I had a similar adventure tonight with iced coffee. Oh and might I add that it was the XL sized coffee. I knocked it all over the living room rug. While I was cleaning up the mess I commented to the kid, "Well, I guess this was the Universe' way of telling me I really didn't need it". LOL





You know you're tired when you grab the bag of chips to put the clip on it and put them away but you grab it by the bottom and not the top, therefore causing hundreds of chips pieces to go all over your bed, carpet and rug.

*sigh*

Twenty minutes later, the comforter is in the wash, the bigger pieces are in the trash and the smaller ones have been vacuumed up.

The bag is in the trash too, because the Universe is obviously telling me I don't need them.

My Brodie was the same way. He loved being held and when I did, he would wrap himself around me like a kid.

Sometimes, the only way to calm him was to wrap him in my arms and rock from side to side while petting him.

In church today the pastor made a request that all moms come to the front and be recognized. I stepped up to the front with about 15 other moms and marveled at how different we all looked and that being a mom transcends being Trans (me), Butch, Femme, or androgynous (pls forgive me if I missed anyone). We all had that one common thing no matter how we identified. The diversity of the mothers standing in front of the alter was a comfort to me today and I was honored to stand there with them.

George Lucas disses neighbors by doing something awesome


George Lucas' rich neighbors don't want him building a movie studio in their backyard. His response is the best thing he's done in years.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, for four decades Lucas has owned a large swath of land in Marin County in the North San Francisco Bay and has spent the past few years trying to transform the ranch on it into a massive, nearly 300,000 square foot, state-of-the-art movie studio complete with day care center, restaurant, gym and a 200-car garage. His neighbors, however, have rejected it every step of the way. Despite the promise of bringing $300 million worth of economic activity to the area, the already-well off neighbors are worried about years' worth of construction activity and the additional foot traffic it will bring into their neighborhood once completed.

The local homeowners association has been such a thorn in Lucas' side that he's decided to abandon the studio construction entirely, issuing this official statement about Lucasfilm's withdrawal of the new studio:

The level of bitterness and anger expressed by the homeowners in Lucas Valley has convinced us that, even if we were to spend more time and acquire the necessary approvals, we would not be able to maintain a constructive relationship with our neighbors.

We love working and living in Marin, but the residents of Lucas Valley have fought this project for 25 years, and enough is enough. Marin is a bedroom community and is committed to building subdivisions, not business. Many years ago, we tried to stop the Lucas Valley Estates project from being built, but we failed, and we now have a subdivision on our doorstep.

So what is George Lucas going to do with his property now that he's tired of his rich neighbors putting up a not-in-my-backyard stink? He wants to transform the property into low-income housing, naturally, ending their official statement with this zinger, "If everyone feels that housing is less impactful on the land, then we are hoping that people who need it the most will benefit."

He's working with the Marin Community Foundation to instead construct affordable housing for either low-income families or seniors living on small, fixed incomes. In order to smooth along the development, he's already given them all of the pricey technical studies and land surveys Lucasfilm spent years conducting. And we think that's just great. Because if there's one thing rich people will hate more than having movie magic made in their backyard, it's poor people moving in.

Mr. Lucas, we may hate you for turning your back on the original trilogy, but our hat is off to you on this one. Well played.

I dont think this was well played, nor will I be patting George Lucas on the back. To me, this is a case where the ends do not justify the means.

George Lucas, in spite of his fame and fortune, couldnt build the playground he wanted. In retaliation against the neighbors who thwarted his will and with whom he supposedly wanted "wanted to maintain a constructive relationship", George decided to demostrate his lack of character by using the poor and elderly as pawns in his payback is a bitch power scheme.

Seriously George, people who are less fortunate and elderly are not props for you to use in your temper tantrum. This behavior and mind set makes me think your neighbors fought you for a damn good reason.

OH MY GOD THIS WAS ME THE OTHER NIGHT.

i've NEVER had mice ANYWHERE i've lived, ever. i think one snuck in because i left the screen door open at night when i went out to grab the groceries. because i was sitting in my living room, minding my own business, when suddenly i see something dart into the room then dart back into the kitchen. i nearly had a heart attack. he hung out for awhile and i haven't seen him since (exterminator came in the next day and said he probably wandered back out).

i had to keep reminding myself that it's not like he could hurt me when i went to bed. (i sleep realllllly close to the floor...that makes me feel less safe when it comes to creepy crawlies.)

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window. The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside. The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance. As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene. One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by. Although the other man could not hear the band, he could see it in his mind’s eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words. Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away. As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone. Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside. He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window. The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall. She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

Epilogue: There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.
