I live in an old farm house with a bunch of women ranging in ages from 23 to 65. I love that they all come to me for fashion advice. Apparently I am the fashionista of the group. But I am also the "sweet, kind, honest, healer" and it is sometimes hard to be gracious and tactful to someone who really needs to wear a bra sometimes but won't, or to someone else who is enthusiastic about color but has no sense of what goes. When they ask me, "How does this look?", what they really want is to be told that they look fabulous, as-is. I do my best but in the end, I must honor the quirky diversity around me and it really is fabulous.

Dentists may want to make note of a new molecule called Keep 32. It’s called that because the molecule seems to have the capabilities to help you keep all 32 of your teeth in your mouth and potentially make cavities — and maybe dentists — a thing of the past.

The chemical was designed by scientists in Chile who seemingly have a vendetta against dentists bacteria. In laboratory tests, Keep 32 was able to wipe out all the bacteria that cause cavities in about 60 seconds. The molecule targets the bacteria known as streptococcus mutans, which keeps dentists in business by turning sugar into lactic acid, which in turn erodes tooth enamel. Once the streptococcus mutans is eradicated, mouths stay cavity-proof for several hours.

The product has been developed and researched for seven years and is now moving into testing on humans. Once Keep 32′s efficacy and safety are proven, it could make its way into the market within 14 to 18 months, according to researchers José Córdoba from Yale University and Erich Astudillo from the University of Chile quoted in the Daily Mail. The Chilean website Diario Financiero Online reports that the pair have a provisional patent on the molecule and are looking for funding for their human trials.

If Keep 32 is as successful in testing as it is in the lab, it’s likely that the chemical would be added to toothpaste, mouthwash, and other oral hygiene products, especially if researchers sell their patent to one of the major pharmaceutical companies. However, Astudillo isn’t limiting his product to the dental world. He also hopes to license the chemical to candy companies like Hershey’s or Cadbury. Keep 32 could be added to sticky sweets, meaning that consumers would no longer need to be concerned that a package of saltwater taffy or caramel would cause tooth decay. Parents will have to come up with a different excuse to prevent their children from eating copious amounts of Laffy Taffy.

Cat Marks 15 Years as Mayor of Alaska Town

This time, Alaska may have really found a way to fix American politics. The mayor of Talkeetna, Ak. boats sky-high approval ratings, a 15-year winning streak and, with over 6,000 subscribers, more friends than you on Facebook.

His secret? He’s a cat.

Fifteen years ago, the citizens of Talkeetna (pop. 800) didn’t like the looks of their candidates for mayor. Around that same time resident Lauri Stec, manager of Nagley’s General Store, saw a box of kittens and decided to adopt one. She named him Stubbs because he didn’t have a tail and soon the whole town was in love with him.

So smitten were they with this kitten, in fact, that they wrote him in for mayor instead of deciding on one of the two lesser candidates. Mayor Stubbs has held his position ever since.

Many citizens are genuinely happy to allow a kitteh to rule the roost. “He doesn’t raise our taxes—we have no sales tax. He doesn’t interfere with business. He’s honest,” said Stec, who converted her store into a part-time mayor’s office when Stubbs claimed victory. Not even the dogs seem to take issue with their new boss, even though there are reportedly more canines in Talkeetna than there are people. “I’ve never seen a dog mess with him,” a local business owner said.

Stubbs also gives tourists a reason to stop in on their way to Mount McKinley. And, in town Talkeetna’s size, a dozen tourists a day can really make a difference.

The honorable Mr. Stubbs doesn’t have too many responsibilities as mayor, since the town is technically only a “historical district,” says Andi Manning, the president of the Chamber of Commerce explained.

And to be fair, Stubbs isn’t exactly the hardest working man in Alaska. He enjoys the finer things, like drinking water out of a wine glass with catnip in it and having his belly rubbed by his constituents. A clerk of the town describes the polikitten as “very demanding” and in need of many a long nap to get through the mountain of work he doesn’t do.

Hmm, so maybe this isn’t the solution to American politics. But think of how cute the State of the Union would be!

Maybe it is a generational thing, so enlighten me. A dog who has all the ladies adoring him could be equal, in a roundabout way, to what used to be called a "ladies man". A manwhore, in my day, meant a promiscuous male.

A 21-pound lobster was caught off the shore of Nauset Beach in Orleans. The lobster which is currently on display at a local fish market, has claws measured at about a foot long. I call him Larry.

The largest lobster on record was a 44-pounder caught in Nova Scotia.

It is expected the lobster will be sold or raffled for charity. Either way, I expect he will find his way back to the brine by summers end. It is custom to return unusual stuff to the ocean....after it is duly exploited of course.

This little guy is at my daughters in AR and she needs to find him a home.
He is maybe 7-8wks old?
He is Grey and White and is a tiny lil guy.
Pit/Mix and is free to a good home.
He is sweet with everyone and loves to cuddle!
He is wonderful with kids and lets my granddaughter who is 2 love all up on him, and is great with dogs!
He has been De-wormed and Has had a bath and will have another before he goes.
She found him on her doorstep and no one wants to claim him.

Also my daughter knows how to get a voucher for free fixing or fixing the dog for a donation. If you want to know about this, for this guy or for your own animals then please ask me for info.

Anyway, it gives me hope to see even the most conservative folks starting to do the right thing. I hope this is a trend that will continue.
