Smiling because my girl is starting to recognize her own worth and amazing progress, and seeing what others see. She is a rockstar and I am incredibly proud of her.

Also smiling because I know she will crack up when she wakes to my offlines about being her frustrated shopping geek...but dangit, it's already Friday there, ALL the ads should be available if I am to do my job right, SHEESH.

Received my offer letter for a new job. Unemployed no more! It is an amazing offer, a better offer than I had hoped for, and better than I have ever had in any job really. Its also with a great company, so it should be a fun time! I am looking forward to meeting new people and having new experiences.

i am SO proud of myself today, for going - for stepping up to that podium, and delivering a speech to 9 women, 6 case managers & some friends and family of the graduates, who completed a self - esteem course and were graduating today - the same course i completed back in 2008... i can't even describe how that made me feel, but can say that i free talked it, and talked from the heart, and i am touched they indeed felt hope and inspiration to begin a journey of their own ...

this is my passion, to pay it forward.. And this was my first step.. proud of myself, but damn i am proud of THEM, 9 women i've never met (cept one) who shared the challenges and their testimonials & i want this so badly for them.. They, in turn, inspired ME - their courage, their determination and love for one another after spending 6 weeks (3 hours a day, 5 days a week) in a classroom together..

Meeting with the Instructor for lunch on Monday, she's very much involved in the things i am passionate about (women in poverty, self esteem, addictions...etc) She has big plans and i'm excited to meet with her!

It means a lot to me, that as i am walking my journey, i feel i can do something good with how far i've come so far.. Paying it forward is the most rewarding experience and this newfound confidence of mine, kicks some serious hiney - because if someone told me i would be walking up to a podium and delivering a speech to a room full of onlookers a year ago - i wouldn't have believed it..

It just feels damn good.

She's a foxy one...........

So the other day I am sitting on the couch. Scooby (one of my dogs) is sitting next to me. Now before I go further, Scooby is a possessive dog. Possessive of me, the toys (all of them), his food, etc. If Vegas shows interest in the toys - or whatever he thinks is his he growls and acts all fierce even though Vegas is the dominant dog. Now my other dog, Vegas, isn't too possessive. She's thirteen years old and Scoob is about seven or so.

So I'm sitting on the couch, Scoob is too. Vegas walks into the livingroom and goes to one of the toys and starts 'nosing' it and BAM! Scooby jumps off the couch to let ole Vegas know that is HIS toy. She relents and Scooby attacks the toy and starts playing with it. Meanwhile, ole Veg mosies over to the couch and jumps up and lays next to me which Scooby would never had allowed when he was laying there.

I had to laugh out loud cause my ole foxy dog totally outsmarted Scoobers. She played him like a fiddle, cause she knew he wouldn't let her on the couch and she knew if she acted like she wanted the toy then he would want it and she knew he'd get off the couch and try to take it from her and then she could get on the couch without harassment.

Now that's a pretty smart dog! :)

He is everything I could have ever asked for, dreamed of, thought of, prayed for, and soooooo very much more! I am so very blessed and so very loved.

Okay so there's this elderly woman that I have seen and talked to around town since I moved here 10 years ago. We see each other mostly on the bus but today as I was leaving the mall she was standing inside the doors waiting for the bus. She is super elderly but still going strong. She had missed her bus earlier and was wanting to hit up the bathroom (I know probably too much info but...) and wasn't sure when her next bus was coming. I offered to go out in the bitter winds and check the route map to let her know how much time she had. She, in all her sweet caring ways said to me, "Now be careful it's mighty cold out there and I don't want you getting sick for my sake." How can you not want to help someone like this out and.... smile! :)

What made me smile today? Seriously? Those kids at the adolescent homeless shelter made me smile today!! The trust is building... at their pace... and I am absolutely loving it. - a hard workout tonight, & making a new friend at the Gym, which turned into me signing up for a Marathon in August - i better get training now! ♥
- a lovely evening with my Daddy last night, we made delicious healthy pizzas with pita bread & the fixings, and it was SO delicious, we made more today! LOVE experiment cooking with Him, LOVE that i have my passion for cooking back and that food is no longer my enemy..
- my daughter coming home tonight from a basketball game, with her face painted for school spirit - hehehe.

My vacation plans are in order. My hotel room is booked. I will be on a beach in the sunshine state by midday Monday. Oh, and it's my first ever "loner" vacation (rather than with a significant other or family). This is a step towards getting over certain phobias as well as a chance to have time for myself. Ten hours to drive while singing along horribly to every cd I own, my ipod, and the radio. I'm super excited and kinda proud of myself as well. :)

Kids say the darnedest things... The other day at work this little boy was NOT happy about having to get a haircut and the stylist he ended up with is honestly not so good with children. Anyway, she begins his cut and as she runs the clippers by his ear and he see's the hair fall he says... Oh my goodness, I can hear now... that is why I couldn't hear the hair was covering my ear. Then he asks her in a very sincere voice if she is going to use the clippers by his other ear because he would like to hear out of that one too... the sad part of this is she didn't *get* what he was saying and everyone else did... He went from this little boy who didn't want a haircut to a very excited little guy once he thought that the hair not being over his ears made him able to hear... This is one of the reasons I love my job so much...

My nine year old daughter has her first real friend. Back and forth from house to house and all involved... as such... I have my first real mommy friend. I spent 30 min on the phone with the mom today, talking about the community, our scary neighbors, and setting up her daughter coming to my house one day next month so she can go to an appointment out of town.

I have wanted a mom friend for a while now, I am so excited.

Playing wall ball with a special needs 5th grader made me smile today.

My son being helpful and capable...offering to help me figure out the stuck sliding glass door...and being calm, patient and involved as we figured it out.

After some WD-40 and coordinated push/pull....we got it open, after months and months of it being stuck closed. Then we cleaned out the tracks, lubricated the whole thing...and it works like a charm.

As soon as we finished he offered to do the others. I told him yes, but we would wait for daylight. :)

It was so nice to feel the breeze and fresh air in the master bedroom again. :)

He's turning into a wonderful young man....not only an honor student, but really stepping up to help me around the house and generally without even being asked. I'm proud of him.

I did the same thing in college, lots of research and over 200 interviews before entering the industry myself. :) (I realize that may not be her trajectory) but I'm excited to meet her and get my gears turning for a femme conference workshop I wanna put together.

A couple things made me smile today. A friend who always is there for me no matter what. I really do appreciate her in my life. I don't really think I tell her often enough. The second thing that made me smile was my pup, Ginger. Ginger wanted so badly to go bye byes in the car today when I went to the grocery store, but I told her I would return with something for her. She loved that I got her something while I was out. *Smile.
