My Best Femme's daughter competing in the 25th Annual We The People competition http://new.civiced.org/national-finals-2012 she was told by a retired Oregon Supreme Court justice "that is just marvelous" after she delivered one of her speeches and finished the Q&A.

edited to add: She and another boy on her team (who also has two-moms) defended gay marriage in one of their speeches before the judges.

When waking up this morning: finding one puppy cuddled tight to my chest with his head on my arm...and the other puppy cuddled tight to my back, at first I thought her head was pressed against my shoulder but reached around to find she was upside down with her back feet at my shoulder and her head buried under the blankets... I was a puppy sandwich! They were cuddled so tight that I couldn't roll over!

After a long day of busting my ass...waking up from a nap, to watch the youngest puppy tucked under my arm, laying on her back and stretching her front legs up in the air like it was the best stretch ever! I love my pups and will miss them very much this week!

Today... I was slammed busy with several huge projects, facilitating meetings, preparing to completely re-write policy documents that have been totally fuddled by other people who dumped it..... several long calls with the boss to transfer duties and plans for high priority projects ... (good thing I don't require much training) ...it felt good to have a boss that is confident in me and trusts me... no matter how busy I was today or how much I had to multitask... I smiled at how easy my job will be because of all my previous years of hard work and policy knowledge ... this job just flows and I smile at being valued ....I smile each time my boss asks my advice and "what works" or "how should it be done"..I smile each time I think I am finally in a job where I can make changes to make children's lives better... I smile when I recall how good it feels to be an Alpha Leader in my field (without a degree in my field) and how I can hold my own right next to Ivy League educated PhD's and Directors. ...

Today was a productive day... especially in my goal of "I'm here for the kids"...

Something about Snack seems to have changed his mind about people and their value as cuddle opportunities. :)

At a stoplight, I looked to my right and there was this little elderly lady, must have been approx 80ish, in her powder blue buick (or something) jammin out as hard as me. Seeing these magnificnet creatures always brings me such a serene space...a calm aura about them..and makes be in awe of their majestic powers...how incredibly beautiful they are and how amazingly intelligent they are!
I see them every time I go to this place..and they are usually only about 5 to 8 feet in front of me...Miss Scarlett & I have watched them here many times...I found this place by accident three years ago..after my wife passed...and I go there often.....they bring a smile to my face like no one else can...

I've been wanting to get a mirror for my dresser for awhile, but money has been tight and it's a low priority.

Today, heading home....I passed a garage sale and saw a beautiful, huge, tri-fold mirror in light colored wood that would go with my white wicker. I stopped.

It's Bernhardt....not a scratch on it....absolutely gorgeous...weighs a ton...and would cost me hundreds to buy in a store.

I got it for $5 because the people were packing up and didn't want to carry it back inside. :cheesy:

dont think the name fits but it is what it is As I sit here typing and looking at the picture of her hours before she passed My mind travels back to better days as I was never to far from her I dont know how she identified I dont think she could this was back in the 60's she hid from our own family the women she lived with for 39 years was "just" a roommate my "aunt" had a separate bedroom and spent a lot of time there as I could not leave her side. My whole family, not just my dad, coming to the house. My dad re-grouted our shower, hooked up the washer (free, from him) and cleaned up and upgraded the dryer and dryer hose!

Then we all scraped wallpaper! Cleared one wall, and all but one foot along top of second wall. Woohoo for teamwork :D Pizza and root beer for dinner.

Dad said he will bring me my mom's 9 foot Christmas tree next weekend because it does not fit in their house.

A lunch date planned with my boys, mom and Bully.

Today we celebrate Mother's Day. Getting my kids together at the same time, which is not an easy feat, they both have very busy schedules.

I am enthusiastically smiling today. And it all started with an antique vanity I bought for my daughter. She did not have room for it anymore, so brought it to my house. Then I wondered where I could put it. I love it, it is beautiful and delicate and still has its original mirror.

And then.... I started wanting to toss furniture. And reorganize EVERYTHING.

So, I got the BEST MOTHER'S DAY PRESENT EVER!!!! My kids came over. Moved my furniture. My son-in-law tried to fix my lap top. (He couldn't that worries me). I got a huge pile to go to good will. Another pile to go to the recycle depot.

And this morning the furniture recycling company came b4 9... took away the four HUGE pieces of furniture I wanted gone. I took my stuff where it needed to go and was at work by 10.

My house is in a bit of a shambles... but oh my goodness change is good. Tonite I am unusually work free, how cool is that??? It's like the Universe knew I would go crazy, and need a night to put everything back together.

So yeah :D I am smiling!!!

It made me smile... But not sure about the others.
Walking down the hallways, looking up at the ceiling ant the fluorescent lights.
In mid step I noticed a long and kind of wide object inside of one of the panels. I walked back to grab the ladder and told a few people in the lunch room that there was a beautiful (Thingy) in the light panel. Sooo half of them followed me back to the side hallway. When they got closer, half of them disappeared, the others left started cussing and screaming. I climbed up the ladder and opened the panel. The most amazing Rat snake I have ever seen, color and pattern wise was starting to slide out so I grabbed it just below it's head and pulled it out. Guess I was lucky, it looked like it had just eaten and was napping. Two of the nurses told me to kill it. I looked at them with a lowered eye brow and said, ohh hell no, I will not kill this snake, I will release it outside near the bayou, they said a good snake is a dead snake, we don't want it back in here again or it's babies crawling around. I said, well that's kind of late, babies must be up in them there panels and Pooffffff they were gone. So I was on a ladder, with a beautiful snake, with the pleasure of admiring it's beauty and magnificent colors. Climbed down the ladder, folded it and grabbed it with one hand while holding the snake in the other. It made me smile to know that the snake was going to get a good drink of water and more than likely have lot's of food to eat in this beautiful weather outside of our hospital by the bayou. :cheesy:

I was on Facebook today and saw my half-brother who is an author and lives in Japan post his book and I saw a thank-you from someone that I had been looking for since I was 20. My half-sister who lives in Boston with her girlfriend...I am so happy that I finally had a chance to chat with her. She had not heard about me, but some how I had seen a picture of her and had noticed that she looked a little like me. I do not talk to my father and neither does she, he was a busy man and made lots of little babies all over the eastcoast.
Maybe soon I will get a chance to meet her in person....I am really smiling, wow this is so awesome.

I needed to book Rooster's flights to NY to spend his half-summer with his father and was dreading the cost. I'd looked and estimated it was going to be about $350.

Finally went on to book yesterday....logged in on his frequent flyer account and got a message.....you have 10,500 miles availalbe. Oh good! Checked the number required for one way.....10,300. Sweet! Booked that leg....for free.

Went to book the other leg....got another message....we're having a sale....here's $10 off. Good! Clicked to check out....got another message....you have a $25 travel bank credit (from a delayed flight) would you like to use it? Heck yes I would!

So his flights are booked....and instead of $350 it cost me a tad less than $150. Life is good. :cheesy:

Realizing this morning that yesterday was my anniversary, and it whizzed right by.

May 15, 8 years I ago I had a total radical surgery for endometrial cancer.

Those that know me ~understood that I Knew they had made a mistake. Surely they had it wrong.... and it must be prostate cancer.

What made me smile today...

Being asked by the staff that I worked with today to give three adjectives that would describe the overall feel of the clients/atmosphere on our shift in order to close out our end notes. I chose: moody, restless and still. The clients were moody and restless but the atmosphere was still and quiet... Staff and supervisor both liked my choices. They were happy to see new adjectives in the logs. LOL they have no clue just how adjectively full of it I can be. I'm gonna liven that place up yet!! :)

Sitting at the square in the middle of downtown waiting for my transfer bus to pull in for my ride home and three teens from the shelter came over to talk with me. I think it's awesome that they feel comfortable and safe enough to hang with me for a bit outside of my "work" mode. I still have to maintain that level of professionalism with them but it's freakin' cool still the same!! :)
