kitchen window to the pond behind our house where half of the pond has a thin layer of ice and the other half is open. Hard to believe but I saw three mallards, two males and a female! I smiled and dragged Bevi into the kitchen to see, told Bevi's son who lives next door to grab his 5 year old son and look out the window. A winter treat to be sure. It was a late start but a pretty fabulous morning. My son and I went out yesterday to do a little bargain hunting but got behind, so went out again today. I found an Avocado box spring and mattress set, less than a year old, in excellent condition it must have been an open box or return. It didn't come with their headboard/frame/foot board but have a used set that will work. It is so comfortable, so sturdy. My son is super happy, he's been at me to get a bed now for years and years, especially after surgery. He kept insisting, I kept resisting. I guess I just don't like to admit that I'm not as tough as I used to be. Anyhow, Monte has given it a test drive, turned up his nose, he doesn't seem to be happy at all about the upgrade.

I use to live in Mississauga (just outside Toronto) and on the news was the 100th birthday of the ex mayor who retired at the age of 94. Noone would run against her as she could not be outvoted in 36 yrs. Longest running mayor. Hurricane Hazel we called her. This wonderful woman built the city of Mississauga and got an art museum and skating arena for the people. She was loved by most who knew her. I met her twice and was honored to do so. All 4'10'' of her was amazing. I hope this wonderful woman lives at least 10 yrs more for sure and beyond that if it is meant to be. She was born on valentines day and had the biggest heart.
A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY Madam and may you have many many more.

When is the Snow Moon?
In 2021, the Snow Moon will occur on the evening of Feb. 26 through the morning of Feb. 27. It will reach peak illumination at 3:17 a.m. EST on the 27th. The moon will rise around sunset, reach the highest point in the sky around midnight (roughly 65 degrees above the horizon, depending on your latitude), and set around dawn.

I saw family at the grocery store today! It's rare in my parts to do so. Not only that, but she was an adorably lanky, geeky very tall floppy-haired super cute young butch. Girrrl, if I was 20 years younger....
Anyway, she asked a grocery stocker where something was and the lady didn't know (this particular lady doesn't really talk to people much...I tried once and it was like trying to pull silk from a brick...not happening) but I did so I piped up and told her where to go. She said thanks and started to walk in the direction I pointed her but turned back and asked about something else so I told her where that was too and she was gone again.
As I went down an aisle and up another, I saw the item she was looking for and it was the only one on the rack so I grabbed it in case I saw her again and eventually I did. This time she was being led around by a clueless middle management guy so I held the package up so she could see it. She cracked me up, she was so appreciative. Hey, when you have a craving, you have a craving! It's a shame that I don't actually work at that store because I'm pretty sure I would have gotten a raise.

That sounds so idyllic. My future Mother-in-law LOVES roosters and hens. I made some original artwork, mixed media, on a chunk of pine wood, so she can have it on her deck at home. She'll be nice and comfy and then he'll come along and jump up and sit on her or push her over until she jumps down. Total asshat! Today, I saw her return the favor and she knocked him off the tree. Ha! Go girl!
Loki's 20 lbs and is about 3 feet long so he's a big guy and Gracie's only 7.5 lbs and maybe half as long as him. She's the tiniest full grown kitty I've ever had. He uses his size to intimidate and bully her sometimes and I always get a kick out of it when she stands up for herself and gives it back to him. He always has a WTF? face afterwards that is priceless.

It was yesterday, but I am still smiling: The huge show of appreciation that was given to me yesterday at work. A beautiful card signed by 15 people on my work campus and the lovely vegan chocolate truffles made by Missionary Chocolatiers and other things included inside the card. Omg, I was so surprised. I feel so loved and appreciated by the people who surprised me with their generous show of appreciation. :stillheart: :hk28:

A bittersweet phone call with my 9 year old nephew.
He had texted me asking for stories about his Dad because he was really missing him. So I called him and told him a slew of silly stories about his Daddy. It was good to laugh together over memories and hearing him learn about what kind of relationship my brother and I had as kids.
Then, Nephew was talking about some school bullies and the subject of him being called Gay came up and he told me that he knows I'm gay and he loves me and supports me and would never judge me for being gay. He was so sincere and sweet. I told him I knew he would be that way because he's just like his daddy and his daddy was the first person I ever told that I was gay and he was just as kind and supportive when I told him.
I get to have lunch with both Nephews today and I'm super looking forward to that.

I had a GREAT day today! It's my last weekday off for the foreseeable future so I took advantage of it. I got over 8 hours of sleep, took my time washing my hair and getting ready, making breakfast and taking care of the babies. I adulted and paid bills, then went to my hair appointment and had a great time at the salon.
It's new to me but I think I'm going to keep going there. The staff is funny and nice, the other customers chatted me up and I even ran into a customer from work. One of the stylists is a major multi-tasker and had 3 customers at the same time! That was interesting to watch but she staggered them so there wasn't any wasted time. Clever.
I did some shopping and picked something up for the babies and was home in time for a decent dinner. I found the happy in everything I experienced today. That doesn't happen often so I thoroughly enjoyed my day.
Moving with my wife this weekend. NO! MORE! "weekends only".
I generally always find something to smile about, anyway!

Well, now. That's not the right attitude! I flirt with everyone. I can't help it; it's like a tick that kicks in automatically. Makes life more interesting, especially when I come across someone that will give it right back and knows it's all in good clean fun. Maybe it's all my years in customer service since you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar and most people respond positively to a little bit of light teasing. I dunno. My mom used to tell me tales of when she would take me shopping with her and I'd crawl onto the conveyer belt and start singing to the cashier. Tales. As in, apparently it happened a LOT. *shrug*
I was helping an older couple in their 80s a while back and I said something and then winked at the gentleman (like 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge' kind of thing) and he said I shouldn't do that because he'll leave his wife and take me to Tahiti. She was standing right there! lol She then says that he's an old fart and wouldn't know what to do with such a young thing as me and I'd be better off going to Bora Bora with HER. It was a scream. When they see me now, they still fuss over me and who is going to get to take me on vacation. They are some of my favorite customers. I love the saucy types!
Today is going to be one giant smile for me because I have it OFF!!!! I don't have to put make up on. Shoot, I don't even have to get dressed. I fully expect to be in my pajamas all day! I do have to do some chores but I'm not on a time clock so it's a slow pace for me today, which is also smile inducing. I get to have the rest of my sushi (that picture you couldn't see, Stone) and I even weighed in a pound less than yesterday. All good things!

Kalamazoo Hockey Team Paints Ice Rainbow
3dGrlbvhP5I
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dGrlbvhP5I
Home ice for the Kalamazoo Wings was dyed a different color on Friday.
The K-Wings said the game against the Toledo Walleye is the first professional hockey game on rainbow ice.
“In partnership with the NHL for Hockey is for Everyone,” Toni Will, K-Wings general manager, said.
Will said the initiative and the rainbow-colored ice opened the doors for fans and players to open their minds.
“Hockey truly is for everyone, it doesn’t matter your race, your religion, your sexual orientation,” said Will.
Fans said its a creative way to show inclusivity and diversity being celebrated in the sport.
“It means we’re kind of progressing, being able to show equality in ice and representing that-- is really cool,” said Madison Hayes.
“Hockey really is for everyone, I play with a lot of people that come from a lot of different backgrounds, it’s a great sport and its very accepting,” said Jeff Masternak.
The rainbow ice game was the first of five times the ice will be colored at Wings Event Center during the K-Wings season. The next one is set for Feb. 11 when the ice will be dyed pink.
The K-Wings are famous for the team's colored ice games, and always draw big crowds. The team is encouraging fans to mask up with coronavirus infections spreading rapidly in Michigan.
“I feel like it’s really not that big of a deal to have something over your face, so other people can enjoy things and live life the normal way,” said Hayes.
“We’re aware of everything that’s happening, we trust that the messaging we’re putting out there, of telling people, come wear your mask-- it’s going to be safe, they’re coming at their own risk,” said Will.

I fit into a pair of Vera Wang size 8 pants today. Granted, there was more spandex in them than Botox in Los Angeles and I looked like sausage in a casing but, dammit, I fit into them. They were pulled ALLLL the way up, buttoned and zipped and everything. I could breathe just fine and the seams weren't even stretched out!

I so get that smile. It's the face you make in the dressing room mirror! It's the selfie you take!
Congrats! Definitely a smile you earn. I'm proud of you!

I'm proud of me too! I didn't buy them, not because I didn't like them, but because they were a metallic wine color and I have nothing to wear them with but the point is, I got them up!
I'm having more of those moments, which always seem to catch me by surprise and definitely make me smile.
Congrats on your size jump!!! It's a wonderful feeling to go, oh, I guess I need new pants because THESE aren't working anymore. Not for the pocketbook, but a good feeling for the soul.

The kids are on their way here. Should be about an hour and a half. I haven't seen them since last year. The little one will get a second Xmas when she gets her stocking and gifts lol. Kids don't care for time or dates but they love unwrapping gifts. I can't wait for them to get here. Smile, smile, smile.

Finishing up with inventory and realizing I have met my first goal. I might not have exactly what I want but I have what I truly need and the peace of mind that comes along with having it. It was such a sense of satisfaction, stepping back taking a look at my work and seeing how much I've accomplished. It put a huge smile on my face.

I was told today I was the most patient customer he had talked to all day. Ok, probably says that to everyone, but still, I should have taken a screenshot. When does anyone ever call me patient, lol.
It's amazing how many times Infinity can screw up my new service before my internet is even activated. It's been a huge nightmare but everyone I talk to is nice and tries to help. They sent my equipment to the wrong address, scheduled a technician even though I'm doing self-install, canceled my service and had to set up my account again, and the self-installation app was not working at all. Other than that it's been great. Fingers crossed it works. I need the internet for all my work.

I finally have electricity and internet at my new place! It took far too much effort and raising hell than it should have.
It took them 4 days and me raising absolute hell to finally get my electricity turned on. I have always gotten it same day or the next day in the past. Fortunately, I did get a very helpful rep on the phone who made sure it got done.
As for internet, good lord the comedy of errors from Comcast Xfinity was absolutely unreal. I have never experienced so much incompetence and errors in my life. After the second time that a tech was supposed to come out to establish the outside connection did not show, I gave up. I am canceling. I called the local service called Yucca and I literally had internet service within 15 minutes. I just called them on the phone, got my plan set up, went and picked up the router at the local office which is just a few blocks from my house, came home and plugged in my router and I had service. It just absolutely amazing the contrast between the two companies. I will be paying quite a bit more per month which is a drag but at least with them right down the street I should be able to get issues resolved quickly if they arise. That's important to me since I earn all my money online.
I still have more stuff to move and clean the old house so this weekend will be busy. But I have everything I need in place at my new house and I am very happy about it.

Glad you have service and can make some mo-nay.
Today, my smile inducer was Gracie. I have two cats that cannot be fed together. Loki eats everything and Gracie is subservient to him so she just walks away and doesn't get to eat otherwise. So, he gets some alone time in the bathroom and she and I get some one on one personal time while I put down the food for her. When she's done, she comes to get me and then it's treat time. I think she looks forward to this the most. Even more than wet food, so that's saying a lot, and I have a ball with it too.
Gracie is my predator. She eats all the little bugs and spiders and whatnot that come inside and are not welcome so she's got a good prey drive. I make a game of tossing treats to her and making her chase them. She's got good reflexes and does a killer impression of Patrick Roy (look him up).
Today, she was especially playful, which means she would block the treat but then start to bat it around and she went all over the place with them before eating each piece. She got so invested in the game that she actually fluffed up her tail at one of the pieces that didn't go where she wanted it to. Too funny!

Also, she's waiting on an appointment with her supervisor and the first thing on her agenda with him is getting me a damn raise. Hallelujah! My nieces who have planned a visit with me for months on this very date, walked in with me while the re hab wanted to tell me what was next. I have 120 pound dog that looks like a border collie on steroids. She’s my good girl and follows me around whenever I garden. Smart as a whip! I look outside today and there’s a groundhog sitting on top of my new bucket bed. (it’s like a crate on stilts with six buckets inside.) just pissed me off because nothing was inside the bucket bed. It was brand new. I went outside hollered at it and it just looked at me! I chirped for Moon, and she sped out like a jet! That groundhog jump two feet off the ground!
That’s my girl! Made me smile big!
