THE SOUND OF HER SWEET LITTLE SLEEPY VOICE WHEN I CALL TO SAY GOOD MORNING... MAKE ME SMILE THE WHOLE DAY...
Taking a stressed-out trainee from hysterical sobs to laughter, and then having her stop on her way out, just to whisper 'thank you' -- it made my afternoon.

My son coming home and right away wanting to show me his progress report from school..........and he is doing GREAT!!!!! he is at the top (excellent!) of his report card for science (something he did not enjoy or did not do so great at in grade 7 & 8)
Then he recites this poem that he wrote for English that made me feel the poem and what he wrote....(again something he never enjoyed)
Not only am I proud of my son today and always but he showed me just how proud he was tonight :)

I just had a really nice coming out experience. I talked to someone I havent seen in ages and we where asking the usual, how are you etc when he asked if I was still dating older men. I (feeling particularly brave) told him I had switched to older women and he asked if older men were that bad, and we just laughed about it. It was like it was no big deal at all. So that made me smile and the feeling that coming out is getting easier the more comfortable I am with being gay:)

I've had plenty of reasons to smile:
~ My b-day being tomorrow; as well as organizing a few friends to go out with me Saturday evening for dinner and a movie to celebrate said birthday
~ Less than a month until I am off to Calgary to see my butch :D
~ When she calls me babygirl or my girl, or my lover, I get all tingly inside
~ Hearing her voice on the phone and how our words just flow as if we've known one another for years and its not even been three months

First off what made me smile real BIG was a sweet loving text from my girl (f) on our 4th anniversary (of us being a couple) as I woke up for work :)
Also smiling because we have endured so much in the past 4 years and we are stronger than ever :)
What made me smile big and laugh out loud (and I was alone :|) is when I got home, noticed my son had been putting lil practical "jokes" around the house lol
One more thing........getting home by 5:15 pm and making a decent meal instead of getting home around 6:30 pm (one of the perks from new job is getting home at a decent enough hour:) )

on the hike out I first heard, then saw 2 red headed woodpeckers....and 2 doe...

What, or rather who, made me smile today .............
The butch of my dreams, someone who has completely captured my heart, called me the love of her life today and I swear that my heart pounded so fast I thought it was coming out of my chest. After last year's failed attempt at being married to someone I thought was the one, I meet my boi and suddenly I am with someone who truly knows what it means to love and shows me every single moment of the day just how special I am. I have found the one that I have waited for my whole life, and at the end of this month I get to spend a weekend with her :)
I'm SO beyond excited and happy; so very thankful for her love and the way she makes me feel ......... I am so very much in love with her and I couldn't be more glad that she is part of my life and will be for what I am hoping is forever (f)

I am having work done on my house in St. Louis. Ripping the 60's wood paneling wainscot and ending it with a quick death for one. (Jeeez that is so unattractive.) Floating and painting the walls follows. The woman who I hired for this task applied KILZ sealing product (okay good product, just open the windows).
BUT.....
After she finished, she put the roller full of KILZ in my refrigerator, wrapped in a plastic bag. STILL.....Guess what I had for dinner last night? KILZ sandwich, KILZ grapefruit juice to wash it down and a KILZ candy bar! Don't be envious gentle readers, I am high enough for all of us.
Not upset, my nose and mouth tastes like KILZ. Yet, this made me smile. Thank you lady contractor!

It didn't start as a smile...
Yesterday a pop up storm came rolling thru. (My fave by the way. Love to watch cloud formations and the sky darken. The sounds of big drops on the roof. And the surprise little hail pieces. ) As I was enjoying this, I remembered how I left my bed room window open. Mind you, I recently moved my bed under this now open window. This storm, opened up and made all the land super soaked. Thinking...my pillow was going to be wet. The more the rain came, I thought, now my mattress was going to be wet.
Came home, and sighed along with a smile. I was lucky! Not a drop. This storm must have blown against the other sides of the house! The storms left and I was able to see stars as I slept :)

Well if it were me. I would clean it up and see how it looks as you may be surprised. Then if you don't like it cover it up with what you bought, besides if you do put the planks on putting it on a clean floor will make it easy to apply.

yesterday.......
I went to see my brother....and I actually thought to mention the bike he said he had for me....
he got it out of the shed....put air in the tires....greased the chain...and told me to give it a try....
I hadnt been on a bike in some 20 years...(not since my cousins bikes brakes failed on me going down a hill). I told him this and he said "dont worry....you never forget".
When I was a kid I literally lived on my bike...it was freedom...like your first car...
So....I hopped on....started down the street (incidentally, the same street I first learned to ride my bike on as a kid) wobbly at first...then building confidence as I went along....the brakes were tricky...my first (and only) bike had the brakes where you just went back on the pedals....but....by the time I got home I felt like I was 10 again and couldnt stop smiling....... :)

the quickest phone call Ive ever had with a government agency.....
I was doing a paper purge....and came upon a letter from the Dept of Education. They had taken nearly all my tax return a few years back....and told me I was free and clear on my student loans.....
well.....
every time I apply for financial aid I get denied because they report back I still owe....I called the number on the letter and in less than 10 minutes...including hold time...I got it cleared up...Im to receive a letter stating such and when I get where Im going and apply to school(s) they said its easy enough to fax the necessary form directly to the financial aid department.....

We asked HuffPost editors which sayings bother them the most, and found that the common thread among the responses was uselessness.
Often, the phrases that we find off-putting are those that serve as conversational fillers, implying that the speaker is vapid or has little else to contribute to the conversation.
Business and Internet jargon ("There's no 'I' in team" and "This. So much this," respectively) are irritating in their own rights, but phrases said in day-to-day conversation can be the most grating.
Here are 22 common expressions people secretly hate. Let us know which sayings you dislike in the comments!:
"Everything happens for a reason."
... except when it doesn't.
"If it's meant to be, it's meant to be."
"If fact #1 is true, then fact #1 is true." This falls under the "you actually just said nothing" category.
"I mean..."
This expression, like "let me think," is somewhat of a conversation hedge, so we can forgive it. Still, why call attention to the fact that you're saying what you mean? Do you normally not say what you mean?
"To be frank..."
"As opposed to the rest of the things I say, which are evasive..."
"Honestly..."
"Typically I'm lying, but in this case I'm being honest."
"Just sayin'."
Just sayin' what?! And why do you feel the need to alert people that you are, indeed, speaking? "Just sayin'" is often followed by a rude statement, in a feeble attempt to soften the blow.
"At the end of the day..."
The metaphorical version of the already trite, "when it's all said and done...". The best part? It's said at all hours of the day.
"Same difference."
So... is it the same? Or different? Are the differences between the two things that you're comparing the same?
"Do what you love."
This is a nice sentiment, but it oversimplifies the task of finding a vocation, hobby or path. Plus, it implies that everyone has the ability and funds to follow their hearts, whether their hearts desire terminal degrees, improv classes, or their very own Etsy shops.
"Let me tell you something."
Along the lines of, "Can I ask you something?" this phrase is completely needless.
"I apologize if I made you feel that way."
I.e. "I refuse to take responsibility for my actions."
"My bad."
This expression makes light of a mistake -- rather than a sincere apology, "my bad" is the verbal equivalent of a shrug.
"Sorry I'm not sorry."
Fine when used facetiously, but so irritating when said in earnest. It's a more straightforward version of the above.
"No worries."
This is fine when said to someone who had sincere worries, but is often used passive aggressively, as in: "I'm going to be a little late." "No worries!" Wait, should I have been worried?
"Chill out."
"Your concerns are not valid and are totally drowning out my Phish live stream."
"Sunday funday!"
Rhyming does not an acceptable phrase make.
"I've got a case of the Mondays."
Who wouldn't, after Sunday funday?
"Killing it."
Because what's success without severe aggression? Also, it may be physically impossible to say this phrase without simultaneously high-fiving someone.
"Work hard, play hard."
If you're really working that hard, wouldn't you need to sleep hard at some point?
"Give 110 percent."
Not possible.
"Yeah, no."
So... you mean "no"? If you mean no, just say "no"!

Beautiful women everywhere I went today. Each had their own distinguishing feature that caught my attention, and I couldn't help but smile. One had gorgeous eyes, another had a smile that would light up a runway, and another was just drop dead gorgeous from head to toe. Warm, soulful eyes and a sincere, beautiful smile are my two favorite features, but I check out the rest, too. Yeah, I can be a pig like that - don't judge!

Thinking about our trip to the trade show Tuesday. Samples of products abound as do deals if you purchase them. We sell a product called Damn Good Jerky so we stopped by their booth. After placing an order, we sampled some of the free product. I decided to hazard a bite of one of their hottest jerkys. Oooops, too hot!!! I inhaled to cool my mouth, only to suck the jerky into my windpipe. Yikes, I've caught stuff in that spot before but never have been in the position where I couldn't EXHALE. I grabbed the wife and walked off to the side of the main floor. The pinch, I inadvertently put on her arm, didn't make her happy but with the realization she might finally save a life with the Heimlich maneuver, all was forgotten. The simple fact of bending forward however seemed to open my airway and I had to insist the Heimlich was not necessary. She did get one compression in, so we may forever haggle the point of my current living and breathing status. Oh by the way, the name of the jerky......."Death by Jerky".

I am alive for another day, and i am overwhelmed with the love i experienced from my church family while inthe Hospital.
Our priest (who feints at the sight of blood) sat with my Kasey and i in the emergency room while i vomited blood in 8 large plastic buckets, an inch deep, over the space of 2 hours. God bless her, she turned white a couple of times, but managed to look the other way just in time.
Then unexpectedly i was brought a prayer shawl handmade by my women's group, and a young man delivering magazines prayed with my daughter and i.
I am so very blessed in my life.

Im watching public television with my client...as we do most weekends...
Its a show about tigers...and the film crew goes out on elephants to find tigers to film.
The lead elephant saw branches that were in its way...at eye level and pushed them aside with his trunk as he went...then...there were higher branches further along...and even though they were no concern to him ( they wouldve cleared him easily) he knew they would hit the people that were on his back....and he moved them aside as well.... :)
Elephants have long been a favorite animal of mine...for their intelligence...matriarchal tendencies and their close family bonds. Now I know they also have empathy.... :)

As I got closer, I heard them talking about how beautiful an old barn foundation was that they found on the trail. I got to talking to them ( and shared a secret in the stones of the long gone barn) and found out they were geocaching. :)
They invited me to look for a cache with them....we talked about history and archaeology. We never did find the cache. But I enjoyed my time with these lovely people....who,incidentally, were visiting from Florida... :)

Wild, the video was very cute....it is not unusual for twins to develop their own language and these two really appear to be communicating with one another.
However, to say this how what it sounds like to a butch when 2 femmes are talking bothered me. I am a butch and 2 femmes talking never reminds me of babies talking a language I dont understand.
Actually, 2 femmes talking amazes me because they often see things I do not and see things in ways I do not.
I dont think you meant to be offensive but this really was not a cool analogy.

8 courses and clinic. holy shit that was fucking grueling. It did bring my GPA down from a 4.0 to a 3.33, but next term is half as many courses and twice as much clinic, so I know I can drive it back up again.

Massage therapy. it's even more gruelling than I imagined. I was warned though! At west coast college the attrition rate is very, very high. 30% failure rate per term. at VCC we lose about three people per term because the instructors bust their asses to help us. and the higher terms will *always* tutor the lower terms when asked. we started with 29. we now have 20. I think that will slow down to 1 per term from here on in. so I should graduate in a class of 15. I do get scared I'm going to be one of the ones that doesn't make it though.

So, okay. First day of serious weed whacking and vine trimming. My rig of choice for vining is my Echo, got her out and revved her up. Trimmed about 5 feet or so, then this ginormous praying mantis jauntily walks out to greet me. She had that "I dare you to continue" face on.
Needless to say, she won. Because of her, had to use my electric trimmer that takes me 45 days to get the job done instead of the usual 45 minutes. Grrrrr. (growling in a happy way)

Sitting here looking out the window watching the hummingbirds at the hummingbird feeder and then I saw a Painted Bunting (brightly colored song bird) at the other bird feeder.
I rarely see Painted Bunting's at my feeder so I always get excited when one stops by for a snack. :)

I went hiking after work today. I was headed back to my car when I saw a couple coming up the trail towards me.
That's always fun to run into geocachers when you are out doing the same thing!

Workin on my mate's rotator cuff group. And making a whack of progress in an hour. And watching her sit up, all wobbly from an intense endorphin kick.
That always makes me grin. Down to my bones. Applying my learning makes me super happy. I do love this career choice.
she said, after sitting up "omg. Intense. I feel like I should send you a 'thanks for the sex'" text tomorrow... "

Twenty feet above the sidewalk, white chairs are attached to the walls of buildings in the Latin Quarter, with ten senior citizens sitting on them. One is knitting, another folds laundry and a third is eating. All of them appear to be floating above everyday concerns, their strange position adding an enchanting note to the cityscape. Old age becomes urban poetry, insisting that we stop and take a look.
Affixed to the façades of buildings on St. Denis Street, they are an evocative display of passing time, blurring distinctions so that life becomes art. Some might walk by without noticing them, but others will raise their heads and stop to gaze at this surprising image of mature angels adding a touch of grace to the urban space.
An undisciplined and interdisciplinary German artist who specializes in site-specific interventions, Angie Hiesl concocted this “human exhibit” so that we might view elderly people as works of art. After winning over audiences in Europe and South America, her group will make its North American début with this beautifully disconcerting performance installation.

Your post made me smile today! I wish I could've repped it 50x. I love this concept and I admire the very brave senior citizens who had the nerve to sit up in those chairs! :shocking:

Smiling. .
It was the best smile in such a long time. It was more of a different smile, the kind you give someone else. I found the angel in myself and did a wonderful deed. It involved a mother and her very sick baby. She said no and I said...please just take this and say thank you. And then...lets stop crying :)
Oh the sweetest happy tears while at work.
This smile will last a long time.

I knew it was going to be a good day when I was driving into work and just happened to turn on the radio (I'm not an avid listener). There was a show on called Strange & Beautiful Music.
So naturally the most wonderful and interesting (strange and beautiful, lol?) song ever was playing and I silently willed the DJ to mention the name of the composer at the end and he did! And I googled it this morning and I snagged that song!
It is one of those really obscure pieces, too; so I never would have found it if they hadn't said it. lol, I just kept repeating the name over and over again until I got to the traffic light and wrote it down so I wouldn't forget it.
And several spelling modifications later, voila! Love Google!

Finding a new spot to fish
Watching the dolphins nearly two dozen herding the fish near the causeway.
Among those dolphins were a few babies. One of the babies were fascinated with a few of us on the walkway, it kept stopping and poking its head out of the water to look at us. The baby would then have to swim to catch up with Mom.

Being in the right place at the right time!
As I was getting ready for class this morning, there was frantic knocking at my front door. I have an elderly neighbor lady that lives across the street with one of her adult sons, who is rather developmentally challenged... to the point where he can't really operate a telephone. We rarely talk...okay, it's more like we never talk but for the occasional smile and nod. I also seriously doubt they know I'm a medic. However, this morning I'm glad the son was comfortable coming across the street for help. Turns out his mother, who's a diabetic, fell and lost consciousness. She came around pretty quickly, but was having other difficulties with her breathing, pain etc. I suspect a broken rib as well. But it was exceptional helping out so close to home and help calm him down, as well as provide some basic aid while calling for an ambulance. I think I'm gonna chalk Friday up as a WIN!
