Had a super fantabulous (yes that's a real word in my world) time at the dance tonight.
Danced all night.
Smiled all night.
I will not be smiling tomorrow however when I realize how painkillers and alcohol only hid how much pain I am in. Tomorrow will be rough.

Went out to lunch today - good to be distracted for a few hours. My colleague and I decided to wander through the department store and I tried on a red blouse which surprisingly fitted me.
The colour was great, the fit not too bad but according to my colleague the ruffled/pleated Elizabethan-esq collar was a bit much. I felt that the extra padding for the grrls would have had them feeling a bit inadequate. Can't have the grrls feeling inadequate.

Sleeping in late ALWAYS makes me smile... waking up warm & cozy under two blankets & a comforter with a cold face in our first frost of the year, having the day off & my toothache feeling better are just lovely bonuses. And it's still early in the day! I'm ready for more smiles.

Driving home from work and seeing the moon peeking out from the clouds....the storm was gentle with us.....by comparison to the coast....and what the nor'easter did last year....I'm grateful for that...
Found Teddy outside when I got home...and we snuggled under the stars for a while and talked...the moon was brighter than it was inside since the power was out....lol
While we were outside the power came on very suddenly and we were able to keep our date to watch Bayou Billionaires. We made frozen pizza since the chicken and veggies I put in the crock hadn't quite finished cooking.....and there was wine to be had.....:wine: and oreos....not a bad night at all <3

Waking up to see my dog sleeping on his new dog bed! Justin and I trekked to Costco last night just for the dog bed, and when we brought it home, he could have cared less about it. Last night he decided to sleep on the hardwood floor next to the bed, instead of the bed. He gets nervous easily and it takes him time to adjust.
This morning when I woke up and he was rolling around on it, making doggie grunts. So cute.

Skyped with both my Granddaughters today. :)
One is 6 months and is sitting for ages, she just sits there and plays, but couldn't care less about rolling or crawling. The other is 6 and half months and is rolling, scooting backwards and moving everywhere. She only sits for a moment and then she gets herself going again.
I can't believe how different they are. I guess I shouldn't be surprised their mothers are like night and day, absolutely nothing in common until they both got pregnant at the same time.
Skyping with my girls makes me smile.

Spending the afternoon with the relics (twice in one week, it's a miracle no blood was spilled lol), my little brother Jon came along too, which was nice cos he rarely gets to see them due to work, managed to get a pack of coloured card so I can make christmas cards, some writing paper so I can write to some friends, found a glow stick frog for my brother's gf who loves all things frog and then got home to a kitty dash out the front door as I opened it, followed by being told all about her day, then being led to her food bowl, and ending with her snuggled up in her blanket, snoring away beside me now!

A very close friend of mine moved from NY to Indiana earlier this year. She is really tight with my daughter, they have this bond I can't describe. They are almost 800 miles apart now and still email each other regularly. I love moments like today when my daughter comes down and tells me about this stream of conversation that they've been having literally for days, and I had no idea they were even talking this week.
When they lived here, My daughter and my friend would sit together knitting , discussing books, effective pioneering techniques for modern day living, and how to properly interact with fairies. No matter that at the time one was 11 years old and the other was 40.
Their ongoing connection regardless of the miles between makes me smile.

Also loving that the same friend as referenced above is now distracting herself from her NANOWRIMO project by sending me emails calling me ridiculous names. Because that's a game we play, who can come up with the most idiotic name for the other. But I'm not letting her play because she's supposed to be writing a novel. Which is what I'm supposed to be doing now. 'bye.

The weather was a absolutely gorgeous, only needed a jacket when we got back to town.
We explored quaint old towns, veggie markets, wineries, craft sales, lakes, small stores and so much more. I wish I had brought my big camera.
And who knew I am now only an hour from the American border. I thought I was further North then that. Next time I will bring my passport for my outings.

Celebrating my best friend AND my sister's birthday today! :heartbeat:
I called my 2nd Grade teacher today and left a message on her answering machine.(at least i think it is hers)
I am still grining at the thought of it. And my heart is warm with
fond memories of her and the thought of seeing her...Ms..J...my second grade teacher. She was...well, one of my favorites. I should say that.... she was really.... my very special, first favorite, teacher. In fact, my best female friend growing up, she is still in this town and gave me a number that she got from her mother....that we all think may be my (our) teacher's phone number. We will go together and visit her (cause my friend wants to go but was afraid to call) and i will take her flowers. I just want to thank her for how supportive she was...for everything she did as a teacher. And for watching out and taking care of my little bro. He got lucky and had her for a 2nd grade teacher also. She was the best. And she shoud know that. I want to tell her that.

This weekend changed my life forever. As you all know Minnesota is one of the states that have the Minnesota Same-Sex Marriage Amendment on the ballot. Well I could no longer hide who I am... So I posted my story on my facebook for the world to see and my small town of 350 ppl the very town my mother still lives in. The people have changed my life for ever!
Here is my story............
I was a little girl just like you. I was your friend growing up.
I was your babysitter, your teammate, your student, and your classmate. You voted me Spring Fest Queen in high school and Athlete of the Year. I am a daughter, a godchild, a sister and an Aunt. I’m your co-worker. I’m the friend you call when you need help.
Why I’m Voting NO on the Minnesota Same-Sex Marriage Amendment, Amendment 1
I lived in fear my entire life and today I will no longer live in fear for who I am. I was in so much fear I wasn’t able to tell my own mother my truth, the truth of who I am. I lived in fear of losing my friends. In fear of being bullied and in fear of being laughed at or not being able to play sports because of who I am. My biggest fear of all was for my mother her living in a small town and of how small towns always have a few that “whisper.” I’m sure there will be a few after hearing or reading this.
I thought I was protecting her and my family when in fact I was only hurting myself. Although I protected her and my family the only way I knew how, HIDE. I hid who I really was. I am now ashamed for hiding my truth from my mother whom I love so very much, the very person that brought life to me 47 years ago and took me 46 years to tell. I was afraid to share what I’ve been through and go through daily because of who I am. She said, “she loves me no matter what.”
I am not going to hide anymore. I am gay. I am no different than the person sitting next to you. The same person you grew up with, the same person you worked beside, the same person that babysat your children. I’m the same person that laughed with you at the bar or played ball with and currently in the state of Minnesota, the state I have called home my entire life, the state that I love, it is illegal for me to marry the one I love.
Amendment 1 does not legalize gay marriage, but it keeps discrimination out of Minnesota’s constitution.
Let me ask you. How do you love your mother? How do you love your sister, your best friend? How do you love your spouse? Please tell me, why is my love any different than yours? I was good enough back in high school to be Athlete of the year and Spring Fest Queen but not good enough to have the same rights you have.
I hope that by talking about this it may change some peoples thinking.. So when you go to check that box ….. I beg you to Vote NO on Amendment 1! Amendment 1 changes the Minnesota constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman and takes us farther away from equality; to me it is out right discrimination.
Please do not allow them to put discrimination in our constitution it only hurts me, millions of others, and generations to come.
LOVE is LOVE and is bigger than any government! VOTE NO!!
My little town and surrounding area's have been so supportive. My mom has gotten phone calls of people crying and saying they are so sorry they didn't support me more growing up. It's been a beautiful experience I can't even explain it.

I was working a phone bank at Obama Headquarters today, rallying the final 48 hours before election day.
Scanning who was there with me when I first got settled in, about 40 of us on a Sunday afternoon. 38 women. Two of whom must have been nearing or over 90 years old. Using cell phones and laptops to call people and remind them to vote. Big smile and heart about to burst with love for them.
I wish I could have talked to them and learned more of their story, but they made me smile just the same.
One woman I called (we were calling Ohio) spent 15 minutes telling me all of the places she has seen support for Obama there in Ohio, including Stevie Wonder being there playing music at one of the early vote sites.
Best call was with an 87 year old woman who told me she never votes early because election day, and her ability to vote, is sacred, and she and her husband walk to the polls together every year.
There were women who told me they weren't going to vote, but I'm not going to talk about them here. Humph.
I just watched this little documentary. It's on Netflix and Amazon.
It made me smile today. :)

Frank Sinatra - The Way You Look Tonight from Swing Time (movie scenes) - YouTube
Some day, when I'm awfully low
When the world is cold
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight
Yes, you're lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight
With each word your tenderness grows
Tearin' my fear apart
And that laugh..wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart
Lovely ... Never, never change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it ? 'cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
It touches my foolish heart
Lovely ... Don't you ever change
Keep that breathless charm
Won't you please arrange it ? 'cause I love you
a-just the way you look tonight
Mm, Mm Mm, Mm,

A car full of teenagers this morning who hadn't seen each other since Election night comparing notes on the general states of crazy in their various households. Hysterical descriptions of panic and relief were told.
The same teens realizing that all of them, except for my daughter, will be old enough to vote in the next presidential election. (she'll be 5 months shy of 18) and then devising ways to sneak her in to vote or make her a fake id, issue a new birth certificate, so that they could all go vote in their first presidential election together. Me laughing internally how it's not crossing any of their minds to make her 21 so she can buy them booze. They just want her to be able to exercise her right to vote.
A generally stoic girl at our school group this morning. She's one of those who hardly ever speaks and then when she does, it's always a zinger. She cracks me up. Today is her birthday. She was wearing this hat.
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/sockco_2233_16749651
I have the same exact hat. So I grabbed her by the earflaps the conversation went like this
Me: I have the same hat! (spoken in excited girly type voice)
She: You do?!! (In an unprecedented excited girly type voice coming form her)
Me: Yes, we need to plan a dress alike day! (grabbing her hands)
Her: OMG we so do! (grabbing my hands back and jumping up and down)
Unison: SQUEEEE!
Instantly followed by stoic face returning, a fist bump, and both of us walking our own directions.
A few minutes later, a 6 yo comes in, who lost a tooth last week. She showed me how she lost another tooth this week, the same one I told her was going to come out next. She told me it was far too sacred of a tooth to give to the fairies so she kept it and now carries it with her.
Just after I recover from that, in comes an 8 yo with her hands waving in the air, crying out "It's Sacrelig! Just Sacrelig"!
Me: Um, honey, everything okay?
She: so-and-so (insert poor 8yo boys name) won't read Harry Potter II!
Later in the day, many smiles, watching our teens happy playing in the sun out on the playground, like they are still little kids.

My only student was gone today, so I got to help out in the elementary office. I filed papers, ran errands, and did various tasks. When I finished up everything they could find with an additional 45 min left on my shift, the secretary told me to go ask the principle where else I could be useful. I found him in the lunch room and told him I had finished the filing, was there anything else I could help out with. His response was that he was sure the secretary would have something else. I said, nope, all done. He looked a little shocked... and his next response will have me smiling all day... he said...

I've felt isolated and I realised today that was my own fault, now I've overcome some fear, I feel able to reach out once again :)

A nice Sunday and this morning spent with my babe. It was needed! ... and I can't wait for our next days together spending time with her and our lil pup out exploring and making memories and cuddling. :)
She called me back....she called me back! Ms J.
My second grade teacher... that i adore, admire and love so much!
I think she is 80 now. Not sure.
I was worried that she had gone south for the winter.
That is what my friend (who was afraid to call her
last week) thought was possible.
So, i left a message on Miss J's machine.
I had to explain to her that i was trans and that i had changed. I had to
remind her of who i was by telling her my old name and then to tell her
my new name. I was so excited and nervous and happy. I was at work..so,
kinda outta sorts and didn't recognize the number.
In the middle of explaining I said...it's the marshmellow...
the star... and then i told her about being trans and my name etc...
and she said..."My marshmellow?, it's you?" I can't wait to see her.
I seriously am sitting here and i can't get over it....she kept thanking
me and telling me..."well, this is just the best call ever"
I gotta say, this teacher....changed lives. An absolutely beautiful human being.
And i thank God that i get to tell her to her face and hug her.
Natalie Merchant (10,000 Maniacs) Feat. Michael Stipe (R.E.M) - To Sir with Love - YouTube
and she kept thanking me....and i said...."No, thank you".
that is how the conversation had to end. She gave directions to her house.
and i think now,...I can't pay her or thank her enough
for the love the gifts the lessons....so many children...she made better people...
And parents...she taught them.
The others when they hear that i got to see her...will be jealous.
I want to do more to thank her. To thank her for them. I will.
My friend, that was afraid to call... that plans to go with me...is ecstatic!

Talked with my daughter over the phone and then hung up. I got a text saying Ju was mad because he didn't get to talk to me and that he never wants to talk to me again. I called back immediately...
ju: Hello?
me: Is this Juji?
ju: Yes? Is this Boobeh?
me: Yes it is.
ju: I love you Boobeh!!
Ju: (screams to the top of his lungs) Momma, Boobeh wants to talk to me!! *giggle*

A lunch date with my best friend, and then visiting with her husband when I dropped her off.
Sometimes when I look at myself in the mirror and see those masculine features more pronounced than other days I can't help but smile. I notice it more when I have a fresh haircut... and I love it! :D

My kids in our homeschool group. Especially the first lil' one who ran up to me for a big hug this morning wearing: Purple sneakers, pink tights, a pink ballerina fairy dress, fairy wings, and a big floofy scarf tied onto a hair band around her head. And she has these fantastic pink framed glasses.
The second hug was from her little sister wearing red shoes, stretch pants with retro flowers all over them, a striped sweater, purple framed glasses, and 6 pigtails.
More smiles when it was time for chess class and me and another mom decided to mess with the teacher who was trying to teach a three year old the names of the chess pieces so we started calling them "the chocolate kisses" and "the princess crown" and other silly names to mess with the teacher and makes the kids laugh more than learn.
It was just that kind of day.
Being able to help a friend today...
Hoping their holiday is much better than it would have been.
