Pinky, an extremely rare albino dolphin, was spotted over long weekend in Calcasieu Lake, Louisiana. Erik Rue of the Calcasieu Charter Service has seen the animal several times this summer, most recently just a few days ago, as first reported by WGNO.

Rue first saw the dolphin in 2007, back when it was a baby. "I was coming in from offshore and it was really flat calm. I saw a pod of dolphins and something looked different on one of them. I shut down and waited. When they came back up to the surface, one was pink! It was stunning," Rue recalls in an interview with Newsweek.

Pinky is an albino bottlenose dolphin. When a dolphin is albino, it ends up being pink instead of white. Pinky's mother is a regular gray dolphin. "Very little is known about albino dolphins due to their extreme rarity," National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said in a factcheck about Pinky.

"I've been able to see it quite often. Just about everybody around here that fishes and spends time in the river channel sees it during the summer time," Rue said. Rue has been extremely lucky to see the albino dolphin multiple times. NOAA only has record of two other such dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico. One of these dolphins was spotted in 1994 near New Orleans and the second in 2003 near Galveston, Texas. The Galveston dolphin reappeared several times in 2004.

Anti-gay marriage clerk Kim Davis is about to get a rude awakening in her hometown.

Non-profit organization Planting Peace just erected the above billboard in Davis' hometown of Morehead, Kentucky. The message is plain and simple -- if Davis is going to use Biblical rhetoric to justify her opposition to same-sex marriage, she might want to take a closer look at how else marriage has been redefined in relation to the book's sacred teachings.

"The intent of this billboard is to expose how the anti-LGBT movement is selective in what rules to follow and how they choose to define 'traditional' institutions or values," Aaron Jackson, president of Planting Peace, told The Huffington Post. So we have been getting a metal roof put on our house. The roofer was here with his guys when the insurance adjuster came to the house across the street. He went over to work with the adjuster to show him the hail damage done. The woman who owns the house was outside waiting for them to finish up and as I sit in front of my house I hear him tell her there is damage to one side but not so much to the other side of the roof so technically he can only pay her for half of the roof. Had quite the sweet tooth when I was wee, I'm the only one, right? While at the store a few weeks ago, I looked for a Marathon bar which was one of my favorites. Was crushed! So many of us in second grade looked so glamorous innocently puffing away on those sugary sticks of Winston, Marlboro and Camel. Have memories of us on the monkey bars with them sticking out of our pieholes hanging upside down, acting all....second grade and stuff.

Wonder how many of us smoked real cigs from having exposure to the fake, sugary ones. *Not me.

So while talking to my sister today she informed me that she had a rooster that has showed up on her property and just been hanging around. She noticed him out by her tomato plant the other day and he was pecking away. She thought maybe there were bugs near it and he was getting those. However, today when she went out to pick her tomato it was completely gone! She said near the end of last week she thought she had three tomatoes on the plants but when she went to them they were gone as well so she thought she had just picked them earlier taken them in and ate them. She said that he apparently took those too!! A neighbor came to visit and she asked him if he wanted a rooster. She told him about the tomatoes and he laughed and said, "Well you know what I will do with him.....I will fatten him up and then have dinner!" He then looked at her and asked, "Are you attached to him?" She didn't answer and he replied, "Yeessss. Yoooouuu are" and laughed. So when she told me this I asked, "Well have you named him yet?" She said, "I am trying not to do that". I later recounted this story to our other sister and when I got to the part of "I am trying not to do that" she exclaimed, "Pluck". I burst out laughing and said, "Oooooo I have to tell her this" so I quickly grabbed my cell and called her. She said, "Yeah with my luck everyone will think I said Cluck and we all know a rooster crows". LOL!!

I was raised to get a college degree, you were nothing without it, you would be nothing without it. As the years go by, I see millions of graduates neck deep in student debt, not finding work that matches their level of education, and losing hope.

Quite aware this is satire and silliness, but if I were a parent of a young girl, I would push taking trade classes, fixing things.

Not sure if you are anywhere near New Hampshire but if you are you can come visit our store if you are needing a candy smoke fix. Eugene Bostick, an 80-year-old retiree in Fort Worth, Texas, spends his days operating what just might be the coolest train in the world. His homemade dog train takes rescued strays out for fun rides around the neighborhood and in the surrounding woods.

Starting Thursday, the U.S. health-care system is switching to a massive new set of codes to describe injuries and illnesses. The current diagnostic system has about 14,000 codes. A BMW convertible first aroused the suspicions of a motorcycle cop on patrol in the eastern German town of Eibenstock when water sloshed out of it as it drove around a curve. When the officer pulled the car over, he could hardly believe his eyes.

In a police report released on Monday, he described encountering an "a convertible of a slightly different kind." The car had been converted into a swimming pool on wheels complete with a wooden railing and cheap floral decoration that could have come out of a chintzy Hawaiian hotel.

Last week, 20 captive-bred Tasmanian devils were returned to the wild. While that may not seem to be much of a population bump, it’s a start for the famously snarly marsupials that have been devastated by a communicable cancer known as devil facial tumor disease.

Since it was first discovered in 1996, the cancer has killed off as many as 90 percent of the animals in many parts of their habitat. When Chris Filardi, director of Pacific Programs at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, was finally holding the elusive Guadalcanal moustached kingfisher, he told Slate writer Rachel Gross, it was like finding a unicorn.

Filardi had been searching for the orange, white, and brilliant-blue bird for more than 20 years, when on a field study in the high forests of Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands, he finally heard the “ko-ko-ko-ko-kiew” sound of what he described as the unmistakable call of a large kingfisher.

After days of tracking, he and his colleagues captured a male moustached kingfisher in a mist net.

“When I came upon the netted bird in the cool shadowy light of the forest I gasped aloud, ‘Oh my god, the kingfisher,’ one of the most poorly known birds in the world was there, in front of me, like a creature of myth come to life.” Filardi wrote in a Sept. 23 blog post.

I saw a documentary on HBO last night, about the wholesale gentrification of San Francisco due to all the big tech companies moving in. Landlords are evicting tenants and building expensive apartments and houses.

The tenants are either sleeping on the streets or in churches or, if they have any money at all, in SRO's.

I guess the micro units are next, for those that can afford them.

The documentary was San Francisco 2.0.

In an effort to be the change he wishes to see in the world, comedian Jon Stewart, after stepping down as host of “The Daily Show,” has started a sanctuary for abused factory farm animals called Bufflehead Farm.

Bufflehead Farm, located in Middletown, New Jersey, is a 12-acre non-profit animal rescue sanctuary owned by Jon and Tracey Stewart, which will soon become home to dozens of cows, pigs, sheep, turkeys and other animals rescued from factory farms.

Stewart has consistently been an animal welfare advocate on his show, once devoting a comedy segment to the foolishness of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s refusal to sign a bill that would end the lifelong confinement of pigs in crates too small for them to turn around.

Tracey Stewart is known for her advocacy on animal rights, recently publishing a book on the topic.

That is kinder than a lot of things done to black cats this time of year. Back in FL, a bunch of counties banded together and would not adopt out black cats the whole month of October and into November. Half female Half male Great Mormon butterfly emerges


An "extremely rare" half male, half female butterfly, known as a gynandromorph, has been found in Hertfordshire.

The Great Mormon was discovered at Butterfly World in St Albans.

The sex division occurs straight down the middle of the abdomen and is visible in the different wing patterns, with the female half on the right.

Butterfly World said this natural phenomenon occurred in only one in 10,000, or 0.01% of butterflies.

A lepidopterist at the centre, Louise Hawkins, said the phenomenon happens "very early on" in the development of a butterfly when the "sex chromosomes don't divide properly".

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- The Mass. Registry of Motor Vehicles is allowing a Pastafarian woman to wear a colander in her driver’s license picture.

This comes after The American Humanist Association’s Appignani Humanist Legal Center's attorneys were enlisted to assist with the woman's appeal after she was denied the right to wear it in her license photo by the RMV.

Lindsay Miller says she is a Pastafarian, also known as a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, which is a secular religion that believes the existence of a "spaghetti monster" to be just as possible as the existence of God. So she filed an administrative appeal and was scheduled to attend an appeal in October about the matter, but it was postponed and the RMV has decided to let her wear the spaghetti strainer in her photo.

Miller said, "As a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I feel delighted that my Pastafarianism has been respected by the Massachusetts RMV. While I don't think the government can involve itself in matters of religion, I do hope this decision encourages my fellow Pastafarian Atheists to come out and express themselves as I have."
