This made me smile this afternoon while doing a random search for Stags playing chess. I actually came across a comic strip about a bunch of Stags playing a game of chess with a deer hunting party by Ed Collins, but a person can't access that particular comic strip he made. It was funny, seriously. The Stag's had the deer hunters backed into a corner, during their so-called chess match. *LOL*

But this will have to do, for now.

Today was a not so typical day at work as many were out ill or just chose to not appear when duty called. So out of the realm of my normal job duties, I pitched in and helped the nursing staff. Come 4:50pm I starting to sing *sing a song make it simple make it strong*!! The nurses all joined me in the verses and I made them smile which made me smile :)

Well, since this day kinda sorta just started even though it's just ending for me when I fall asleep in a few minutes... I will say that hearing my girl's sleepy soft voice over the phone when I got in from work was/is by far the biggest and most amazing reason for me to smile at this time :D

Also, the help, wisdom, and knowledge of a Planet friend with something quite serious in my world was greatly appreciated and definitely worthy of a smile in the wee hours of this new morning/day... :D

I noticed my work clothes have been fitting loose, but I figured it's because I don't exactly worry about buying the right size, so some are a size too big anyway. But today I decided to try on a pair of my favorite shorts that I've been holding on to for a couple of years 'cause I love them. I can get in to them and have room to breathe and not have the pocket puckering or anything!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I haven't really been dieting, I've just been working 60+ hours a week at two different jobs that end up being like a split shift. So my diet has been the sleep-is-more-important-than-food diet. I usually have a big breakfast and that's it.

I watched a show on the documentry chanel today,the name was See What I'm Saying..Deaf performers.At first I didnt want to watch it,I had to think deep as to why so all I could come up with was that for most of my life I have had to be a deaf person in a hearing world that didnt care if I had a hearing problem or not.I was expected to just do it anyway so embraceing my deafness was something I dint do mostly I just didnt know but a fue other deaf people so I hadnt much experence within the community.This program brought out some things in me that allowed me to realise I can be as productive as a hearing person,I dont need to make excuses for my deafness (wich is a biggie for me)I have always done my best to be all I could be,but its hard when hearing people dont see the difrently able ablities I and opthers like me have.Once I had a co worker say somethig to me behind my back so I barely understood him,when I ask ..say again,I was told never mind I will do it myself.Yeah,it hurt my feelings but like always I shrughed it off..what else can I do.Any how watch the show if you can,its well worth it.

Not just smile, but big belly laugh -- when someone forgot to bring the "jammer panties" to roller derby scrimmage (those are the covers that the jammers put over their helmets) and as I was looking through my car to see if I had a scarf or bandanna that they could use instead, I found a bag of my granddaughter's old "boy panties" (the only kind she'll wear - with toy story, super heros, etc.).

Well I brought a couple of them in as a joke, and they ended up wearing them during the scrimmage over their helmets. If you can't quite picture it, imagine two women skating around with toddler boy's cartoon character underwear pulled over their skateboard-style helmets.

(You probably have to understand derby to get this, and if I could post a pic you would see what I mean, but it's still making me laugh!)

I had to take my wife to the dentist and sat there holding her hand through a procedure which made me :( bc she was in some pain.
Then we picked up her vicoprofin and she wanted Thai food .
My wife doesn't take any type of medicine and has a huge pain threshold
So we are sitting there at the eating place and she is plum higher than a kite holding a tiny dish of peanut sauce in one hand for about 15 min and looking out the window at the same time saying Ohhh there's a car out there that's red daddy .
After laughing inside for 15 min I took this tiny dish out of her hand and said here baby pay attention and eat for daddy Haha .
The waitress came over and said is everything ok .
I said yes she is feeling just fine but ill need the check and a box to go please .
I'm still :) 6 hrs later and she is still sound asleep .
For sickness and health I tell ya they aren't kiddng

So we are in a meeting today... all serious like the vice principal comes in looking worse for wear. She is frazzled and teary. And says she found a consultant for deaf/blind students and we can access her for a student. Some one says of for "insert kid name". And she says well for any that need it. To which I ask are there other deaf/blind kids we don't know about. This sends us all into hysterics. Because certainly we'd know if there were other kids like that floating around the building. Leading to a pinball wizard song quote and well I think we recovered happily.

CIJS: Spending the whole day with hym was great and it stinks that hy has to work from 11p to 7am tonight!

CIAJS: We were out walking our Babygirl pup and this guy in an SUV stops us and asks Ruff in Spanish, if we are missing a little boy. Come to find out, a little boy had been found wandering around and a couple stopped him and called the police. I have never seen our community come together like this and I am thankful to know, that they did! Happy ending is that the little boy was given back to his dad by the police.

My 7-year-old granddaughter is in a junior roller derby team (team right word?) and nothing makes me smile more than to see all the little girls rolling around on their skates.

She has loved roller derby from the time she was little.

He's giving Ivan a run for his money in the song department, and although "Maxie" is only about one third (if that much) of Ivan's size, his voice is pretty loud right now. Finding out that the "homeless" cat we've been feeding actually has a home. His owner approached me today and informed me that his address is a few doors up the block and he spends more time outdoors than in.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I seen a kid today that had to be 10 or younger riding his bike on Rt 9 and was riding with traffic NOT against it

Talking friends into going for a walk this afternoon, assuring them that the rain was just a sun shower, only to have it turn into a raging thunder storm. We were soaked. It was cool.

My daughter coming home from a four hour work shift, telling me about her aching feet and eating dinner #2 with her feet propped up.

The uptight theater lady who talks religion all the time writing "boo" on her forehead in glow in the dark lipstick to show her support for a holiday she doesn't celebrate. But she wrote it the wrong way/wrong direction for folks to read it while looking at her. So I told her to just put another B at the other end of it. Not sure if she'd slug me or laugh. She laughed. Whew.

Carved a pumpkin, which, I can't remember ever doing before. Used a sweet little 19 month old's tracing of her hands as the eyes and the tracings of her feet as the smile. Going to bring it to her mom today, as we celebrate the moms birthday. Must say, pretty cute and not bad for my first carving. I was always the one who cleaned it up.

She deserves the love she receives, because of her huge heart and how she takes everyone she meets under her wing, I am so fucking lucky to have such a wonderful, inspirational woman in my life, she asks for nothing and is brought to tears when she gets the thanks and love returned that she so deserves.

David Jones is my best buddy for over 20 years. Within our circle of friends he is called my gay husband because he has companies that accommodate my landscaping, pest control and jacuzzi needs free of charge. His partner felt so intimidated, that after 1.5 years of their dating, he finally agreed to meet with me today.


We had a lovely breakfast, lots of laughs and a few tears. I felt relieved to find out that his feelings were really the result of heavy stuff from the past.

Our time together ended with a hug and lunch plans. This made me smile BIG today.:)

At the shelter that is a good thing. It means all is well in the Land of the Teens and appetites are high. Everyone has their way of following the kids' moods and I use their eating habits as mine. When we have staff meetings and a kid's psyche is in question we collaborate and I contribute this to the discussion. It comes in very handy and is greatly appreciated by the clinicians, etc.

So yeh... Happy Happy Happy... at least for today!! :cheesy:

i met a new neighbor of my clients while i was coming in the building...she was sorely in need of help moving in...so i stopped to help her and we got to talking...she was just the nicest lady and is moving in on the same floor as my client...the best part about it is....she teaches social dancing....and ive been wanting teddy and i to take a class! its always interesting to me how people come into your life and the whens and whys....we have plans to have tea once she's settled....there are still good people in this world....so good to know....

My symptoms began in late June & it took 6 ambulance rides To three different hospitals before a doctor finally recognized the symptoms of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, Almost 2 months later. Here I am almost 4 months later and I worry every day that this will never go away. Going out with Mum to Barter Books, one of my favourite places, we sat and chatted, she showed me photo's she'd taken at Edinburgh Zoo, four of them were of a leopard which just sat right there in front of her, so she was over the moon, she loves big cats, one day I'd love to be able to afford for her to actually get to meet one in the flesh (a tame one, obviously lol) mostly because I know how much she's always wanted to feel a big cats feet, touch their fur and feel what their tails are like. It was great to get the change to talk to her, she's been working hard the past few weeks and we've not really had time to just sit, but she's got all next week off, so we'll probably go visit the relics, so we'll get to spend lots more time together and I can't wait.
