Preface... I spoke to this couple twice today and this was the second conversation. If only all customers were like these two... 70+ year old retired couple... living in Las Vegas Baby!

Mr. is calling me back after I've explained to them that the issue wasn't our fault. So, Mr.'s saying (jokingly) that in order for him and his wife (on the other line) to remain customers ... some arm wrestling or poker would be required!

Me: *Blah blah blah* ... the customer's always right!

Him: That'd be strip poker.

Me: *laugh out loud* Okay ... well... before go down that road ... I'd need to take a look at you and you'd need to take a look at me!

A coworker I get to work with a couple times a year stopped by to give me the specs on her next project. We work so well together. She has a reputation for being difficult, but she's not. She just knows what she wants.

What took us 15 minutes can sometimes take an hour with other people. I told her I'd deliver a mock up by Friday, but I'll have something ready for her this morning. I love it when I work with people who know what they want. Keeps a smile on my face.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- A California fire department says a little white dog named Jack is recovering after firefighters rescued him from a burning home and brought him back to life.

In a video posted to the Bakersfield Fire Department's website that has been widely shared online, firefighter Matt Smith is shown carrying the nearly lifeless shih tzu from the house on Wednesday.

Using a pet oxygen mask donated to the department by a local Girl Scout troop, Smith and his partners slowly bring Jack back to life.

I had so much fun with my sister yesterday!

We met at the Train Station and then took the Red Line to the Walt Disney Concert Hall to listen to the California Philharmonic Orchestra live with Judith Hill.

It was so awesome! Maestro Victor Viener and the amazing musicians at Cali Philharmonic orchestra took us back to Old Vienna to listen to some very gorgeous pieces.

To add a cherry to the cake, we got to listen to the new songs that were written, composed, and sang by non-other than the gorgeous powerhouse: Judith Hill!

I will be going back later this year to listen to Shakespeare in Love...

We went out to dinner to our local Mexican food restaurant tonight. Soon after we sat down, a police officer came in and sat not far from us. Blaze got up and talked to the waitress and told her to add his meal to our ticket. That not only made me smile but warmed my heart.

He came over and thanked us and shook our hands. We said, " no, thanks go to you for all you do"


As we were leaving, he followed us out...to say, if he ever pulled us over, to remind him we bought him dinner. He also, recognized Blaze from the ER rooms in town.

On the drive home I laughed....yay a free pass to do 50 by the school! Lol
And Blaze said, I thought he recognized him from a wanted poster! Lol

A few years ago i ventured into yet another side business and i have totally enjoyed it. There is one major governing "board" in the USA that i had to prove myself to be part of. i jumped through their hoops and got in. i felt validated and like i was official. There are three older men who run this group. They were begging for help, so i offered. They made me an admin and have helped monitor the site since. i even covered an event when one of the admins in New Orleans could not make it.. he didn't even say thank you, he just asked for his cut. You're welcome, jerk. Over the years i've seen these 3 men and a couple of the old school members display behavior that i don't like. Not welcoming, not helpful, very exclusive, flat out rude/mean to people who ask a question. They spoke out about people like me, who jumped in the business head first and worked their way through, without going down the same path they did.

They were so rigid, You must be this that and the other thing to belong. Insisting we keep the group on Yahoo. Not wanting Facebook or make any changes.

A member asked a simple question and there was a dog pile of rudeness that set me off. Why can't people just help people? Why are you in the group of not to share information and talk things out?

Well i spoke up about it and guess what? They didn't like it. Well.. they left me as admin but tried to bully me into knowing my place.

Well, another queer woman and i started talking about it, because she spoke up too. (She's also a NOLA girl and we referred people to each other) With her support i started a new site, a new FB page which welcomes ALL especially women entrepreneurs. We have a pretty simple screening process, no hoops. One question. i spent hours seeking out others on FB and inviting them to get the members count up. The response has been amazing as its grown. New members are finding us daily!!!!

Today, one of the women posted a photo of her at a vendor fair thanking everyone in the group for helping her become successful and having a great event. She says:

I want to thank everyone who offered their tips to me in my previous post about the vendor event I was attending. Your tips helped me with my display and I want to share pics of how it turned out. It has been amazing! You are all the most wonderful and helpful group of people i have been part of.

I was a little skeptical about fixing it myself, but with ample research and trusting that the Universe was watching out for me, I tackled the issue and saved myself roughly 3k by buying $300 worth of parts and doing 4 hours of labor myself. The cats and I have spending some quality time together this past week. And well, big boy Mortgage, has made me smile more often than not. He went to the vet emergency room, two weeks ago. He is still sporting a shaved leg, where the IV was. It really looks like a boot! A Barbie boot...skinny leg, big furry snow boot!

5:00 late afternoon finally arrived and 3 day weekend ahead made me joyful ... I stopped and bought groceries, got the babies 2 kinds of doggie treats and good junk food for me ... I smiled all the way home :)

They have eaten, drank lots of ice water while they played. Beginning to get dark and we are all sitting out back relaxing listening to the forest noises. It just doesn't get any better than this for me! :)

Finishing up my third quilt I made since this hurricane came and never left!
First one was a sweet pink baby blanket size. Second, oh so beautiful, pinks, corals, peaches, lavenders.
And this last one, 81 squares X 3, in jewel tones. Turquoise, magenta, purple and green.

I decided to put down the phone and iPad, so easy to play games...lol
Being productive on this time off, I'm going to sell them!

I went over to her house for a visit. I made her favorite dishes from scratch yesterday (after mowing). It was a feast with lots of leftovers. I also cleaned her house and knocked out some chores that she can't do.

Hearing all is well at the Center for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Sanibel Island after Irma.

Their buildings were built to withstand hurricanes and flooding. They released any wildlife they could prior to the storm. Staff took critically ill patients home with them. The critters they couldnt take were all well and accounted for this am.

Haven't had enough coffee yet to check how the rest of Florida is doing.

The first smile was when I woke up. Jennifer Avery (chubby pocket pittie) had her face close to mine and was watching me. I opened my eyes to her adorable pittie grin. Then I started saying her newest favorite "baby-talk" line to her ... which is "she is so pretty" ... I said it over and over for a few minutes. Jennifer never tires of hearing it and develops a serious case of wiggle-butt. This chubby little girl means so much to me! They all do!!!

I was thinking about my old kitty that passed last year. She loved to retrieve things and bring them to me. I remember once I saw her try to drag a blanket over to me.

I was not present for the funniest story. I went to Italy and had a friend take care of her for three weeks. When I picked her up my friend asked me about the retrieving behavior and I told her that it was normal for the kitty. My friend told me that she was shocked when my kitty ran down the hall with my friend's bra in her mouth and between all her legs. Haha! Great visual.

I've been gone for several days, so when I got home tonight and picked up my mail, I received an huge stack of post cards and cards, all bundled up together by rubber band! Our postal carrier retired from our mail route back in July after nearly 30 some odd years of work for the US Postal Service. It took them about two months to find a permanent mail carrier to replace our mail lady, so it was so nice to see that weeks of mail that was seemingly missing, had finally arrived!

To say I smiled is not nearly as accurate as to say that I Swooooned! But yes, definately, I smiled!!! :)

Tiny Hedgehog Goes Camping, And His Pics Are The Best Thing You'll See Today


We know you remember Azuki, the tiny Japanese hedgehog who goes on big adventures. His perky ears, button nose, and delightful roundness is just impossible to forget. Well, Azuki recently traded his cozy dream house in for a set of miniature Coleman camping gear and took a trip to the great outdoors. Equipped with his own tent, kayak, and barbecue, he was all set for success, and pretty much had the time of his life. Just looking at his photos makes us want to get our camp on. It also really, really makes us want a hedgehog. Like, right this second.
