I'm wondering why I am seeing anti-Nancy Pelosi ads on local tv. I live on the opposite side of the country.
It was amazing to feel the bad energy flying out of the room just from cleaning (and purging) out my closet!
I LOVE it!

I've seen a few references to Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid here in Connecticut. I think the local GOP candidates are just picking the most polarizing and hated Democrats to feature in their ads. :|

If you don't have any coupons for don't find it on sale, that's par for the course. It's a really good deal to find one at $2.50 each. The cheapest I've found ice cream ever was $1.88 for one but they had a two per person limit deal.

Today has been an emotional day for me. With the vigil for our youth, watching the It Gets Better videos on FB made by friends made me cry. Then in a round about way (mothers can be so devious when tracking down wayward children thank you FB!!!) my son called me. He moved to NC to be with a woman and has not called. My son is a man but is autistic and ADHD. As a mom, it is hard to know where to draw the line. But six weeks with no calls is too long. He seems to be ok and is still in love; though the woman has a very checkered past. Four kids from three men and she has custody of none and in a custody battle with her mother and still married to hubby #3. *sigh*It is a mess! It is never easy to be a mom!

I noticed a trend today...
All the musicians that I swooned over were tall with long dark hair (except pete.. he had short dark hair, except that time he went crazy and blond.. I wasn't swooning over him so much when he was blond)
All the actresses that I swooned over were tall with long dark hair
All the people who catch my eye when out and about are tall with dark hair..
My partner is tall with long dark hair..
I think I see a pattern....
-- I bought my costumes "royal" crown, my technician "yoinked" it and called himself king for a day and told the other techs "bow down to MEEE"..One tech flipped him off and said "here's your scepter"...He smirked and retorted "I got one, but I behave"
-- I was rather stunned today on Campus for the Vigil, I had on a Purple hoodie sweater, Black turtleneck, and Purple Trousers {Armani 'Code' cologne -ahem-}..I was expecting a bit of teasing...2 people said it's actually a color that works for Me {I had to laugh}, 1 girl pissed bailey off, I was oblivious{2x4}, apparently the only thing she didnt do was throw herself on my lap....uhm..ok...
b chose to wear only a Purple vest and necktie...
Between 7:30 and 9:30 there was a panel of 20 people discussing their own Stories, those present were welcome to Share...A few tears were shed, it was very moving, at around 9:30 small purple candles were handed around, lit, reminded me of a mournful concert song...
{My inner insecurity about feeling like the kool-aid man melted away }
Cotton Candy Sweet As Gold Let Me See That Tootsie Roll!!!
This song was in my head so now everyone has to suffer.

I have this most unusual cat named Mimi; a boy cat I rescued from a neighbor who moved out last winter and callously left him behind. She must have done something right with him because he is so loveable. He loves me to pick him up when I am getting ready to sleep. Sometimes he will get into my face and let out a long pitifull but demanding Meow. Food and water bowl are full so I know he is demanding love.
I lie on my side with Mimi next to me; he cuddles up as close as possible while I am petting his face, neck and ears. After five minutes; he sighs deeply, turns his body in an impossible twist, tucking his head under my chin, while his paws are tucked between my breasts. I swear he is listening to my heartbeat. His body is molded around the other breast and he falls deeply asleep. I feel him going into REM because his limbs and whiskers start twitching. He will stay there for hours until one of us has to get up to pee. LOL What a cat and a little body warmer.

I am concerned tonight very concerned. My 16 yr old grandson admitted to me in Feb that he may be gay. And yesterday he announced on FB he was taking anti-depressants. I sent him a private message about it and he replied he was seeing a counselor and that he had been suicidal lately. Of course I have let him know how much I and the rest of the family love him!!! Offering support as well. But I do NOT want my grandson to be another statistic! I advised him that if he is being bullied to tell his parents about it immediately. I know they will get on that and not let go till it is changed. This has to stop!!!

I wish it was January already. I am ready to put this year in my rearview.
When a man walks into a room, he brings his whole life with him. He has a million reasons for being anywhere, just ask him. If you listen, he'll tell you how he got there. How he forgot where he was going, and that he woke up. If you listen, he'll tell you about the time he thought he was an angel or dreamt of being perfect. And then he'll smile with wisdom, content that he realized the world isn't perfect. We're flawed, because we want so much more. We're ruined, because we get these things, and wish for what we had. -- Don Draper ("Mad Men")

I was up late tonight and reading online at the PBS website about a Portland couple who lost their long time business and are selling off their possessions, just to keep their home. What drew my attention was a comment posted by a person going by the name of "Doug" (on Oct. 13th). I've excerpted his comment for this post and I'm leaving a link to the video and article about their situation.
I can identify with this person in so many ways! Unlike Doug spending the last years looking for work and 450 applications out, I've put out nearly 400 applications in 8 months; and his most poignant and profound insight, parallels my situation of late: "without one friend, I'd be homeless; without the other, starving." And, like Doug, I'm not eligible for unemployment: I'm a skilled tradeswoman and cannot find a suitable job in my former professional field and seemingly like Doug, I'm 51 and it appears that I cannot find a job due to my age. I might be 51, but I'm still young enough to work, I've got miles of experience, and I don't need an exhorbitant salary (a living wage is fine with me) - you'd think I could find a job, but I hold faith that the universe will help me, him and cajillions of others like us out there, to find suitable work with equitable pay.
I don't know about most of you here, but I wonder what it will take for people to realize that our country is in more than just a recession.
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/need-to-know/economy/the-new-poor-baby-boomers-in-the-jobless-crisis/4172/
"In 2005, I had a $45,000/yr job in beautiful Oregon (I had worked up from $25,000/yr just four years before). It was more than enough to support my wife and two high-school age children. But then I lost the job, partially due to illness. Soon I couldn't pay the rent, and I had to give most of my stuff away because I didn't have time to sell it.
We moved to Wisconsin to be near my wife's mom. The kids went on to college. For a time, I was making enough from self-employment work to support us, but then I lost my main client. Then I got ill again. In September '09, my wife went to live with her mom; I moved in with a friend.
I've been looking for work (something like 450 job applications in the last two years, but no one wants to hire a fifty-year old guy). Then my wife started divorce proceedings in February of this year. I then found out she put $15,000 in charges on our credit card. Then she broke her leg and charged another $15,000. The judge allocated $6,000 of the debt to me because of her medical expenses. Meanwhile, my son graduated in biology last year, and has been working since as a barista at a coffee shop (the same job he did in college). My daughter also works while putting herself through school. The only money I get is from a friend in Oregon who sends me small writing projects to do. Without one friend I'd be homeless; without the other, starving.
Since high school, I've worked hard, paid for college and graduate school, and supported my family. I used to have excellent credit, but that's gone now because of the debt my wife sprang on me. Now, I have a sizable negative worth, feel like a burden on my friends, and worry about my future, my kids' future, and yes, even my ex-wife's future. The upside is I have more time for self study and improvement through tools like the library and Internet (and W3C courses, GIMP, Kompozer, Inkscape; you get the idea). As far as our two major political parties go, one never seems to propose a program to help someone like me (I'm not eligible for unemployment, not a construction worker, not a minority, not a homeowner, and so on) while the other only cares about the rich (guess which one). Without my faith, my friends, and my family (what's left of it), I would not be able to go on another day. May things change in this country for all the decent, hardworking people like the Crandall's; this I pray." ~ Doug, October 13th, 2010 (12:43am)
This struck a nerve with me. I do believe we are in the process of ushering in a new economic reality. Our former irrational exuberance and its excesses, our so called leaders and their brilliant global economy idea, and our general greediness are coming back to bite us in the hiney.
Dont have a clue how it will end but I am seeing us go back to eradicating the middle class and setting up a very rich and very poor system.
And it really irks me when I hear politicans spouting off on how we need to put more and more money into education. We are saddling a generation with educational bills when the best they can do is get a job at Mc Donalds if they are lucky. We may need to reallocate money in education into areas where jobs are expected to be i.e. health services, math and science, and highly technical areas etc.
Ok now I am awake and my mind is off and running. Good time to start cleaning the house lmao.

What you have written including the quote from Doug also struck a note with me. Though I am now sitting here collecting Social Security; the troubling economy does reach everyone. No raise this year from SSA and next year as well but prices on just about everything including utilities, phone services, etc. continues to rise despite so many people out of work and the underpaid.
I am pissed to listening to the ads by politicians (listening because my eyes are usually buried in a book or settled on my easel) talk about issues such as Ilegal immigration, gay people adopting and marrying, abortion, tax increases (tax cuts are in from Obama thank you very much) and other such non issues!!!! Rare is the politician that is actually doing something about jobs, or the corporate greed (2 trillion dollars Corporate America has amassed since the Stock market recovered and they are now just sitting on this money) not hiring!!! There are very few people in this country or the world for that matter who have not been touched by the economy. And to hear SOME politicians discussing Obamacare (how freaking disrespectful is that!!) makes me angry considering they get "socialized" healthcare at reasonable rates paid for by us but some politicians (the Republicans) are not willing to help others get basic coverage.
While I no longer have to look for and maintain a job; family members do!!!!That felt better getting it off my chest. I mailed in my absentee ballot on Friday and not one single Republican got my vote!!!!! Not this time and probably not ever!

Bob was very bad today. When I left the house this morning, he took it upon himself to stand RIGHT outside my roommate's door and bark. Like something was wrong. And then, after being woken up from a deep sleep, when she opened the door thinking there was a fire or earthquake or something equally horrible....................he ran back to my room and jumped under the covers.
He has been banished to my room for the rest of his life.

Sign the guestbook.
When (http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2010/10/12/currently-hanging-lead-pencil-studio) you drive across the border into the United States from Vancouver, B.C., at Blaine (the main passageway), this is what you'll see.
http://www.thestranger.com/images/blogimages/2010/10/12/thumb-1286905810-364631.jpg
That's a digital rendering of the new Lead Pencil Studio artwork Non-Sign II, which is just what it says: A non-sign. The sign part is empty air; the rest is a web of metal pieces.
I talked to the artists recently about this piece, which they were commissioned to do by the federal government as it renovated the border-crossing station. Placing an artwork on a border is a great opportunity, but a weird one, too, since something like 90 percent of people will be driving by and not able to stop for an extended look. (The piece is situated on the American side of the border, just after you cross back in, along your route back onto the highway from the checkpoints.)
They noticed the way the area is packed with signs—advertising billboards, and then, closer to the border, a proliferation of government signs. Their hope is that their sign, flying by enigmatically ("What was that?"), will add a little bit of awareness to the whole signage landscape in the border zone. Just open up a free space, really. How very American. The empty rectangle frames only a view of sky as you drive by, nothing else.*
The artists are giving a talk about Non-Sign II at 4 pm on Thursday, October 28, in the Old Main Theater at Western Washington University in Bellingham. The lecture's free.
*Trivia: The Peace Arch at the border was designed by Sam Hill, the creator of the Maryhill Museum of Art, which Lead Pencil Studio created Maryhill Double in homage to back in 2006. They can't seem to get away from Sam Hill.

Holy crap! What a fan-damn-tastic weekend!!!!!!!!!!!
The music festival was incredible...Highlights - Ozzy really impressed the hell out of me. His voice was strong and clear, he remembered all the words, he rocked it solid for over an hour-and-a-half! Airborne Toxic Event was even better than I could have imagined, and Weezer is by far some of the best showmen I know! Cage the Elephant was incredibly disappointing and apparently does alot of mixing and enhancing in the studio...just sayin'.
Took Dixie and The Boy to Cafe Du Mond and Bourbon Street after the concert Halloween Night. They both walked away with beads and Dixie is super excited about going back for Mardi Gras. She's already picking out her corsets and tops to provide for maximum BEAD EARNAGE. *eg*
And how funny is it that we actually FOUND Pinkie and her gf on a Bourbon St balcony! In a city that big, without coordinating or texting. We were just working our way through the RIDICULOUSLY PACKED crowd, watching the folks up on the balcony throwing beads, when Dixie screams...."There's PinkieLee" and pointed. I used my hey-mister-throw-me-beads voice and jumping technique to get their attention. WOOOOOOOO!
And as is often the case...Dixie left musing...."I could live in N'awlins. But I'd have to ride a bike because I can't drive in theis madness." :D
A fantastic vacation. *sigh*

Wow. I wonder if that is a permanent thing? I seldom used it cause I was always afraid of downloading virus but still, thought it was one of the safer sites. Lots of public domain stuff on there.

Organic is always fixing folks' computers and taking viruses off that came from Limewire. Safety is relative.

Wow! That is good to know- my fears were correct. Plus I'm one of those damn people that feels like artists should be paid for their work- I never download stuff thats not public domain. I can understand how tempting it is tho.

I was totally freaking out because for the last 36 hours my rabbit keeps holding clumps of hay in her mouth! I thought maybe she had a pain in her mouth or something- its so weird! Even when she lays down- clump of hay in her mouth.
Well apparently she is having a false pregnancy! It's still freaking me out tho. It's very worrying. I've had her for 3 years and she never did it before.

I hope your rabbit is ok. Is she afraid someone will steal her food?
I am so worried about the Republicans gaining the House tomorrow. It is going to be brutal if they do!!!! My congressman will most likely be a Republican as Georgia is a Red State. He shall be getting letters, emails and calls from me if he messes up!

Last night's crazy conversation about food...
This conversation was between my daughter and my dad, it went as follows...
Mac.. Papa what kind of foods did mom like when she was a kid?
Dad/Papa... doesn't miss a beat... She obviously lived so I would say enough to survive!
People often wonder where I get my wicked sense of humor from...
Mind you, this just made us all laugh that much harder...
One of my comfort foods is a casserole that my Mom used to make....rice, cheddar cheese soup/milk & tuna.....but when I'm feelin' feisty (which is most days), I add jalapenos.......
I'm eating it now. It's cold and rainy. Tomorrow? Chili! :eyebat:
Me: "wait...hold up hold up...stop the fuckin train... Did u just tell me u went to Greece, and u had a fucking big mac?"...
Cousin: "In my defense, it was a craving"
Me: "-mumbles- more like epic brain-fuckin-fart  u couldn't pick Dolmas, tabouli, lamb....had to be a greasy american burger u could find at the corner of your street??"
Cousin: "I had a craving damnit!!"
Me: "U pregnant?"
Cousin: "No, smart-ass"
Me: "How much did it cost?"
Cousin: "Too much"
Me: " .....ballpark?"
Cousin: " I'll put it this way, I probably could've had caviar with it"
Me: "schmuck.....big mac, gawds...I can't believe we're related..."
Cousin : "Oh fuck u -giggle giggle-"

Why would anyone care if picked up where Zecharia Sitchin left off and dumped this whole "social work" idea?
Queen Puabi or Solution based theory?
Finding Alien DNA or One more CPS call?
Sumerian cuneiform texts or clients who tell me that God wanted them to be pregnant with an STD/STI otherwise they would not be pregnant and they would not have an STD/STI.
Really? Your going to make me choose? That is sooo messed up.

I may not be the most beautiful girl or the sexiest girl nor do I have a perfect body. I might not be everyone's first choice, but I’m a great choice. I do not pretend to be someone I’m not, because I’m good at being me. I might not be proud of some of the things in my past, but I’m proud of who I am today. So take me as I am, or watch me as I walk away!

Fed by this last election.....do You sometimes want that inside voice to come out, look someone in the eye and just say, "You're nuts."?
I know I do.
