We have hardly gone out to eat in a long while. We sat outside, was pleasant & had whole patio to ourselves. Food was incredible!!

The family came over with the little one and she had drawn me a birthday card and a special picture of all of us she said. We spent a couple of hours just chatting and playing and hugging. She just turns my life into happy when she comes to my door and immediately runs for a hug. Anyway had fun, did not want to go out to eat. They have limited time to visit as it takes 2 hrs each way and it gets dark so early. I will meet them on Skype tomorrow anyway. Just make me smile ear to ear.

I was actually stunned to see my former loves' righthand man (Rico's best man) today and after we stopped and chatted for a short bit, I noticed how in a year my ex-loves' best man had a whole bunch of silver in his hair that he never had last year. He said losing Rico was real hard on him and that he'd inherited all his work projects,,, which Rico was always super busy. He made it look so easy but his best man and I knew differently. And we both smiled, knowingly, the thing about me commenting on his hair turning silver -- all of a sudden.

It was good to see him and reminisce about my former love. And, smile.

What made me smile today is learning that Brittany is a real trooper when it comes to going out to potty in the rain! No messing around, no attitude, just marched right out into it and pottied and came right back in.

I don't think she's used to getting toweled off after getting rained on. She looked at me like I was kind of crazy when I did it. But then she did the doggie shake-shake-shake and all was well.

I've been in a newish routine with coffee for about a year now where I do a French Press first thing in the morning and then drink it black in my favorite "Church of Satan" hand-thrown coffee mug.

I had my 2nd chemo treatment yesterday and I couldn't be happier with how they are going. A bit of extra tiredness but no pain or nausea at all. 2 treatments down, 4 to go!

Snow! That and getting back home after having spent most of the day out running errands with J. Usually my grandson is pretty fun to be around, well behaved but not today no. It was as if he was if he were in some sort of contest to see who in the world would win and earn the title of this year's greatest little monster. It feels so good to finally be home, put my feet up, drop a couple Excedrin and call it a day. Some people look down on my daughter in law for smoking pot but me, if this is something she deals with often, then I'm surprised she's not shooting heroin.

Finding my big black male cat, laying down next to my new peep. His name is jet and jet has take it upon himself to protect the baby. When I first found them in there a few days ago, I thought he was going to eat it. But then I realized, as I watched them that the peep was not afraid, and the mother hen accepted jet being by her baby. This is so different, so sweet, that I just smile every time I catch them together now.

Lots today! I got to go to the most fantastic art festival and met loads of lovely people. The weather was great; sunny and breezy. Waze took me the scenic route home and I discovered the most PERFECT Halloween tree ever. It looks exactly like craft stencils and mats when they want a 'spooky' tree. I drove through a wind power turbine "field" and found a recycling plant I didn't know about. I got a quick workout in early this morning and a ton of steps in at the festival. I looked super cute today! I got a 33% discount off a cool print because the artist forgot her phone in the car and didn't have enough cash to break what I had. I had a delightful chat with another artist who does paintings and prints that make my soul happy. She also invited me to her house to look at her work. I worked on a craft project and had play time with Gracie. Most importantly, I DIDN'T HAVE TO WORK and the office was closed so there's no chance of anything getting messed up today!

My Mom made it back to her nursing home today! She has been sprung from the hospital, and they say they have her medications right now. She was pretty sleepy on the transport ride from the hospital to the home, and then she slept for several hours. We suspect they gave her a cocktail of sleeping meds to get her through the trip. But at dinner time she sat up and ate well. I am so relieved she is back where we can visit her.

My little granddaughters came over for our Christmas today. For the first time there were no toys under the Christmas tree! What they wanted and what we got them were new laptops! Today's biggo smile came from PRIDE!!! It was lovely weather, there were tons of people in various stages of dress and style and I had a really good time in the park. I got compliments on my eyeshadow (rainbow themed with glitter that took me fOrEvEr to blend out), there were small beach balls bouncing in the crowd at the main stage when the drag queens and kings came out and I picked up a couple of small trinkets (handmade bracelet, some stickers and a small kitty fidget toy that resembles the dragons in eggs on TT). I left before the parade started, barely, but I've seen it before and it's a 'more the merrier' kind of thing to enjoy so I didn't feel sad about that. I got more than my scheduled allotment of steps in and I looked super cute so, all in all, pretty much the whole day made me smile.

Smiling..she just left. I made her a chicken burrito and she made the cocktails. We recapped her work day and I recapped my day with my step dog. I took her to the dog park.

We will be making plans for a beach house. I want to hear the waves at night and not have to drive home.

You can be in charge of our country and still be f^cking tired, especially when you engage with a person who is tirelessly lying and committing fraud in epic ways and is still living on the tax base of American society (another form of grift). Oddly, what has made me smile over and over again today is learning to smile. I don't think anyone ever actually told me how to smile to make an attractive smile, I think they just praised me when I did it when I was little.

But I was watching a Korean drama, and there's a scene where they teach the workers in a hotel how to smile - how to smile and look sincere even when you don't feel like it, even when you're upset, even when you're dealing with a difficult guest.

You say (to yourself) "Hermès" and let the corners of your mouth do the work, while relaxing the rest of your mouth. It really works! I looked in the mirror and it is a more attractive smile than the one I usually do for photos and whatnot. Before, I would imagine I was suddenly seeing my best friend and was smiling at him with an expression of happy surprise. The "Hermès" trick is much easier and seems to work every time.

smiling...a dear friend had the Arbor Day Foundation plant 30 trees in Bootleg Fire Recovery in Oregon, in memory of my Mom. I love my friends and how they are gathering close to me.

Smiling....finding out my 7 ft corn palm blooming is rare. I asked my good friend Google...( It's an out door palm for me)

And let me tell you it smells so good. I'm even going to admit better than the jasmine right now. I actually can't believe it's blooming. It's been knocked over so many times from the hurricanes. Smiling, and enjoying it for sure!

Smiling at Brittany getting a banana. It's been several months since she had one, but I would have thought she'd have remembered it. She sniffed the first bite very carefully, took it gingerly between her lips, dropped it on the floor, sniffed it again, reached out toward it gently with one paw, then finally picked it up with her mouth and cautiously ate it. She's so funny! She loves bananas! but they must smell strange to her or something. She ate the rest of the slices enthusiastically.

I got new tires put on my car today. They were so nice at the shop, got it done quickly. Then it was time to pay. Cash only they say…. I only had a card. I had to ask them where there was an ATM. They gave me a general direction to go in ( the shop was not in my town) I was so flustered. I told the man keep my phone while I’m gone as collateral. He dismissed that option and just told me where the ATM was.
I brought back the money and paid him and thanked him for his trust. They definitely have my business from now on.
