The town is sick of the vulgar jokes, and they’re finally casting their ballots about changing the town’s name. Some say it’s bleeping time.

It wasn’t always this way. The tiny hamlet in northern Austria, home to 104 residents, lived in peace until U.S. troops discovered the town at the end of World War II. Ever since then, residents have had to endure an endless stream of jokes and disrespectful tourists.

At least 13 road signs from the small Austrian town have been stolen, although the vandalism is offset somewhat by a boom in sales of local postcards. (The town’s name is actually pronounced “foo-king,” and not what its spelling would suggest.)

Experts say the town’s name is derived from Focko, a 6th Century Bavarian nobleman, and the modern spelling was adopted in the 18th Century.

Franz Meindl, the village’s mayor, declared in an interview that “People are now willing to discuss changes to the spelling of the name. But first all F—ingers have to agree on whether want to change it or not.”

I've been informed today that my youngest {and obviously, smallest} Ferret is the culprit of many a tussle, and quite the so-called 'terror'..
I've suspected & seen some of his actions in the past {I do quietly sit nearby and watch them, often...}, however, I also know that being the youngest..he tends to be a whiny Baby...

Which, to those of u with experience dealing with the "terrible 2s" phase know, can be fuckin' annoying after awhile..

So yes, he'll start wrestling matches that rival greco-roman olympic wrestling....and then start squawking for help...
He'll latch on to Mathilda's ear with a possessive non-piercing bite, and get squished when she's sleeping, with not much room cuz of him...she's chubby, btw...
And yes, the toys he fiercely holds on to {not his, btw} with a vicious selfish grasp? They disappear very shortly after a petulant Tantrum, no, I don't hide 'em...The original owner does.
Before my lil 'Oreo' showed up, I never knew ferrets could Bark..not like a dog, mind u, but rather a very serious 'feeling' hiss-bark-jolt-growl-grip, entire bod tense while holding the toy..Solution? From someone else? Leave him be, put him down. Me? Easy..
Turn on sink, make sure the running water is warm enough, and basin is shallow...carry said pissed off, mouthful-barking ferret to it, and dunk both in...Watch the sudden release of toy, said ferret kickin' it DOWN a few notches, acting angelic....

He's older, and has had a few growth spurts, with some occasional awkward moments like whiskers too short, paws too big, haunches too wide...head too small..etc..hehehe...

I have a snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com/) verified story I wanted to share to warn people about kids leaving pop or water bottle bombs out in people's yards and in public spaces. The story is 2 years old, but I had never heard of it, so I thought others might not have heard of it either.

Anyway, these bombs are described as, "Drano and foil mixed (with water) inside a bottle" - the act of picking the bottles up to throw them away or whatever mixes everything in the bottle and they explode, releasing boiling liquid that can cause serious damage.

Mansell said he was dispatched to a home on Bemis Road near the Saline city limits this morning for an unexploded pop bottle bomb. When he arrived, he discovered a 20-ounce bottle in the yard, moved it from the front yard, and it detonated 30 seconds later, he said in the e-mail.

Mansell then checked other yards and located a second one a few doors down from the first one, he said. He moved that one, and it also detonated, the e-mail said.

The homeowner told Mansell she noticed the bottle and planned to move it when she got her morning paper. "There was a high probability that this would have detonated in her hand/face while she carried it to the trash," Mansell said in the e-mail.

A "works" bomb is described as Drano and foil mixed inside a bottle. The chemical reaction makes a volatile build-up of gases and subsequently detonates the bottle with a great amount of force, with the chemical substance in the bottle becoming boiling liquid at that point, the e-mail said.
The explosion can be severe enough to cause second- or third-degree burns or blindness, Mansell said in the e-mail.

Mansell urged residents to watch for bottles in their yards and offered the following advice:

If you find a soda bottle or any other bottles, examine it carefully before you touch it or get near it. If it shows signs of swelling or melting in any way, do not touch it. Call 911.

If you find a soda bottle that has any liquid in it, don't touch it and call 911.
Both bombs this morning appeared to be slightly swollen, with a dark colored liquid inside of it, the e-mail said. The liquid could have easily been mistaken for leftover soda, according to the e-mail.

If someone is caught making such a device, it is a felony of possession of a substance with explosive capabilities punishable by up to 15 years in prison if no damage is caused and 20 years if damage is caused. The penalties are more severe if injuries occur, including a mandatory life sentence if someone is killed, police said.

Why is it that when you are trying to rewire, for example a Operating Room light, that after you finish. The over head florescent light bulb seems to go out or the transducer. So you move your ladder, change out the bulb and you notice that the wiring seems a bit fried. So you start pulling and tracing and you notice that the prior wiring was originally put in badly. You stop what your doing and take a quick trip to Lowe's. You start wiring and see that the Air conditioning condenser is leaking awfully bad. So you start following that wiring and next thing you realize that the Liquid gas lines look pretty bad. Which makes you sigh You close the panels and climb down your ladder. Throw everything back in the tool box and wonder why where you asked to check the things that you knew where built in the early 80's and in about 4 months your moving to a new and modern Hospital....

Jersey seems like a desert of late. It's warm and sunny during the day, and cold at night. Too cold.

I keep hesitating before I plant things. My little lovely purple and orange (it sounds like a horrid combo, but in nature nothing clashes) violas are thriving, so I planted more stuff today.

I highly recommend 'Bloom Plus' for watering your plants. I have been using it on all my stuff this year, even my irises, and they have never bloomed with such ferocity before. They used to bloom a nice, but light purple. This year they are a deep purple and have multiple blooms per stem.

Amazing what food and plenty of water will do for a living thing.

There was an article in one of the UK papers about people changing bedding once every three to four weeks! :| I change my bedd weekly and in Summer up to four times a week.

I cringe at the thought of people laying in dirty sheets for weeks on end... The longest I've gone without changing my bedding is two weeks in Feb/March this year when the builders were in fitting a new ceiling on the landing.

I have asked dates how often they change their bedding and do their laundry... :Z

This is such a pet peeve of mine....sheets must be washed weekly and, like Kiwi, more in the summer if it's sweaty weather....

Dirty sheets and bedding is disgusting....and I cringe when I hear of sheets that go for weeks without laundering, or blankets that get used through several linen changes.

That's why I have a mattress cover on my bed and have for a very long time.

But there is also animal hair, dander, fungal mold, fungal spores, bodily secretions and bacteria. Also: dust, lint, fibers, particulates, insect parts, pollen, soil, sand and cosmetics. "One person can perspire as much as a liter in a night—even more if you have a lot of covers," he says. And, of course, people eat in bed as they watch TV.

:| uh thank you Hollylane for the invaluable information....it is good to know...I must admit I am itching a bit now...even though Sunday is wash the bedding day...I think I will ramp it up a bit because I have all those extenuating factors...a dog and a cat whom both like to sleep with me...would it be a bit over the top (OCD) if I start washing them daily :|

You know you're tired when you grab the bag of chips to put the clip on it and put them away but you grab it by the bottom and not the top, therefore causing hundreds of chips pieces to go all over your bed, carpet and rug.

*sigh*

Twenty minutes later, the comforter is in the wash, the bigger pieces are in the trash and the smaller ones have been vacuumed up.

The bag is in the trash too, because the Universe is obviously telling me I don't need them.
