What made me smile this afternoon...

Finding some pictures from a few years ago, of friends that I adore more than anything in the world. So many great times with amazing memories that will last me a lifetime.

A smile filled lunch date with my momma.

my son and his girlfriend have been having serious issues- this chick is a piece of work I tell ya- my grandsons can't even go over to their dads house no more cuz she pitches a fit... anywayssssss so she up and decides 2 days ago to go sign a lease on a new place, then proceeds to throw the said lease at my kid- right in his face, just another petty attempt to bait him-

I have been very patient... I have been very nice...........

so what made me smile today?
Walking my happy ass right up into her house, and very nicely, very calmly and very directly calling her on her shit- then informing her that all of the "joint" bills that they shared.... were now all hers. We removed my kids name from all of it.

Informed her trifiling ass that the lease for the house is in her name only now...(spoke to their landlord who is a friend of mine) and informed him that my son would be moving into my home as of tomorrow-so she now has 2 leases- andddddddd- I very convincingly told her that MY grandsons WOULD be there to sleep in THEIR room tonite,
and if there was a problem, then we could handle it right here right now-

She never even opened that smartass mouth- except to say... yes ma'am.
yeah... it's the little things that make me smile.

Romeo one of my male feral cats rolled on his back today and let me rub his tummy. This is huge trust for any animal to be on their back and vulnerable let along a feral cat. It took him over a year to trust me like this. It bought me joy.

This is so awesome! I love it when they finally get it!

This morning...
Waking to the sunrise on one side of the house...and a beautiful moon still in the sky on the other side!! Ohhhh how I love those kinda mornings!! I especially love the Harvest Moon and Hunter's Moon in October and November!

http://www.weathernewengland.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/harvest-moon_4.jpg

When my son was weeeeee little, my sister went away with the military. He was soooooo attached to "his Annie" that he was always so homesick for her. We came up with a way to help him... they both LOVED the moon and stars and anything to do with space travel. When she would call at night, she would say "you see that moon tonight? Isn't it beautiful? Now honey, remember, no matter where I am in the world, I am looking at the same moon.".... I always thought that was such a cool way to tell a little kid that you are always close at heart and not far away from them. Having that connection to the moon made a bond and took away his homesickness and loneliness. To this day, nearly 20 years later, this story always brings a smile and fond memories. He got so he would call the crescent moon "my moon" and the full moon "Annie's moon"... I LOVE that!! and wish I could write a children's book about this titled "Annie's moon".

Letting my dad take the lead in our project.. (actually my project, he's just taken over..)

I was bitching about it to my love when she said something that struck me as truth..
(Paraphrased)

He is your dad.. He is always going to see you as his lil girl.. He is always going to try to teach you.. He is always going to have to be the *Boss* and you be the *helper*

So.. we are now doing it my dad's way.. and it's taking twice as long..

BUT...

I got to thinking.... My dad is around to frustrate me, to crank me out, to slow me down... And I am grateful for it..

Going over to my friends' house. They are so cute. They have been together for a few years now, and moved into a new house. I got my dining room set from them last weekend, and being a bachelor I dont have much kitchen stuff since I eat out alot. I was given whatever they had two of.. So pots and pans, Iced Tea Maker, Food Processor, Mixer, and an insulated lunch bag to start taking my lunches in.
Im so grateful for the things they just gave me.

One of them was laid off a few months after they started dating and found a job makes 4xs less than what she was used too, and recently had an interview to put her back in the type of position she was in...

They just got their new house. Watching at how much in love they are is just so refreshing. I love seeing couples who compliment each other.

Enjoying Mom's company today at lunch, and seeing her eyes light up when I handed her Easter flowers. She was so thrilled at what I picked out! Really made my day!

While we were at the diner... I stepped away to go look at the homemade desserts in the glass cooler... when I got back, she had this silly look and smile. She put her napkin up to her face and whispered "That guy said you have really pretty curls."... I said "what guy?"... she said "the OLD one sitting over there...STOP, don't look around! I told him 'ya know how it is, when they have curly hair they hate it, when they have straight hair they hate it." and she gave this really goofy look that made her eyes light up. She is SUCH A GOOF!! She hates it when I straighten my curls. When she lost her hair from the chemo, I promised her I would cut all mine off and have "Locks of Love" make her a wig. She made this "sour-puss" look and said "no, I can't have you doing that, it's taken you YEARS to grow it so long."... instead, we went hat shopping and she picked out a BUNCH of goofy hats, fluffy hats, handmade hats, classy hats, and EAR warmers. That whole day, after crying together about loosing her hair, we really had a great time together trying on and picking out her favorite hats.

My Mom in all her Goofiness made me smile!!

THE SUNSHINE!!
Two Mourning Doves just outside my window delightfully pecking at the food I put out. I got so close to them before they realized I was there... when one saw me, she just tilted her little head up and winked at me, then waddled off down the porch roof. She was so close that I could see the color and details around her eyes. BEAUTIFUL!

A call from a far away friend, getting to hear them laugh and enjoy their wonderful spirit. They always seem to wash away my bad feelings without even talking about those feelings. I love to see their smile or goofy grin light up their eyes.

This morning, while I was trying to sleep in, I was laying on my belly with my arms up around my pillow... Willy Bear jumped up, snuggled in next to me and laid his little head on my back. Tashi hesitated then jumped up and laid her chin on the back of my knee very lightly. They were so tender and sweet. They always know when I don't feel good or had a bad night.

Looking out my window and seeing all the flowering trees in bloom... thinking I should make a trip down to DC/Baltimore/Fairfax to see all the cherry trees and visit my Great Gramma's graveside. Where she lays in rest is FILLED with cherry trees and beautiful water gardens.

Thinking, getting excited about, an idea/plan I want to discuss with my landlord/new boss about running a new franchise for him in a different state. He owns it, I do almost all the work getting and keeping it running. I've been so excited about this idea all week that you can't smack the smile off my face!!

I LOVE :smladybug: :smladybug: :smladybug: :smladybug: :smladybug:

While I was typing this, I dropped my bath towel from my hair onto the floor next to me. It landed on Willy Bear... who loves his Momma so much that he didn't even move or get startled. The dog was sitting on the chair and the cat was standing next to it on the floor.

The dog would swipe the cat's ears with her paws and the cat would get a bit of a scratch/rub behind the ears.

They were both enjoying themselves.

Had to share a part of my day:

I went to my daughters hose today to die eggs with my grandchildren.
Not all were there but I had a daycare going on thats for sure...lol
Well all was going well with dieing eggs, along with my hands..smiles
That was untill my 3 year old and both my two year old grandsons ganged up on grandam...lol

They decided Grandma needed a lil color..I guess
Long story short, I have rainbow hands, and beautifully colored art on my face from the three of em...lol

I look like a bag of popcycles exploded on me!
Ohhh and I didn't mention..It was the vivid color die!...yikes.
That stuff is like a permanant marker..Learn something new everyday...lol

Time to go find something to remove my new found beauty...lol

Have A Beautiful Easter!

My phone rang today - one of my twins, asking if he could pop over with his G/F.

Asking if they were hungry, I naturally received a HUGE yes.

Done my heart good to watch my son, along with his lovely girlfriend, devour a Rib Eye Steak in minutes flat.

What is it about Mom's that make us feel so good to see our children eat something we prepared for them? Whatever . . . . . . they were great company for the hour they were here and I'm one very happy doting Mother!

Hmmm, where to start ....

** Getting all dressed up for church this morning (purple and all)
** Singing in church
** Seeing one of my long-time friends and her sixth-month-old boy, who is just beautiful.
** My cousin's son not being happy with children's church and curling up into mom's arm -- (wait for it ..) and then using her sleeve to blow and wipe his nose. I wonder if the preacher heard us snickering.
** The annual picture taking before the removal of the dress clothes and escape into jeans.
** Mom's cooking.
** Letting my mind wander ...and picture the future.

It's been a good day. *smile*

My son told me he saw someone "dressed in black" prowling around downstairs, so we each grabbed a weapon (me a brass back scratcher, he a baseball bat). We slooooowwwwlllyyyy crept down the stairs all stealthy like and checked the closets, the bathroom, the laundry room, the garage.

No man, no ghosts in black.

I often bring my dog, Fisher lou :schnauzer:, to work with me. He has developed quite a following at the store. One of his fans is a little girl who is developmentally delayed, who I will call Mickie. Mickie's mother purposely stops in on Tuesdays and Thursdays so her daughter and Fisher lou can visit for a minute or two. Today Fisher lou went home early and missed said appointment. :( I explained to Mickie that Fisher was not here today and apologized profusely. I assured her he would be here next Tuesday and as she left the store I told her I would let him know she had been asking for him. She thanked me as she went out the door and then called back over her shoulder "Please tell him I love him too!". That heartfelt remark from a little girl made her mother, me, and the customer who was at the register all break out in smiles and laughter.

Myron was so bagged from chasing crickets last night. He didn't have the energy to climb all the way up into his usual spot on the back wall of his frog house. He made it halfway up through the vines and just stopped. He was totally invisible when I went out to greet him this morning. All I could see was this fat little white belly sticking out and a set of froggy little toes and fingers curled around one of the leaves on his vine. :frog::giggle:

I was reading about Theo's frog and enjoying that post when in the back of my brain an alert went off. I could hear Blossom barking. A lot. She's a Shih Tzu and hardly does that. Plus, I could her hear barking from somewhere NOT in the fenced in backyard on the pond.

Panic ensued. I ran upstairs and opened the main door and there she was...dazed and confused in an old rose garden area in the unfenced front yard, barking her head off and standing there waiting for something.

As soon as I called to her, she came running.

The walls have eyes and ears, Bo.....eyes and ears and a mouth that spits out every curse or inappropriate word you've ever uttered around those cute lil ears and eyes....

Cool. He'll be a mini Bo. :beerbros:

Sitting on the deck this morning, and drinking a really good cup of joe talking with my neighbor. Out of our eyes crawls up a small geico and his/her mother. The two sit there on the ledge of my deck enjoying the sun, and our conversation. My neighbor tells me that I am most definitely St. Francis of Assisi in real time. Another animal species coming to find me. :drummer:

Yesterday I was sick almost the whole night. I pretty much lost about 8lbs in less than 24hrs. As the day went on I started to feel better. My gal bought me gatorade, made me toast, then tonight a little bit of chicken and rice. We watched "Nurse Jackie" and "the United States of Tara" together with all our dogs piled on the bed with us.
I'm feeling much better.

Fruity beer...they are quite tasty! Great for a cold drink, not something one would sit and drink all night to get plowed on.

Sounds like you are all prepped for one!

Cat Fascination

The recently released iPad is, in the words of Apple cofounder and CEO Steve Jobs, a "magical and revolutionary product." That may be true from the human perspective, but how does the feline species feel about the touch-screen device?
One cat owner aimed to find out. He placed his iPad in front his cat, Iggy, to see just how user-friendly the device really is. Watch below...

wdfp5Jmf2IQ

As you can see, Iggy finds the device quite user-friendly. Not shy about diving in with paws first, the curious cat especially enjoys creating music on the iPad's piano.* If only it came with a yarn app...

plants...that made me smile today...

I intended to get street parking at the hall of justice today and I have to bake for my mother and send it out to the east coast on monday I decided to hit Trader Joe's on the way to get nuts...TJ is 3 minutes from the hall...I was there at 8am when it opened and was thrilled by all the lovely flowers at the front of the store...suddenly I was overtaken and found I'd put 3 pots of fuchsia, two pots of erica feathers and pot with mint and spearmint and some other herbs all growing together in my cart...

when I finally got home I put them out on the back table...so now, in place of the no-longer-blooming- daffodils and tulips, I have the fuchsia and heather and herbs...

that made me smile...

add to that the vision of the yet to be planted, but still hopefully anticipated tomato plants...nice...

all the other flowering bushes are abloom...the wild climbing roses are climbing...the brambles of the wild black berries are taking over the whole space, as they do when I don't keep cutting them back...and all in all the back yard is pretty...

I sure wish I could feed the birds again...too risky, though...
