I taught my 8yo mancub how to play chess last night. We played for an hour last night and it's the first thing he wanted to do this morning. I really appreciate how he's not stressed about losing to me but instead delights in surprising me with this strategies and moves. He's such good company.

I also taught him how to operate the dryer. That's going well too.

- growth in these two teenagers, some really amazing growth in fact. They make me proud every single day, and i love the kind-hearted beings they are. In fact, they're becoming responsible, loving young adults.. And it warms my soul to know that the minute they have anything wonderful going on, they instantly want to tell Mtn before anyone else.. They have such a love & respect for Him, and such an acceptance and warmth for Us as a couple.. Knowing momma is happy and very well loved, ♥

I run a group that raises money to rescue horses from auctions where meat buyers attend. This time, we went straight to the meat lot, where some were there already, waiting to go to Canada for slaughter. We picked one to save, rallied for funds and got her pulled from the lot!

the best part...she is in her 20s and is going to be the first horse for a 6 year old boy. He broke open his piggy bank to add to the fund...

I was turning left in my car when a beautiful woman with long legs stepped into the crosswalk. She was wearing a short sun dress with spaghetti straps and sandal-like shoes with a heel, they showed off her leg muscles quite well as she walked....I was appreciating all of this, as she crossed in front of my car.

When she reached my side I rolled down the window and said with a smile, "Girl those are awesome shoes you got on!" She turned to look at me and paused for just a moment, then she tossed her head back and rewarded me with the most delicious, rich and throaty laugh--it made me laugh just to hear it!

Then she looked at me and said with a glint in her eye, "Who let you out the house unsupervised?"

"I'm off the reservation" I said,..."I've gone rogue..."

The car behind me beeps their impatience-

"oh I see that's right...get on with yourself now, quit talkin' to ladies you don' even know..."

"Yes Ma'am" I answer, smiling as I pull away slowly.

"Oh! and polite too! mm - mm - mm...." she shakes her head from side to side and I catch the last of her smile as she turns away.

Listening to the HUGE bullfrog outside...it lives in the pond near my apartment...i am reminded of the little scene i witnessed yesterday when coming home from errands...while crossing the little foot bridge to my building that crazy frog was loudly croaking away...i looked over at the pond and noticed a Blue Heron standing motionless in the brush along the bank...obviously intent on the frog when suddenly the frog jumped into the pond...i imagine it was thinking "No, I din't think so! Not this time!". Somehow i doubt the heron's thoughts were similar...lol

Mimi as always... She wanted to give the dogs treats. Their is a HUGE container of PUPCORN.. she is allowed to give the pups treats. So I hand her two, she calls the dogs and give one to Butchy and holds one out to Henry, but she doesn't let go of it. She let's him take a bite then takes a bite herself of the Pupcorn. She then rubs her tummy and says *yummy* and hands the rest the treat to Henry... It was so cute... She just makes my heart smile...

During a horribly stressful day at work, I got the call that Honor was colicky. Not much I could do but to wait for an update...Came home between job #1 and job #2 to find that the crisis was averted and Honor apparently cleared the colic on his own. Touch and go when you are a cribber and you're pushing 20. Note to Maureen...Make Honor fart more. Not having to call a vet, or console my kid made me smile (with relief) today.

Hey this stuff made me smile today too! As well as having you near all the time, and your willingness to help out wherever needed in this crazy place.

The gathering last night was a total success, with a truly awesome youngman getting a great send off as he leaves for greater adventures. Thank you baby for making it such a success, and for dealing with the aftermath of 20 odd people being fed and in and out of our home.

Watching her and some dear ones making real connections, laughing and being silly together, GOOD stuff!

They are all so touching, sweet and, at times, sad.

Some are humerous and those are the ones that made me smile today.

Butch or femme, our experiences were very different but somehow, we all wound up on this very web site.

the chimes at noon every day from the church across the street. I work in small town USA and for 15 minutes they play, actually relaxes me when I hear them :) and I try to be at that location by noon !!

So... somehow after coming back from the store, (which is only 1 block away) I managed to lose the only key to our car... I mean LOST it!!! Not misplaced it, or "found it" later on... it was just GONE! For 3 days we looked EVERYWHERE, walked to 2 Dr.'s appt's... and looked at calling a locksmith (which over the weekend was triple the price) and today, my dear and WONDERFUL Husband (the BARNES) called the dealership, called a friend for a ride, and was able to get a NEW ignition key and a Spare key - for only $12.50!!!! I HAVE A HUMONGOUS SMILE on my face... and not once - not even ONE TIME did my husband lose it during my mild dementia episode! In fact, it was quite the opposite! He comforted me and told me it would all work out.. AND IT DID!!! I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM!!!!!

I am a giant cliche."

Here's something that made me smile yesterday. I hope I will not be punished, even in a loving way, for posting it (sheesh I am in a weird mood but happy)

Okay here it is. Yesterday, I got to pet an old pit bull on the sidewalk. She was black with a greying muzzle. I patted her hard, muscular, beefy sides and she wiggled with happiness and then dropped to the ground and rolled on her back and I dropped to the ground too, squatting there in my skirt and heels so I could have good leverage to really rub her scruffy old belly. She twisted and kicked with joy and gave me a big toothy grin and her tongue lolled out of the side of her mouth, and she kept her eyes on me, every second.

I was definitely smiling. How can you not smile back, when a dog gives you that happy grin. "She really likes you," said the two old people who owned her and were sitting on a bench outside the toney deli where I got my salad. I felt all rejuvenated, like I'd had a shot of ginseng or something. And when I looked back, she was wistfully following me with her eyes, and the two old people were still laughing.
