I recently realized I needed to do something about my wardrobe. Acting on the advice/suggestion of my boss's daughter and one of the ladies who works at DSS/CSE I decided to check out clothes at the Goodwill store near my Dad's house.

Came home with 4 beautiful tops; each bears a real designer label, each is in nearly mint condition and each cost a mere $3.79 plus tax. For a mere $16.41 I now have 4 new tops for work - that 's about the same as what I paid last week at Marshall's for an Anne Klein blouse.

I'll be shopping more at Goodwill for work clothes - there's another location in the northern end of the county that I need to check out next.

A great Saturday spent with her....

It starts out with " oh I don't want 7/11 coffee -Starbucks makes me feel so much better" Uhhhhh okayyyy lol - she suffered through 7/11 coffee... I think she loves me.

Then a drive & house hunting... Barbie is planning out her mansion already....LOL gotta love a girl who has gusto...However when she mentioned lets go peek in the windows.... I tried to divert her attention....

I merely mentioned shoes.... Sweet mother of everything holy....Shoe shopping it is....Off we go...I was thinking...practical.... shoes for her feet that she's on all day, running and chasing students.... I was... wrong.... Pretty red HIGH HEELS....a must have....(she did get the practical too, but....)
As we went up EVERY isle(actually I think we skipped and were singing "if you're happy and ya know it clap your hands"... My bag overflowing with boxes of shoes and My back hunched over like the Off-Broadway Shoe Warehouse hunchback... I kept saying to myself... "Pretend you are in the bass pro shop" Lures and lures.... of.... shoes....Some how the vision of every color and I do mean EVERY color, style and make of women's shoes do not... resemble... a rod and reel. We check out and the cashier proudly says... "you have a coupon for 35.00", I thought I might at this point fake a heart attack or something.. out we go.... Them red shoes....I will quietly admit... look HOT HOT and some more hot on her.

We leave...We eat and I mention... "wanna get your nails done?"

What in hell was I thinking??? Her eyes lit up like the fire works from the 4th of July...

After watching what she goes through regarding a manicure and pedicure I have decided it is like a root canal. Holy Mother! Buffed, drilled, polished, UV lights, filing, more buffing and some god awful toxic smell that in my opinion would make your nails and clear up to a knuckle fall off rather than look all that pretty... but...The nail chic pulled it off... My lyric's nails are HOT!

So what made me smile today was making the love of my life...happy....

My back hurts... My arms are dragging on the floor this evening.... but... my god I love her...and I cant wait to have another day like today....

What put a smile on my face today was driving 1 1/2 hours to see family from cali...hanging out with the most fabulous family I could imagine..just laughing and being ourselves..then mamma makin her amazing doubledecker velveeta burgers..sure to stay with you ALL day lol..then driving home realizing since we dropped our daughter off at her friends for the night..we actually have the house all to ourselves ..woohoo!..but I realized I will need a pretty prink bra for my pretty pink tank top for pride tomorrow lol..so off we go..as sweet as she is..she comes in and makes a few suggestions...lol..but I get the ones..err two I want lol..and off we go..home only to realize..we have to go to work :(..only for a few hours..but we are together and thats all that matters..

We went to this awesome festival this weekend and bought some stuff to make dips. As I am adding the powder to the sour cream I am finding it doesn't taste like French onion at all. After a few growls and murmured curses, I add more powered mix to the cream. stir...taste...curse. add more. stir... taste.... curse.

After adding almost a full tablespoon extra mix to the sour cream, I realize that I am not making the French onion dip at all but the Kickin garlic.

Needless to say, it is one Very Strong garlic dip. Might be funny to watch their faces when they taste it.

What made me smile today...

Last night, an old friend showed up at my 2nd job, that I haven't seen in FOREVER! Afterward, we sat on the tailgate of her truck, talking about life, love and everything in between for over an hour. We've been friends for almost 20 years, and no matter how long inbetween visits we may go, one hug from her & hearing her laugh, brings us right back to where we left off.

She trembled a lil *Ferrets tremble to raise body temp. if Cold, or waking up*, and gawked...I mean...bulging beady eyes blinking on the way to the box area, she'd sniff the air occasionally, her gaze followed birds flying overhead..
While checking the mail, I let her explore a little [She was in harness + leash] she didn't wanna go too Far, she puffed up as well.
On the way back, she snuggled in my arm, while peeking out the side.

That Frog Dog! This pm, he was in my front yard with me gardening when my mail carrier came. He’s guy from Turkey with different cultural take on dogs, just leery of dogs. My little dog “ambassador “ has been trying to befriend this guy for awhile. So, today, he picked-up his favorite ball and tossed it through the fence to the mail carrier! He tosses to me all the time, so I knew what he was up to. He even did the “playful” butt in the air stance and wiggle! The mail carrier fell for it!! Buddy- hood has begun!

Yesterday I bought myself an absolutely gorgeous sterling silver/amethyst bracelet!

It's a reward/incentive for getting back on my food programme and participating in the AIDS Walk next weekend.

The walk was a goal of mine a year ago...the one mile walk is a fundraiser for RAIN the Regional AIDS Interfaith Network here in Charlotte.

In fact, me just being able to walk at all without a cane, much less a mile, is simply amazing. I credit my doctor and my boss's dog (I take him for a 30-60 minute walk every day at lunch). :walking-poodle: So I am celebrating by raising money to help others.

Also I am walking in honor of my friends and patients lost to AIDS. I worked in medicine back in the 80s. Those heartbreakingly helpless early days of the plague when few people lived long after their diagnosis and there was little to nothing that we could do for them.

Successfully installing the Brita System on my kitchen faucet this morning. The Pur System leaked, sprayed, etc.; there was no fixing it and I had had enough.

Of course it wasn't going without a fight...the wretched beast that had absolutely no trouble loosening on its own on a near daily basis was now holding on so tight that I had to beat it with a hammer (a small, ladylike hammer, with a hand painted floral handle). OK, I really just tapped that thingy-ring thing that screws onto the faucet because it steadfastly refused to budge...mocking me.

I love to watch when my dog strolls out to greet people who come over. Today we had the appliance guy over and he was chatting with me (I know him from years ago!) and she strolled out..his eyes got HUGE...and he looks at me like a child asking his mother for protection...(gentle laugh)I have to smile because she is so non aggressive and such a lovely lady...I did comfort him as well because I know service folks are forever getting bit by animals when they go into private homes. My daughter's 18th birthday party was today. She is a kid with medical special needs and learning disabilities, and it hasn't been easy getting to this point. Today, I smiled:

...there were 16 high schoolers at her party, typical kids as well as all kinds of special needs. They all seemed to be having a good time, and two stayed for a sleepover.

...I stopped on the way home to pick up some freecycled lily of the valley shoots.

...I also stopped to get some Indian food for dinner.

I have the windows open and can hear my neighbors on the porch downstairs...

The young woman downstairs (who is expecting her first baby)... is softly singing lullabies. To see this young woman for the first time, she comes off as a bit harsh... curt when greeting you (like she doesn't want to be bothered) covered in tattoos - mostly skulls & horror movie scenes, facial piercings and semi-goth appearance.... but she breaks the stereotype by singing sweet, gentle lullabies. I can just imagine her rubbing her pregnant belly while singing, like she did the other day.

The floor is turning out beautifully. A bit more sanding than I expected but it is definitely worth it. It will be varnished by the end of the week.

Colors are picked, woo hoo...and the winners are Weeping Willow for the bathroon, and Prairie Sage for the bedroom.

And...it gets better! I have a sink...but best of all I have the installation instructions in hand BEFORE I rip another wall out. Woot woot!

Celebrating birthdays. It's my mom's birthday & one of my very good friend's birithday, too. I have lunch plans with my mom today at her favorite bistro and dinner plans tonight for margaritas on the patio at my friend's favorite restaurant.

*not to mention, last night the beast (chester) took a moment's opportunity and ran out into the dark at 12:30 am... after about 20 minutes i found him (we split up, i went into a canyon and ez went the opposite way into the neighborhood) and i'm trying to carry all of his 30 lbs and this big flashlight and right around the corner comes ez, rescuing us in his truck--and the whole time i knew he'd be along any minute and even though i couldn't see his truck when i saw lights coming down the street i knew it was him.

after being relieved that he was found... he wanted to tase him.

So, I was on my way to Homo Depot for two bottles of stuff. Imagine my glee when I discovered a Lowes has been built right next to it while I was gone. I pulled in at high speed and yep..it was open.

I left with many bottles of stuff, 3 Calla Lillies, 2 fruit bearing Holly shrubs, and paint samples.

Then, I came home and pan fried Haddock and potatoes and steamed green beans.

The whole day made me smile!

1,462 days ago (or 4 years and 1 day) Pisceanstar and I met for the first time in the flesh.

I recall ooohing and aaaahing with a certain lyrical girl about what I would wear to the diner that morning. Will it be a skirt, no,no... maybe jeans... (much giggling ensued!)

I went with a pair of jeans and tight white t-shirt. Of course.. she was there with another lady at the time, but.. you know, it was THE "Pisceanstar" ... I had noticed her on the dash since 2004 sometime and missed meeting her at the 2005 bash... so I was pretty stoked.

I geeked out and hugged her the moment I met her. Apparently that's when she realized I had nice sexy big (ahem!) .... and fantasy file #42 began ;)

Four years later... my goodness... I feel so blessed and grateful to the universe for bringing us together.

Here I am now... chasing cars and dreams with the absolute love of my life. Lucky, lucky me.

I did a lot of smiling for about 30 hours. Went on a road trip with an old friend. Left my town at 6:30pm Friday. Rolled into Oklahoma City at 3am. While posting in the what made me sad today, I remembered 2 yrs ago Nannie bought some wrinkle cream. The high dollar stuff from Belks. She used it about a month and ask Mom one Saturday, did she think it was doing any good because she was out of it and was wondering if she should buy more. LOL Remember now Nannie was 85, 2 yrs ago. I was thinking then and now if ya live to be 85 yrs old who cares if ya have wrinkles.

Actually she aged well, she didn't have much gray hair until probably the last 10 yrs and she still doesn't have much for wrinkles not to be 87 yrs old.
