I got to work today with My parents at their floral shop, getting ready for Pride this weekend. Every year in Winnipeg's Pride, a bunch of businesses are under a big tent either promoting things within the GLBTQ community or selling their products. My parents have these special flowers, called rainbow roses, which are roses from Equador where every individual petal is injected with a special dye that makes the roses rainbow colors! They will be selling them at Pride this year, individual flowers as well as corsages and boutonnaires ............. these flowers are beautiful and absolutely perfect for Pride :-)

I spoke to my client and negotiate a new pay agreement for my services on Monday, Today she responded and to my surprise she agreed. I was also surprised that she was willing to start this week and pay it today, not next Friday as I had proposed.

Going for a 16 mile bike ride with Miss Pinky this morning before it got blazing hot. I was disciplined enough to stay in my target heart rate zone and not HAMMER it like someone was chasing me! The greenway was beautiful, Miss Pinky is the BEST companion in the world and I wonder why I ever get off of my bike; I love it THAT much! Now it's time for lunch and a matinee movie date to see X-Men: First Class on the BIG SCREEN!!

Coming back into the exam room with 14 pound mad orange tabby in the carrier, the Vet said "He's in good shape for his age..."

I winced as my 18 year old kitty glared at me.

I took Peaches Boi to get his vacinations. He gave a urine specimen. He had his blood pressure monitored. His kidney function is that of an 18 year old cat, and he has been on Kidney food for a year. He now has high blood pressure. :glasses:

Vet called said his lab work is "Perfect".. I said "For his age". He said, "For any age.", and laughed.

I did this one time on my way down to visit a friend in Virginia. I pulled up to the window - and there was a jeep full of college-aged boys in behind me and the driver winked at me in the reflection of my side mirror and his buddies were giving him a hard time. I gave the cashier $30 and told her to get the boys whatever they wanted that would cover the $30.

I smiled and waved as I drove off, and never saw them again. Those are the sort of gifts I love giving, b/c it's truly a gift with nothing expected in return. As I turned the corner, I could hear them honking their horn repeatedly!

I'm sure the Starbucks crowd loved that so early in the morning. :|

Just thinking about how happy I am with my life!

I have a fantastic wife,

We have our health,
We have our fur children,
and we have wonderful friends and family!

Life is genuinely great on all facets!

It is the first time in many, many years that all of these components have lined up in a positive fashion at the same time and for that, I am grateful!

Got a packet from the kiddo's school. I pulled it out thinking, ugh... "please let him pass, please let him pass, please let pass", because he had a really rough time with a couple subjects and I honestly didn't know if he had done well enough in those to let him go on to 7th grade. It also didn't help that he has been telling me "I think I failed. I think I bombed the tests."

Imagine my surprise when the first thing I pulled out was a lovely lil certificate that said "Honor Roll". His end of grade testing counted a lot towards the final grades for each class, but apparantly, he nailed it. His report card for the final tally was pretty darn impressive. One low-80 grade in one class and the rest were high-90s. He even made a 99 in his math class for the year. I looked at him and said "You told me you thought you failed the tests!!" He gave me his usual cocky rockstar grin and said, "Yeah, and you were gullible enough to believe me." I wanted to throw my shoe at him. But I can't, because he gets it honest from his mother. LOL

Awesome grades and another year down. Definitely made me smile. :D

Taking my girlfriend's son to his first appointment with a "hair stylist" and seeing him smile after seeing how handsome he looked!

He is a teen, but has never cared much about how he has looked. It was neat to see him feel good about himself.

Then smiled and told my boss they had to put out $30 million dollars on bringing things up to speed, hiring new staff and consultants , and another $ 15 million to fix things after our team visited him. :fastdraq:

My boss said" Is that all? Have you heard the story about $300 million another firm paid? It's in the news. My staff is good for the economy,"

I have a friend who lives 2hrs and 22 minutes away. It's a long, time consuming, drive. But, I have three vehicles: two cars and a motorcycle. If I used all three of them, it would cut my drive time down to 74 minutes.

I don't usually believe in "good signs" or "bad signs", random "Omens" w/o a very good reason, but today was just....Crammed with bad feeling...The breaking point was when I arrived at the Hospital and suddenly remembered a previous bad experience in the same place...
On top of that, Registry lady insisted I still do Surgery after dropping a bomb on me about co-pay.
There's no way I could afford a 1,000 ${U.S.D} co-pay, she kept saying "do the surgery deal with co-pay later" fuck you, it's my credit, my bill, my debt.....
We got in touch with my Insurance, and while my Mother fought with them, I kept staring at a bunch of papers on the Volunteer desk, for those wishing to Request prayers..
My insurance demanded to speak with me, regardless of the fact my hearing aids aren't compatible with her phone or that I'm Deaf...
All this just ....Hit me like ice water, and I said "No, we're not doing this today."
All hell broke lose, the only fucking thing everyone didnt do was haul the damned Hospital Admin. to coerce me to change my mind....
All their "Efforts" did was cement my decision.
They even brought a Sign Language Interpreter, to make sure I understood, I explained exactly how I felt to her and she agreed with me while the Surgeon, secretary, RN, Register and my mother stood by asking what we were signing, she would raise her hand to tell 'em to wait.

When I got home, the well-wishes, support, and encouragement was overwhelmingly uplifting and much needed,,
It made me smile, and I realized I truly did make the right move.
And yeah it's going to be rescheduled, and the Surgeon was rather sympathetic.

Hot as Hell outside I've gotten sick last night from the heat. Got up this morning went into work still sick. My boss locked me up with two fans blowing on me in his office. :).

The woman at work who has told me she's crushing on me bringing me a tuna sandwich from home. And me feeling bad cause I have no interest in her.

My best friend and her gf from past night at dinner making fun of me cause a woman has approached the table to ask me for the ash tray next to me. And me being oblivious to the fact she sat down at the table next to me staring Again no interest. I had no idea that was flirting. :)

Spent my day hunting out overpriced antique shops along the coast. The weather was cool and grey until I hit Santa Barbara, then ka-pow! Gorgeous sun. Every song my iPod played on random was perfect, the weather was sweet, and I brought home a box full of fruit from a farm off of the 126.

Okay, this is from yesterday but I didn't have a chance to share. On my drive home from a long meeting I saw not one but TWO shooting stars.

I wished for a unicorn and a pony, in case you were wondering.

Okay, not really, but a unicorn and pony would be fun.

Thinking of all the fun times I've had with Gramma D.
Knowing she raised a good person, with good, solid moral and ethical beliefs.
She pulled me out of a quagmire of a childhood filled with abuse and neglect, and an early adulthood strife with near-fatal domestic violence to teach me amazingly strong life skills, coping skills and integrity. She taught me to survive, to be proactive in my life's choices and to be proud of who I am and of my accomplishments. She taught me to be independent, both in my personal life and my thought process. She was and is my mentor and guiding light.

Thoughts of all the many things she taught me, makes me smile.
Thoughts of all the fun times and laughter, makes me smile.
Thoughts of what she means to me, makes my heart smile.
Thoughts of the strength, moral and ethics she shared with me, makes my heart swell with pride.

My thoughts have been consumed with Gramma D, of late, because of her current insurmountable hardships and pain.

I smile because I know her legacy lives on in me.
I smile because I know the person she raised is a confident, secure, loving, honest, respectful, respectable, mature, evolved human being.

I've come a long way since I first started to follow in her shadow. I know she would not want me to succumb to anguish over her situation or suffering. She would want me to celebrate what we have shared together, what we have learned from each other and what we mean to each other.
She would want me to end my evenings with a smile and happiness.

That, I can promise her, I do every evening...right after I send a "wish on a star" to protect and watch over her.

I am secure and confident in who I am and the good things I hold within me. I am proud of the Woman she sculpted me to become.
This evening's smiles, contentment and happiness are in dedication to Gramma D.
This is how she would want me to live my life and end my evenings.

Receiving lots of support and suggestions from friends on my self-employment and grant funding questions. They all came through for me, especially one friend who called me while she was at work to tell me about exciting news and possibilities that I didn't know was available. It was exciting to hear there is hope for becoming an Art Therapist for Medicaid/Medicare Patients or opening an Art Therapy Office in the near future!! An amazing network of supportive friends made me smile!!

And Christie's post about her fancy new kitchen appliances made me smile!

My niece and I walked down to watch the Extreme Home Makeover Home Edition work on the Keefer home. It's coming along so fast. They have to finish it by Sunday.
It's so cool to just hang out there and watch them work and see it all being filmed for tv.

I went over to the Extreme Home Makeover project in my town again this evening. And a guy named Paulie came out and was talking with us and taking pics, signing autographs. I don't watch the show so I didn't know who he was, but he was incredibly nice to all of us. Awesome. And the people were loving it.

Oh........and the show's staff said that the neighbors of the Keefers were the friendliest and most cooperative of any makeover they've ever done.
Yep.....I'm braggin' about it. :cheesy:
