Penguin travels 5000 miles to to visit with man who saved him.
When Joao Pereira de Souza, 71, found a starving penguin covered in oil on the rocks of an island village just outside of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he knew the bird would die without help. The retired bricklayer and part-time fisherman took the bird home and cleaned his feathers of the sticky black residue for a week, feeding him a diet of fish until he was nursed back to health. Once the penguin, named Dindim was recovered, Souza released him into the sea, never expecting to see his feathered friend again. But Dindim astonishingly reappeared four months later to say hello to the man who saved him! That was four years ago, and the penguin has been visiting every year since.

Without the help of de Souza, Dindim would have surely died on those rocks four years ago, and his showing of gratitude is nothing short of remarkable. While we’re sure glad this man has a heart big enough to save this bird, it is always best to contact a professional wildlife expert if you ever come across an animal in need. What de Souza doesn't realize is that penguins mate for life and he better have something good planned for their fifth anniversary or there will be Hell to pay.

Maternity photo shoots. Just when you thought you’d seen it all, Lilica happened. Snapped by Brazilian photographer Ana Paula Grillo, the pregnant dog proudly displays her baby bump in all its glory. This mama-to-be sets the whole new standard for looking fab.
Grillo told Bored Panda that the photo shoot lasted only 20 minutes. “It was amazing, I felt like I understood her completely,” Grillo explained. “She made sensational poses!” The next day, Lilica gave birth to 5 amazing puppies.

Disney, Marvel studios threaten to abandon productions in Georgia if Governor signs anti LGBT bill
Today, HRC praised Disney and Marvel Studios for answering a call to action from HRC President Chad Griffin, who urged Hollywood to abandon future productions in Georgia if Governor Deal signs an anti-LGBT bill, H.B. 757, into law. The appalling legislation could weaken local non-discrimination protections and allow businesses to discriminate and deny service to LGBT people, in addition to explicitly allowing discrimination by taxpayer-funded religious organizations.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a Disney spokesperson today made the following statement: “Disney and Marvel are inclusive companies, and although we have had great experiences filming in Georgia, we will plan to take our business elsewhere should any legislation allowing discriminatory practices be signed into state law.”
“We applaud Disney and Marvel for standing up for fairness and equality by sending a strong warning to Governor Deal,” said HRC President Chad Griffin. “It’s appalling that anti-LGBT activists in Georgia are trying to pass legislation creating an explicit right to discriminate against LGBT Americans. We urge other studios, major corporations, and fair-minded Georgians to continue speaking out and urging Gov. Deal to veto this heinous piece of legislation sitting on his desk.”
This past Saturday night at the Los Angeles HRC Gala, HRC President Chad Griffin addressed nearly 1,000 supporters and leaders in the entertainment industry and called on Hollywood to stop productions in Georgia if Gov. Nathan Deal doesn’t veto the new Indiana-style "license to discriminate" bill passed by the state legislature last week. According to the State of Georgia, which offers major tax incentives for entertainment companies to film in the state, at least 248 film and television productions were shot in Georgia during the state’s 2015 fiscal year. This resulted in at least $1.7 billion in direct spending as well as more than 100 new businesses relocating to or expanding in Georgia to support these activities.

Top ten most beautiful ceilings
Just tilting our heads up a few degrees reveals enormous wonder and beauty: the sky, birds, trees, planets, moons, the flying nun etc.... and beautiful ceilings!
Castello di Sammezzano, Leccio, Italy
The mesmerising ceiling, vaults and decor of the Peacock Room in this abandoned Italian palazzo near Florence speak for themselves. Peacocks, and other exotica, were the source of the inspired decoration to be found throughout the seemingly endless empty rooms of this daydream building. The Moorish-style makeover of what was a much older palace was the life work of Ferdinando Panciatichi Ximenes d’Aragona. Although the aristocratic Italian architect, engineer, botanist, philosopher and politician never visited the Levant or the Orient, he imagined a world of exquisite and highly exotic forms and colours that he brought to life in Leccio between 1843 and 1889. A hotel in the 20th Century, the palazzo and its polychromatic Peacock Room are in limbo today. (Credit: Antonio Cinotti/Flickr cc by 2.0)

Ely Cathedral, Cambridgeshire
Completed in 1334 by the royal carpenter William Hurley, the exquisite timber lantern over the central octagonal tower of Ely Cathedral is one of the greatest feats of medieval structural engineering and design. From the cathedral floor, the lantern appears like the centre of a great, eight-pointed star, with a carving of Christ in Glory at its centre. Constructed primarily from eight English oak trees, the 30ft-high lantern is supported by highly visible timber fan vaulting and by a hidden tent-like lattice of oak beams. Wooden panels – decorated with painted angels in the 19th Century – can be opened around the lantern. Choristers, serving as a heavenly choir, sang through these from the roof of the fenland cathedral. (Credit: Steve Vidler / Alamy Stock Photo)

Shah Mosque, Isfahan
In 1598, Shah Abbas moved the Persian capital to Isfahan. Here, he commissioned a remarkable sequence of ambitious and beautiful religious and civic buildings. But, because the only readily available building material in Isfahan was baked mud brick, there was a fear that, however grand, the new buildings would look rather dull. New techniques in firing coloured mosaic tiles, however, allowed the Shah's architects to revel in wondrous displays of decoration, brought to perfection here in the Shah Mosque (1612-38). Designed by the master calligrapher and miniaturist Rezza Abbasi, the blue, yellow, turquoise, pink and green tiles catch and reflect the light of this bright and hot city, animating cool spaces under the great blue dome of Abbas's mosque. 18 Teachers were asked, 'What's the most cringeworthy thing a student has said in class?'
The classroom is a place of learning, and some might even say wisdom. But these students really put that belief to the test. These are jaw-dropping.
1/18. "He's not my biological boyfriend!"
2/18. "My dad's a teacher and he said a student once asked him what he did for a living."
3/18. "A friend of mine had to send a boy home from her kindergarten class for saying 'Fuck the police!'"
https://img.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeed-static/static/2013-11/enhanced/webdr01/29/22/anigif_enhanced-buzz-23730-1385780632-13.gif
4/18. "In my college biology class last fall, a student asked if cobwebs were living creatures."
5/18. "Had a kid think Washington DC stood for 'Da Capital.'"
6/18. "I had a kid in my music history class say Queen Dildo instead of Queen Dido for the whole first act of the play we were reading in class."
yikes!, this one
8/18. "A little girl (kindergarten) drew a picture of herself then coloured the whole page red. When asked why she coloured everything in red the kid said, 'that's what I'm going to look like when I blow myself up.'"
10/18. "I asked one of my pre-schoolers what was for lunch one day during circle time. She told me 'Chopped liver and Jack Daniels.'"

In an effort to better understand what in the heck my kids and their peers are talking about while searching the NZ net I ran across (in part) this -
Straight or gay. In 1948, sexologist Alfred Kinsey developed what is now known as the "Kinsey Scale"; Zero on the scale is exclusively heterosexual, six is exclusively homosexual, and everything in between is just that – something in between wholly straight, and wholly gay. Many decades later, more specific terms have emerged to help minorities define themselves outside of the "one or the other" box. Some examples –
Bisexual, ratings one through five on the Kinsey Scale denote bisexuality in different measurements, with three being "equally heterosexual and homosexual"; a description society generally understands as bisexual. However, the bisexuality spectrum is broader than that. Some are predominately attracted to one sex, but also attracted to another incidentally. Important to understand in comprehending bisexuality is its fluidity. A bisexual person may feel varying levels of attraction at different periods of their life. Some even refer to themselves as hetero- or homoflexible, and some identify as bicurious, which is the mere curiosity of bisexuality without necessarily acting on it.
Pansexual, often confused with bisexual, pansexual (pan meaning "all") means the gender binaries of male and female don't factor into your physical or emotional attraction to others. That is, pansexual people can feel attracted to all and anybody, including those who identify as intersex (this used to be called hermaphroditism, a term now considered outdated and derogatory), transgender, and any other gender identities.
Polysexual, attracted to multiple genders (poly meaning "many") but not necessarily all genders. Polysexual also differs from polyamorous, which is the desire for more than one romantic and/or physical relationship at the same time, with all partners consenting.
Skoliosexual, refers to those who are only attracted to people of non-binary genders. This includes trans and intersex people, among other genders. Skoliosexuals are not attracted to cisgender people, i.e. those who identify with their assigned sex at birth.
Androgynsexual, the sexual attraction to androgynous people (those who have ambiguous masculine and feminine characteristics), no matter what gender those people actually identify as.
Asexual people do not have sexual feelings, period. They don't experience arousal towards others, or when they think about sex as a concept.
Greysexual, is moving fluidly between asexual and sexual at different times and under different circumstances. Greysexual people can identify as straight, gay, or any other sexual orientation too.
Demisexual, a person who doesn't usually have sexual feelings towards somebody unless they have a very strong emotional bond with them.
Autosexuality, used by those who don't feel sexually gratified by other people; instead, they prefer self-gratification over all other forms of sexual activity.
There are also many people who don't like to define their sexual orientation at all. They can prefer queer, the umbrella term that promotes inclusiveness for anybody who is, essentially, not straight.
Questioning - A final part of minority sexual orientation for society-at-large to understand. This goes beyond the realm of bi curiosity as it denote the process of exploration for people who are unsure of their sexual orientations and/or gender identities.
These are only for self-identification, and should never be used to "out", shame, or give your own verdict on what box you think somebody else should be in.
And most importantly, just like heterosexuality and homosexuality, none of these diverse sexual orientations are a choice. - Stuff
I remember when it was all just as simple as normal, gay, other - my how this article dates me. The full article in its original form can be found byfollowing link below.

Support boycotts, divestments and sanctions to Israel.
Stop bombing the Middle East. Stop the drone program. To be clear, I don't support organized religion in any form but realistically:

Happy Easter!
*Happy Birthday to my mom who was born on Easter, quite certain my dad has found her and they are playing golf all throughout the winds, the moons, the stars....... I love and miss you both!
*A useless Easter factoid, 76% of the people who eat chocolate bunnies chew the ears off first.

Do you live in a bubble?
I scored a 33.
There exists a new upper class that’s completely disconnected from the average American and American culture at large, argues Charles Murray, a libertarian political scientist and author.
Take this 25-question quiz, based on a similar one published in Murray’s 2012 book, “Coming Apart: The State of White America 1960-2010,” to find out just how thick your bubble is.

Here is a sample question:
Have you ever lived for at least a year in an American neighborhood in which the majority of your 50 nearest neighbors did not have college degrees?
Make your judgment with regard to your neighborhood, not your ZIP code. Answer “no” if you are thinking of a gentrifying neighborhood in which you were one of the gentrifiers.

Fascinating. I scored a 41.
You got 68 points.
The higher your score, the thinner your bubble. The lower, the more insulated you might be from mainstream American culture.
See below for scores Charles Murray would expect you to get based on the following descriptions.
48–99: A lifelong resident of a working-class neighborhood with average television and movie going habits. Typical: 77.
I am not surprised!!! :)

Fox Noise 'panel' debate whether math should be offered in school.
http://www.rawstory.com/2016/03/who-needs-algebra-fox-news-panel-debates-whether-math-should-be-required-in-school/comments/#disqus
*Algebra is learning about logic and rules, also strategy. Performing Algebra evolves a younger brain to mature into an adult brain capable of critical thinking. So, I absolutely disagree with anyone who says Algebra is no longer needed!.
Why teach Literature?
Why teach Sports?
Why learn an instrument?
We are introduced to these things in order to grow up, mature and be a more well-rounded person. A dumbing down of society means a more pliable society, easier to guide them towards your ideology. Reading Beowulf didn't have much relevance in my life, but it taught culture and language. One can converse with so many more people you meet in life, have that confidence on numerous topics.

April Fools Day!
Pulling pranks is forgiven on this day. (usually)
I personally find many pranks to be a bit on the mean side such as replacing Ex-Lax in lieu of chocolate. That is just not cool, is it?
Will not share the worst prank Ace has done in the past, in retrospect....
What was I thinking?!
Here are a few benign, yet funny pranks I found.

"Boaty McBoatface"
is the overwhelming favorite in contest to name 300 million pound sterling research vessel.
Things have a way of backfiring when you trust the Internet to behave responsibly.
Just ask Britain's Natural Environment Research Council, which had an online contest to name its new $287 million polar research ship.
Poll takers ignored suggested august names like Shackleton, Attenborough and Endeavor, instead gleefully voting for "R.R.S. Boaty McBoatface," which is both ridiculous and totally awesome. Assuming Boaty wins the contest (it has a big lead), the Research Council will have to decide whether to honor its own contest or scuttle Boaty in favor of something more dignified.

It's not strange at all and is everywhere if you look for them, even though it's originally Southern. I've been to a couple of restaurants that didn't know how to do them and fried up spears. You can't do that and have it turn out right. They have to be sliced and they have to be dill pickles.
You should try it some time. I take some paper towels and pat off the grease then dip them in ranch dressing. It's definitely not an everyday food or even remotely healthy dish but it's really good if done right.

Congratulations to the U.S. women's hockey team!
United States beats Canada for gold at women's hockey worlds.
Alex Carpenter dashed Canada's hopes of reclaiming women's world hockey championship gold on home ice.
The daughter of former NHL player Bobby Carpenter scored the overtime winner for the United States in a 1-0 win over the host country Monday in Kamloops, B.C.
The U.S. went undefeated in the tournament en route to a third straight world title. Coached by former NHL defenceman Ken Klee, the Americans outscored their opponents 23-2 in the tournament.
Canada and the U.S. have met in every final of the 17 women's world championship. Canada won the first eight, but momentum has swung south of the border with their archrivals taking seven of the last nine.
... Russia downed Finland 1-0 in shootout for the bronze medal.
... Sweden finished fifth, the Czech Republic sixth and Olympic bronze medallist Switzerland seventh in the tournament. Japan was relegated to the 'B' world championships with Germany earning promotion to Plymouth.
The rivalry between the two countries brings attention to women's sports and women athletes, and is good for the quality of the play.
Now watch out for Canadian women in soccer at the Rio games. :)

Remembering my boy Marco. 1995-1997
He chose me when he was 7 weeks, the big lumbering goober jumped on top of all of his siblings to reach me.
Wanted him to be trained for personal protection, so off he went to boot camp at 4 months. They kept him for 6 weeks, I could visit to observe him but had to remain hidden as to not to be a distraction. That was difficult, but I got it.
They also had to train me on how to handle him. My goodness, he could do just about anything on command.
He grew to just shy of 125 lbs, yes a big boy.
So, we were ready to go on our work/adventures outside of the country. Marco made going through checkpoints with men in jackboots and automatic weapons, a breeze. They were too busy admiring Marco, they failed on more than one occasion to ask me for my papers.
He was just a year and a half when his behavior changed from a confident boy to a paranoid and jumpy boy. Noticed his hair was falling out in large clumps and he had a sore that refused to heal. The local vet took some blood and the results came a week later.
Marco had a very rare leukemia, it was going to be fast with no cure.
I could not breathe naturally the rest of the day, it was forced. He knew, he knew I knew. We were inseparable for a few days. I took him on all of his favorite places, and he ate all of his favorite foods.
The last walk was to the vet. His kind eyes told me he was going to be okay.
Thinking about you today Marco and every day.

The mind twisting photography of Thomas Barbey. Yes, photography.
Thomas Barbčy grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, across the street from the “Caran D'ache” factory, the largest manufacturer of art supplies. He started drawing seriously at the age of 13, using black “encre de Chine” and gouaches for color. His influences were Philippe Druillet, Roger Dean and H.R. Giger. After living in Geneva for 17 years and designing posters for musical bands, he decided to move to Italy, where he lived in Milan for 15 years making a living as a successful recording artist, lyricist and fashion photographer.[1]

Does a tendon protrude from your wrist? (http://www.davidwolfe.com/tendon-protrude-from-wrist/)
http://cdn.davidwolfe.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/evolution-FI-759x419.jpg
It turns out that if you have a tendon protruding from the underside of your wrist, you actually have physical signs of evolution attached to your body
But neat as it is, other than spooking your friends with Machinist impressions, a protruding wrist tendon doesn’t really have a purpose; therefore it’s known as a vestigial structure.
Vestigial structures are body traits left over from evolution that have no discernible use for us modern humans. That includes things like tailbones, goosebumps and that pesky appendix. These are different from other traits humans have evolved to no longer require because instead of phasing out entirely – like the tail – they remain present in the body for reasons that remain a mystery to many scientists.
It’s known as the palmaris longus and it turns out most people have it – in fact, those of us who don’t are actually reasonably rare at 14% of the general population.
It is believed that the palmaris longus was used by humans years ago to activate the wrist’s flexibility. However, it has no effect on the modern human’s body.
In fact, the tendon’s presence is so benign that it’s very common for it to be removed and used in tendon grafts or cosmetic surgery.

Wombat -cuddler contest promotes Tasmania.
An online competition to become the "chief cuddler" of a baby wombat in Tasmania, has made the tiny marsupial an online celebrity.
Eight-month-old Derek was rescued from his mother's pouch after she was hit by a car.
He is being cared for by wombat experts on Flinders Island, between Tasmania and mainland Australia, and will eventually be returned to the wild.
Derek is being looked after by Kate Mooney, known as the "Wombat Lady of Flinders Island", who has cared for the island's orphaned wombat joeys for two decades.

Samsung just patented contact lens with built in camera.
Samsung just took another step into science fiction. South Korea has just granted the tech giant a patent for contact lenses with a display that can project images straight into the user's eye. The news comes from a Samsung-centric blog SamMobile.
The lenses are equipped with a built-in camera and sensors that can be controlled simply by blinking. Content is sent to your smartphone through embedded antennas. This is where the data is processed.
It seems that Samsung is developing the smart contact lenses as an alternative to creating improved augmented reality experiences over the current crop of wearables, reports SamMobile.
With contact lenses instead of glasses, users will be able to enjoy augmented reality content more discreetly.

Inky the octopus pulls a 'Nemo'
The great escape: Inky the octopus legs it to freedom from aquarium
“The staff and I have been pretty sad. But then, this is Inky, and he’s always been a bit of a surprise octopus.”
Reiss Jenkinson, exhibits keeper at the National Aquarium, said he was absolutely certain Inky was not “taken” or “stolen”.
“I understand the nature of octopus behaviour very well,” he said. “I have seen octopus on boats slip through bilge pumps. And the security here is too tight for anyone to take Inky, and why would they?”
Because octopuses have no bones they are able to fit into extremely small spaces, and have been filmed squeezing through gaps the size of coins. They are also understood to be extremely intelligent and capable of using tools.
Ah, on to freedom for Inky. There's fun video at the website of Inky's fellow octopuses escaping from various places along with pictures of Inky's escape route.

The Santa Barbara Zoo has a new Masai Giraffe calf. Audrey, aged eight, gave birth to the calf on the evening of March 26 in the Zoo’s Giraffe Barn, after approximately five hours of labor.
The male calf has been named “Chad” in honor of long-time Santa Barbara Zoo supporters, the Dreier Family. The Dreier Family has sponsored seven Giraffes at the Zoo including Chad’s parents Michael and Audrey.
At the calf’s first exam by the Santa Barbara Zoo Animal Care team, the male was measured at six-feet-six-inches-tall and weighed 191 pounds.

Cirque du Soleil cancels multiple shows in N.C.
Cirque du Soleil, the enormously popular Canadian art/acrobatic troupe, announced Friday it has joined multiple entertainers who are canceling shows and concerts in North Carolina in protest of that state's new law widely condemned as anti-LGBT people.
In statements posted on Facebook and Twitter, Cirque du Soleil said it "strongly believes in diversity and equality for every individual and is opposed to discrimination in any form."
Cirque du Soleil said the North Carolina law is "an important regression to ensuring human rights for all," according to the statement.

How Annoying are You on Social Media?
Ace <----- Not annoying
Congratulations! In the age of over-sharing and relentless vanity, you have somehow managed to not be annoying on social media. We envy the way in which you've masterfully dismissed Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from your life so you can focus on the important things like friends, family, and memories. Keep up the good work!
Sample question:
How often do you threaten to de-friend people on Facebook?
ALL THE TIME. PEOPLE ARE FREAKIN' ANNOYING.
SOMETIMES. USUALLY WHEN I GET RILED UP ABOUT A POLITICAL ISSUE.
NEVER. IF I'M GOING TO DE-FRIEND SOMEONE, I'M GOING TO JUST DO IT.

Harriet Tubman may replace Andrew Jackson on $20 bill.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew will reportedly announce Wednesday that former Treasury Secretary and Founding Father Alexander Hamilton's face will remain on the $10 bill.
Lew will instead announce a new plan to replace former President Andrew Jackson's image on the $20 bill with that of Harriet Tubman.
Tubman was a famous 19th century abolitionist who escaped slavery and became the conductor of the Underground Railroad, a system of secret safe houses that successfully helped free hundreds of slaves. She later went on to become a spy for the Union during the Civil War.
Jackson, whose face has been on the $20 bill since 1928, was a supporter of slavery who -- as some critics have pointed out -- did not believe the United States should use paper money.

Lesser known facts about Prince
1. His real name was Prince.
http://assets.rollingstone.com/assets/images/artists/prince.jpg
2. His symbol actually had a name: 'Love symbol #2'
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/0a/90/bc/0a90bc1a6727999ed580b3667af0f9aa.jpg
3. He took a promotional tip from Willy Wonka
In 2006, Universal hid 14 purple tickets—seven in the U.S. and seven internationally—inside Prince's latest album, 3121. Fans who found a purple ticket were invited to attend a private performance at Prince's Los Angeles home.
http://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/469780/imgres.jpg?t=1461010191871
4. He screwed up on SNL
During Prince's first appearance on Saturday Night Live, he performed the song "Partyup"ť and sang the lyric, "Fightin' war is a such a f*ing bore."ť It went unnoticed at the time, but in the closing segment, Charles Rocket clearly said, "I'd like to know who the f* did it."ť This was the only episode of SNL where the f-bomb was dropped twice.
http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/snl/images/7/76/SNL_Prince.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20121013065625
5. He was a hell of a basketball player. Being so diminutive, quite impressive.
https://uproxx.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/basketball-prince.gif?w=650
*Cut my teeth on Prince's music in the 80's, his androgynous look, his rated x lyrics. His take-no-prisoner in-your-face overt sexuality was captivating to observe. I was working in a Federal building in downtown Chicago when 'Purple Rain' was released. The building was 79 stories tall, hundreds of cubicles and offices. If there was 1 poster of Prince and his motorcycle from the film, there were dozens hung up on wall boards. Had a smile on my face every time I saw them.

Rescued Circus Elephant Is Finally Reunited With Her 'Family.'
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/photo/51852999.cms
For almost 53 years of her life, Rhea had known nothing but a life of exploitation. But now, thanks to her rescuers, her abusive past is behind her and she will live out her days in freedom with the only family she’s ever known.
According to Wildlife SOS, the organization responsible for securing her freedom, Rhea spent nearly her entire life as a circus elephant. She was likely taken from her family in the wild as a baby, before she was forced to endure a brutal training regime that would turn her into a performer. She would spend her life confined by ropes and heavy chains, and it would take a toll on her. The organization wrote in an update about her past:
Her time in the circus has left Rhea riddled with ailments. Her feet are in atrocious conditions, with deep painful cracks running through her swollen soles. Her nails are cracked and her cuticles overgrown, testament to the neglect she has been subjected to all these years. She walks awkwardly, with a slight limp, and we are suspicious of more serious wounds or problems that can only be diagnosed once she is in our care at the Elephant Conservation and Care Centre, Mathura.
Her rescuers hope she took comfort in the company of two other female elephants, Mia and Sita, who were the only family she had.

Pot etiquette: How to behave when marijuana is legalized in Canada.
http://storage.brantfordexpositor.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1297352345374_ORIGINAL.jpg?quality=80&size=650x&stmp=1355502446880
CBC News asked Lizzie Post, great-great-granddaughter of renowned etiquette expert Emily Post and co-president of The Emily Post Institute, to weigh in on marijuana etiquette.
"I think where it goes wrong is when people just assume that because it's legal they can do it anywhere, anytime and it doesn't matter," she said. "All the rules of good etiquette still apply."
Marijuana at work? Probably not.
Companies should develop policies around marijuana use as soon as legalization looks like it will move forward, Post said.
Most businesses don't allow drinking on the job — and employees should treat legalized pot the same way, she said.
More at the article. Ms. Post covers pot party etiquette, as well as would you suggest bringing pot on a first date? So many questions that just beg for answers. Just admit you inhaled though.....

Each year at MFuwe Lodge (http://www.bushcampcompany.com/elephants_in_reception.php), between late October and mid December, some very special guests pay a visit to feast on the fallen fruits from the large Wild Mango (Cordyla africana) tree in the lodge grounds.
The fact that a large safari lodge is built around this delicious food store is of no concern to them. Each day generations of these special guests saunter thru (or have been taught to saunter thru) the reception area to reach the fruits.

Thief steals snake from pet store by stuffing him in his pants
A thief was caught on video shoving a python down his pants at a pet store in Portland, Oregon.
The man walked into A to Z Pets, grabbed the snake out of its cage and shoved it down the front of his pants before casually walking out of the store.
When the store owner realized that the snake was gone, she checked the surveillance video and saw what had happened.
Now the search is on to find the thief and the 2-foot python, which is worth about $200.

I am reminded of an graduate study I did, a few years ago....
There used to be an methadone clinic, blocks away, and I was curious about the broad representation of clinic visitors. By conducting field interviews, I learned that people's doctors has prescribed opiate medications for use, but when clients and doctors realized that withdrawing from high powered opiates was most often impossible, doctors would have to "black list" their clients so they'd qualify for methadone programs/treatment facilities, to get them off the opiates they liberally prescribed. Of course, neighborhood councils complained about the clinic bringing unwanted attention to the neighborhood on the premise that these people were often dope addicts. But the truth turned out to be that people with well paying jobs/careers with the best insurance ever were victims of the medical and big pharmacy empires.
I knew something was up because neighborhood council claims didn't match up with the real demographics of clientele visiting the methadone clinic.
Anyway, it's no surprise to me that medical bankruptcies would be on the rise because I recently read on Senator Sanders government website that behind top killing medical conditions of heart and stroke deaths is..... medical record errors.
I'm guessing that's an significant statistical error that is most likely shoved into an dark corner because heaven forbid anyone sheds light on medical issue practices that could cost you your life : prime example ---->>> Prince, and the opiates prescribed by doctors trying to help manage his pain levels. KFC's new edible nail polish, it tastes like chicken!
HONG KONG — Fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken is branching out to finger-licking fashion with a new line of flavored nail polishes.
The limited-edition nail polish will come in Original Recipe and Hot & Spicy flavors. It can be applied like normal polish and tasted as soon as it dries, according to a statement by the company posted online.

Marketing company Ogilvy & Mather reportedly worked with food scientists at the same spice company responsible for KFC’s secret blend of 11 herbs and spices.
“Yes, it is actually a real thing,” Ogilvy & Mather’s Anna Mugglestone told the New York Times. “It tastes like chicken.”

The Peregrine Falcon is making an epic comeback from extinction!
http://tasmaniantimes.com/images/articles/dc86cb372c6df9267e24e7167101a7d7.jpg
Like many species, the peregrine falcon was moved to the endangered species list prior to the restriction of DDT, which weakened the calcium content of eggs and thus dramatically decreased the percentage of falcons that survived until they hatched.
With pesticides more closely regulated now and captive breeding operations enormously successful, the peregrine falcon was removed from the endangered species list in 1999. Captive bred falcons are fed via a chute or a peregrine hand puppet (so as to prevent them from imprinting on the human trainers). Over time, feeding is reduced and the falcons are forced to learn to hunt before being fully released into the wild.

The Muppets dropped by ABC. Say goodbye to Kermit and Miss Piggy. :(
In what will surely be remembered as Bloody Thursday at ABC, The Muppets and Galavant have become the latest major series to be dropped.
The adult-themed primetime spinoff for Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog and the rest of your favourite Henson creations will not get a second season, the network decided on May 12.
The Muppets debuted with much fanfare last fall, as stars across ABC's biggest primetime shows starred with Fozzie Bear, Beaker and Pepe in comedic TV spots.

In case anyone wondered how to diagram that sentence about buffalos.
The sentence:
"Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo"
is a grammatically correct sentence in American English.

Ace is having an unusually lazy Sunday morning, lots of time to ponder sentence diagrams. Off to watch paint dry now........

Los Angeles TV meteorologist handed sweater on air due to viewer/viewers complaints about too revealing.
A meteorologist at a Los Angeles television station had to stop in the middle of her forecast Saturday because some viewers complained that her dress was too revealing.
A confused Liberte Chan stopped midsentence on KTLA as a hand from off-camera started dangling a cardigan sweater.
“What’s going on,” asked Chan, who was wearing a sparkling black dress. “You want me to put this on? Why? ’Cause it’s cold?”
“We’ve been getting a lot of emails,” said the voice belonging to the hand.
“What?” Chan screeched as she was helped into the gray sweater. “Really?”
“I look .... like .... a librarian now,” she said as she continued her forecast.

This is a pet peeve of mine! The weather women always wear highly inappropriate clothing here.
Dresses too tight, too short, that no longer fit, necklines way too low or that are cocktail dresses (like this one).
Just bizarre.
I always wonder out loud, do they not have anyone at the local stations to help them?
The GF then says: "What's wrong with it?"
Why yes, I am a member of the fashion police.

Missouri man paid 50k in interest on a 2500 payday loan.
He lost his car, his house, his dignity. This is immoral that our politicians allows this and some of these loan companies charge up to 700% interest.
Fucking criminal!
A retired and disabled Marine, Clark still has a hard time talking about the more than 5 years in which he says he struggled to pay $50,000 in interest which began with $2,500 of these loans, sometimes called "cash advances" or "check loans."
"It was hard for me to talk about it without breaking down in tears," Clark told ABC News. "If you’re a man you take care of your family. If I had another choice, I would have taken it. I wouldn’t have gotten in that situation at that time."
Clark's road to the payday loans began in 2003, when his wife slipped on ice and broke her ankle, which required surgery to restructure it. His wife, a retail employee, was unable to work for several months, Clark said, and was ineligible for benefits from her employer. With two daughters to help support through college, Clark couldn't pay his wife's medical bills, which he said totaled $26,000. He turned to his family and friends, but they didn't have the money to lend him.

I had a first date. Nice woman, well spoken BUT she is vegan (I had no idea) nothing wrong with that but I had salad to appease but my Butch den has a lot of Native American collections in it including fir and feathers, antlers and other collectables. I was told how she did not think it was right. SO, it is a last date and now I can go have my usual steak, chicken or pork chop for dinner knowing this will be the last date. She is an individual with her beliefs and I have mine. To each their own.

Thank you for posting about Edmond Lewis, Orema!! I usually love the gifts you randomly leave for us here, but this one is especially interesting. Lewis was a member of the 'Rome Amazons', which was a remarkable group of mostly lesbian sculptors led by Emma Stebbins who was the first American woman to win a major commission here- The Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. It was an extraordinary group which gathered at an unlikely time in our arts history. If I were an academic I would base all my work on this group. Lewis was particularly remarkable given the double prejudice she faced.
